Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. the contact stated that when her son was driving, a rattling sound was heard in the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that the transmission was fractured. the vehicle was not repaired and was not taken to a dealer. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v866000 (power train). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
Hybrid module work shop warning. the car has now power breaks when this happens. the car under performs when the electric drive does not work. no power brakes add to the problems. my car has been repaired 2 times for the same problem. it a drive ability and safety issue. vw has not been helpful with a solution.
Complete loss of drive while driving, check engine light came on, gear indicator flashing "d" and a wrench. after making it to the side of the road and trying to get power back, the car would not start.
Hybrid emotor (electronic traction motor ) fails at 100k miles . can cause sudden failure and fire. vw does not consider this part as pzev and does not follow california pzev law.
Car would slip/stall when accelerating from a dead stop. check engine light came on. then car would not start. dealership said it needs a new transmission assembly.
While my fiance was on way to work at around 6 a.m. she stopped at light when she went to go it bucked a little then started going when all of a sudden the car would not move in the middle of traffic. luckily some people where around to help her push it out of traffic she got hold of me went to her started car but would not move called tow truck had it towed to vw dealer where she had purchased it and has always had her service done. while waiting for service to call i did some investigation on computer and what do you think i found yep so many complaints with same problem. so when the call came from them was told few things wrong the electric motor was dead but he said the good news it is covered by the hybrid warranty then i said ok whats the bad news was told transmission needed to be replaced, i said to the gentleman that vw new about this and they just wait and pray the warranty runs out. i refuse to pay $7700 to fix it purchased car in 2015 with almost 14000 miles in all that time she when this happened she had a total of 59000 miles. vw new they had problem did recall for a few but from what i read that does not fix the corrosion that has already happened shame on them and the dealers that sold them. these dealers need to complain to vw on behalf of there customers who came them in good faith and a fist full of money.
For the last 30,000 miles my vehicle has sporadically stalled out or shuddered heavily as if it was about to stall while driving at low speeds or accelerating. this month however, my vehicle stalled out and completely lost power for a few seconds while driving at low speed in heavy traffic on the interstate. each time i was driving straight and not turning was involved. my transmission has been replaced twice and each time this did not solved the issue. these incidents keep increasing in severity and occur randomly so i do not know when to expect. i feel unsafe when these instances occur.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. the contact received a notification in the mail per nhtsa campaign number: 19v615000( electrical system, steering). the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the contact called nhtsa and was informed that the parts were not available. the contact stated that the tire warning indicator illuminated. also, the vehicle made hard shifts while driving at various speeds. the failure mileage was unknown. vin tool confirms parts not available.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. while operating the vehicle, the direct shift gear warning indicator intermittently illuminated, which meant that the transmission overheated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. fox valley volkswagen st. charles (4050 east main st, st. charles, il) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 113,000.
Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine
Driving on city street, the engine quit. there was no power and the auto had to be towed to a repair station. repair was jx1 power electronic output model which was coded and adapted to vehicle. :(per brunswick auto mart document). it would appear that this vehicle engine electronic control module failed. if the failure happened on a highway during high volume of traffic a serious issue would occur.
Dsg transmission shifting hard 2-3 and 3-4 with clanking you can feel. lurching from a stop when letting of the brake. this happens mostly at around 50% throttle when accelerating.
The vehicle stalls intermittently, losing power to the engine. at first, it began to happen monthly (50,000 miles) only while the vehicle was stationary (at stop lights or idling in the driveway). the engine would lose power and the battery light would come on, and the vehicle could be started again immediately. the vehicle also exhibited lurching acceleration at low gears. it would not trigger any codes (for either issue), and multiple vw dealerships were unable to replicate and diagnose the problem. the stalling then occurred while driving (70,000 miles), causing the steering to lock up. this occurred while on a freeway at 70 mph; the vehicle had to be pushed off the freeway by an officer and then towed. still, the vehicle did not produce any codes. after over 1 month at the dealership service center and replacement of 4 different wires that appeared corroded, and the transmission valve body, the same issues persisted. the stalling began to happen more frequently, both while stationary and while driving, and began to trigger the epc light (80,000 miles). by this time it was clearly unsafe to drive. not willing to rent a car for an unknown duration for the service center to attempt to replicate and diagnose the issue, i was forced to purchase a new vehicle.
