All symptons of vw recall no. 37e3/s7 or nhtsa 09v333000" transmission abruptly shift to neutral. the selector lever position indicator within the instrument panel will flash. the depress brake pedal indicator light will be illuminated, also the transmission gets stuck in a gear and it won't shift. in both cases, once you stop the vehicle, turn if off and crank it back on, the problem will solved.

I am truly not sure. it is going into the shop tomorrow. although, i just purchased it used, and when i park it on a hill. it makes this odd sound as if the body is going to fall apart? i smell a burning metal smell as well. it was parked on a hill so it was stationary, just not sure what it is. i know it is used but i only had it for 1 month!

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 volkswagen jetta. the contact stated that the mechatronic unit for the dsg gear box transmission failed to function. the vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic. napleton's volkswagen of orlando (12700 e colonial dr, orlando, fl 32826, (855) 843-6461) was notified. the dealer and manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was excluded from the customer satisfaction program regarding the mechatronic unit for the dsg gear box transmission; although, the vehicle exhibited the same failure as listed in the program. the manufacturer refused to assist. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was not available.

I replaced my brakes with brand new brakes less than 6 months ago and still have all of the same issues. my brakes constantly lock, i've never been able to do a hardstop with this car for the 4 years i've owned it. i've avoided accidents by moving my steering wheel left and right to avoid other vehicles because my brakes lock pretty much every time. it scares me to drive this car with my 2 year old in the back seat. i replaced the ignition lock cylinder and the radiator on my car 3 years ago and my car still jumps when idle and although i can turn the ignition it most often fails to start on the first try. i have to turn it on twice for it to start. often times when i'm at a stop light it sounds like my car is struggling to stay on.

I have the 2010 jetta tdi. the mechatronics unit has failed and vw will not sell parts for this transmission because it is faulty. their words but they also won't recall the transmission either. transmission shops have not been able to buy parts for this transmission for over 4 months so vw is very aware. the issue is the transmission will not allow the car to accelerate safely at all times. i was leaving a business driveway into a 5 lane road and the transmission got stuck in 1st or 2nd gear. it would not allow the car to go more than 32 mph w/rpm's over 3.5. shifting into neutral or park and back into drive at the stoplight did not work. i had to use the hazard lights and pull into the next parking lot safely. turning off the car and turning it back on allowed the transmission to work again but i do not trust driving it on the freeway or merging into high speed traffic. this issue is very similar to the 2007-2009 recall and i purchased my car in november 2009 with a 2010 model. i did not have any issues w/my transmission until after the epa fix. i reported to them twice it had issues shifting in lower gears between 28-32 mph. they said without a check engine light they could not help me and now 6 months later my transmission mechatronics unit has failed. vw says they would cover it under the epa fix but only of the check engine light is on. vw needs to recall the transmission since they are aware it is 'faulty'. *js

When driving this vehicle it will at times hesitate and stumble severely to the point where you will have to pull over. no check engine light or codes noted when scanned. problem started right after vw tdi emissions fixes. vw dealer claims no connection.

While will driving 70 mph on i-96, left front strut/coil/dampener failed , the coil spring became partially offset and separated laterally from the remaining portion of the coil. the portion of the coil offset began rubbing on the front tire sidewall. fortunately, i was located 5-7 miles from home and my local vehicle repair shop. a dangerous and potentially very dangerous development. see attached images..

2.5 l approx. 108,000 miles. the vehicle does a hard shift from 2 to 3rd gear then from 3rd to 4th. almost like a hard resistance then bucks. happens when driving at a low rate of speed or on the highway.

The lights are all crossed. the left turn signal is weaker on the driver mirror. the overhead lights seemed to be crossed. you turn one off and the passenger lights in back come on. the bluetooth stopped working. it is like it has a shirt in it. this is while driving as well as stationary in car port.

