Recently reported STEERING problems on 2015 Toyota Camry

While in motion, my vehicle suddenly turns to the left.

When driving to work on the freeway the car deployed by its self and would not stop the steering wheel is so loose and i have no controll

Car pulls either left or right. when making a turn steering wheel does not return. the car just keeps turning. this has happened on very low speeds or speeds of 35 to 45 mph. i believe this is a sensor problem, alternator problem or something involving the tow bar or rack and pinion assembly.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 toyota camry. while driving 20 mph, the steering seized for approximately three minutes. the contact veered to the shoulder of the road. when the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it resumed normal operation. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. a dealer was not contacted. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 15v144000 (steering). the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number:[xxx]. no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was approximately 61,900. *ln *bf consumer stated battery was replaced but still has issues with the steering, where consumer had no control over steering. My 2015 camry pulls to the right at a low speeds (5-35mph) the steering is very sensitive, and when i correct the position and let go of the steering wheel, it goes back to the right. however it does align after i reach a certain speed (40mph>), and the problem seems to disappear until the next morning or when i go somewhere and have to start the car up again.

Vehicle driving normally until 85000 miles. sporadically now pulls hard to right or left at low speeds. seems dependent upon wheel position when ignition is turned off. when the issue occurs, turning the wheels to straight position prior to turning ignition off seems to correct temporarily.

Left my home at 7:55 am this morning to drive to work on city streets. max speed 55. arrived at work approx. 7 min later and parked. left work at 5:30 pm to go home. on the way i noticed the steering wheel was misaligned and the car was pulling to the right at moderate speeds. max speed 45mph. it seems to roll straight at speeds below 10 mph and pulls at speeds above 10 mph.

Wo weeks ago the steering wheel pulled to the right. would not stop pulling until i turned off the ignition. sometime turning the ignition off did not help. yesterday steering wheel pulled to the left! would not stop until ignition turned off. problem is worst at low speed, or stoped and then accerating slowly. city street is worst, and turing while accerating car pulls either left or right at random

At low speeds, the vehicle would pull to either the left or right. dealership reported that the steering angle sensor and motor tested fine. wound up replacing the car's battery and that corrected the issue. the battery light was not illuminated, and the battery tested within specs but was on the low end of acceptable. apparently if the battery is low, but still within specs, it can affect the performance of the electric steering motor and or sensor and result in pulling in one direction or the other.

My car will start pulling to the right, after i park it , it will start pulling to the left and i have no control over the steering. my car has a lot of play in the steering column. i have almost been hit because of this problem, driving down hwy 249 i could only drive 45 miles a hour with my emergency flasher on. i am 71 yes old and i have to use my car for work.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 toyota camry. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle veered to the left and right without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power assist failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was contacted and provided toyota case number: 1908190590. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 15v144000 (steering). the failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

Steering intermittently pulls the driving wheel to the left. sometimes does and others no.

I have 52,000 miles on my car. i never had problem with the steering until recently. while driving at speeds anywhere from 5-55 my car will pull hard to the left. when i pull over and turn the car off and restart it, it stops but after a little while of driving again it will pull hard to the right. it's always at random times and i never know which way it will pull and it doesn't pull at all times. this is a very dangerous situation that toyota needs to address.

The 2015 toyota camry sporadically pulls hard to one side or the other. this issue seems to be happening at slow to moderate speeds (between 5-50 mph). this just suddenly began to happen. with force the vehicle can be kept in line, but this issue is very dangerous. there was a previous recall on these vehicles for the same problem and that recall needs to be extended. i checked and this vehicles vin is not in the previous recall.