Sudden loss of acceleration power at any speed without warning. on freeway must roll to a stop. no engine lights on. mechanic unable to diagnose problem, car is not giving a trouble code. issue occurs when vehicle is cold or hot at a stop or moving. it's been occurring twice a week now for the past two weeks. i've noticed similar complaints from other owners on automobile forums.
Left work and barely made it out of the parking lot when the car made a 'clunk' and lurched in d but would not go. large indicator light came on, put car in p, waited and then back to d. still would not drive. turned it off and waited a minute or two. was able to restart and drive to parking lot. large light was out but check engine came on. lots of transmission fluid leaked while waiting for tow truck. my vin not in recall. 😡
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. while driving approximately 20 mph uphill, the vehicle started to jerk and did not respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle failed to make it up the hill and the contact had to shift into reverse and reverse back down the hill. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. upon parking and exiting the vehicle, a reddish fluid was seen leaking from the engine compartment onto the ground. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
Transmission input shaft bearing failure at 51,000 miles
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. while attempting to park, the vehicle independently moved, even when the brake pedal was depressed. as a result, the vehicle drove over a curb. the vehicle was taken to winn volkswagen (39695 balentine dr, newark, ca 94560) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body assembly had potentially failed; however, only a software update was performed. after the software update, the check engine warning indicator remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the throttle body assembly was replaced. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the failure mileage was approximately 75,037.
A few months back an error came up on my dash saying "hybrid workshop." i called the dealership and they said it was regular for my car to say that at about 68k and that i would soon need a hybrid systems check. that light went off the very next day so i didn't stress it. soon after my car began acting funny when coming to complete stops, the vehicle would jolt back into motion causing a hard breaking motion to occur. soon after my transmission failed as i was parking. i was in reverse and the car suddenly stopped reversing and began to rev loudly before jumping back into reverse and then back to revving. after transmission failure, i brought it to the dealer and the dealership said it may be my mechatronics unit, after taking the mechatronics unit out they determined it was indeed the transmission. i've read of a recall for this very same problem hundreds of times online after searching it, yet my vin isn't connected to any recalls on vws website.
While driving on highway epc and check engine lights up and the car suddenly loose power and start jerking step on gas to speed up only engine revved up high but theres no acceleration or speed gain i was able to pull over to the side of the road safely but what if its rush hour and theres a car following behind me it sure going to slam into my car. i heard a lot of complaint similar to what i experienced. in my opinion its a manufacturers defect that should be look on and needs a thorough investigation in order to avoid accident and road mishaps.
Received a hybrid system error on 01/02/2018 while driving to work just within my neighborhood, then it disappeared and i noticed the gas mileage was getting way out of control (usually get 50/gal, then got less than 30/gal). i knew something was off especially since i have been asking the dealer to check the transmission at 53k (had a previous jetta with transmission issues). after keeping my car for a month, the dealer put in a clutch only to call back to say they now needed a full transmission and it would have to be inspected and tested by the warrant company. another 15 days and the transmission was finally added. the transmission has been fixed but the gas millage has not been restored. called the dealer and said that i am bringing it back at the end of the week. after have both a regular 2009 and a 2013 jetta hybrid with the same issue, i no longer want anything to do with vw vehicles.
Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine.
Vehicle began experiencing a violent lurching action around 50,000 miles, either when coming to a stop, or depressing brake after sitting at a stop. dealer "reset" transmission and problem began again after a couple months. happens once a day now. feels like the vehicle is being rear ended. now have 100,000 miles on vehicle.
Takata recall: driving vw jetta hybrid with my family as i remember passing 2 set of lights as we left our house, when we stopped on the third red light my engine started idling, like every second gas engine would stop and turn back on. so it keeps doing it all the time on d position, and when transmission on n position the engine just keeps going. the sad thing is that you think the car with 22,000 mi on it, should not have major issues like this.
