We have classified the 5 complaints from 1999 Audi A6 about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Have had nothing but problems with the audi a6 since inception. car started making a horrible noise that sounds like it is coming from engine or transmission. car cannot pass emissions. engine smoking fluid is pouring out of front of transmission. the car dealer: nalley audi in roswell, georgia. the car dealer nalley audi fraudulently took money from me and never repaired vehicle. *tr
Audi claims that transmission fluid and filter never needs to be changed, this is not only incorrect, but this also causes transmission problems on a regular basis. this should not be told to the customer for it is a lie just so the customer has constant transmission problems while audi racks in the money. it is a scam and it should be eliminated from potential and existing audi customers. no oil was ever made not to break down and not ever be changed. a new audi owner usually listens to the dealership about their cars, and usually don't change the fluids or filters, hence transmission break downs and expensive repairs. scam *tr
Tie rods, ball joints, and upper control arms all failed, resulting in damage to axle causing failure of vehicle in traffic and requiring axle replacement (in addition to replacement of upper control arms, ball joints, and tie rods). dealer says none of damage or repairs covered by any recall. *tr
transmission and computer broke while sitting in driveway. shop which repaired car tried to find a used computer out of 3 other audis and all were rusty. mechanic informed me that water seeped behind dashboard and under driver's floorboard, rusting out computer ,and ruining transmission. evidently, all other audis showed the same water damage in the same area. computer failed to send a signal to the dashboard that there was a problem. fortunately, the transmission locked while the car was in park and not while we were on the road. we installed a rebuilt transmission and new computer. i am concerned because i drove a vehicle once when the transmission locked while in the middle of a road, coming to a dead stop. i believe this could be a dangerous situation.*ak

Audi a6 (2.8l) throttle was frozen open at 70 miles per hour, only way to stop was to "stand on" the brakes. shut the car off and it was ok. called the dealer and was told there was a recall on the throttle sticking at cold temp (temp this day was 3f). told me they could not fix it right away, but to bring it in a couple of days. i have no record of receiving this recall. i looked on the internet and did find it. i thought you would like to record this occurrence for your records. *nm

We have an 1999 audi a6 quattro with only 35 ,000 miles on the odometer.recently discovered an oil leak under vehicle, found out from audi service that the prop shaft/transmission seal is leaking. i questioned the service rep and he said, he's seen it happen on others with 20,000 miles on the cars.
My car was accelerating without the gas pedal being depressed. i was fighting to stop the car with the brake but failed to do so as the car was accelarating at high speeds on a major highway. i had got the car down from 50mph to 15 mph. at this point turned on my hazardous lights and pulled over to the shoulder. at 15 mph i safely shut my car off as i was unable to completely stop. after 30 seconds, i turn my car back on and see that the car is hittig redline of 7000 rpms in park mode. i shut my car down once more and wait another minute. i start the car and the car is back to normal. i am being told by many people in my car's internet forum that this has been happening to many people and it is a faulty throttle pedal. the pedal has a heating element that has failed due to the recent extremly cold weather.
The ignition system has a flaw allowing the ignition/auto-transmission to be switched off in drive. without knowing that had happened, the driver started the vehicle which immediately began rolling. the owner tried to stop the vehicle and was injured in the process. please describe details.*jb
