When you get ready to drive down the road the accelerator is very touch i took it in for the recall but it's still the same very dangerous, the passenger seat belt while the truck is going down the road the seat belt will tighten up so tight its chocking you and it want loosen up unless you uhook it

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 toyota tundra. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled. when the brake pedal was depressed, there was a strong vibration and force had to be applied to the pedal. the vehicle was included in four manufacturer recalls and the contact was uncertain if the failures were related to the recalls. the contact planned to take the vehicle to pedersen toyota (4455 s college ave, fort collins, co 80525, (970) 372-4185) to diagnose the vehicle and complete the recall repairs for nhtsa campaign numbers: 12v491000 (visibility), 11v148000 (tires), 10v017000 (vehicle speed control), and 09v388000 (vehicle speed control). the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 122,900. parts distribution disconnect.

Transmission slipped and vehicle lose of power. dashboard all warning lights began to flash. pulled to side of road. turned off vehicle attempted to reset. managed to get vehicle to nearby parking lot and out of traffic. complete loss of power to drive train. cause was power steering unit sensor per toyota. toyota covered part in attempt to prevent this complaint. from internet, "some 2007-2008 toyota tundra vehicles may experience power steering dtcs p0552 and/or p0553. the power steering sensor has since been changed to correct this condition. the old/previous power steering sensor is p/n 89448-34010. this has been replaced with sensor p/n 89448-34020. using tis techstream, confirm the condition by checking for dtcs p0552 and/or p-553. disconnect the pressure sensor connector and proceed with removing the power steering pressure switch, which is located at the power steering vane pump and is mounted to the high pressure feed line. install the new power steering pressure sensor, tightening to 15.2 ft.-lbs. (20.6 nm). with the new sensor fully installed and connected, start the engine and check for leaks. adjust power steering fluid level as needed."

Toyota dealership inspection reported on 10/05/16 that actuator assembly failed. mileage 122,482. disabiling, abs brake, speedometer, odometer, cruise control, and displaying engine check lights for abs. this occurred one day after replacing water pump, water hoses, serpentine belt, and fluids associated with service. cost estimate $2642.78. started engine and engine indicator lights showed engine check and abs malfunction started moving and speedometer cruise control inop along with odometer.

Cruise control randomly stops working. works perfectly for a few days then quits. sometimes the cruise light is illuminated but the cruise control still does not function. the issue seems to be related to the steering column. sometimes when the steering wheel is turned lock to lock the cruise control then operates normally. local mechanic says this may be the "clock gear" which is very expensive to replace.

2008 toyota tundra 5.7l double cab w/74,500 miles 4hi, 4lo, abs, vsc lights come on and flash at random intervals. the first time this happened, the cruise was set at 65 when all four lights started flashing. all other indications are normal. the truck will not engage 4hi, 4lo or vsc until it is turned off and restarted. the same day after approximately 10 miles of driving all four lights started flashing again, this time the cruise was not engaged. sometimes one or two days pass before it happens again. no error codes are indicated on the computer. *tr

I have been having this on going problem with my 2008 tundra 5.7 4x4 the 4x4 hi/l, vsc, abs are blinking while driving at different times. brought truck in ran test and nothing came back. truck also feels like it bunny hops when going out of first into 2nd gear. toyota still said nothing is wrong. *tr

Was driving 08 tundra up hill around 20 mph and cel vss lights came on lo range light flashing on dash truck lost all power. found out code p2442 secondary air induction system failure put truck into limp mode thousands of dollars in just parts to repair this system. so many people having same problems with same vehicle. toyota should issue a recall and re engineer a remedy for this poor design at no cost to the consumer. i spent alot of money on a truck to avoid these problems, now i have to drive an unsafe truck stuck in limp mode because i do not have the funds to repair, two thousand in just parts, toyota is charging people 4 to five thousand dollars to repair this problem when it should be recalled at no cost to the consumer due to the poor engineering and faulty design on the secondary air induction system pumps and switching valves......i am very surprised and disappointed in toyota for they have always backed up there product but this is a poor product that they are not backing up when they most certainly should stand behind it. also this system should be redesigned to put on check engine light but should not put vehicle in limp mode it is a serious safety issue especially when trying to get on the highway etc..... also the cost and problems of this unneeded system is outrageous, all this system does is force air into the exhaust for the first couple of minutes of engine running at startup. i swore by toyota for over twenty years, not any more , wish i got a chevy. *tr