Transmission went out while driving and almost caused an accident. got car checked and needed a new transmission and transmission module. did research of this model and model year and it's an ongoing issue with the transmission in this car. if this issue isn't taken care of it will eventually cause serious bodily injury or death. how many lives need to be in jeopardy in order for this to be resolved. my kids are very important to me and i want them to be as safe as possible. why drive something that's not safe for me or my kids.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 volkswagen jetta. on several occasions, while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stopped without warning. on one occasion, the vehicle failed to accelerate. as a result, the contact stated that a warning indicator illuminated, indicating to depress the brake pedal and accelerate again. on another occasion, while attempting to reverse the vehicle, the gear shifter failed to operate and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to vorderman volkswagen (located at 5811 cross creek blvd, fort wayne, in 46818 (260) 489-7900) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not offer assistance. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

When starting from a stop the transmission slips into neutral and the car rolls unpowered to a stop. if the engine is turned off and transmission is shifted to "park" to restart the engine it is then impossible to shift the transmission out of "park" into neutral or any other gear. whenever this is happening various warning lights appear illuminated on the warning panel-eg. "low washer fluid" and "traction control warning." in traffic this is very dangerous and to get to an "outside lane" may be impossible. to lose power when starting from a stop sign and having to coast to a stop in the lane one has just entered is very dangerous. twice when turning left with a left-turn green arrow the transmission failed and i rolled to a stop, shifted to "park" to restart the engine only to have the transmission "lock-up" in "park" with me unable to physically get the selector lever into "drive." this car has been serviced at vw every 10,000 miles since new and at 104,000 miles i am told it may need a new $7,000.00 transmission. on-line i see that the "dsg transmission " has been recalled twice from 2006 to 2016 for "slipping into neutral." however, vw claims there are no recalls for my vehicle and when i do a ntsc vin search i find no such problem listed. my nearest vw service department is 45 miles away via interstate and city driving and i am afraid to attempt driving there for a diagnosis. local transmission shops are unable to service or even diagnose or measure the fluid level in the vw proprietary sealed-unit.

The key would not turn in the ignition switch, and i was unable to turn the car off. the car was stopped and in park. i had to bring the car to the dealer and they told me that my only option to fix the problem was to replace the ignition component.

While recently driving the vehicle the gear indicator in the instrument panel began to flash and then disappeared, no longer revealing what gear the car was in while in forward motion, and car began to lose momentum while driving and began sounding and moving as though the car was placed in neutral. upon stopping the car and again attempting to drive forward, the car engine revved as though in neutral. had car towed to dealer where they drove it and mentioned the wiring harness leaking oil/fluid. i have had this car at the dealer 4 times within a 6 month period (may-nov 2016) for preventative maintenance, as i keep this car in excellent condition and have it checked throughout the year to prevent issues from occurring. during all these times i had no issues until now, as again, i work very hard to maintain this vehicle. i have since done much research on this matter and have had an opportunity to speak with other vw owners who have expressed having very similar issues which falls in line with the issued recall announced august 20, 2009. i have records of all service i have had done for this automobile since it's purchase. i can either mail or fax the information to you for review. thank you! *tr

2010 volkswagen 2.0 turbo dsg fault. the vehicle has begun exhibiting dangerous random/unintentional shifting into much lower gears, or possibly even neutral at various speeds under light or no throttle input on two separate occasions thus far. the first time it happened the vehicle was traveling about 25mph, and the dsg transaxle downshifted/shifted into neutral for no apparent reason, engine revving to 4-5 thousand rpm. this happened roughly four times before it resumed normal operation the second time it happened was yesterday afternoon, on the highway with speed control set at 58mph. vehicle shifted all by itself without reason, again revving to 4-5 thousand. this time it happened twice before returning to normal operation. additionally, one morning i accelerated from a stop with cold engine/transaxle in drive, and the transaxle would not upshift from low gear for about 3-4 seconds. not sure if this is related, but i suspect it may be. the first time it happened, the abs/esp light flashed and remained on, and i took it in to the dealer explaining the problem, and they said my rear wheel speed sensor was failing. this is the only indicator of any fault that i can tell. when the car exhibits this fault, i do not notice any flashing gear indicators or anything of the sort, everything seems normal, except the engine revs high all by itself. i do not have any photos or video evidence of the fault as of yet as it's very unpredictable and intermittent, but i will attempt to capture the problem if i can in the future.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 volkswagen jetta. while shifting the vehicle between the park, reverse, and drive positions, the vehicle made an abnormal noise without warning. in addition, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 66,793.

Transmission jerking from 1st to 2nd gear set off glow plug/check engine light. turned off ignition. warning light reset. jerking continued in gear 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th.

