Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the driver side sun visor became partially detached obscuring the vision of the driver. the contact was waiting for diagnosis from the dealer. the failure and current mileages were 129,396.

I purchased a new 2007 toyota camry in november 2006 from a toyota dealership and keep it parked in my garage when it's not being used. about two years ago, the heat of the sun began melting my dashboard. the dashboard started to look very glossy and shiny and feel very sticky, like glue. parts of it began to peel. when i am driving on a hot sunny day, the shine of the dashboard creates a glare on my windshield that makes it difficult to see the road ahead. i took it to the toyota dealership hoping that they would repair it as it is a manufacturer's defect, but they said that i would have to pay around $3,000 to replace the dash. they also acknowledged that this was a common problem with toyota camry models manufactured between 2007 and 2010, yet they never issued a recall for this problem. it's clear from this that it was perfectly feasible for them to use a different material made to withstand heat in warmer climates, but they did not. this manufacturer's defect is hazardous as it can impair the driver's vision when the glare is strong. i kindly request that the nhtsa take some action to address this issue. *tr

Visor on drivers side fell down blocking a forward view. *tr

The dashboard is melting and has been for a couple of years. when i brought it into dealership, they said it was because of some cleaner that i used. then i found out that many 2007 camry owners are having same problem and toyota refuses to admit that they have a defected product. i am 62 years old and have never had this happen to another vehicle - and i've had other toyotas . why is there not a recall???????????????? the dealership try to pass it off as the consumers' fault when it is actually toyota's. what can i do? *tr

While driving, the sun visor fell to the down position and remained in that position, which completely blocked the driver's vision of the road and traffic. the visor would not remain in the up position. *tr

The sun visor on the driver side won't stay up if flops down and is difficult to see to drive. it flopped while i was driving and i had to slow down push it to side ways and continue driving and later need to remove it completely to continue driving. the piece that goes into the sunvisor itself that holds the visor up is broken. it looks to have come out of its "slot". the metal bracket within visor broke the plastic slot that holds the bracket. *tr

Our driverside sunvisor started drooping and the light stopped working! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving 25 mph, he smelled an odor of smoke. the contact the rolled down the front driver's window and saw smoke. the contact rolled the window back up and noticed smoke coming from the control panel of the window. the contact was able to successfully maneuver to the shoulder and stop the vehicle. the vehicle was then shut off for approximately twenty minutes while the contact waited for the smoke to stop. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the dealer stated that they had to replace the master switch for the windows. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 41,700 and the current mileage 41,750.

The driver side sun visor broke. the visor won't stay up. it flops down and is difficult to see when driving. e.g. the upper half of my visibility is gone. it can't be moved to the side either, as it is broken at the top. after 5 days of driving with the broken sun visor, i almost hit a pedestrian today due to the limited visibility. toyota dealer charges $160 total to replace it. i take care of my car well. i read complaints on internet that there are many other camry owners have the same issue. it's highly likely that this is a defect. toyota dealer charges $160 total to replace it. *tt

The dashboard is melting and cracking. the seal or rubber that goes around the windshield glass is coming off while driving on highway over 65 miles. *tr

The driver side visor is defective in my opinion which is preventing me to properly see the road. this part cannot rest on the roof but rather it droops down in a slanted angel. the rear doom light is falling apart exposing wirings in the passenger compartment. *tr

The drivers side sun visor does not stay in "up" position. it will drop down while driving and can be dangerous. i finally had to remove the visor completely from the car, which causes another driving hazard during periods of bright sun light (even with sun glasses on). several people have reported the same problem on the toyota owners website. should be recalled. dealer wants $200 to repair. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the front driver's side power window switch overheated and shortened the circuit for the remaining three power windows. there were no flames present. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 12v491000 (visibility:power window devices and controls) however, the remaining damages that resulted from the overheated switch were not repaired. in addition, the accelerator pedal became stuck whenever pressure was applied. the failure of the accelerator pedal was not present prior to the recall repairs. the vehicle was not further repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 156,133.