Check engine light is lit. a few weeks later vsc light started blinking. *tr

The check engine light came on and the vehicle won't accelerate over 45 mph. almost caused me to have an accident. seems like toyota knows about this problem and won't do anything to recall the problem. *tr

On 10-30-11 at approximately 4:35 pm i parked my 2008 toyota tacoma in front of steve's small engine, a business located in monson ma. after placing the vehicle in park, the truck accelerator stuck open and the truck leaped ahead while i had my foot off the accelerator and was depressing the brake as hard as i could push it toward the floor. my vehicle struck a parked pickup truck in the tailgate. i immediately called the monson police dept. and reported the event. the monson police responded and a police report was filed.

Driving along approximately 25 mph depressed accelerator pedal slightly took foot off pedal vehicle continued to accelerate increasing speed. i immediately depressed brake placing vehicle into neutral then again pressing on the accelerator and releasing it. the engine revved back to normal. i then placed it back into drive without further incident. this was the second time this occurred since purchase of this vehicle in 2007. this was the first incident since toyota had honored the recall relating to the accelerator and fixed it, i called the toyota dealership today and will be taking my truck in for them to look at tomorrow. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 toyota tundra. the contact stated that the accelerator pedal became stuck while the contact was driving 40 mph. the contact turned the vehicle off and then back on in order for it to reset itself and began to function normally. the dealers diagnosis indicated that there was no failure. the manufacturer was notified but did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 29,800 and the current mileage was 30,000.

At 9052 miles entered gas station and vehicle unintended acceleration occurred while turning off engine. at 9076 miles parked vehicle in handicapped stall in front of walgreens pharmacy. vehicle had unintended acceleration and was burning rubber and attempted to go forward except i was stepping on the brake as hard as i could and turned off the ignition, otherwise we would have gone thru the front entrance of the pharmacy. the asphalt was dry. there were dark black tire marks on the asphalt from my right rear tire, which also appeared to show wear from burning rubber. this is my 5th unintended acceleration since late oct .mileage 8794. with toyota stating it was an engine misfire. and toyota motors inspecting the vehicle only to say the vehicle is fine. prior complain #10365905. unintended acceleration / intersection / garage door twice while burning rubber.

Unintended acceleration. i was in a stop position waiting for traffic signal to change, when the vehicle wanted to accelerate on it own thru the intersection, while my foot was on the brake. the traffic signal was still red for me. the engine indicator light was on, vsc off, traction control system indicator was also lite. multi-information display mpg gallon gauge was getting stuck at 60miles per gallon. tire pressure sensor keep coming on. veh. started to idle rough. i took my veh. to the toyota dealer for inspection and service. they keep my veh. from approx from oct 29,10 to nov.6,10. toyota dealer response was that the engine had a severe misfire that may have been taken for a slight surge. the #1 & 3 fuel injectors replaced. acceleration pedal replaced. on nov. 13,10 the veh. had unintended acceleration on two separate occasion when parking veh. in driveway. the vehicle was burning rubber while i had foot on brake, because we would have gone thru garage door. i called the toyota dealer from location, who made an appointment for 11-15-10 at 7am. dealer stated that toyota was coming down on thursday 11-18-10 to inspect vehicle. i did not hear a backfire from engine on 1st incident. 2nd incident had two passengers,, and two workers waiting at location who witnessed both incidents. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 toyota tundra. the vehicle was repaired at an authorized dealer under the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 09v388000, vehicle speed control:accelerator pedal. upon receiving the vehicle from the authorized dealer he noticed that the accelerator pedal was made of plastic material. due to the plastic material the accelerator pedal became very slippery. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 2,600.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 toyota tundra. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs under nhtsa campaign id number: 09v388000 (vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal). the contact had not experienced a failure prior to the recall repairs. following repairs, on two occasions while applying the brakes, the vehicle would come to a stop with a sudden, abnormal jolt as if the brakes were locked. the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice and they were unable to locate a failure. the vehicle was left with the dealer for further diagnostic testing. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was approximately 30,432.

