Rear leaf spring, recall: 14v-604. on july 10th of 2016 i made a call to elk grove toyota in regards to the recall. the service writer ask me if my truck had a level kit installed ? i told him yes, 2'. he told me it voided the recall. i did sone research and found many customers had the same situation, but others did not. their dealership replaced and took care of the recall even with a level kit installed. in different parts of the states and country. i called again on 3/25/19 to elk grove toyota again and was told the same. my recall is void because of the level kit. the dealership is in elk grove, ca. if they won't perform the recall is there a way i can have another shop perform the recall and toyota paid them ? please advice

Rusted front end passenger side component broke of the frame due to corrosion. toyota warranty for repair expired 31 january 2019 and vehicle was taken to toyota 2 months later and toyota will not honor repair. very disappointing on toyotas end. the rusted frame takes longer than 2 months to corrode. toyota care not willing to work with me and fix there faulty and very unsafe product!

Buena park toyota refuses to fix the recall on my truck. they say it because i don't have the original shocks. my truck was purchased from buena park toyota as a certified used vehicle and i haven't made any changes to the truck. the way it sits now is the way i bought it from the dealership as a certified vehicle. the rear leaf spring has hit the fuel take a few times and bottoms out on every little bump (which is what the recall is for) and everything on the rear suspension is exactly the way it came from toyota. they told me if i wanted to have the items replaced i would have to put all the oem stuff back on the vehicle but that's the way this dealer sold it to me.

I was first notified from toyota via mail of a recall on my truck around nov 2016. i've spent from them until now trying to get cain toyota of north canton ohio to do the repair. i was told several times they had to order the parts. i also explained to them there is an "add a leaf" on my truck. the truck is lifted 3". i said i'm not paying for anything here this is a full recall under toyota. we scheduled an appointment for july 7th at 7:30am. i get there and they refuse to do the work without me paying due to the "add a leaf". they have wasted 9 months with this as myself, my wife and 3 young children ride in this truck everyday! i'm extremely disappointed with how cain toyota has handled this issue. we are now at risk due to cains refusal to repair this at toyota's recall expenses. i will also be calling toyota corporate to place a formal complaint as well.

Took my truck to dealership for leaf spring recall. they checked vin ,and gave me a courtesy car while they do the wor. they called me later in day and said they wont do it due to my truck being modified (lifted). now yes my truck is lifted, however there is no modification to the springs. there is blocks in the rear that simply let the springs mount on the top of the block instead of the top of the axle and does not affect or change any dynamics or function to the springs. i dont feel this is right, with this being a life saftey issue. my truck is part of the recall and my springs are week and a saftey hazzard.

I took my truck to malloy toyota for frame inspection regarding the limited service campaign eod- frame rust recall. dealer informed me there was rust, but no perforations. they recommended coating the frame with compounds. i feel that my truck may not have perforations, but it is just a matter of time before the frame becomes perforated, resulting in a dangerous / unsafe vehicle. putting the compunds on the frame is a quick band-aid and does not fix the problem. this frame will become unsafe, it is just a matter of time. this will not only potentially jeopardize the safety of my family / occupants in the vehicle, but also the others that share the road with my truck.

2006 toyota tacoma. consumer writes in regards to replacement frame never ordered by dealership to repair frame and leaf springs corrosion recall notice. *smd

Took truck in for frames inspection--dealer says i get a new frame--no cost. dealer is backing out of their word because campaign ended 3 months later--was told campaign would be good for several more year. service adviser never checked ending date. emergency brake cables are rusted again--fixed several times--poor product. rear differential cover plug rusted beyond able to remiove to change fluid--another huge rust issue with tacoma trucks--not just the frame. the steering mechanism, timing belt pulleys, wiring supports, etc --anything that is metal is corroded because of the poor quality of steel--just not the frame. the timing pulleys were so corroded that they cut my bel--lucky for me it still had 50% of it remaining and did not blow engine--truck had 63,000 miles on it at time. told to bring truck in for rear springs campaign--i did--they don't have the in stallion kits--been back ordered for months. campaign says they could rupture the gas tank and end in disaster--any you don't have parts!!!

I do not think you are taking the rotted frame issue on the tacoma seriously i have read the countless complaints all stating the same problems and the same lack of respect from toyota about dealing with this problem that they have created. i"m starting to think this nhtsa is a puppet agency for the manufacturers. someone is going to get killed if the problems with the frams are not fixed. what will the nhtsa say then.sorry we should have acted sooner! alot of comfort that will be.

Nh state inspection failed my 2006 tacoma due to holes in the frame i contacted toyota about this problem and they told me its my problem not theirs since the sprayed the frame previously. well the spray did not work and the frame still rotted so why are they not being force to fix the faulty frame that they knew was a problem since they have had this come up in the past. this is a serious safety issue that needs to be addressed by your agents.

Toyota issued a voluntary recall on frame rust issues, and applied my vehicle with a corrosion protective compound in oct 2014 (dealer in buffalo ny). in june 2015, i noticed increasing rust areas on my suspension mounting points, frame members and other areas. went back to the different toyota dealer (in kentucky) and was told that the frame was not cleaned correctly when undercoated. toyota customer experience center said their obligation was only to coat the frame and not necessarily do it correctly. the coating is a one time service and is to prevent rusting. they mentioned that they will not provide me with supporting data on their claim that the coating prevents rusting. they have taken a perfectly fine frame and made it rust now, and unsafe to use

I took my toyota tacoma 4x4 to rice toyota dealership and was told that they needed to check vehicle frame and leaf springs because of a recall on my vehicle. i was then contacted and told my vehicle had severe amount non standard rust but passed the toyota assessment for replacement. upon arrival to my house, i inspected the vehicle myself and found it to have an extreme amount of corrosion on the frame. i then followed up with rice and had them do a follow up inspection on the frame at their collision center. i was then told that they had taken pictures of the frame and that their were high quantities of rust and corrosion that were way above the normal expectation of wear for the vehicles mileage and age. they told me that the frames of these vehicles would most likely rust through in a few years and be a hazard. i then contacted the warranty personnel at toyota. i spoke with two individuals and was told that i had no recourse for any repair and that i was just out of luck even though the vehicle is part of a recall for leaf springs and corrosion of the frame. not sure how to follow up but i do know that this model and year is subject to extreme frame rust leading to leaf spring collapse which poses a risk to the driver. seems that a frame that is clearly admittedly documented as sub par should be remedied prior to potential incident. *tr
