July 2016, check engine light came on. diagnostic indicated code p171. was advised it was a laundry list of systems to check for this code. ( replaced the following; flex pipe, 02 sensor, spark plugs and fuel pump. for a total of 1400.00) while driving on i-95 at 60 mph, airbag light, brake light, abs light and seat belt light all illuminated at the same time. techometer surged out of control, engine temp gauge displayed no reading and speedometer went to zero. oh and yeah, the ac that was blowing very cold air switched to warm or hot. all of these issues happened at the same time on the highway at 60 mph. ironically, the check engine light did not illuminate and the mechanic is unable to determine the cause as there is no code issued from the computer for this very dangerous problem. this problem happens randomly and there is no warning. the engine performs normal during this issue with the exception of the ac that fails every time. this issue can and has happened when the car is sitting parked with engine running and while in motion. i am so afraid that this eventually will cause a serious accident or death. and the most annoying part is no mechanic can tell any of us why this happens or how to fix it. please, please, help us before the worst happens.
Takata recall nothing has happened so far. because the 2007-2011 lexus es was recalled for some regions, i was wondering if the 2007-2011 toyota camry should also be recalled as well, since the lexus es is based on the toyota camry.

i was driving my 2007 toyota camry le about 55 miles an hour on a three lane interstate freeway. i was in the slow lane and my car suddenly and violently turned to the left, causing the car to hit a large rv in the center lane. the car continue spinning across the fast lane (it's amazing no cars were in that lane because traffic was fairly heavy). the back end of my car hit the center cement barrier hard (car totaled) and i came to a stop on the inside shoulder facing the opposite direction of where i was originally traveling. the airbag did not go off and the locking part of the seatbelt didn't seem to work. i could have been easily killed or killed someone else. i will contact toyota. there is no excuse for this.
The entire dashboard started to become disfigured and a little uneven - entire dash became very sticky - like it had partially melted. initially thought someone may have spilled something but noticed entire dash was the same from left to right have since learned that this was a more common problem and may affect passenger side airbag understand toyota did not issue a recall but did fix the problem by replacing the dash if customers complained can you tell me what i should do? i called toyota headquarters about the problem and they said they would call me back after 1-2 days. they have never called back

Dashboard peeling and sticking...airbags on passenger side. *js
I was recently in a car accident in my 2007 toyota camry. while making a left turn, i was struck by another car of the driver door the door was badly hit/damaged, yet the airbag did not deploy. as this was a double impact accident, after being struck on the door, the car went straight into a hydrant pole, striking the car dead center and causing extensive damage. again, the airbags did not deploy. as i am not sure of where the sensors in the front are located, i cannot really say that they should have deployed. however, the impact on the door was sufficient for the airbag to have deployed. the police, emt and towing company all made the same comment...they were concerned that the airbags did not deploy. i also spoke to my insurance claim adjuster who also stated that at the very least, the door airbag should have deployed. he is currently still inspecting my car and cannot comment about the front airbags as of yet. if needed, i do have photos that can be provided. my concern is that had i been driving at a faster speed or had it been a highway accident, the possibility of a fatality would have been that much greater. with that said, i highly recommend that the airbags be investigated to see if there are any other complaints regarding the manufacturing batch. although my son and i suffered extensive bruising, i am thankful that it was not worse. *tr
Dashboard has begun to deteriorate. it has a sticky film on it that reflects sunlight into the driver's face. the dashboard has begun to be very sticky and looks like it's going to start to fall apart. more than aesthetically disappointing is the safety issue. the reflection from the defective dashboard makes it difficult to see the road at times. *tr
The vehicle was struck by another vehicle in the rear wheel on the driver's side then made impact with an iron fence head on but the front air bags did not deploy. *tr
The seat belt did not securely hold me in when the car behind me hit me, i was at a dead stop and was rear ended, the air bags also did not deploy, and my face hit the steering wheel. the force of the rear ending pushed me into the suv in front of me, the car was totaled. i suffered a concussion, whip lash, wrist and elbow injury and lower back was hurt after the impact. i was wearing my seat belt thankfully otherwise i could have hit the wind shield.