Tl* the contact owns 2008 toyota tundra. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall 10v017000; vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal september 8, 2010. the contact stated the original accelerator pedal was modified but the dealership cut too much off and the pedal was too short and high. she wasn't able to reach or maintain her foot on the gas pedal. she was afraid of crashing. the dealer advised they could replace the gas pedal with the modified pedal but it will be smaller and short than the original modification. the manufacturer took a report and advised her that she could have the dealer replaced the gas pedal. the failure and the current mileage were 46,000.

I own a 2008 toyota tundra which i purchased new. from the day i purchased it, the accelerator fluctuated whenever i hit a bump. this was most evident when i started from a stop and hit a bump. i didn't think too much about it until the fluctuation became so bad i thought i would at some point, lose control of the vehicle. i notified toyota about this problem when in 2010, my vehicle was recalled for accelerator problems. toyota replaced the accelerator. i continued to complain about the sensitive accelerator until a district service manager notified me that my vehicle's accelerator was normal. he further indicated that new tundra's had the same accelerator feel as mine. the district manager stated that he had parked my vehicle next to a new vehicle in case i wanted to compare the new vehicle to mine. i did not compare the two vehicles. however, i feel the accelerator in my vehicle is a hazard and should be examined for the safety of those who own toyota tundra's. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 toyota tundra. he stated he received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 09v388000 (vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal) and received repairs under the campaign. the dealer modified the accelerator pedal and shortened the length to prevent possible pedal entrapment by the floor mat. the contact was not satisfied with the length of the pedal and stated his foot would fall underneath the pedal several times while driving. in addition, his shoe strings would also become caught on the accelerator pedal, causing unwanted acceleration. the dealer advised the recall was a one-time repair and would not provide any further assistance. the failure and current mileages were 40,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 toyota tundra. while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. the contact shifted into neutral gear to stop the acceleration. the vehicle was included in recall 10v017000 (vehicle speed control, accelerator pedal) and repaired accordingly prior to the failure. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for another repair. the current mileage was approximately 20,600. the failure mileage was approximately 4,500.

I have a 2008 toyota tundra with approx 48,000 miles. the truck is "limping" around with no power. i cannot drive it on the interstate as it will not go over 45 or 50 mph. it will not accelerate comfortably either, service indicator lights are on. i took it to a local toyota dealer who said that it needs $3300 worth of repairs. i have not had this problem fixed due to the cost. they tell me it is the secondary air injection system and that i need to have 2 pumps and control valves replaced. the computer code it reads is "p2442". there is a tsb on this error (0329-08). after researching these part numbers (17610-0s010 (2 of these) and 25701-38060), there seems to be many consumers with the exact same problem i have. there also seems to be a question of this being a design or engineering failure of these parts. from what i understand, this system failure is part of the emissions system and has no effect on the way the truck runs except it throws the truck into "limp" mode until it is resolved. i was able to disconnect the battery at first to reset the computer and my truck was running fine. now, however, this will not eliminate the problem and i am running around in what i feel is and unsafe vehicle due to fact that it will not accelerate or maintain proper speed for various driving conditions. *tr

2008 toyota tundra. consumer received the floor mat recall and sticking gas pedal recall. *kb the consumer felt he was not being kept abreast about the recalls in a timely manner.

