1st off, i drive a 2018 tundra, my integrated trailer brake controller doesnt apply brakes on any trailer. it throws an error message and will not work on any trailer type settings. had trailer checked and tested with other vehicles and trailer works fine. and of course the same exact issue is all over the internet since 2016 and up, with no fix or responibilites taken on toyotas part. not habing trailer brakes is a very dangerous situation and believe that if i paid for the brake system i should have to buy an aftermarket one just to pull my trailers safely. 2nd issue is once again electrical, the radio shut on and off every 10 minutes or so...will not keep presets saved etc, told toyota and they tried to download and update and said the radio wouldn't except the download. of course truck is out of the horrible offered 30k mile warranty....so i have a 2018 tundra 4x4 that has a broken radio and can't even pull a trailer.....hard to wanna make a payment for that kinda stuff.
Driving down the road the following lights came on the dash some of them flashing and loud beeping sound, also displayed the following errors on the center lcd. lights: abs, brake, 4lo, 4hi, hazard triangle, bsm, traction contol, rcta. warning messages: drive start control malfunction, visit your dealer. blind spot monitor malfunction, visit your dealer. trailer brake error, if toeing come to a safe stop with manual controls, contact dealer. rear cross traffic alert malfunction, visit your dealer. when this happened i pulled over to a stop, placed the truck in park and turned it off. waited 10 sec and turned it back on, same messages and lights were on. aprox 30sec later all lights turned off and everything was back to normal.
Collision avoidance system engaged randomly with no known cause at location traveled on a frequent basis. at between 40-45mph on a sunny day at temperature in upper 60's and a location that i travel multiple times a week, the collision avoidance system engaged on the dash board. there were no cars, guard rails, trees or other major metal objects on or near the road at the time of the incident. toyota service mgr indicates that there was no data logging of the event and technician was unable to reproduce; indicates that without 'evidance', they cannot make a repair. however, the evidence of intermittent sensor or computer failures is not always available if proper data logging equipment is not installed in the system. previously, the collision avoidance system had been engaged by an oncoming bus in the adjacent lane (normal daily driving condition, no expectation of collision) at 30mph. parking collision sensor (left front) was also triggered in minor snowfall at low speed in a parking lot. vehicle was purchased new from dealer 12/2017 and had all scheduled services.
I purchased a 2018 toyota, tundra truck in 1/2018. on 3/5/19 at apprx 8 am. i assume an electrical fire started beneath the center console. while at a standstill, on my driveway, around 8 am, a fire started inside the toyota.the fire could not be extinguished with water and continued to grow and only after a fire extinguisher was used was the fire extinguished. the flames had consumed the plastic in the center console to the automatic gear shift. the fire had run along the same path that the wire run which could be visually seen. we tried to move the vehicle a distance from a building but could not shift it forward only backwards. we contacted our insurance and after inspection they determined it was an electrical fire. there has been no after market additions to this vehicle. we contacted toyota and the vehicle was towed to the dealership on3/8/19. a claim was filed with toyota (#1903113498) thereafter. it is now may 2018 and to date we do not have our car back nor know of the status of our claim. as an fyi the truck was serviced on 8/2018 and they advised us that they had to replace the truck battery with a brand new battery on this same new car - something about not keeping the charge. the fire was on 3/5/19 and it is now 5/3/19 and we have not been advised on the status of the vehicle. on one of the phone calls i was advised that it was at product liability. one my phone call today they did not know when i would have my truck back or the outcome of the investigation. the truck's approximate mileage was 20k. i was advised by my state's ag that i was obligated to report this incident to you. i would like answers and i would like my 2018 toyota as it should be.

Toyota safety sense sensors randomly malfunction and flash false warning lights. my truck will tell me to brake and beep alarms at me even if nothing is in front of me. this has happened around 10 times, and one time my truck slammed on my brakes on the interstate for no reason. luckily this was at night with no other vehicles around. myself and many other folks have had serious issues with this system and toyota does nothing to acknowledge the problem.
