Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2008 Toyota Camry

The dashboard is melting in the heat. it get's sticky and shiny in the heat and reflects a glare on the windshield. you can put your hand on it and it sticks to the dash and you could peal the surface off.

The sun visor became weak and has broken completely. i would venture to say the visor has less than the average amount of normal wear and tear. the visor itself will not stay up in the proper position nor stay down/back (more flatly adjacent to the windshield). this causes decreased/awkward visibility when driving in general and offers no relief when needed from driving into the sun's path. it is also very distracting (even frustrating) when operating the vehicle.

The sun visor is broken. it occurred through normal use. the cars that were affected by the 2007 to 2011 camry. toyota is not standing behind their product.

On may 22, 2015, when i got into my car, the sun visor was down. i tried to put it back into its proper place, but it would not stay up. no matter what i tried, it kept flopping down, obstructing the view when driving. if i push it forward toward the front window, i can see better, but still i don't have maximum visibility. it flops back down at times, totally blocking my view of the road and the review mirror. this is a definitely safety hazard and if authorities were aware, i would probably be given a citation for driving an unsafe car. when it flops down and obstructs view of the rear view mirror, the only way i can see what is behind me is by using the side view mirrors which takes longer and, therefore, could easily cause an accident. i find that many others have filed complaints about the sun visor problem, yet toyota continues to deny responsibility. if this is the way toyota stands behind their cars, i need to return to nissan for my next car.

The abs and brake light comes on every time after an oil changed my dash board is melting.

Engine oil burning off way to fast. i have to add 1 qt every 1,200 - 1,500 miles. i took my cat in to the dealership for a oil consumption test and passed. but i did notice that they use 5-20 oil. which i believe is why it passed. because i use 0-20 oil, just like my owners manual says. so i'm not sure.

I have a toyota camry and of the board is melting and i is difficult at the besst sun does get good visibility because the sunlight so bright hinders my vision board. i want to know where i can go to help me to fix this flaw. i am parking in front to my house

The stickiness of the dashboard, and the shiny/reflective surface the dashboard creates, as a safety harzard.

The car is experiencing melting dashboard. the dashboard surface is melting and becoming very sticky. *tr

Started smoking, and pulled car to side of road. then camry was on fire. the whole engine was on fire. the car is totaled. it is not worth anything. nothing can be salvaged at all the inside of car was burnt. now i don't have a car. the insurance might not cover the car. *tr

As i was cleaning the interior of my 2008 toyota camry with a clean cloth and started to see some dark stain coming out and when i took a minute to find out, i realized that my dashboard was melting. this is not my first toyota and this might be the last. i am very disappointed with toyota right now. they should stand behind their product and fix it. i am not the only one facing this issue. *tr

Dashboard has become sticky will collect dust and debris, gotten so shiny that there is a glare and makes it hard to see while driving due to the reflection of the shine on the window. bought 2014 and didn't have this issue didn't even get the warranty notice about the dash. this is our family car and afraid it's making our drives dangerous

The dashboard is melting and is shiny and sticky. i can't even wipe it down without making a bigger mess. i need this fixed.

I have a 2008 toyota camry and noticed several months ago that the dashboard started to have a sticky feeling. i live in west palm beach, fl and within the last few days i noticed an article on the channel 5 news station that had a report on the melting dash in these cars. after reading several complaints from other camry drivers, i know i'm not the only one. this seems to be a "recall" issue with toyota and they need to fix it! i've seen the estimates other drivers have received after speaking with toyota and they seem to charge around $2500 for the replacement of the dashboard; and it's not even the responsibility of the driver! this is a growing problem and toyota needs to start taking care of it now! i will never buy another toyota again, regardless of the hype of their everlasting products. *js

Glare from melting dashboard

I'm experiencing a melting dashboard that causes a such glare on the windshield that it has the effect of of us not being able see thorough the windshield as was intended by its installation. we now wear uv sunglasses in order to try to combat the glare. this melting dashboard is a safety hazard! i've sent/spoken with toyota and its dealers and they have not agreed repair or replace my melting dashboard. did i mention it is a safety hazard and has further decreased the re-sale value.

The dashboard is melting and very hard to clean especially on hot weather.

August of 2012, i noticed a sticky residue developing on the dashboard of my 2008 toyota camry. i have since tried to cleaning it off, but it is impossible to clean. the problem got worse throughout the year as it started developing a shine on the dashboard causing a glare on the windshield while i drive during the day. this is a real safety issue for me and my family as it makes visibility much more difficult. *tr

The passenger sunvisor began to hang down slightly and then it dropped all the way down and wouldn't go back up at all. we tried everything to fix it but to no avail. the passenger can't even look forward at certain times of the day due to the sun right in their eyes. recently, the driver's side sunvisor has now done the same thing. it is hanging down in the view of the driver and causing safety concerns. we have to drive holding it up with our hands just so we can see out of the drivers window to drive. i researched online to see if this has been a problem to other toyota owners and was astonished at how many complaints there were regarding this problem. when i saw how many other toyota owners were experiencing the same problem, i decided to file a complaint due to safety concerns for so many. *tt

The sun visor on the driver's side flapped down without being manually released. the visor no longer locks into place and releases randomly while driving. this is a dangerous driving hazard.

I contacted toyota over a year ago concerning a recall on my dash boad...i was informed that they were on back orde due to the recall...i have made several attempts to resolve this matter but every time i call to speak with someone they give me an attitude stating that they have had people waiting on a dash board longer than me and that i just have to wait.

Driver side visor lost tension and eventually broke. visor was dangerously hanging down in direct line of driver sight. *tr

Pulled out of bank drive thru bay. stopped (to turn left into parking lot way). pressed gas pedal to turn.car jerked, accelerated, and spunout into the parking lot way. brake and good driving saved me, but this 2008 camry had just been repaired for recall pedal issue .. issue happened again on 3/15/2010. similar situation...driving really slow in parking lot. pressed gas, rpm went up, car hesitated, jumped/accelated, and paused before going to normal speed. actsl like a transmission shifting issue

My toyota camry pedal was in the sticking position and when i went to brake the brakes would not do their job and i couldn't stop until i bumped the car in front of me. prior to this incident, i had experienced sudden acceleration a few time over the last two and half years with this car, but never any sticking or break failure.

S10 direct reply- letter to the secretary from re support in his efforts to get resolution with toyota *tgw 2008 toyota camry. the consumer stated he noticed just after christmas there was paint peeling off the rear bumper. he took the vehicle to a certified auto body shop and was informed the paint repair was poorly done and that most likely the paint shop that was used for the repair didn't use enough uv protection in the paint and the base paint was probably inferior quality. the auto body shop stated, if the uv paint protection was not used in sufficient quantity and quality in a proper manner that after 2 or 3 months in the sun, the color would change. *jb updated congressional letter 10/27/10. *jb updated congressional letter 10/29/10*jb
