The passenger airbag is not turned on when a passenger sits in the seat. this means the airbag will not be deployed in the event of an accident. took the car to the dealer, they indicated that the occupant detection sensor located in the seat was not working and needed to be replaced. my car is only 5 years old and has 67,000 miles. as this is a significant safety hazard which could lead to severe injuries or death, and given the car's relative low mileage, i do not understand how the manufacturer does not warranty this for a longer period of time. i was told that if i chose to have the dealer replace the seat sensor, it would cost me >$1,700.