While driving, the car inadvertently disengages the dsg transmission resulting in no power transfer to the wheels. the car also displays an "esp error" (electronic stability program) in conjunction with the transmission problem. once the car is shifted into park and turned off, and then back on, the problem is resolved temporarily. it happens without warning and poses danger for the driver and occupants. this initially happened 2 months prior after a headlight burned out and the bulb status light on the dash came on. the transmission disengagement event occurred once or twice before the headlight was replaced. after replacing the light bulb, the transmission error appeared to resolve itself. two months later, the event occurred following the failure of a valve stem with tpms sensor on the tire. the repair shop did not have any tpms sensors in stock and replaced the stem with a rubber one. this resulted in the tpms status light being on in the dash. coincidentally, within a couple days of this, the dsg transmission /esp error re-emerged. this time around the error occurred every 5 to 10 minutes of driving. this disengagement happened during city and highway driving at varying speeds. disabling esp and driving in manual mode did not fix the problem. this leaves the occupants in a dangerous situation, especially when driving through construction zones and other areas without adequate shoulders on the road. the car is up to date on preventative maintenance. car is at 113,000 miles. extended warranty expired at 109,000. neither vw of america or warranty company say they can assist. dealership service cannot specifically diagnose the problem and suggest either mechatronic unit replacement ($2,000) might solve the problem. if not, complete transmission replacement ($5,000) is recommended.

I took my 2010 jetta tdi in to have the ecm reprogrammed per the notice i received from volkswagon that said the egr might not be read properly. the next day my check engine light came on. i called the dealership and today i had them look at it. they are advising me that my diesel particulate filter is cracked and has been for a while and needs to be replaced. the light only came on after the reprogramming. volkswagon knew about an issue with the ecm and now i am stuck paying almost $2000.00 to get it fixed. there are a lot of other people having the same issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 volkswagen jetta. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled and the neutral and traction control warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 126,000. ma 10/14/2017*cn updated 11/09/2017*cn

Pulled away from stop sign into traffic. engine quit as if fuel was cut off. coasted to side of roadway. car would not restart though it did crank. about a third of a tank of fuel, 80k service was two weeks ago. car had to be towed to shop.

Driving on 2-lane level road, dry weather, dry road conditions, after driving for about 15 miles, at about 35 mph, vehicle dropped out of gear, appeared to be in neutral while moving. abs/esp light came on dashboard. put on flashers and hand signaled to vehicles behind me and came to a complete stop. i shut off engine and was able to restart car, and went a short distance to a store parking lot, and the esp light came back on; and this time the gear shift was locked in park and flashing. vw dealer had replaced original rear brakes (pads & rotors) on 4/16/15 at 104.734 miles. vw checked vehicle on 4/28/2015 and found an error code 01315 in the abs and gateway modules which reportedly indicated intermittent no communication with the tcm; however it was functioning at that time. and cleared computer and said if problem returned mechatronic unit and transmission wiring would need replaced. at this time i also noted noise in brakes, as if they werent completely releasing or making rear brakes making noise when releasing brake pedal. the problem did not reoccur until about 3,000 miles later and again vehicle dropped out of gear while driving again on level road at about 35 mph. car is currently at vw dealer service and mechatronic unit and transmission wiring is being replaced. i also have consistently noted to vw since 4,000 mileage, periodic slipping in lower gears, which vw said they were unable to duplicate. all service maintenance completed at same vw dealer, including all dsg transmission maintenance.

Tl* the contacts owns a 2010 volkswagen jetta. while driving, the vehicle shifted into neutral and then went back into gear. the contact stated that the esp warning light illuminated. the vehicle would not move and drifted back into neutral. the failure occurred often. the dealer diagnosed that the mechtronics failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 37,000.

Transmission abruptly shifted to neutral. the selector lever position indicator flashed within the instrument panel. the vehicle had to be turned off before it would shift into another gear again. *tr

