2001 toyota sienna le, purchased new, started having problems. "check engine" light came on when vehicle had approximately 25,000 plus/minus miles. under warranty, toyota dealership replaced the oxygen sensor without a charge. however, during this process, the "beep" signal you hear when locking-unlocking the vehicle with remote key was disappeared. this is also fixed under warranty. the "check engine" light came on again when the vehicle had about 35,000 miles. toyota dealership said it is due to a dirty vacuum hose, they cleaned it with a charge little over $100.00. the next day the "check engine" light came on again, this time the toyota dealership said they need to replace the charcoal canister (parts free, but we have to pay labor--about $100.00). this thing causes extreme mental distress, time, money, security etc.*jb

At 54,525 miles, the check engine light came on. it was diagnosed as "replace air/fuel sensor b1 s1." failure caused excessive damage because the sensor fused into the rear exhaust manifold. diagnostic testing $ 49.00 sensor replacement part 227.52 " " labor 150.00 rear exhaust manifold 154.21 rear exhaust manifold gasket 29.27 repair was not done at a toyota dealership. i am reporting this so that toyota will change the design. failed part should not damage surrounding structures. suggest recall on this part if toyota continues to use this design. *nm

Dt: the contact owns a 2001 toyota sienna. the fuel air sensor failed. also, fuel sensor failed in contact's son's 2001 toyota highlander which had the same mileage. called toyota, and they said there were no recalls . had both parts replaced, $282.00 each. now the ignition has failed. *ak *nm

I fllled the fuel tank on 26 nov 2003, and drove the vehicle 13 miles. it remained parked in the driveway, which slopes toward the rear at about 20 degrees, until 28 nov 2003 at 12:30 pm. there was at that time raw gasoline dripping in teaspoon to tablespoon quantities from a line in front of the fuel tank to the driveway, with a puddle about 18 by 28 inches. i drove the vehicle about 1 mile with the engine running smoothly, after which for about 4 miles the engine hesitated and surged at speeds over 35 mph. the remainder of the 10 mile trip, the engine ran smoothly again. later that day, the service rep called to tell me they had completed diagnostic testing which showed a defective charcoal canister, which needed to be replaced for $552.76, at 62,612 miles. the repair report states that the charcoal canister was saturated with raw fuel. this is an obvious safety hazard.*ak

Fuel injectors fail intermittently. *ak

Electrical system containing fuel injector relay failed. fuel injector stopped working and car lost power on highway. replacing relay and fuse by dealership did not fix problem, ended up failing again after being returned from dealership. *ak
