We were driving down the hill and the traction control system went crazy we skidded out and then the abs and traction control/slip lights went on. they stayed on until we took it to the dealer and they replace some brake sensors that were corroded. on the way home it happened again. the traction control computer was reporting that there were still bad sensors, but the sensors were fine, so they replaced the entire traction control computer. after a week in the shop it finally came back working. a traction control system should not throw your car out of control and run you off the road. the dealer said that they had not seen so much corrosion under a vehicle before. they said that the frame, exhaust, spare tire, and brake components as well as various other electrical components looked to have what they would call excessive corrosion. they said i should take it up with whom i bought it from. i think this is the same problem as the tundras are having with corrosion and should be looped into the same investigation. the sequoia, i was told when i bought it, was designed on the same frame, and drive train as the tundra which would explain why the corrosion is effecting similar braking systems and the spare. i would love for someone to investigate this. i would have hated for anything to happen to my family which was in the car with me. *tr
I have a 2001 toyota sequoia, purchased used in 2004. in 2006, the abs, vsc, brake lights began to light up intermittently. after a few months, they came on & stayed on. the dealer did a diagnostic test and said it was a computer problem and would cost $2500+ to fix. this seems like a major design flaw by toyota, and causes an extremely unsafe condition. i would expect a recall due to the number of similar complaints.
My traction control lights come on, noise is sounding and the truck is shaking violently during acceleration. it occurs very often in all types of weather and roads. it's an unsettling feeling since it's my family vehicle and the lives of my loved ones are in this vehicle. i have taken it to be looked at and nothing has been found to be the problem. this is a huge safety issue and something needs to be done to resolve this issue before lives are lost! *tr
Since i purchased the car in 12/2000 (2001 toyota sequoia sr5 4x4) i have had the following recurring issues, which were brought up with the dealer on multiple occasions with no remedy: 1) trac and vsc lights going on/off with no error codes thrown 2) oil pressure gauge reading off-line low with no error codes thrown to date, the issues above have not caused a crash or bodily injury, but as this is my family car (two young children) it has been concerning. i have been following the issues with this car, my 01-07 and they seem to be known issues which have actually resulted in fire/crash. i cannot fill out the incident date accurately below as this has been happening for a number of years (since delivery of the vehicle). *tr