Dashboard recal as the title aptly suggests, my camry's dashboard has melted due to the extreme heat. my windshield has no tint and i sometimes forget to put up the windshield foil cover when i park. the dashboard now feels very sticky and when i leave the car under the sun for a long stretch, i can actually rub off some of the dashboard's rubber coating surface if i touch it. it also has several scratches due to accidental hits from fingernails and such, and a lot of scratches from the bottom of the windshield foil cover (yes, the dashboard is now that soft). i'm afraid to apply anything on it as this might just make its condition worse. my last option is to use a dashboard cover to hide the scratches and prevent the dashboard from getting damaged further. my concerns with this option are: where do i buy a good/decent-looking dashboard cover for my car? (my dashboard is color black). i'm based in fort buchanan, guaynabo and would this get in the way of the passenger airbag? any other suggestions aside from my idea above, please do not hesitate to express them. help desperately needed. thanks [xxx] [xxx] today i have attempted in contacting you on the number you provided with a negative result. the number rings and immediately goes into a occupied mode. When i entered my vehicle, the right passenger side air bag cover was hanging down. it is still attached at the bottom, but hanging from the top. i have not recently been in an accident, so there is nothing that i could have done to have this happen. i cannot pop it back into place and am worried should an accident occur, the air bag will not be of any use. *tr
I would like to file a compliant about my dash melting and being sticky. i love this car and the dash looks horrible. i also had tried cleaning it but then the fuzz just sticks to it, try to keep sunshade in it and it sticks to it, bugs stick to it. please let me know what i can do about this. *tr
My dashboard is sticky and seems to be melting has a glare in the windshield, and the side window casing over airbags along windshield windows is warped and keep poping out exposeing wires.i bought this car one year ago and as i was told it has never been in a wreck. i don't have money to fix these problems so what am i to do?
I own a toyota camry le 2007. i am having problems with the speedometer, tachometer and temperature gauges. while in motion, they will cease to indicate proper readings and drop to zero. at the same time, the abs and parking brake warning lights turns on and stay for a duration of 10 to 30 minutes. also the a/c goes off when these two lights turn on. *tr
On my 2007 toyota camry i have noticed that the front dashboard became very shiny and become very sticky and has since started to deteriorate. the shine coming from the dashboard reflects and causes a harsh glare which makes it very hard to see through the windshield. also, the passenger side air bag sensor is not working, it remains off no matter what. not sure if this is related to the dashboard melting but i have searched the internet and have seen several complaints of this same issue. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact was driving approximately 30 mph and lost control of the vehicle, crashing into an unknown object. the vehicle then rolled over three times. the air bags failed to deploy. the contact sustained injuries to the left finger, neck, back, and head. a police report was not filed. the contact was not transported to the hospital. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the incident. the failure mileage was 120,000.
The dashboard is disintegrating. the area on the front part of the dashboard (closest to the windshield) seems to be the worse, although the problem is spreading to the entire dash. it is sticky, tacky, shiny and gouges easily. this problem is creating a glare and is dangerous. the dash is basically melting. i worry about the function of the airbags. recently my airbag light is coming on and then going out for no apparent reason. i fear that the dash will become so unstable that it will cause the airbag to deploy. please help. i am afraid for anyone to sit on the driver's side of my car. *tr
On 11/19/2013, i flipped my 2007 toyota camry. the air bags never came out. i reported to toyota corporation and they never offered an explanation for this.
