While driving my 2007 tundra with only 62k miles, the anti-lock brake system (abs) controller failed, causing all four wheels (brakes) on my 2007 tundra to lock up in traffic almost causing an accident. thankfully, i was on a country road with little traffic. the lockup occurred when i touched the brakes to slow down. things would have been dramatically different if i had been on a freeway traveling at a higher speed. dealer replacement cost estimate: $3700. only cause given for the failure was "age".

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota tundra. while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the subframe underneath the vehicle was corroded, even though an anti corroding agent had been applied to the vehicle. in addition, the brake pads, rotors, and calipers had to be replaced prematurely on multiple occasions. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a dealer who both confirmed that the corrosion was past the point of repair and that a new subframe would be needed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 50.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota tundra. the contact stated that while replacing the brakes on the vehicle he noticed that the rear discs brakes were cracked. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing. the technician stated the rear discs brake needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 64,000.
Almost uncontrollable vibration when applying brake pressure at speeds greater than 40 mph but the vibration is present at any speed. the problem felt like possibly warped rotors so the rotors and brake pads were replaced with new to no avail. the problem remains at any speed and is very much a safety concern. *tr
Was on my way to a job-site on the freeway between 9am-10am appox. going 65 miles an hour in the fast lane. there was a concrete wall on my left and a suv on the right. the suv started coming into my lane i put my brakes on suddenly to have the impact be at a slower speed but as i pushed down on them they fell to the floor so i was taken out at 65 miles an hour. the man was a rn nurse who pulled a graveyard shift and was dosing off. he admitted it was his fault and the cop said no report would be made because the law is no ambulances no report. i demanded a report and he said that is california's new law. told toyota about the brakes falling to the floor. there answer is " that it was normal". they inspected the engine for damage. they never inspected the brakes.. i am now going through toyota corporation demanding brake inspection! truck went to the body shop to be repaired.... *js
Was turning left at at an intersection had a green arrow when someone went through a red light . when i started to brake my brake fell to the floor with no brakes at all was in a head on collision. after the police came and talked with both of us, the other party admitted guilt so since there were no ambulances and the other party stated guilt (no police report was made). i brought the car into toyota and asked about the brake falling to the floor the next day . their answer was" it was normal!" they checked the engine for damage . then it went to mikes autobody for body damage. they never inspected the brakes, as they felt it was not an issue.
The parking brake does not hold the truck. right from the day i drove it off the dealer lot it was weak. on steep hills it was questionable when pointing up the hill and would not hold pointing down. had dealer look at it and dealer said it was fine. since then (multiple times) it has gotten to the point that it is completely ineffectual. after adjustment it will hold on a slight hill but not a steep hill and never when in gear. at 32000 miles would not hold at all even after adjustment. so new parking brake shoes etc and it won't hold. mechanic adjusted the brakes the most possible (so it won't drag and overheat) and does not hold. note that pedal has been adjusted so that the parking brake pedal does not hit the floor. only goes about 1/2 way down which is correct. i see this problem reported all over the internet but only one complaint in the nhtsa data base? *tr