Mechatronics unit failure, causing failure of dsg transmission, which is a critical safety concern when traveling at high speeds, or accelerating through traffic. common failure yet vw refuses to take responsibility. there have been several recalls on dsg transmissions in past model years
We purchased our 2013 jetta in november 2016 from casey chevrolet, a "certified used vehicle" dealership in our area. a couple months after the purchase, we were having trouble with the car stalling as well as transmission troubles. the vehicle has stalled on my pregnant wife and 2 year old at least four times. once she was at a stop light and it completely shut down, the next she was in a fast food drive-through line, the third time she was trying to maneuver a turn, and the final time she was backing out of the babysitters drive way. with respect to the transmission, there have been many instances where either she or i would be attempting to merge or just need to pick up speed and in between shifts the car would hesitate and then shift very aggressively. we have contacted the dealership multiple times and each time we take it in they can't find a problem so they give us the car back. on the other hand, they have "solved" the transmission problem twice only for it to reappear at a later time. they have refused to replace the vehicle or refund us the purchase price. we have also contacted volkswagen who likewise refuses to refund or replace their product. right now the car is parked in our driveway because we do not feel it is safe to drive. my wife is now driving my truck and i am in my older car from college. all the while, payments still have to be made which is very frustrating. i feel that two companies i thought were trustworthy have taken advantage of my family and i.
Ignition would not turn off resulting in having to leave the car running for an extended period of time. features built in to the car did not permit me to lock the car while the key was in ignition. the car had to be left running with no way to lock the car to prevent theft or children from accessing the car. vehicle was stationary. *tr
A failed tensioner causing the timing chain to snap and bend the valves.
My timing chain tensioner failed and bent 14 valves. all 4 cylinders had zero compression. volkswagen represents in the warranty and maintenance schedules that the tensioning system is expected to last for about 120,000 miles without the need for repairs. in fact, according to the plaintiff, owners are provided manuals that do not show any timing chain system inspection or maintenance schedules at all.
Car jolts on freeway. driver side mirror protector fell off. as a result of trying to grab fallen off piece over extended arm injury. due to extending arm out window
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. the contact stated that the vehicle would reverse while in the drive position. the engine indicator illuminated when the failure occurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 63,000.
While driving suddenly loose power or transmission failure. it'll feel like it's in nuetral. diagnostic test can't pick it up so what can we do as consumers? keep complaining nobody is hearing us. damage!!
While driving vehicle with dsg transmission in normal "drive" (d) mode the transmission will shift into what feels like neutral with no warning whatsoever and no clear way of making the car driveable again. car has to come to a complete stop with no power available for transmission to return to working condition. happens intermittently in varying driving conditions such as while cruising down the highway or while driving at normal commercial street speeds. took it to dealer but issue could not be replicated.
While driving with a total of 26,415 miles, the manual transmission suddenly failed. specifically, after stopping in front of my son's school on a city street to put car into reverse to parallel park, the stick shift would not go into gear. i was stuck in the roadway and had to solicit two men to push my car to the side of the road to await towing to the dealership under the 3 year warranty. come to find out vw does not warranty the clutch except for the slave cylinder, and thus considers all other mechanical failure to be user wear and tear. i have noted many jetta owners on the internet complaining of the same problem with as few as 2930 miles driven. in 30 years of driving a manual transmission, the past 13 in vws, i have never had any clutch problems, issues, work or replacements. i am still waiting for them to officially "diagnose" the problem after agreeing to pay $500 to take out and examine the transmission, and bear that cost and all other parts/labor if they determine the cause is anything besides the slave cylinder. yet my problem is not with the clutch but engaging the stick into gear and thus unlikely to be diagnosed as the slave cylinder. clearly there is a history of shoddy or cheap clutch parts for which vw fails to take responsibility and instead shifts costs onto its customers claiming user wear and tear. after failing prey to the faulty sunroof problem in a prior 2003 gli and paying to fix it myself after eight years of dealer bandaids and missing the class action lawsuit, you would think i would have learned and bought something else.
this vehicle doesn't run correctly it refuses to move while in driving
The problem showing error code p0087, p0387 high pressure fuel pump failure, the cost of expensive to repair, difficult to meet warranty related power-train & engine. it has been twoce break down. its third break down. it only 62k mileages on it. vw want to working on it due of out of warranty cost. i am not happy that vw is not qualify to inspect part problem cause. i hope it is affect other customers who have simply problem with hpfp.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. while driving 15 mph, the brakes failed and the contact's vehicle rear ended the preceding vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. the contact was not injured and a police report was filed. the vehicle was taken to a certified independent mechanic and the body damage was repaired. in addition, when the vehicle was in park or reverse, it would jerk. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle jerked. in addition, the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate but increased in rpms. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number: 13v568000 (power train). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 42,000.