Flew to dallas to purchase this car 2/27/15. drove it home 1500 miles to los angeles over 2 days. got to el paso on 3/1/15 & got into an accident traveling at a very slow speed (15mph or less) going downhill. my particular issue comes in the way of how the transmission behaves going downhill at high or slow speeds. when the cars ecu (electronic control unit) senses the car going downhill, and you transition from the throttle pedal to the brake pedal, the car behaves as if you were driving a manual transmission downshifting & staying in gear. now you may think that's not a problem, but....since these transmissions technically are manual transmissions with an automatic clutch...if you were driving a manual transmission car & wanted to stop quickly as i did to avoid hitting another car, you would push the clutch in to disengage the transmission from the engine...& thus cause the car to lose it's locomotive force. well, that is exactly what this car did during the accident. the automatic clutch did not disengage from the engine when slowing down to a stop, and, thus provided the massive low end torque the diesel engine provides even at very low engine speeds. so, that when i saw the car stopped in front of me, i responded with hitting the brakes, turning the ignition off, and even swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid hitting the back of the other vehicle. i could not stop the vehicle in time to avoid hitting the other car. my background: i'm a 32 yr pro-automotive tech who not only works on, diagnoses & repairs all sorts of vehicles using computer controls...but, i used to teach it as well. so, after driving this car now for several weeks, &...having researched this car & multiple other dsg owners complaints online about the way these transmissions shift...i can say for sure, vw's that use these dsg transmissions is/are a major issue when it comes to public safety. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 volkswagen jetta. while driving approximately 50 mph, the shift lever independently shifted to neutral and back into drive. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the spark plugs and igniter coil needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

While driving home from work, about 30 minutes into a 40 minute drive, driving about 30 mph, in 16 degree f weather, my vehicle, a diesel with a 6 speed manual transmission suddenly stalled. i was able to engage the clutch, go to a lower gear, release the clutch and re-start the engine. with the engine bucking and hesitating, i was able to drive the rest of the way home. the next morning, the vehicle would not start. i had it towed to a vw repair shop where they found a completely blocked intercooler, full of ice. doing some research, i have found that vw has a tsb to correct intercooler icing, which involves replacing the original factory unit with a new intercooler design. as i looked on vw forums, i found that many drivers have had similar unpredictable failure due to intercooler icing. when i requested vw correct this design flaw at their expense, they refused, claiming the vehicle is off warranty. i would like nhtsa to look into this, as i feel vw needs to either make a safety recall, or correct the problem on any car on which it occurs. this problem strikes me as similar to the recent gm ignition key failure issue. thank you for your consideration. *tr

Transmission hard shift. vw is aware of problems with valve body in all this transmissions but only extended some vehicle warranties. *tr

I was driving my 2010 jetta sportwagen tdi on a two lane state road at 45mph. the car was fueled two days prior with diesel (i am the original owner and have never misfueled) purchased at the fort knox army air force exchange services station. the car's glow plug caution light illuminated and an audible chime sounded as the rpm dropped to between 1000-1400 and an immediate deceleration occurred in traffic. the car would not accelerate and the engine shut down approximately 100 meters later. i had to push the vehicle to a gas station in order to clear the roadway. vehicle was towed via flatbed to volkswagen dealership for troubleshooting. the service technician informed me that the high pressure fuel pump failed and sent metallic shavings/material through my fuel system and that the repairs will be very costly. researching further regarding the materiel failure revealed that there is a systemic problem with hpfp failures in model year 2009-2010 volkswagen golf and jetta tdi vehicles. at this time, i do not know if this costly repair is going to be covered by volkswagen of america under warranty for a faulty pump. the failure did not occur due to any fault of my own and i am thankful that it did not happen with passengers at higher speed in more traffic due to the immediate loss of power to my drivetrain. *tr

I enjoyed this car for the first year from then on nothing but constant problems. the daul mass flywheel, the diesel particulate filter #1 at 98000 miles with a con artist service manager at lagdon vw in vernon ct. telling me i needed another one 3 weeks later and it was my fault and not covered with vwoa standing by the dealer i took the car to a non vw repair shop and they laughed when i told them my story and had the diesel particulate filter fixed in 10 minutes with no charge. the car passed state emissions with no problem. the high pressure fuel pump went. now with 6 payments left it needs too much to list and i may default on loan because of constant money spent on repairs. the credit union says they may stop financing vw tdi's because of all the complaints and defaults. *tr

Purchased a 2010 jetta sportwagen tdi in 2012. pre-certified 2 years or 24000 miles. had the routine maintenance done as required and suggested. august 2014, i paid $600 to have the routine maintenance done. september 2014, my car is dead. as i was driving up a hill at 55 mph my check engine light came on and i lost power. wasn't sure i was going to make it home. luckily i did. high pressure pump went bad, metal shavings found, clearly a design / engineering issue. i have seen several issues with this on the internet. vehicle needs to be recalled. first estimate is 5000-6000, i have taken it to the dealer, so the service dept can tell me what is wrong. i am sure they will charge more. worst part is i am 7000 miles over and do not qualify for the pre cert coverage anymore. worst investment ever! vw should be ashamed to not have had due diligence and recalled for this issue. this may cost someone else their life. *tr