Pre-crash system does not work properly, with no vehicle in front of me while driving on the hwy, at times if a vegicle passes me on either left or right side, the crash warning beeped and brakes applied, note: no one is in front of me, this has happened a few times, since the initial recall for updates, my pre-crash system inticates its on, however, its not working, yesterday at about 2:15 pm on 8/27/2018 it failed and i hit someone in the rear and speed under 10 mph, i was told by fred anderson toyota of sanford nc service department that they have had some that was out of calibration and that mine should have worked wether if cruise control is on or off.. well it doesn't not work, my truck goes into toyota today 8/28/2018 at fred anderson toyota to be checked again since the software recall update. i have 650.00 in damage to my truck, not sure on the amount of the vehicle i hit because the system failed. i have been reading a lot of complaints on this issue, and it seams toyota is not doing nothing
Pre-collision sensors. pre-collision sensor has gone off twice advising me to brake. both times there was no other vehicle around me nor was there anything to the sides or in front. took it to the local dealership and they called toyota corporate (?). was advised there's no fix and to continue driving the vehicle and annotate all factors surrounding my vehicle if it goes off again. seems like an extremely unsafe alternative to finding out why a pre-collision sensor goes off. i should not feel unsafe driving my vehicle
Pcs system randomly turns itself off, rendering radar cruise control and other safety features useless. started with less than 500 miles on the car. it has been in the dealership 3 occasions at this point with all updates completed and pcs light still illuminates on its own.
The pre collision warning light illuminates a various times. the cruise control will not work when illuminated. the sensor has been kept clean. it does not give a failure code at the dealer. it was reprogramed. the pre collision braking was a major feature in my buying process and it does not work correctly.
Toyota's pre collision sensor is unreliable and intermittently produces an error "pcs sensor unavailable -- clean sensor". the safety portion of this complaint comes when dynamic cruise control is set. when the sensor no longer detects a vehicle in front of you, and there is clearly there, the vehicle will accelerate at a high rate of speed before the error shows on the dash cluster if the cruise control is set above the traffic flow. i expect and realize that this situation could occur, and i avoid using the system. however, if somebody not familiar with this fault is using the pcs sensor and does not realize this problem, they will end up rear ending another vehicle, possibly at a high rate of speed before the system shuts itself off and lets off the throttle. i know i am not the only person dealing with this issue. several others on different forums have described similar situations where accidents have been narrowly avoided because of this fault. the local toyota dealership has been helpful in resolving this issue and have pulled codes for a forward camera communication issue. a new camera has been ordered and will be installed next week.
The pcs always come on the truck died when i was driving it also whent into limp mode on the highway couldn't drive over 20 mph the truck slammed on the breake when i was driving it into a tunnel in seattle wa almost caused a big accident if there was a semi truck some one would have died the selling dealer lied to me on what's going on with my rig keeps telling me non of the problems that's happened isn't a safety problem they also look at stuff that's not what i bring the truck into for the problems they are just giving me the run around every time the have my truck it seems they don't care about what i'm telling them what's going on with the truck they look at stuff my truck don't have or something easy different this truck is a lemon it has safety problems i have attempted to contact the owner of toyota dealership that sold me the truck 4 difrent time and they never called me back there service manager and advisers lie to me there mechanic says one thing but management tells me something elsa the truck is a big safety issue this happens on highways and freeways at higher rates speeds i also have video of some of the safety problems
Received a pre-collision malfunction and trailer brake error multiple times. was informed the fault occurred due to cold weather. was informed that recall software update would resolve issue but has occurred twice since with the latest occurring 1/12/2018. also, have been experiencing a rattling/vibration noise coming from the passenger side dash since purchasing the vehicle in october; toyota hq involved. latest diagnosis is a faulty ecu; awaiting repair and validation.
