I have to set my toyota corolla in the garage, and i had to use public transportation while these issue will be solve. i use this vehicle to transport my family of 5, to work, for school and weekends. i could not sale my car in a good price because, the possible buyers know about the recall and they offer me less money for my toyota corolla. practically i lost a lot of money due to this recall. also i have issues with the body paint due the car is parking on a out side parking, the rain, the sun and the weather condition is damaging my car. in conclusion, buying this car result in lost a lot of money,

Rear gas tank support strap corroded. replaced by dealer. noticed during scheduled service.

I was pulling into my parking spot at about 2 to 3 miles per hour as i was stepping on the brake pedal the car accelerated as if someone had push the gas pedal with 1000lbs of force. the car literally flew over the curve onto some bushes over the sidewalk sideswiped a light poll and onto the street the car slowed down when i was on the street. during this whole time my foot was on the brake pedal all the way down but the car would not stop, there are skid marks that show that and when i stopped my brakes where smoking and there was a very strong smell of burning brakes. please advise me on what to do because i do not want to drive this car anymore, i am very scared. *tr

As i approached traffic lights, i had to apply the brakes as yellow light was on but the car was still accelerating. even after the brakes were completely applied, it went forward. to my bad, it was a snowy day in my place and my car skidded in to the left turn lane, got crashed in to the other car. my car's front bumper, head lights and couple of other parts were replaced for which i have spent $500 out of my pocket and the remaining amount was paid by my insurance company. luckily there were no injuries to me, my 7 month pregnant wife and the other car driver. obviously my insurance premium got increased, my driving history was affected and car value is decreased due to accident history. my car tires and brakes were in perfect condition when this incident happened. now i am afraid to drive my car especially when it approaches traffic lights i feel extremely nervous. whenever i recollect this bad moment i feel depressed. please look into the issue. requesting toyota to do the needful to remove such defects from their vehicles. *tr

On march 12, 2015, at approximately 11:00 a.m, i received a phone call from sacramento police department stating that my vehicle was struck by a solid waste vehicle. i called the city of sacramento and even emailed the city of sacramento and i received no response. i picked up a copy of the police report on 04/01/2015. the name of the driver that struck my vehicle is [xxx]. the truck that struck my vehicle is a 2012 newway recycle truck (blue). according to the police report, [xxx] was distracted by a man who walked up to him and "started talking to him about a tv". i contacted [xxx] (integrated waste supervisor) and i was told that i would have to cover all expenses out of pocket including deductible, and rental car for the entire time it takes to fix my car. i explained to enrique that i did not believe it was fair that his driver struck my vehicle and i need to pay for it. enrique said he was sorry but that was the way the city works. i told enrique that i may need to get a lawyer. enrique's response was "go ahead". information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I stopped at a gas station to fill my gas tank and while this was being done i heard a loud bang similar to a gunshot. when i started my car there was a loud rattling sound. i stopped the car and got out to look underneath but couldn't see anything hanging. since i was near home i started the car and drove slowly home. i took it to the dealer the next day and they repaired the gas tank strap passenger side. i told them i considered this to be a design defection and a safety issue. they stated there has been no recall despite the fact that they had seen quite a few of the same problems. i had to pay for the repair. toyota corp has refused to reimburse me for the repair because my car is out of warranty. i have had many cars and have never had this problem before. i am told that there is a drivers side strap as well so i suppose i can look forward to this happening again plus since it is due to corrosion i can expect this to happen again in about five years. i do not know how likely this is to lead to the gas tank dropping but i don't feel to good about it. *tr

This car only has 65,000 miles on it and has hardly been driven given the fact that it is 4 years old. i heard a loud rattling noise and took it to a mechanic. he told me that a bolt came off the heat shield by the gas tank. i'm surprised that such a lightly driven car could already have such expensive problems. as stated here, toyota has a new design for heat shield which clearly gives problems: http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2007/toyota/corolla/10454289.aspx. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota corolla. the vehicle was purchased brand new in 2007. two months after the vehicle was purchased, the factory alarm system engaged intermittently. the dealer repaired the alarm failure. in september of 2011, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. on february 21, 2012, a warning indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle rolled backwards without warning while parked. the dealer test drove the vehicle and determined that the vehicle was functioning as designed. the dealer produced a failure code detected for the torque converter clutch lock up and recommended that the transmission assembly be replaced. on february 24, 2012, an ecm recall repair was performed. also in 2012, the contact noticed rust on the hood of the vehicle and small white circles (the size of basketballs) on the rear bumper and trunk. two years later, leopard like spots were present on the roof of the vehicle. the manufacturer and dealer were notified of the defects. the manufacturer scheduled an appointment with the dealer in december of 2016 for diagnostic testing. the dealer determined that there were only paint chips on the vehicle and failed to include the extensive amount of rust on the roof. the service manager informed the contact that they would use oxidation on the vehicle regarding the rust. the manufacturer stated that the paint used on the vehicle was environmentally safe. in addition, the contact received a recall notice for the air bags. it was unknown if the notice pertained to the passenger or driver side air bag. the nhtsa campaign numbers and failure mileage were not provided. the vin was invalid.

