Approximately 2 years after the purchase of our 2007 toyota camry, the dashboard started becoming sticky as if a paste was on it. everything sticks to it and it is impossible to clean because it will literally peel off. i determined that it melted in the florida heat. after hearing that this is happening to other cars and leaving the same dangerous glare when driving i too agree that toyota needs to rectify this issue because it is not an isolated incident as i thought previously. *tr

My dash board is melting and it reflect glares on windshield so bad you can hardly see when sunny outside. *tr

I purchased a 2007 toyota camry in march 2006. this new vehicle had several defects including the replacement of a dash by the dealer after delivery. the quality of the brake rotors on this vehicle are unsatisfactory. i have had the rotors replaced five times. the vehicle has approx. 46,000 miles. i have had two independent repair shops evaluate the factory rotors and they both come to the same conclusion, poor quality rotors. it's not how the vehicle is being operated since we are not causing anything that would cause these rotors to warp the way they do. we do not drive our vehicles hard, just to cause more maintenance expenses. toyota has paid for replacing the rotors once. they have also charged me twice for the same work and i have paid twice to another auto shop. i tried to file a complaint through toyota and that was useless. i will never purchase a toyota vehicle again. real sad how they were handling my complaint. *tr

Over the past several years, i have noticed my dashboard is overly hot in high temps. (i live in sw florida). today, the dashboard is sticky, very hot, shiny in spots, and now filled with small chunks from y fingernail hitting it. i can't clean it as the rag will stick. this is obviously a material defect that the maker used. no where in my owners manual or contract did it state that the dashboard will become much after 6 years, and the car should only be used in the colder states. i use four layers of house insulation and a sun visor. nothing helps, as this problem is aggravated by high temperatures. i am told this is a $1,000 dashboard and i will have to pay for labor to get it replaced. really/ how unacceptable. again, no where in my contract did it state that just over warranty expiration, the dash would melt. and how does this affect the passengers airbag? and the glare from the sun on the dash? how can this be safe. how many complaints need to happen before someone interjects? please recall this item and make our vehicles safe. a very unsatisfied customer. (1 of many!). *tr

Vehicle information: 2007 camry se v6 purchased in toronto, ontario, canada in sep 2007 ? vehicle manufacturing date aug 29, 2007. deficiencies: 1) hesitation the vehicle would not respond to acceleration (even with full throttle) after driving in heavy traffic (stop and go) or driving very passively. this symptom is consistence and hesitation is long and common is 80 klm speed. the vehicle does not down shift at all. change my dealer after reporting it twice with no action. new dealer has acknowledged the problem and has reprogrammed the transmission chip as per tsb. (will pick up the vehicle today) 2) crackling noise from control are and dashboard next to windshield during entire cold season. noises appear every few second. over 90% of the problem disappears during warmer weather. change my dealer after reporting it twice with no action. new dealer has acknowledged the problem and has added additional insulation as per tsb to control area only. the dashboard noise next to windshield could not be replicated. i have to bring the vehicle to dealer during winter month to replicate the problem before any action is taken. 3) thumping noise from rear end of the vehicle on bumps (like a lose watermelon in your trunk). again, first dealer did nothing. new dealer has acknowledged the problem and has added additional insulation to struts as per tsb, 4) high revving and transmission not in gear in sudden acceleration. similar response as you are driving a manual transmission and you continue to accelerate while changing gear. new dealer suggest that the reprogramming should take care of this. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while looking out of the rear view mirror, the contact noticed a reflection that decreased the visibility out of the rear window. he believed that the shade in the rear caused the failure. the dealer was unable to correct the failure. the failure mileage was 15 and current mileage was 3,000. updated 10/11/07. *jb

Bad smell coming from the ac when is initially turn on and 5 days ago find out the rug on the passenger side and back on the same side are soaking wet. mechanic from the dealer stated that one ac hose inside the car, underneath the dashboard was tugged in. then the manager stated it was the outside hose from the ac. they state they are not responsible for the water damage. want costumer to pay 1,480 to change the rugs. only 9,707 miles, they are being dishonest to the customers. also, slow acceleration and jumpy ride. *tr

Sticky & degrading dash pad. my vehicle is past the "enhanced warranty" period for this problem but this is a serious safety issue that creates glare on the windshield making it hard to see while driving. this should be a mandatory recall. please help.

