I purchased my 2004 acura tl from autoland usa in selden, ny on april 5th, 2016. the vehicle is in great shape. no torn seats, interior issues or any other visible issues at time of purchase. just about 2 weeks ago, i noticed these cracks forming on my dashboard. i know this to be a manufacturers defect due to the overwhelming complaints on quite a few message and complaint boards and websites. i need to know what will acura do to fix this issue. this is definitely not a wear and tear issue, because i also have a 1992 honda accord in my driveway, that still has a perfectly intact dashboard and the accord is much older than this acura. i have attached a few pictures to confirm my claim. thank you. I was reading some other complaints here and this has also happened to my car. the dashboard is totally cracked surrounding the airbag and looks like the airbag will explode any time. i was actually just in an accident and it didn't explode, which makes me even more nervous. it looks horrible and is very expensive to replace. i have talked to several mechanics as well as a vinyl/leather repair place. the repair place won't touch it because it surrounds the airbag and could effect proper function. however, like i said, i was just hit in the front of my car and it didn't explode at all!
Well today i took my acura tl type s for a carwash as usual and as i was parking on the shade i notice a small crack on the right hand side front passenger airbag on the dashboard and as i drove home and park in the garage the crack had gotten bigger and now i'm scared that the airbag might just pop out anytime. so i did some research in a popular website called acurazine where it's a community of hondas and acuras owners and im not the only one with this problem so maybe you guys could do a recall. thank you for your time *tr
The dashboard on the driver & passenger side in the area of the air bag is splitting in 2 areas. i observed this when the vehicle was parked overnight. i take good care of my vehicle and this is absurd that this should happen to such a high end vehicle. loss of equity in vehicle is expected and acura(honda) should be held liable and responsible for fixing the issue. a recall notice should be implemented asap to avoid lawsuits from customers as myself. the safety issue is that the airbag system integrity has been compromised. please advise with recommendation. thank you *tr
Two weeks ago i noticed a small (6") crack on the dashboard of my acura tl 2006. it is located on the right side on the passenger side. today the crack is longer ( around 12") and it seems to be wider. there is also a small (4") crack on the perforated area above the steering wheel. even thought this is a 2006 model, it has only 47k miles. i think that neither age nor high mileage are a factor here. i used to own a corolla ce and drove it for nearly 160k miles and such thing has never happened to it. i am shocked that this is happening with a car considered luxury. my understanding was that the quality of the products used to manufacture this vehicle was higher thus the price for the same. i have read similar complaints and concerns which leads me to believe this is a defective part. please investigate this issue. thank you. *tr
I have a 2004 acura tl and in the last months cracks have appeared on the dashboard, directly around the airbag compartment on the passenger side. it is definitely a defect of workmanship and or materials. there is way too much consistency in the positions of the cracks. there are hundreds of posts on social media reporting the same issue. https://www.facebook.com/acuratldefectivedash/posts/219662424726766 my car has 165k miles, is garage kept, detailed regularly with one owner. *tr
