Air bags (manufacture unknown) on sept 29, 2018 while driving on a two lane highway at 50 mph, my steering wheel and knee bags inflated for no reason. i applied the brakes and lost sight of the road for several seconds because of the fog on the windshield. when the fog cleared, i could see that i was going to end up in a field and that i had crossed the center line. i tried to back out of the field but could not because of the muddy conditions. i called my wife, told her the air bags had inflated for no reason. i asked her to call aaa for a tow truck. while speaking to her, a man walked up to ask if i was okay. i said yes. he then asked if i realized i had hit an oncoming vehicle. i was not. i had not seen any other vehicle because of the "fog" from the air bag. i asked him what vehicle and he pointed to a man in a red shirt standing in front of a white pickup with duel rear wheels. i told my wife i needed to go see if anyone was injured, got out of my truck and walked back to the other truck. no one was injured in the accident. i was told by my insurance adjuster that there was approximately $7,000 damage to the other truck. my vehicle was totaled.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota tundra. the contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated. hurlbert toyota (58 calef hwy, epping, nh 03042, (603) 693-1010) diagnosed that the spiral cable was faulty and located failure code: b1801. the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls regarding the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 60,379.
Body computer failed disabling the emergency flashers, turn signals, tach, speedometer, air bags, abs,stability control, and rendering the truck's controller area network (can-bus) network unusable for normal and emergency needs. engine would run, transmission would shift, but the safety features of the tundra appeared to be disabled along with the flashers, turn signals, tach, and speedometer which were inoperative. i live near houston and toyota has this part on backorder nationwide indicating this failure may be common with this and maybe other tundra trucks. when the body computer fails the truck is unsafe to drive yet it can be driven! *tr
Was struck side struck by a vehicle running a red light. my head struck the drivers side window, transported by fire & rescue to local hospital. hospital diagnosis was a "closed wound concussion". other driver was charged on multiple counts. mechanics that repaired my truck estimate the vehicle that hit me was travelling 40-45mph. my airbags did not deploy. impact area on my truck was front driver side quarter panel and front left tire. have viewed a side impact crash test for my make, model and year. in that test the airbags did deploy and the driver dummy hit head in exact location as i did. i would assume the crash test dummy would not have received a concussion due to the protection from the side airbag deployment. one of the reasons for my purchase of this vehicle was the safety aspect. the manufacturer marketed the airbag system as a key selling point. i did have my seat belt on at the time of the crash. i can provide police accident report, photos of both vehicles, repair detail for my truck and personal damage. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota tundra. the contact was braking from 30 mph when the brakes failed to engage. the contact proceeded to crash into the rear of another vehicle. the driver side air bag deployed yet the contact sustained injuries to the shoulder, back and right leg. the vehicle was towed to a garage. the contact's insurance company investigated the failure and determined it was caused by the floor mat becoming lodged between the brake pedal. the failure and current mileage was 3,500.

The brake light and the traction control lights went on one morn. later that evening the accelerator did not disengage. i applied my brakes, and could not stop my 2010 toyota tundra! when i eventually lost control to avoid a collision with other cars on the road. i crashed my truck into a tree and off road into a ditch a 100 yards from the road. *tr