False neutral symptoms due to dsg mechatronic. hansel vw dealership in santa rosa, ca stated that our vin number was not covered by the recall. why not? it obviously is occurring with ours just like the others that have been recalled. nhtsa action number :pe09035 "report submitted to nhtsa on august 20, 2009, volkswagen described a potential defect in the wiring harnesses of the dsg gearbox temperature sensors used in approximately 16,000 model year (my) 2009 and 2010 volkswagen (eos, jetta and gti) ". we have a 2010 vw jetta sportwagon tdi that definitely has this defect. what was stated in that complaint happened to us: in heavy traffic, the abrupt shift to neutral could lead to a crash without warning. they want $2473.63 to solve the problem. *tr

Driving on highway and all engine power was lost. car was able to limp to shoulder. tried to restart vechicle with no luck. *tr

While driving down the highway my car shifted itself into neutral. this was a very dangerous situation and my wife and two children had to cross multiple lanes of traffic and were stranded on the side of a major highway. brought to vw and they replaced the alternator, which makes no sense. they sent my family back out with car only to have the same incident recur, they then towed back the vehicle and replaced wiring harness on automatic transmission. this is the exact issue described in recall 09v333000, but vw has stated that this particular vin is not covered. this is an extremely dangerous issue and a formal inquiry should be established to determine if additional vins should be covered.

I have a 2010 jetta tdi with the dsg transmission. when i was driving yesterday, i noticed the "d" flashing as i lost power to the wheels. it was acting as if it was in neutral. i tried to shift it to "n" and back to "d" with no success. i pulled off the road, turned the switch off, waited for it to completely power down and restarted it. it went a couple of minutes down the road and the "d" started flashing again, the transmission disengaged again (false neutral). this cycle went on several times before i was able to get it home. when it was flashing, it would flash in any gear selected (prnds) and it was continuous until i turned the key off. there were times that i didn't have a safe place to pull off the road. this is a big safety issue, it can cause people to be put in a very dangerous situation. this issue can happen at any time and cause a fatal wreck. during the failure, there was no power to the wheels at all, it failed to go into a limp mode to safely move the vehicle. *tr

Dsg transmission dropped out of gear (like in neutral) several times over period of 1 week. speeds ~20mph and 65 mph. required drifting to safe area, stopping, and restarting car to get transmission to work. during failure the ep was illuminated, shifting between gears did nothing. vw dealer reprogrammed tranny between failures. have been using the shift mode for ~ 1week without issue. saw several youtube videos of same problem - "false neutral". numerous posts on tdiclub. *tr

Vehicle will stall going from reverse to drive or from park to drive. also from while accelerating there is sputtering that i need to release the accelerator and then apply again to keep it from stalling. *tr

There have been several times in the past where my jetta didn't go into gear. both times happened on a cold start and driving throughout the day while parked. i put the car in r and it just revs like it's in neutral. i shifted it to d or s all the same outcome; revs like it's in neutral. i have to shut the car off and turn it back on to get it to engage into gear. check engine light then lights up. also other issues with the transmission when i come to a stop, transmission shift rough and loud from 3-2-1 gears. seems like the tranny is trying to figure out to shift to 1st gear for launch. car on 04/16/2014 is at gunther vw in ft. lauderder getting inspected for issues. *tt

Car would not move forward or backward. had to turn off ignition, then car was fine. april 25th put car in drive to enter street from my driveway and car shot backwards. tried three times and the same thing occurred. husband turned off ignition and restarted car. this took care of the problem. we have an appointment with the dealership on monday, april 28th case #[xxx]. frankly, i don't think i will ever again be comfortable driving this car. i was very lucky this happened in my driveway and no one was behind me. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

My engine started to run louder than usual. when i took it in for a oil change i asked if they can tell me why my car was running so loud. when the oil change was done they came and told me that the reason why my car was running louder than normal was i need to replace the dual mass flywheel. my volkswagen dealer said that i do not replace it right away it will end up breaking and ruining my whole transmission. *tr

When shifting gear, with the brake pedal depressed, the clutch makes click noise then slips to neutral. then the prnds lights starts flashing, and check engine light come on. the only way to reengage the gear is by turning the ignition key off and on, restarting the engine. then the gears start working again. but the check engine light will stay lit, and eventually turns off by itself after a few days of driving. it seems that when the brake pedal is pressed very hard, the clutch slip occurs less often. *tr