When starting to accelerate, my jetta will randomly shift with a very hard jerk. took it to the local vw dealer here in germany but they could not duplicate it (my car is us spec, but we are stationed abroad). the service manager sent a message to the engineers for possible solution but it took another 6 weeks to get advice which was to do a reset on the computer. that did not work as now when it happens, it sometimes acts as though it is not in gear, rpm's rev, but car barely moves, making it unsafe on the roadway. when i pull over, turn off the engine, and then restart it, it is usually fine again for a little bit. but because it is a random occurrence and they cannot replicate it, the technicians do not see it as a problem.
Jetta sportwagen tdi with a 6 speed manual transmission. pulling out of a gas station, shifted from first to second, clutch pedal stayed on the floor. could not shift or control vehicle speed of vehicle. rolled to a stop. car had to be towed. had to replace clutch, throw out bearing and slave cylinder. up to this point, there had been no indication of clutch problems. i have driven 6 manual transmission cars a total of 911,000 miles and never had any clutch problems. *tr
While driving, my car just lost speed and power and drifted until it hit zero. my car still turned on, and my engine worked fine, but the clutch wouldn't start in any gear it would just rev the engines and the rpm's would go up but the car would not move. there was no prior clutch, transmission or powertrain issues with the car until the exact moment that the clutch burned out. car was towed to vw for repairs and i had to get a hotel room for the night plus a rental for 5 days as i had to be in rhode island and the car broke down in new york. total clutch burned out with several large cracks in clutch plate, service manager stated it was due to build up of snow/ice in around tire and creating a drag on the vehicle and increased torque on the drive train. there are many complaints of very similar issues located on the internet, vehicle was built with a clutch that can barely handle the torque output of the engine but cannot handle any additional torque resulting from normal driving conditions such as snow and ice. required total cost was $1,800 for repairs and labor, plus $500 for the hotel room, food and rental vehicle. *tr
In 12/2014 i started realizing issues with auto-transmission in the morning when i start the car. the issue continued to happen every single day. dealer was not able to diagnose the problem because it only happen first thing in the morning.
Vehicle just exited freeway onto exit ramp. while braking from highway speed, at approximately 10-15 mph, there was a loud noise and the engine stalled. wheels were locked, as if it was stuck in gear. vehicle skid slightly into intersection on wet pavement. vehicle was still in drive when car stalled. vehicle was shifted into park and restarted. no warning lights came on after or before to indicate engine problems. vehicle was taken to vw dealership for inspection. *tr
The vehicle would loose power while accelerating, this would happen randomly at any time or speed of driving when the the rpm would hit 4000, the car would love all power and then violently jolt as the power to the engine would kick back in. the volkswagen vehicle while sitting in traffic, at stop signs or red lights would loose power completely. i have taken the car to two different volkswagen dealerships to try and get the issue resolved and for the best part of 6 months one of the dealerships kept telling me the issue didn't exist purely because they couldn't replicate it enough to understand whats the issue was! i feared for my life sometimes driving it as it would cut out and loose power while i was crossing intersections or pulling across a busy free way, many times it happened with my children in the car! i eventually took it to another dealership when it got so bad i could replicate it every time i would drive the vehicle, they managed to resolved the issue for only a month before it started happening again! not its starting to recreate the whole issues and more over and over again and now 1 year and 2 months later i'm back to taking back to the dealership to try and resolve issue they keep telling me they cant recreate, though they have fixed it temporally once before, so they must have idea on what the issue must be. i have got volkswagen corporate involved but i cant honestly say this is the worst experience i've ever had with customer service and a product, the product which in this case is a car clearly has a defect and volkswagen are doing absolutely nothing to help me resolve this, i feel as though volkswagen do not even believe i have issue with this car, for two years an 2 months i've had a car thats spent half of its life with issues and in and out the dealership! all i wish to have is a safe car to drive for my family and i,