Toyota needs to be held responsible 4 the unexpected acceleration of these vehicles. make them test it under 32 degrees and the rpms will almost always increase and decrease abruptly though giving gas at a steady pace. it's happened every year every winter since i bought the car new. the pedal fix/recall was a slap in the face to those of us who suspect it is an engine or electrical issue. it must be tested in cold cold weather and upon the car just starting to run. it does seem to subside as the engine warms but on the next cold day the car tries to accelerate itself again

It appears that defective materials were used in the manufacture of the front dash of my 2007 toyota camry. the dash is literally melting. the surface has become tacky, soft and easily damaged by touch. this issue is now being described by toyota customers as ??melting dash??. this deterioration of the dash has also created an abnormal sheen or glare when in sunlight as has been previously reported by others. if chemical changes are in fact occurring during this abnormal deterioration process i am concerned that "off gasing" of harmful or toxic chemicals may be introduced in the confined space of the occupied vehicle. my understanding is that this problem is associated with direct sunlight and hot temperatures and is being reported from various southern states including florida & hawaii. toyota has stated that they will not remedy the situation because the vehicle warranty has expired. *tr

Form #2 request #215013 chat transcript (e-mail) ...?.for replacement under a recall program but was told the recall has expired". another consumer posted aug 8 2019 "defect of the dashboard for the 2007 avalon gulf specs [xxx] to be changed. one employee told me that they would not be changed because they did not contact me and when i was not convinced by his answer, another employee came to me and said that the offer of replacement had ended and also they are not calling to be replaced but the customer who goes to them to claim the replacement is approved after consulting the main company". my 2007 camry has approximately 57,000 mi. i owned a 2nd vehicle until it was donated may 2015. "everytime" i go in for service maintenance, because of low mi and excellent interior and exterior, i am approached by a salesman to purchase my vehicle. i have owned toyota camry's since 1989. where is the integrity, ethics, loyalty, respect, safety and compassion for consumers? how in god's name is it legal to sell a vehicle to a consumer with a known defect? how in good conscience can a dealer, salesman sell a vehicle with a known defect with potential hazard to the consumer's safety? i never thought toyota motor corp would be in the same category as all of the manufacturers which have historically deceived consumers. toyota made promises with a dashboard warranty program that was created after two class action lawsuits were filed in 2014. the automaker concedes the dashboards can melt but says the problem is only a cosmetic issue, not a safety issue, hence the reason no official recall has been ordered. according to the lawsuit, toyota won't be able to repair all the vehicles within the 10-year time limit of the secondary coverage warranty enhancement. primary coverage of the warranty program expired on may 31, 2017. the lawsuit...?.form #3 to follow information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Dt*: the contact stated that the vehicle was not made for anyone of small stature. the vehicle presented no visibility beyond the front window when the seat was adjusted to allow the contact to reach the accelerator and brake pedals. this also caused the seat belt to cut across the neck of the contact, rubbing it raw. the rear window had a constant reflective haze which, when coupled with the oversized head rests in the rear of the vehicle, obscured the rear view of the contact. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the dealer offered no resolution. the dealer determined due to the contact's stature, there was nothing that could be done.*ak updated 8/14/2006 - *nm

I have a problem with my 2007 camry accelerating from a stopped or "low speed" position. i also have had to have the air conditioner condenser replaced due to a rock coming through the grill of the car and "puncturing the condenser. i took the car to a toyota dealer in slidell, la as i was out of town. the dealer replaced the condenser for $625.00 at my expense. i was told there were no "screens" or any type of materials that could keep this from occurring again. there is however a tsb for the same thing on the 2007 corolla. i feel that toyota has a flaw in the grill of the 2007 camry and it should be remedied. on the issue of acceleration, i live in a congested traffic area in fl and do not feel that i can safely "pull out" into traffic unless i have a great deal of clearance. i feel that this is a severe safety issue that needs to be addressed by toyota. i am an avid fan of toyota products. this is my 3rd camry and i owned a scion tc as well so this is not about downing a toyota product. i believe in toyota. i just think now is the time to recognize a problem and remedy that for the consumer. i would hate for someone to get killed before they address this issue. *nm

Upon acceleration a deep thud is heard in the rear end area. all possible areas of loose articles were checked. dealer cannot seem to find. rear wheel well material comes loose and hangs. dashboard had to be torn out to fix ac rattle. jbl bluetooth radio malfunctioned and needed replacing. *nm

Toyotas latest recall should not be a floor mat or stuck accelerator problem. my 2007 camry has experienced this scenerio at least several times a year (even though i know it exists). the problem is the design of the brake pedal and accelerator pedal. the brake pedal (when braking) is closer to the floor than the height of the un-depressed accelerator pedel. if the driver has big feet or is not precise when placing the foot, it is possible to depress both pedals at the same time. the harder one tries to stop, the faster the engine wants to run. in my vehicles from the past, the accelerator pedal, when not depressed, was closer to the floor than the position of the brake pedal during a very hard (emergency) braking action. toyota's firmware fix of not allowing the accelerator signal to override the braking signal is not a good fix for the problem. sometimes it is desirable to increase the speed of the engine before releasing the brake to provent rolling backwards when starting on a grade. paying attention to the ergonomics of how the pedals and the human driver interface and proper engineering design is the solution. *tr
