This is not a complaint about a specific incident; it's a complaint about how long it's taking for toyota to implement its recall. toyota's instructions advise no one ride in the front seat until the repairs are made to the airbags. it has been almost 5 months since the recall. my four person car has been a three person car since the recall went into effect it has rendered us unable to drive our family of four effectively denying us the benefit of the bargain of the vehicle we purchased. this delay is inexcusable.

I received a recall after being assigned to gtmo cuba. i have had many honda vehicles have their air bags that were recalled replaced here in guantanamo bay, cuba. i contacted toyota and got no response on sending a representative to repair any vehicles on this military installation. i have sent several email with no avail. please assist all us faulty toyota owners in cuba. honda has stepped up on several occasions to help sailors and soldiers here protect their families.

A 1992 ford f-250 (2 door) towing a portable cement mixer, estimated weight @350-450 pounds, crossed the center line and struck a 2006 toyota tundra crew cab (4 door) head on. both vehicles estimated speed was 50 mph. all drivers and passenger were wearing seat belts, airbags did deploy. the f-250's driver sustained 1 detached rib plus cuts and bruises. in the toyota, the following injuries occurred: passenger: broken left ankle, 7 broken ribs, sternum and clavicle fractures, 7 inch leg laceration, 5 inch hand laceration, cuts & bruises. driver: broken right ankle, brain contusion/concussion (visible impact spot on windshield - see below), broken rib, cuts and bruises. toyota's occupants confirmed that the engine/transmission intruded about 2 feet into the passenger compartment, consistent with the ankle injuries. it also appears from photos that the windshield was pushed back into the driver, although the belt and airbag could have not provided adequate protection also. frontal photos of the toyota show, apparently, that the bodywork detached from the frame - the front of the frame is clearly visible & does not look seriously damaged, with the bodywork (including the bumper) pushed back substantially. it seems to me there are several possible defect/design issues here: 1. engine and transmission came straight back and did not deflect downwards, causing the lower extremity injuries. 2. multiple rib injuries despite occupants being belted suggests excessive airbag inflation pressure. 3. body to frame attachment failure, exacerbating intrusion of engine and frontal collapse/compression. the accident was investigated by the california highway patrol (report available) and occurred on state route 178 on may 27, 2015, about 25 miles east of bakersfield, california.

Takata recall. the recall started almost a year ago for the los angeles area. the suggestion toyota gave me until the inflator is available is to transport no person in the front passenger seat. this is our adventure vehicle: snowboarding, kayaking, road biking, mountain biking, camping, scuba diving, etc. i do all of the things with my wife and friends. am i really expected to transport no one in the front passenger seat for this long? it is completely unfair to put my family and friends either at risk or to make it almost impossible to use my truck the way it was intended to be used. my complaint is that it is taking too long to get the inflator needed for toyota to fix this dangerous problem.

Takata recall - because the recall notice sent by toyota advises that i not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat, i have had only limited use of the vehicle for nearly six months. i filed a complaint with toyota, asking that they provide a replacement vehicle or buy the vehicle back (toyota case #1511190602. since the vehicle can not be used as intended, it is my opinion that toyota should be required to offer resonable compensation and/or an amicable solution. further, it is my understanding that the problem with the airbag is more likely to fail in areas prone to high humidity. for most of the year, this truck is parked within 50 feet of lake erie - from may to september - normal daily humidity is generally over 80% toyota should be required to offer compensation - this is a serious defect. to so drastically limit the owners use of the vehicle with no known date for a solution is not acceptable. again, toyota should be required to offer fair financial compensation or a comperable loaner vehicle (including suitable insurance coverage) to the vehicle owner's satisfaction.

I was informed of the recall in the summer of 2014. it has been nearly a year and a half since the notification. i was told parts were ordered and i would be notified and scheduled for replacement when the parts arrived. i've contacted dealers multiple times and was told the same thing, when parts arrived. the initial letter told me not to have anyone ride in the passenger seat (for a year and a half.) i think i've been patient long enough.when this all started i was in lexington ky. i am currently in okeechobee fl. i've contacted dealers in each area.

The truck was involved in a roll over and complete loss of the truck. at the time of the accident, which was a major accident the air bags did not deploy.

I have a friend who had a 2006 toyota tundra that was involved in a serious accident. the trucked rolled over from front to back and coming to a rest on all 4 wheels. the side impact air bags deployed but the fronts did not. the vehicles dashboard was blow apart upon impact and the front end is completely smashed in. *tr

My complaint is against the ruling. "the national highway traffic safety administration has ruled that toyota must recall nearly 160,000 tundra pickups built between 2003 and 2005 in order to deactivate the front-seat passenger air bag cut-off switch in each truck. the tundra's fail to meet any nhtsa regulations that require vehicles equipped with air bag cut-off switches to also have latch (lower anchorages and tethers for children) systems. deactivating the cut-off switches was deemed less expensive than retrofitting the tundra's with the latch system." great ruling, how does this protect my 6 year old sitting in the front, in a booster seat using the seat belt. booster seats don't require a latch system but his weight is below what is considered safe for airbag deployment. my scenario is exactly what the cutoff switch was intended for, my 6 year old occasionally riding in the front with me. this ruling has caused toyota to factory disable the front switch in my '06 double cab tundra, making the front seat very unsafe for a child in a booster seat. way to go, thanks for thinking of everything. *jb

Takata inflator recall toyota dealers have not replaced the recalled inflators on my vehicle. this puts us in danger of aforementioned air bag inflator, causing a dangerous injury. we need assistance.