My daughter was traveling 55 mph on a 4-lane highway in her 2007 toyota camry le. a truck behind her attempting to change lanes rear-ended her and caused a chain-reaction crash involving 5 vehicles. the toyota sustained heavy damage to the back and front of the vehicle and was deemed a total loss. all of the toyota's airbags failed to deploy. the truck's airbags were deployed as well as the bmw. the suv's airbags did not deploy (it was an earlier model suv). my daughter was transported to the emergency room where it was determined that she sustained a severe whiplash injury to her neck and a bruised arm. she later complained of pain radiating down her back. please refer to recall id #06v096000 - air bags recall date: april 03, 2006. we were not informed of the airbag recall. we received a reply from toyota suggesting that the impact did not occur in the proper position for the airbags to deploy what is the purpose of airbags if it fails to deploy during an accident and the sensors need to be hit in a certain position? a copy of the toyota letter may be provided to the nhtsa upon request. please provide any information concerning collisions where the airbags did not deploy. *tr
Airbag indicator light came on for apparently no reason, took car in for service and was told it was not an issue with toyota, i had to pay to get part replaced, after almost $400 repair cost, got vehicle back and running. this issue should not be put on the back of consumers as these are safety parts that should last much longer that average parts of the cars. *tr
The dashboard in my 2007 toyota camry has started melting off, and under the sun's heat it becomes very soft, sticky and bright, and when the sun reflects on the dashboard it causes visibility/safety issues. also, i'm afraid the airbag under the dashboard may become affected if the dashboard cracks or breaks. *tr
Dashboard of subject vehicle started displaying signs of a very sticky substance in the summer of 2013. i purchased this vehicle in dec. of 2010 with one previous owner .. signs of melting dashboard did not appear for several years past the warranty. internet search reveals that numerous toyota owners have experienced this same problem. after dealing with toyota directly, i was told they would provide a replacement dashboard but that i would have to pay $624 in labor. my position is that this is either a products liability, implied warranty of merchantability, or latent defect issue and has no bearing on an expired warranty. in addition, there may be a safety concern with deployment of the airbag due to deteriorating dashboard, not to mention the possibility of toxic fumes circulating throughout the vehicle. i firmly believe that toyota should issue a recall due to numerous similar complaints (see http://tsikot.com/forums/toyota-cars-talk-80/2008-camry-sticky-dashboard-89916/ also http://www.justanswer.com/toyota/70no2-toyota-camry-se-sticky-dashboard-2007 camry-how.html and http://www.howtomake.org/0pvgkmoneyls3w74/toyota-camry-sticky-dashboard.html). *tr
I rear-ended another vehicle traveling at no less than 35mph. the impact was severe enough that my insurance company has indicated that the car will probably be deemed totaled. my airbags failed to deploy and i sustained soft tissue injuries to my neck and shoulders. i reiterate that no airbag in my vehicle deployed, in spite of the speed and severity of the crash. *tr
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the passenger side dashboard had deteriorated around the air bag area and she was able to see the air bag. the dealer diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was notified failure the approximate failure mileage was 34,000. ne
When driving on the no 1 lane (by the carpool lane), an suv crossed the double yellow lines and rear ended my left side at approximate 40mph. my passengers were shaken up while i was taken to the er. i did noticed that my airbags did not deploy. after the accident i did some searching and came to find out that airbags for this particular model do not deploy!!! not to mentioned that prior to this finding, i had taken my car back to the dealer for an accelerator issue. also pending is the sun visor recall as well. *tr
Driver of 2007 toyota camry was struck head-on by dodge caravan while traveling at approximately 39 mph. the off-center frontal impact caused moderate to severe damage to the front bumper/hood/engine area/driver side fender with slight to moderate deformation of the driver's compartment. driver of camry was fatally injured due to blunt force trauma to the chest which resulted in an aortic tear. driver's supplemental restraint / steering wheel airbag did deploy, the side air bags did not deploy...updated10/17/14 *bf 10/22/14 *dsy 10/27/14* bf *tr updated 7/22/2015 *js
On tuesday 3/5/2013 while driving on a street with no stop sign/traffic signals (i had the right of way) another driver either failed to stop at the stop sign or stopped but did not see me and hit me so hard that my car was totaled ( the battery was actually loosened from the engine). my concern is that none of the airbags deployed. i realize that this incident was more than a year ago but i am concerned that this may be a safety issue with airbags failing to deploy despite heavy impacts (the other vehicle was a larger older work van). *tr