My car was driving and my lights went crazy and wheels locked up i changed battery changed alternator and something still draining battery and it's the ecu for my power steering

My vehicle has less than 30,000 miles on it and last week i started to have an intermittent problem with the steering. when i pulled out of my garage i noticed the vehicle was pulling to the left as i proceeded down the street. i thought that the left front tire was going flat. upon checking all tires the pressure was correct. i then took the car out again and the steering continued to pull to the left. i returned to home and parked the car. the next day i took the car out and it performed normally. i drove it for two more days without a problem. on the third day as i was driving i took a left turn and the car wanted to continue turning left. for the next several miles the car continued pulling left. i called my local toyota dealer and asked if they had any idea what the problem was. they suggested the normal things tire pressure, alignment, etc. however a check of those proved not to be the cause. they said they had no idea what caused this intermittent problem. i searched the internet and found that other 2015 camry owners had similar problems with the electronic steering. i also learned that there was a limited recall on the electronic steering component however my vehicle was not on the recall list. today i drove the vehicle and it was normal. in the last week i have experienced three instances of the vehicle pulling sharply to the left and continued pulling to the left for several miles before it returned to normal operation. this all happened during city driving with speeds below 45 mph. this vehicle was involved in a minor front end collision four month ago. the damage was cosmetic including the front bumper grill and hood. there was no mechanical damage and the air bag did not deploy. the vehicle was repaired in a body shop and i have been driving it without problems until last weeks incident with the steering.

Can goes out of control

I got camry se 2015 in august 2015 and after 18 months battery totally out of function so i replaced battery now last few weeks i have issue with steering trouble shoooting. steering doing buzzing weird sound and i contact to toyota because i heard that 110,000 recalls those time for steering issue and they said as per your vin number your vehicle not recall. i went to car mechanic and they said they are able to find a this sound. i am worrying about any my car is effected any manufacturer issue because within short time battery gone and now steering issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 toyota camry. while driving various speeds, the steering wheel failed and pulled to the left. the contact had to use force to steer the vehicle. the failure occurred intermittently. the contact pulled the vehicle over and had it towed to toyota of surprise (13543 n autoshow ave, surprise, az 85388, (623) 469-6027). the dealer diagnosed the vehicle, but did not find a failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 37,000.

Twice now, within a few weeks, after pulling into my subdivision street the car has pulled severely to the right but after driving slowly around for a while and stopping and backing up the problem goes away. if the car were to continue to pull so severely to the right it would be unsafe and undrivable. i don't know if there is an intermittant problem with the steering or perhaps a sticking parking brake or sticking brake cylinder. i had a mechanic look it after the first time but he couldn't repeat the problem (but he only drove the car after it had already cleared up).

Steering suddenly started pulling hard to the left at slow speeds. according to the complaint forums, this is a very, very common defect. this defect is highly dangerous. there was a limited recall on this defect already. why are so many people getting cheated by being excluded from the existing recall on this widely known dangerous defect?

While driving car consistently pulls left then after parking and shutting the car off the car pulls right while driving. so far this has happened 3 times in a row right then left then right. the vin is not part of the current recall.

After starting the car unexpectedly pulls left until driven for a while, then at next start it pulls right. after driving for a while the problem seems to disappear. the steering feels imprecise and just after starting the car actually pulls into other lane

This started happening this week. if the front tires are pointing to the left or right when the car is first started, the car will pull hard to that side when i start driving down the road. i can turn the car, but the steering seems less responsive than normal. pulling over with the front tires facing straight ahead, shutting off the car and then restarting the car seems to reset something in the steering and the steering will work normally. this has happened numerous times. there is something really wrong with the steering on this car. i checked and my vin is not part of any recall. i have an appointment to have the dealership look at, but it's clear from reading other reports online that this is a common and unsolved problem with this particular vehicle.

Driver's seatbelt is hard to release when applied steering wheel makes a noise when making turns, wether or not vehicle is in motion;like if it needed fluid but checked the steering wheel fluid and level is ok,but still steering wheel makes noise like if something it defected.