Check engine light came on 11/14/10 and car started slam shifting, and died on freeway. the car started again, and i took it to xx in moreno valley next day. dealer said faulty ecu (dtc p2716) and the part must be ordered. i asked if they could provide a loaner car because i don't feel safe driving the car with a faulty ecm. i was told part will most likely be in tuesday or wednesday. the dealer said a loaner car would not be provided unless the car totally stop operating. i live in san bernardino and work in moreno valley, approx 26 miles one way. i have aaa towing basic for 6 miles. i would usually purchase aaa southern ca automobile club towing for up to 100 miles, but because i bought a new reliable toyota, i just got the basic towing in case the battery died. i don't have towing to get the car to moreno valley in case it completely stops running. i'm worried about safety and logistics! i don't trust this toyota corolla. dealer will not keep the car and give me a loaner until the part arrives. will toyota be responsible if this car stalls again in traffic and causes an accident? will toyota be responsible if this car needs to be towed to the dealer? will toyota be responsible if the transmission becomes damaged from the hard shifting? will toyota be responsible if the car catches fire from faulty electrical wiring? this corolla has had brake and steering problems. brake fluid always low, although brakes verified as repaired and okay by technician. the wheel bearing on the front driver's side wheel is going bad and the tire will not hold air. the tire has been examined and is good. i smell electrical burning once in awhile. the belt tensioner pulley bearing bad. occasionally, smell antifreeze, which indicates a leaking head gasket. wind noise, windows creak when moved up/down. the locks squeak. the interior rattles. the paint job is runny, weld points are sloppy. car stalling, slam shifting, then cutting off. the car has a little over 50,000 miles. *tr

The automatic gear select cover is chrome in the s model toyota corolla and during noontime hours when the sun is high, the cover reflects the sunlight and reflects into the eyes. at 1:00pm, the sun was reflecting off of the chrome cover. as i attempted to cover it with a paper bag, my foot came off of the brake pedal and the creep of the vehicle caused a collision with the vehicle in front at a stop sign. this is the second time such an accident has occurred. the first time was also during the summer at 1:15pm 2 years ago when i attempted to cover the glare with my backpack. since that incident, i have always brought a hat that i use to cover the chrome gear select cover. on this day, however, i had forgot to bring my hat which would have prevented the glare shining directly into the eyes. the chrome gear select cover is a safety hazard that causes distractions and visibility issues. *tr

This is an addendum to complaint odi # 10204519.. i was at deluca toyota today to have my tire problem checked again ( complaint odi# 10200011), and i explained to the service person garry bradley about the problem with not being able to read the speedometer once the tilt wheel was tilted in a safe and comfortable position for me to drive.. he explained that there was nothing they could do since this was considered a "design flaw".. they gave me a car to drive while they were inspecting my 2007 corolla and this car a 2008 toyota solara has the exact same "design flaw".. once the wheel is tilted so that i can drive safely and comfortably i can only see " 0-20 mph on the left side of the speedometer" and on the right side i can only see " 140 mph and more", anything in between 20 mph & 140 mph is not visible to me.. i guess toyota is discriminating against all of us that are short or we shouldn't drive their cars if we want to be safe.. i feel that this is a severe safety issue.. why put the tilt wheel option in their vehicles if you cannot use them safely.. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota corolla. on the day the vehicle was purchased, the contact noticed that the spoiler was loose on the vehicle. he returned to the dealer and they stated that there was previous damage on the vehicle that was never reported. the contact discovered that the vehicle had been repaired numerous times and was involved in crashes. the vin was invalid. the current and failure mileages were 11,400.

In march, 2007, i had an accident. the rear end of the car was completely broken. i thought it was totaled. safeco had it repaired. the trunk does not stay secure, i am continuously taking my vehicle to the body shop for repairs to the body. the body parts just pop in (plastic) and the trunk lid does not stay shut. i am very disappointed, as well as it being very dangerous when i am riding down the road and the trunk's lid flops open, causing blind visibility . *tr