Toyota recall notice for accelerator pedal. not sure what is determined to be a reasonable amount of time for the toyota dealer to schedule repairs. my experience, today(3-22-10) i called for an appointment, an was given a date for three weeks later(4-9-10). if this could be life threating defect, i would think toyota would have dealers on extended hours and saturdays to resolve the problem with the amount of vehicles they have in the recall. *dt

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 toyota tundra. while approaching a traffic light at 10 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal. the accelerator pedal simultaneously fell onto the floorboard but was not depressed. the accelerator pedal became stuck in the open throttle position causing the vehicle to continue to accelerate. the contacts foot remained on the brake pedal the entire time. the vehicle proceeded through the red light. he was able to shift into neutral gear to stop the unintended acceleration. the contact confirmed that the vehicle would be taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the failure and current mileages were 34,560.

I have a toyota tundra 2008, will leaving the bank, i was slowly approaching a stop sign. there was a car in front of me already waiting at the stop sign. i tried to step on the brake, and the floor mat came up over the brake pedal, restricting me from fully pressing down the pedal. i could not stop, i turned my truck to run into the curb and not hit the car in front of me, i hit the curb and ran up on the side walk. while moving slowly i quickly removed the mat from over the pedal, and brought my vehicle to a complete stop. no one was injured, no damage to any property. now i have received a letter from toyota today coincidently asking me to turn in my truck for recall. *tr

Took vehicle to toyota dealership on 3-1-10 for accelerator recall repair. on 3-13-10, during normal operation, several warning lights on dashboard came on and some were flashing as follows: vsc off-flashing, slip indicator-steady on, 4hi-flashing, 4 lo-flashing, abs-steady on. i stopped vehicle and turned ignition off. i restarted the vehicle, all warning lights were off and started driving again. fifteen minutes later the same condition occurred, same warning lights. i stopped the vehicle and turned off the ignition. i called the toyota dealership and the service department said they had no idea what would cause this condition and to continue to drive the vehicle. over the next two days the same condition seemed to recur every time i drove the vehicle. on 3-15-10 the dealership picked up my vehicle for repair. they returned the vehicle to me the same day and told me to continue driving it as they had to order parts (right rear wheel speed sensor) and would call me when the parts came in to schedule repair. over the next 9 days (waiting for parts), condition seemed yet even worse, uneven "jerky" acceleration, unexpected abs activation and/or braking. inermittantly there would sometimes be what sounded like a grinding and/or clunking noise that sounded like it could be coming from the brakes and/or transmission. on 3-24-10 the toyota dealership received the parts (right rear wheel speed sensor) and installed the same. that did not fix the problem. to date (3-31-10) the toyota dealership still has my vehicle, they have replaced the right rear wheel speed sensor, wiring harness to the wheel speed sensor and stated today they will be replacing the wiring harness from the abs modulator to the wiring harness to the wheel speed sensor. i also spoke to the service manager at the dealership today (3-31-10) and he stated they would not return my vehicle to me until the problems are repaired as it is a "safety hazard".

I was at the walmart in bolivar, mo 6:30 pm on march 4th. got in my tundra put it in reverse, backed up and put it in drive. as i pushed on the accelerator to go forward slowly the truck accelerated on its own. i applied the brake and turned left to avoid hitting a car and hit a yellow concrete post while the truck continued to go forward about 20 feet. i then put it in neutral and finally got it to stop. i then tried to open my door and it would not open. i went ahead and drove home about 3 miles and parked the truck. i called my insurance company that night to report the accident and left a message. i called them again the morning of march 5th, 2010 and gave them the details. a claims adjuster has assessed the damage on the body of the truck but those repairs have not yet been completed. on march 11th, 2010 i received a recall notice in the mail from toyota on the truck for a accelerator pedal reinforcement bar installation. i called the dealership that same day to schedule the recall and they said they could not get me in until april. when i told them about the accident they change my scheduled time to that same day, march 11th at 6:00 pm. i drove the truck to the dealership and they installed an accelerator pedal reinforcement bar. i have owned this truck for approximately 2 years and this is the first time the accelerator stuck. i have a flawless driving record and consider myself to be a very careful driver. i am confident this was not a driver error. i was in a busy walmart parking lot directly in front of the entrance of the store so i was naturally being cautious. *tr

Tl* the contact owns 2008 toyota tundra. while driving 65 mph utilizing the cruise control, he noticed that the vehicle was traveling at speeds greater than what was exhibited on the speedometer. prior to the recent failure the contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer where repairs were made under nhtsa campaign id numbers 09v388000 and 10v017000, vehicle speed control:accelerator pedal. the dealer could not duplicate the failure. the current and failure mileages were 11000.