Steering wheel locked while driving and eps light came on and then turned off

While operating at low speed, the car started to steer to the left, requiring physical restraint to keep it moving straight. without restraint, it would have gone into the curb. after the car was turned off, and following a 2 hour delay, the car was restarted and did not exhibit the problem. when i called toyota customer care, they indicated that this vin was not covered by the nhtsa recall notice about the same problem that affected other camry's of the same year. this appears to be a very dangerous condition that toyota is not addressing.

At random times the steering would start pulling either left or right pretty hard. it seems like if the wheel is turned in a certain direction when the vehicle is started that's the direction it would pull to. toyota recalled over 110,00 of that year and model for an electronic power steering ecu and my vehicle isn't a part of that recall but the same thing is happening to a lot of other people. while driving it would be as straight as an arrow and then all of a sudden it would start pulling left or right. if i turned the car off and straightened the wheel out and turned it back on, the problem would disappear and then randomly it would happen again a few days later

My 2015 toyota camry se loss power steering and veered left on a straight road . the stering was hard to control and had to keep turning right to go staight. this episode could have caused a major accident on a busy 4 lane highway in virginia. will not drive car until the mechanic let me know the problem. nhtsa needs to recall all 2015 camry to fix the electronic boards before fatalities.. thank you.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 toyota camry. the contact stated that the steering wheel seized without warning. the contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same failure as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 15v144000 (steering). the dealer (precision toyota of tucson, 700 w wetmore rd, tucson, az 85705, 1-(520) 795-5565) and the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was excluded from the recall campaign. the vehicle was not diagnosed and remained parked due to the intermittent failure. the manufacturer was notified and expected the vehicle owner to have the dealer diagnose and repair the vehicle. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Electric steering system all of a sudden failed. i have to manually force the wheels to turn. steering is a little better at high speeds but still has a limited range of steering, especially at slower speeds.

My 2015 toyota camry starting having serious steering issues. as of monday, october 1, the steering wheel will randomly pull to either the right or left side and seems feel very loose while driving, as if there is no self sustained stability or resistance. i have researched, and found that the year/make/model of my car has a recall for failed "electronic power assist system". unfortunately though, the recall only applies to a limited amount of vehicles. i have also noticed that there are several others logging the same complaint regarding the same make/model/year vehicle, which leads me to believe that this issue may very well stretch far beyond the vehicles fortunate enough to have been included in the recall. i believe it would be wise of toyota and/or nhtsa, as well as beneficial to many toyota customers (both current and future) to revisit the limited recall with the idea of expanding it to include more 2015 model camry's. this is a hazardous, and potentially life threatening, issue.

Steering will stop at left or right position while driving instead of stopping at straight position. restarting the car will fix the problem but will occur after few days. same situation occured multiple time so got alignment done yesterday but problem still there. searched online and saw other people having similar problems with 2015 toyota camry, but also mentioned that their vin number was not on recall lost. checked my vin number and it was not in the recall list. this situation is dangerous and need to be fixed. i have experienced driving with this problem and it is not safe specially on highways.

I filed a vehicle safety complaint last month in reference to my electric power steering symbol came on in my car. i didn't drive my car for 2 weeks because i didn't want to take a chance on having a crash. so on august 18, 2018, i decided to drive my car around the block to see if the light would come back on and the light didn't come on, but my steering wheel pulls from the left and the right if my hands are taken off the wheel for a minute. as i was driving around the block the wheel became very loosely to the touch of slightly holding it. it steer in the direction of left as i'm traveling straight up the road.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 toyota camry. while the contact's daughter was driving at unknown speeds, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact called the local dealer (newbold toyota, 1282 central park dr, o'fallon, il 62269, (618) 628-7000) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v144000 (steering). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 1808291305. the failure mileage was 60,000.

I was fueling up my car, and upon me turning the key to start up my automobile, it didn't respond. i noticed the symbol on the dashboard that had a circle with a triangle drawn downward with a circular item at the top of the triangle symbol with an exclamation point symbol beside it. i also informed toyota that my seatbelt didn't beep to let me that it wasn't clicked.i then notified my local toyota company to see if i could bring my car in for a inspection. i was told that they didn't have any appointments until the end of the month.