Came to a stop at a light and the car was fine at first. then, all of a sudden the rpms started bouncing around and the car turned off. it wouldn't turn on for about a minute and i was able to drive off. the incident has happened again on at least 3 occasions. name-brand diesel has always been used, full maintenance has been followed including fuel filter replacement and dsg transmission service. *tr

Driving on highway on 12/15/13 and as i accelerated, i lost power and "check engine light" came on. car fell to 50mph and i exited highway immediately, stopped the car, re-started and the car and light was still on. showed error code g450 and the "exhaust pressure sensor 1" was replaced by dealer in january 2014. glow plug light also came on intermittently at that time. two months later (february, 2014), "glow plug light" came on again intermittently. turned off car and started it again and light went out. dealer says p0237 code means intermittent failure of "boost pressure sensor" and "sensor harness". vw advises the car is not drivable due to unpredictable performance of turbocharger on engine performance due to failure of this sensor. the loss of power has been documented widely for this engine (pump, carbonized intake, other?), but vw has accepted no responsibility for the problem. car is 4 years old with 48,900 miles. repairs are approaching $1000 at this time. *tr

While driving home to panama city beach fl via the florida turnpike car the engine revved up, i had no power and the esp light on the dash came on. i had to coast to the side of the road where i put it in park. i could not put the car back in gear. i then turned the engine off and waited a few minutes. i cranked the car back up and the light was not on. put the car in gear and proceeded on trip. after arriving at my destination, i had three more instances of the same action. i contacted my local dealer to make arrangements to bring the car in. this has been a very frightening experience, especially during highway travel (which is mostly where this car is driven). losing power at 70 mph in congested traffic would no doubt result in multiple injuries, property damage and most likely deaths. this problem needs to be resolved on a global level with volkswagen.

The 2010 vw jetta sportwagen tdi (with dsg automatic transmission) was decelerating on a turning lane from a two lane highway from speeds of 55 mph to 15 mph. there was an audible "click" and the engine stopped and only dash lights were operable. no discernible dash light or error code message was received. the vehicle restarted after the transmission was placed in park, and the ignition key was again turned on. again no messages or warnings appeared on the dashboard. note: the seat heater was engaged (driver's side), air conditioning on, turn signal (left) activated, headlights on, bluetooth for phone linked, radio was operating until the shut-down. *tr

Vibration/ dragging felt when releasing the clutch pedal on my 2010 vw jetta tdi sport wagon. car was taken into local vw dealer for service. clutch assembly, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and release bearing replaced due to excessive play in flywheel and hotspots on the flywheel along with broken springs. now at 31184 miles and 10,344 miles on the new clutch, etc. i am having the same issue local vw dealer said there is nothing wrong and it is a wear and tear item and not covered under the warranty. manual transmissions should last until 80,000-100,000 miles plus. i have never had this many problems with a manual transmissions in my 17 years of driving them. this transmission is defective and needs to be looked into. *tr

While in drive on the highway at 70 mph, dsg transmission slipped into neutral, where it became locked. esp icon on dash illuminated. i had to coast to the side of the road in heavy traffic. after coming to a stop i put the vehicle into park. i was then unable to remove the vehicle from park because the shifter became locked. i turned the vehicle off, and restarted it, and that seemed to fix it; as i was then able to shift into drive. during this, i had my 10 month old and 4 yr old in the car with me...a scary and unsafe situation with heavy and fast moving traffic, while left stuck revving in neutral with no power available to move me out of harms way. just glad i was able to maneuver my vehicle over to safety. similar situation happened after refueling that same day. started car, shifted to drive, esp icon came on, transmission was stuck and revving in neutral, even though i was in drive. shifted into park, where it again became locked and unable to shift. turned vehicle off and back on, and was ok. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 volkswagen jetta. while operating the vehicle in hot and humid weather, the vehicle stalled due to a faulty transmission. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the gear box oil leaked out. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000.

My engine stalled unexpectedly. i was able to start the engine again but there has been frequent hesitation when finding gears. *tr

When an engine stall occurs, this car requires a full reset before a restart can be performed. this is very dangerous when said reset happens while the car is moving. meaning ' a full reset means the ignition key must first be fully turned off. when the car is in motion and the key is fully turned off, at that time the locking gear in the ignition switch engages and locks the steering wheel... while the car is in motion!!! this is a common occurrence in the manual shift transmission models. *tr