I have 2008 tundra that was recalled for 'acceleration problems' and ostensibly fixed, although i had never experienced "any" problems. now that is has "been fixed" i do have a problem. from a stand-still position, i will depress the accelerator and nothing happens. all of a sudden the accelerator will engage causing my truck to, all of a sudden, jump (accelerate). it doesn't happen all the time....but i'm afraid that it could happen at a stop light where i wish to begin forward - no results and then a possible surge where i could possible hit a vehicle in front of me. *tr

2008 toyota tundra. consumer states floor mat issues interfering with the operation of the accelerator and slow shifting problems*tgw the consumer stated he purchased a full set of all weather mats from the dealer designed for his truck and the mat still did not prevent the pedal from becoming trapped under the mat. the radio was replaced due to an internal short. *jb

Tl* the contact owns 2008 toyota tundra. the contact received notification that his vehicle was under recall (nhtsa campaign id 09v388000: vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal) and took the vehicle into his dealer for repairs. while driving 30 mph, he heard a loud revving noise coming from the engine. the dealer was contacted and a second appointment was made with the dealer for further assessment. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vin was not available when the complaint was filed. the approximate failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 9,000.

The vehicle had been sitting in the driveway overnight. when i got in to go to work in the morning several warning lights were illuminated. the slip, brake, 4x4 hi and lo, vehicle stability control, and lsd lights stayed on until i stopped and turned the vehicle off and then back on. when i restarted the vehicle the lights were out. this has happened six times in the past 12 months. two other times the brake light was on and stayed on until i turned off the vehicle and restarted. there has never been an acceleration issue. on two occasions, while driving on a dry road the traction control engaged and took the power out of the vehicle. on both occasion was driving in town at less than 30 mph. the local dealership has never been able to duplicate the fault. *tr

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) subject: unintentional acceleration event with 2008 toyota tundra, [xxx] , following recall to insert accelerator pedal shim the purpose of this letter is to document and inform you of an 'unintentional acceleration' event that i experienced with my 2008 toyota tundra on the afternoon of february 27, 2010. the event was experienced within 10 minutes/3.5 miles after leaving the dealership following dealer-service work that included, among other items, implementation of the toyota recall to insert the accelerator pedal shim (ssc). this is the only such event experienced to date with this truck. the event with the vehicle parked and the engine idling normally (approximately 800 rpm), i placed my foot on the brake in preparation of shifting the transmission from park to drive. my foot was well centered on the brake pedal and not in contact at all with the throttle pedal. there was no change in engine speed at this point. i then shifted the transmission from park to drive. as soon as the drive position was engaged, with my foot unchanged from its firm position on the brake pedal, the engine speed immediately went to full throttle. as i heard the engine speed up, i applied full pressure to the brake to hold the vehicle in its stationary position. the rear wheels broke loose from the pavement and began spinning; however, the vehicle remained stationary, held by the braking of the front wheels. fortunately, the pavement was wet, which facilitated the rear wheels losing traction with the pavement. i immediately turned the ignition off while the drive position was still engaged. once the engine was shut down, i placed the transmission in the park position. as i never had a chance to place my foot on the throttle pedal before the event occurred, it was not mechanical in nature and can only be attributed to an electrical/control issue. *tr