Takata recall- i noticed the last week as i'm driving my speed feels as if it's decreasing but the speed odometer is not decreasing and when i turn my steering wheel ( left and right turns) it making screeching sounds, at first the sounds was light but you can hear it but today (8-3-18) as i turn in the grocery store parking lot it was very loud and i barely was turning the steering wheel. once i got back into the car, cut the ignition on and backed out there was no screeching sound but as i'm driving on the interstate head home the speed starts back decreasing a little, when i turned into my dive way the screeching sound started back.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 toyota camry. while driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power steering ability without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the power steering motor failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist since the vin was not included in a recall. the failure mileage was 62,000.

Car will pull hard left on occasion while driving. once car is stopped and re-started, issue goes away. pull is hard enough to force car into on-coming traffic. all equipment has been checked and verified in good working order multiple times. mechanics believe issue may be with electronic steering control but cannot verify as issue cannot be duplicated and is random. this has occurred on highways, parking lots, city streets, etc. condition is not affected by driving surface. last occurance was 7/7/18.

The vehicle suddenly starts to pull one way or the other and looses accurate control of steering while driving.

Seering wheel was shifting right and would not stop until the ignition was turned off. a few days later the same thing happened but this time to the left, turning the car off and then on again made it stop

At 25-40 mpr the steering unexpectedly veers right or left. when making a turn, steering frequently does not return to normal. on occasion, the steering slowly pulls left or right as if the tire has low inflation. i consider this to be a danger to myself and others. although there are numerous steering complaints regarding the 2015 camry, the dealer said that our vin# is not on a recall list. i would appreciate additional investigation by the nhtsa.

When in motion at relatively low speeds on city streets, the steering often veers to the left or right unexpectedly, and after making a turn, the steering tends to remain in the turn and does not automatically return to a neutral position.

It all started back in june of 2018. my car suddenly started to pull to the left and i initially thought that i have a flat tire, but it was not the case. here is what happens. when my car is turned on and start moving, the steering wheel pulls to the right or to the left. it pulls mostly to the left and loses accurate control of steering while driving. it doesn't stop pulling until the ignition is turned off and turned back on. then steering is back to normal. i took my car to a toyota dealership (worldtoyota, 5800 peachtree industrial blvd, atlanta, ga 30341) on july 19, 2018 and reported the problem. the diagnosed the vehicle and didn't find the problem. the problem has been worsening and happens all the time right now.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 toyota camry. the contact stated that the steering wheel seized and became extremely hard to maneuver. the vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 15v144000 (steering). the approximate failure mileage was 85,100.

Is making a noise on passenger side and the steering is funny

Electric power steering: at times car would pull very hard to either the left or right at low speeds. the pull was so strong that it would pull you off of the road if you weren't gripping the steering wheel firmly. the problem would persist until the vehicle speed reached approximately 40 mph. i took the car to the dealership, and after getting the car to replicate the problem, they ran a diagnostic and determined 'torque sensor for steering out of whack needs both gear, column, and ecm computer.' the 2015 camry has a recall on the electric power steering but i am told my car is not part of this recall. this could be a dangerous defect if the problem occurred unexpectedly in heavy traffic.

Steering wheel lose control and the has to be held down, taking the wheels out of control and sways from side to side, sometimes on the left some times on the right (steering wheel assist)

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 toyota camry. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and independently restarted. the contact stated that the failure recurred six times. the contact also stated that a warning indicator illuminated for the steering wheel. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. toyota direct (4248 morse rd, columbus, oh 43230, (614) 476-1979)was notified of the failure. the contact was informed that there would be a cost assessed to diagnose the vehicle. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v144000 (steering). the manufacturer was contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 66,048.

While car is in motion at regular or slow speed, the maintenance light flashes on for about 2 seconds while turning left. maintenance to the car has always been performed by a toyota dealer.