Car was driving on the interstate when problems began. when the gas pedal was pushed, the car's tach just revved up with no acceleration. the car began to slow down and we had to pull off the interstate. upon exiting, the car seemed to be stuck in gear but would not accelerate. we tried switching to sport mode and manual mode but neither made a difference. no warning lights came on. car struggled to maintain 15mph upon exiting freeway and was limped into a parking lot. this could have caused a very serious crash as vehicle would not accelerate or change gears. *tr
Was driving when the car suddenly shut off but radio and dash lights were still on almost caused a crash finally got car stopped and started back up fine serious problem needs fixed.... *tr
I was driving the car approximately 40 miles per hour on a straight road, when all of the sudden the engine lost power and i started coasting in the middle of traffic. i would press the gas and the engine would rev, but no power would be delivered. it was unlike anything i've experienced before with the car. it was like i was in a false neutral, the rpms would increase but the car would not accelerate when i was pressing the gas pedal. since the car would not regain power, i was forced to coast to a halt in traffic. when i tried to remove my key to power down the car, it would not let me take the key out of the transmission. it was as if the car thought that the transmission was not yet in park even though it was. after a few seconds i was able to remove my key, when i turned the car back on, the problem seemed to go away. *tr
Upon take off the car jerks, and u drive the car on interstate under cruise control the car jerks multiple times, the 1st incident and then here recently, driving down the interstate at normal rate of speed car jerks without warning and giving gas at passing a vehicle on interstate it will jerk and act like it will not go will jerk and jerk like it is not getting gas and i had a full tank so i have took the car in number of times and says can't find problem and the representative will drive the car and never happens with them i am about ready to give car back this issue has been going on too long, the car does this with no warning and it will scare u it jerks so hard i have by now got used to this but i am sick of it and needs to be resolved i owned a 2011 jetta with no problems ever since i have had this one this incident has happened and nobody knows what it is!! maybe ya can help please!! i have been sitting at the dealership letting them check it out for the issue and have heard of others but no one has reported it this could become a issue if the car does not go upon acceleration could cause an accident or death!! *tr
Transmission started lagging in my manual 2013 vw jetta s when accelerating after switching into second gear from first gear. after a couple of days the engine seized up and all of the lights came on. luckily, was just on my way to the dealership for repair and was right around the corner. first repair was 11/2/2013. this happened again 5 days later on 11/7/2013. got it fixed, started driving home and the problem kicked in again. had to bring it in on 11/8/2013 for the same repair in less than 12 hours (3rd time in less than a week). the ignition coil was misfiring and the spark plugs kept needing to be replaced. all was well in good until august 26, 2014 when the same problem happened. a week later, the problem came back but now it's more on and off. will be taking it in again for the same issue for the 5th time now. *tr
The jetta was being test driven by qtm from voa with passenger rick nelson, service manager of bob baker volkswagen vw when getting on the 5 freeway on the las floras on ramp when the car shifted between 3rd and 4th gear the engine missed. the qtm comments on the miss and states that he doesn't think it triggered a full misfire, but then inquired to rick nelson about the tsb that lisa has regarding misfire, tsb 01-13-14. qtm also experienced and acknowledged loss of power and throttle response at approximately 60 mph while he was driving north on the 5 freeway. the qtm and rick nelson agree to open a vta and the qtm states that he will take it over and put his notes in it. these are the issues that i continue to experience with the car and why i brought the car in for service. the odd thing is that the service invoice generated and given to me stated that there were no issues found during the test drive. the statements on the service invoice are fraudulent and in direct conflict with the statements made by the qtm and service manager during the test drive. i continue to experience the car missing while in sport mode and loss of throttle response while in drive.. the status of the vta and its contents are under investigation. as far as the reputation of the qtm from voa and the dealership and its service department at bob baker vw, i think their fraudulent statements on my service invoice speak for themselves. .