This compliant compliments the current toyota recall that is related to the sticking accelerator pedal. the pedal in my 2008 toyota tundra does not get stuck at acceleration point but is sticky during the acceleration process. this is a physical issue that is related to the pedal movement as depressed from a stopped position. this has occurred at least 70 % of the time since i owned the vehicle (purchased new). since my vehicle is on the recall list i feel that this is a situation that should also be investigated. my spouse has notice the difference in acceleration varying from a very smooth take off to a harsh jerk and that launches the vehicle forward. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 toyota tundra. while the contact was driving 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning and the brakes would not engage. in order to stop the acceleration the vehicle was placed in neutral gear. the vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the vehicle was working properly. there were no prior warnings and the current and failure and failure mileages were 8,454 updated 4/30/10 *cn updated 06/25/10.*jb

My 2008 toyota tundra had the pedal accelerate as i was backing up at my local grocery store. i had been complaining to my local dealership and they kept informing me nothing was wrong. it wasn't until this happened that they sent a tech out to inspect my vehicle. i am still waiting to hear from the tech. i feel like i keep getting the run around from toyota. i could have been seriously hurt or i could have hurt someone. i continue having problems with the accelerator and nobody wants to take responsibility. what are my options? do i stop driving my only vehicle because it is not safe? *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 toyota tundra. the contact stated while driving 55 mph the vehicle suddenly accelerated up to 76 mph. the vehicle almost caused a crash and resulted in a speeding ticket. the contact stated that the failure could have caused a fatal crash on the highway. the failure mileage was 25,958.

2008 toyota tundra 4wd 5.7l failure began feb of 2010 truck entered "limp mode" and was taken to dealer for diagnostics. problem determined to be "bank 2 valve stuck open for secondary air injection system" on my vehicle. truck has entered in and out of limp mode consistently for up to a week at a time since issue surfaced. during limp mode vehicle cannot accelerate properly and is limited in power and speed, creating many dangerous situations especially involving highway travel. for example, vehicle often cannot accelerate over 50-55mph solely, and i have even become trapped on an interstate at 26mph pulling a trailer. toyota has failed to accept responsibility for problem and denied my claim regarding issue and defect causing the situation. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 toyota tundra. the contact stated that he received repairs to the vehicle under nhtsa campaign id number 09v388000, vehicle speed control, accelerator pedal. after the repairs, the vehicle would exhibit occurrences of abnormal unintended acceleration at speeds of 35-65 mph. the accelerator pedal would constantly move from under his foot. the failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 31,411.

2008 toyota tundra surged forward in a car wash striking the side of the building. building is concrete block and did not sustain any damage. damage to tundra is in excess of $2400. i feel that toyota should cover my $1000 deductible, reimburse my insurance company for the remainder of the body repair and send a letter to my insurance company stating that surge was do to sticky accelerator pedal and was not my fault. *tr

In a 2008 toyota tundra, the accelerator pedal all of a sudden became non-responsive, multiple dash malfunction lights illuminated. when the pedal was pushed the motor would very slowly rev. *tr

I was driving my 2008 toyota tundra on the evening of 1/24/2010. i approached a turn, and removed my foot from the accelerator and applied the brake, but the accelerator remain stuck down, the vehicle's speed exponentially increased and as a direct result i loss control of the truck and slammed into a tree going 65 miles + per hour. the result is that the truck is totaled, i will live with permanent injuries, including broken neck, ribs, hip and partial paralysis. *tr

I have a strong belief after my experience that toyota has a defect with "speed sensor wires' and may know and is keeping it under wraps. maybe because of safety problems or that it's contributing to a short circuit and unintended acceleration as professor gilbert had demonstrated on abc with what could happen with a short circuit in some toyota vehicles. someone from toyota headquarters that was visiting my dealership personally investigated my 2008 tundra's speed sensor wires which on one side had completely failed (snapped completely through) and was failing on the other side (partially broken through) at the same spot. toyota chose to repair both but rather classified the repairs as a 'courtesy replacement' versus under the vehicles warranty. this i have a strong belief was done to keep it off the books back at headquarters and under wraps. this happened in jan of 2010. other indications this is wider spread but unrealized as to being a defect problem: 1) the dealership had to wait a long time because they had a hard time retrieving replacement parts, probably low on stock due to other replacements. 2) the local dealership had repaired another tundra at the same location for the same problem right before mine, which i heard about through a contact. 3) internet search indications. note: at first glance a torn or split wire may appear to have been caused by road debris or in the case of a vehicle crash if wire already was exhibited problems may be thought to have been caused by an impact if discovered after an impact. because of these two reasons if this problem is a defect it may explain why it's not reported so readily. that's my fear. from my findings i'm convinced what is creating this defect is in design. the wire passes through a harness which is clamped down to the frame and the a-arm which pivots up and down tugging on the wire which is also near the hot manifold and after time the constant bending and tugging breaks down the speed sensor wire. *tr

