Purchased a new 2010 corolla. driving home from work last week, i had two service lights on (my car has 1400 miles on it). the steering in the car seemed "loose" as i drove home, but when i went to turn on my street, the steering wheel did not turn and the abs failed. i hit a curb on the opposite side of the road damaging a strut and an alloy wheel. my local dealer, lakeland toyota, told me it was not their problem but that i needed to figure out how to pay for the repairs. they told me that they had no idea why those two warning lights were on. i am currently trying to work with toyota corporate to get this resolved in a manner that i will feel safe driving the car. kind of hard to do when they refuse to accept that there is a problem. *tr

In my 2010 toyota corolla xle with 2382 miles on it, i experienced brake failure and difficulty steering while descending down a slight grade. there was no braking action when i pushed the brake pedal as far as it could go. simultaneously heard a loud scraping sound and detected an odor. reported incident to the dealer immediately. *tr

In october 2009 i bought a new 2010 toyota corolla from sansone route 1 toyota in avenel new jersey. february 22 2010 i brought the corolla to this dealership for a fix related to the acceleration recall. i also filed a complaint with them about the power steering. after 90 minutes they said they could not find anything wrong with the power steering.they gave me this in writing. they also wrote that they fixed the acceleration problem. i took the car and 4 minutes later i hit another car because the acceleration increased by itself. the car is being repaired by my insurance company. toyota should be responsible for the 8600 dollars of repairs . i am injured . is toyota responsible? my phone number is [xxx]. please contact me and tell me what to do. i tried to reach toyota s 800 number but so far i have waited 3 hours and nobody answers. thank you. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Toyota recall, how can you expect us to bring our vehicle in for this recall to put on precision-cut steel reinforcement bar on accelerator when ceo of toyota can't guarantee the problem will not be solved? this was stated on nation wide tv. this car was purchased for my college student daughter and i will not let her drive it as i do not feel she will be safe. what are my options? *tr

I was making a routine turn and lost control of steering. it only happened the one time, police report said car rolled two or three times, total loss to car and injury to driver. i don't remember exactly the cause other than i lost control. can't say any of the recalls did or did not cause the accident. my primary complaint is that i paid for front and side airbags, and none deployed on a car that rolled two or three times. why am i paying for equipment that is not effective? if a car rolls over at minimum the side airbags should have deployed. i would also think this would trigger the other air bags. with all the recalls how would we know if any of these contributed to the crash? i understand the rollover rating applies to the stability of the car, but rating the safety in a rollover accident should also be rated. why don't air bags deploy automatically when car hits sides or the roof? we paid for safety and reliability of the toyota, but it appears that the extra money is wasted. *tr

On 2/8/10 toyota performed a recall repair of the gas pedal on my 2010 toyota corolla. after the repair was finished, i noticed that the engine idle speed was higher and the vehicle took longer to stop when the brakes are applied. *tr

I have a 2010 toyota corolla. dec.24 2009 was a report of the first failure. i was driving out of a residential parking lot and applied my brakes before i approached the street and my car ended up accelerating hitting the passenger door of another vehicle. moreover if i drive over a bumpy surface or pot hole my pedals start to kick back or vibrate. don't know what to call it. also i have 2 recalls for my vehicle according to toyota service center. after fixing my recall i now have a new problem with my car. it makes squeak sounds and squeals as i apply my foot on the accelerator. i took it back to the toyota service center on mar.2 and they told me after waiting 2 hours that nothing was wrong with my car and put on my service receipt as "normal noise". also regarding the accident a toyota inspector from corporate inspected my car before my recall was fixed and despite the two recalls said that my vehicle has no problems and the accident had nothing to do with it. i now drive a 2010 toyota corolla that squeals and squeaks every day and my insurance company is fighting property damage and bodily injury claims from the driver i struck on the passenger side and everything appears to be my fault and not toyota. im in such distress with toyota i don't know what more to do. i gave them chance after chance to help me but its just getting worse. this is my first new car and also my first accident i ever had. im scared that i have to pay 20,000 for the next five years for a defected car. please help! *tr

The braking on my 2010 toyota corolla le seems to be defective. when approaching any type of change in the road surface that requires me to put my foot lightly on the brake a vibration and weird feeling in the brake pedal take place. it's startling when it happens. my wife has experienced it from the passenger side and is afraid to drive it. i've expressed my concern to the dealership. they say it's normal. very concerned about the safety of this car . i bought a toyota for it's safety and reliability so far i'm very disappointed. *tr
