Recently reported STRUCTURE problems on 1999 Acura TL

Tl* the contact owns a 1999 acura tl. when the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for maintenance, it was discovered that there was excessive rust and fractures on the front passenger side subframe. the contact stated that the air conditioning drain hose dripped onto the subframe and caused it to rust. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 141,000.

My car shutoff while i was driving on the freeway and restarted on its own several times before it finally stalled completely. i lost steering power etc. i had to be towed. the acura dealer had to replace the ignition switch, which had been replaced in an earlier recall years ago. obviously, the replacement switch is not good either. *tr

The sub frame assy is rusted through on the passenger side this subframe supports the engine and trans axle assy. this is a defect the subframes are rusting on honda and acura cars... same as hyundais did and those were all recalled. this is the same defect and needs a national recall for repairs asap before somebody gets killed. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 1999 acura tl. the contact stated that he took the vehicle in for a check up and was informed that the frame was corroded and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000.

Paint and clear-coat is coming off of all panels. paint feels like "sandpaper". car was repainted at the factory before being sold.*ak
