Melted and sticky dashboard.

I was driving at about 25mph on montgomery drive in philadelphia (city street) in the morning of 12/9/2019. it was raining lightly. the car in front of me was about 4 to 5 car-lengths ahead. it braked as another car tried to cut in, and i also immediately braked. my brake felt grinding and my car continued to slide into the back of the car in front of me.

My entire dashboard has been sticky / tacky for years. i do not know why or how it got this way. it accumulates dust and grime, and i have no way to properly clean it since all towels and cleaning cloths, unless extremely wet, get caught on it, and then it accumulates fibers from the cleaning cloths. if i press into the dashboard with my finger, it retains a fingerprint. i can easily cleave a piece off with my nail. obvious when the dashboard is shiny on a sunny day, the glare is on the windshield that can cause problems. i just bought this car recently

The dashboard is made of a plastic that deteriorates over time. the effect is a sticky coating when the dashboard is exposed to warmth. toyota expanded the warranty for 10 years. my car did not exhibit symptoms during that time, or when checked, had not been exposed to heat (the car is garage kept). dashboards should not wear out. toyota was sold a defective material. i do not understand why toyota would not insist that customers are made whole for this (the repair is over $1,200) rather than risk losing loyal (formerlly loyal) customers. my wife and i have owned 5 toyotas since 1980, and currently have two. the shiny dash can be a safety hazard. our 2007 had other serious defects that toyota repaired. we will shop another brand next time.

There was originally a recall on the 2007 toyota camry that had a warranty to replace the melting dashboard. the melting dashboard is a safety hazard due to the glare that it produces. the car owner should not be made responsible for an error toyota created. my complaint is that a recall warranty should never expire for someone who paid for a vehicle with expectations that there would be no issues.

The front dashboard of my car has melted. on a sunny day there is too much of a glare that i cannot see clearly to what is ahead. i cannot place anything on the dashboard because it sticks on there and it has began to chip off when i accidentally bump my nail on it. it is horrible and dangerous with that glare. if someone was on the side of the road i may not see them on time to let them pass by because of the glare and it is getting worse as it continues to melt even more.

Made a 90 degree turn to park car, car rapidly accelerated and crashed into a wall within 25 feet of turning causing auto body damage. data recorder report pulled from third party shows last five seconds before impact and recorded within .3 milliseconds rpb went from 400 to 2000 and speed went from 3.7 mph to 9.9 mph. toyota wrote back and said nothing was wrong with car. if you review crash site and distance car turned to the building, it is impossible to accelerate that quickly in that short of distance. vehicle was in motion on a city street turning into a private parking lot.

I was driving into my garage and had just brake to let it ease in. my foot was still on the brake, when the car suddenly revved and lunged forward. the brake would not work, and it was as if the car had a mind of its own. it hit the crate that was in front of the wall, and forced a bike rack through the wall. the front bumper of my car was cracked in places. the car then stopped. so scary! i immediately called my dealership and was told they could not talk to me. i needed to call the corporation, which i did. after two months of waiting on a decision, i was told there is nothing wrong with my car, and that's that. i have since learned that there have been other incidents with toyotas just like mine. i am petrified to drive the car, and yet i am also afraid to pass it on to someone else. i don't want anyone hurt. i have called toyota, and they do not return my calls i am wondering what i can do. *tr

My daughter was driving our camry to work on dry city pavement. she was going through an intersection (her light was green) when she was hit by a cadillac escalade. the impact was hard enough it spun her around on a dry city street and made the car jump a curb. the escalade ran a red light. the side impact air bags did not deploy. toyota said they behaved as expected. *tr

The board of alante melts with the heat and does not let me see why he was much billo and i had an accident due to that problem nesecito help

My 07 camry runs completely out of oil before it's time for it to be changed. i have had the car checked for oil leaks and has passed each time. after researching this issue i have found that the more miles on the car the faster it runs the oil out and with that being said i now have engine damage. not to mention this car has been the absolute worst. i put my visors down one time and had to take them off because they wouldn't go back up. the power controls in my car don't work. i also found out tonight that there was a recall on the gas pedal in this death trap that happened before i owned it that i was never informed of but knew something had to be wrong with it because it kept sticking!! i am not the only person dealing with this and find it outrageous that it has not been fixed. my children used to ride in that car!! it is a ticking time bomb and something needs to be done about this!!!!!!!

Takata recall. my dashboard is soft and get softer. it getting sticky. the worst thing is the glare that comes off it is blinding. i have almost have accentdents becouse of this. once the sun hit you real can not see. this is one thing toyoda must replace. i know if i get into an accentdent that's i first thing i will do, get a lawyer. in fact i have been told from one the it in pairs you so much that you get in a accentdent we can go after toyoda of not recalling a part that has a safety concern. it is so soft you nail just its it and makes a dent. i don't show in a pic but by the glove box there is a piece that ever rubs off. it is as thin as one coat of paint on the glove box. every what what the so called dash is very cheap rudder that melts, easy the damage, can not clean it or anything. i love toyoda but this dash will make my buy something else, it's a pain in the ass.

The dashboard of the camry becomes tacky and very shiny due to deteriation from sunlight. this shiny finish causes dangerous glare against the windshield while driving. the tackiness prevents the dashboard from being cleaned properly to prevent reflections as well.

I purchased my 2007 toyota camry xle in may 2006 (the vin plate shows it was made in kentucky). 2007 was a new body style. the camry had a tach weld defect in the right rear fender well. originally the dealer told me it was my rear grab handle shaking. i knew it wasn't. having no other recourse, i called toyota corporate. they flew in 2 tech service engineers from ca to my state, and with the dealer, they discovered that there was a faulty (or no) tach weld in the rr fender well causing the frame of the body to strike together. the car was sent to a welding shop and the defect was repaired. it's now september 2015 and about a month ago i began to hear the "tink tink" sound again- indicating the same, or another, faulty tach weld. i have called toyota corporate again (just now), and am waiting for a response. since this is essentially the frame of the car, i'm very concerned. (additionally i had extensive issues with this car but unless i constantly returned it to the dealer/shop i couldn't meet the lemon law threshold in my state. for example, water poured out of the driver's side visor. the dealer said it was leaves in the a pillar. i park my car in a garage.)

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the dashboard melted and became extremely sticky. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced; however, the parts were not available. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 178,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the dashboard melted and emitted a strong odor. the failure occurred without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the dashboard needed to be replaced. the repair could not be performed due to the parts being on back order. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 101,000.

Rear window shattered for no reason. can not find or see any place on the window which might have been hit with a stone beebee or paint ball. no obvious point of failure.

Dashboard creates a very shiny surface making it hard to properly see the road. it looks like it is melting. when i touch it, it sticks. it is very dangerous while i drive. i live in florida so i had to put a dashboard cover which still doesn stay fixed.

Driving at normal speed my headlights would go out by themselves. to get them on again i would have to turn the switch on and off. i was stopped twic by state trooper and given a warning.

Toyota camry 2007 the problem is the dashboard which is sticky and i don't like . please it needs to be fixed. thank you ! *tr

Car dashboard when exposed to sun , gets sticky and glossy. the reflection on the windshield creates hazardous driving condition. the dashboard material appears to be vinyl. this should be investigated, toyota motor co. did send a letter informing that they are aware of this situation, but has no resolution or time frame in solving this problem. this is unfair to consumers. *tr