2008 toyota tundra sudden acceleration accident. i was backing into my driveway when the sudden acceleration happened. the engine raced so loud my wife could hear it in the house and thought i had started my tractor. i could not stop the vehicle before it crashed into a couple of cement fence posts. at that time the engine returned to an idle speed. i contacted my local dealer, they did not have any info on this type problem and asked about my floor mats which i do not have in the vehicle. this was not a stuck pedal or floormat issue, and may be different from other accidents as i just put the vehicle in reverse, most accidents i have learned about were traveling forward. to date it is impossible to get through to toyota to report the accident/incident and the local dealer just gives you the phone number to call. when you call they say all representatives are busy and when you go on-line the only information they accept or give is regarding floor mat problems or sticking pedals, neither of which is what i experienced. *tr

Tl*the contact owns 2008 toyota tundra. while driving approximately 60 mph she noticed that the rpms rapidly increased within seconds and the vehicle accelerated from 60 mph to 110 mph. the failure occurred on three occasions. the dealer was unable to determine the failure code; therefore, stated that the failure was caused by the floor mat. report 1001152167 was filed with the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 41,000.

As i was about to complete parking my 2008 toyota tundra in a parking space at northampton high school, northampton, massachusetts the truck suddenly accelerated at a high rate, went over a curb and into a chain link fence doing considerable damage to the fence and truck. i had no control over the truck and hitting the brake was not enough to stop the high acceleration. i finally made the truck stop by shifting into neutral and shutting off the engine. i was very lucky to not have been hurt. if this happened a few seconds earlier i would have hit a group of students walking in the parking lot.the students were in front of my vehicle before i made the right turn into the parking space. it was very scary, i am very nervous now driving the truck. my wife will not drive it. i contacted toyota immediately. they have been very difficult to deal with. not returning phone calls and not meeting dates for what they will do. when i first contacted toyota, the representative said to me "so what do you want toyota to do" after i described what happened and how lucky i was not to be hurt or hurting students in a high school parking lot. i have owned toyota vehicles since 1970 - they seem to have little concern for my loyalty or the stress this incident has caused me and my family. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 toyota tundra. the contact stated that when depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would accelerate at a rapid speed. the dealer made repairs to the vehicle under nhtsa campaign id number 09v388000 (vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal). the recall repair did not correct the failure. the manufacturer was not notified. the contact confirmed that she had previously filed 13 complaints on the vehicle. the failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 13,000.

As i arrived at my home and drove up into my driveway i experienced an unexplained acceleration on my 2008 toyota tundra that made me react to slam on the brakes and cause the truck to slide on an unpaved (dirt) surface in my yard and slide into the trunk of a pine tree and damaging the front bumper to my truck. i heard on the news that there was a recall for the floor mats on this vehicle to be removed if it did not have clips to hold the mat in place. my truck does have the clips to hold the mat in place and prevents the acceleration pedal from getting lodged with the mat. i do believe the acceleration problem was caused by an unknown defect and not the floor mat. currently, the floor mat remains in place on its clips without interference to the acceleration pedal. today, i received a recall letter from toyota to remove the floor mat, therefore, i will. again i don't believe the floor mat was the problem. i just want this complaint documented because it caused around $500 worth of damaged to my truck. *tr
