The UNKNOWN OR OTHER
2006 Toyota Tundra

Structural frame rusted through. toyota dealer sprayed frame in 2014 and said the frame would be fine as of four years ago the frame has rotted through under the drivers side. some structural supports also rotted on the frame. contact with toyota customer service and with the dealer it's frustrating and non-productive .when the dealer sprayed the frame they failed to plug all the holes in the frame. at this point there is no additive or sealer that the dealer sprayed on the frame it has all washed away. i can actually place four fingers thru the bottom of the frame. this has been ongoing since 2017 when i first notice the rot.*dt*jb*dt consumer stated frame and trailer hitch was rusted.*jb

A light came on and it started losing power. took it to the shop and was told it was bad gas. i put the cleaner in it and it didn't fix it. i had some buddies tell me to unplug my battery because it sounded like a safety feature. so i did. the light went off and the truck acted right for a few miles then started doing the same thing. vehicle was in motion on the highway. my buddies referred to it as a "limp mode" or something like that. i was afraid to have it worked on because i was told if there was a recall the manufacturer wouldn't be liable.

While traveling at 70 mph on a congested highway, the engine suddenly made loud noise then stalled. no engine or maintenance lights illuminated and there was no warning. the vehicle was very narrowly able to be controlled to a stop. braking was diminished due to engine stall and steering was also compromised. once removed to a safe location it was discovered that the left intake spring broke in half allowing the valve to descend into the cylinder, struck the piston, rebounded, struckthe cam shaft and bent. the cost of repairs are estimated at 9k. internet research has indicated multiple complaints from across the country of identical failures.

The frame on my o6 tundra is deteriorated badly tire shop wouldn't perform work requested. my question is you send recalls for airbags etc. for the safety of passengers what about everyone on the roads safety. toyota should be responsible for this as they were with many other models. this should be looked at for the safety of everyone on the road.

My 2006 tundra double cab 4.7l limited 4wd has a significantly large cut on the frame due to rust. the cut starts on the frame from the bracket holding the sway bar link back to the crossmember frame. this rust is spreading and is extremely dangerous for me and my family. this vehicle is my daily commute vehicle and i live in a northern region of the us where salt is used on roads during the winter. the vehicle history has always been from the northern region. please contact me regarding a frame recall or replacement as soon as possible as this is a very concerning safety issue for myself and my family.