The area on the front part of the dashboard (next to the windshield) has become sticky and shiny. it is tacky to the touch and easily gouges. it creates a glare for the driver that can impair his ability to drive. we have tried washing the area and it does not improve the condition! it is dangerous and unsightly! *tr

The dashboard on my 2007 toyota camry has melted and is very sticky. it is easily damaged just by lightly bumping it. also, the glare from the dashboard is extremely dangerous. since i drive to work facing the sun and drive home facing the sun, the commute is very difficult, tiresome, and dangerous. please advise me how to rectify this problem. *tr

I purchased my camry used in august 2010 and a couple of months after owning the car, the driver side sunvisor had to be removed because it flopped down and would not stay up when put up. in july 2012, the exact same identical thing happened with the passenger side and it's now hanging down and will not go back up and stay. i can feel in the seem that it's broken but cannot fix it. everyone, including myself that gets in the passenger side hits their heads on it since it's hanging down. it's definitely a safety issue because of blocking the views especially with the driver side...that's why we removed it completely. i contacted toyota customer service sometime ago and all they said was that there was no recall on the items. ridiculous! i've priced the visors thru the dealership i bought the car and the price was around $100. toyota needs to replace them, i feel! *tr

Driver side visor replaced last year (2011) due to same issue: visor directly impacted driver's view. sun visor on passenger side now drooping after shifting position to put sun shade in place. exact same problem. droop getting worse; visor does not stay in position and impedes driver's peripheral view. *tr

Driver's side sun visor broke for no apparent reason. defective part. i used to own a 1997 toyota camry and drove over 200,000 miles and the sun visor was fine. i was searching on the web to find a replacement part but instead found a website that other people have posted having same problem with this defective part. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/104-5th-6th-generation-2002-2006-2007-2011/343284-2007-camry-sun-visor-problem-2.html additionally, i received a letter from toyota regarding a recall about the accelerator problem and tried to set up an appointment through an email with courtesy toyota service center and they did not respond to my inquiry nor willing to set up an appointment to cure the recall issue. courtesy toyota 9210 adamo drive tampa, fl 33619 *tr

The visor mirror dropped down and will not stay up. this blocks my visibility by 80% and it will not pass inspection. this is a danger because i cannot see at my full potential. *tr

Melting, sticky dash which causes a glare during daylight driving. *tr

In my 2007 toyota camry, at first (approx. 2011) the dashboard would feel sticky, as if something had spilled on it. however the stickiness could not be cleaned up. it was in fact the material of the dashboard melting. it continues to get worse and spreads across a larger area, to the point that now (2014) the dash cannot be touched without a mark being left in the melted material. it looks wet and is so glossy that the glare is impossible to see through most of the day. this is clearly a manufacturers defect and should be recalled as it is a safety hazard, not just with the blinding glare which impairs vision, but because the passenger airbag is contained inside of the dashboard and the dashboard being melted may affect its deployment. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the front driver's side sun visor would continually release from its housing and hang down, obstructing the contact's visibility of the roadway. the contact completely removed the sun visor from the vehicle and when needed, he would manually hold the sun visor in place. the dealer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that there was a voluntary recall for the failure but the contact's vin was not included in the recall. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that when the sun shined through the front windshield onto the dashboard, she was blinded by the glare from the dashboard. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v689000 (visibility) however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount for time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 100,000.

The drivers sunvisor will not stay up. it drops down and obstructs your vision . this is a common problem with these cars and is very dangerous. *tr

My 2007 camry's dashboard seems to be "melting." it is very sticky and reflects a glare on the windshield - making it hard to see. i am afraid it will eventually lead to an accident. i have heard of others having the same problem, so i know there must be a solution or a recall soon. toyota changed dashboard material in 2009 (from what i heard on the news) so it makes me believe that they were aware of the issue... please help! *tr

Sun visor broke, not able to raise visor completely up or down which which blocks my vision line. *tr

I purchased the camry back in 2010. car was great, looked great. dash looked good, or at least i thought the dealers detailer made it look good. shortly afterwards, noticed the dash was incredibly sticky. took it to back to the dealer i bought it from and extended warranty would not cover the dashboard, and it was out of manufacturers warranty. took it to toyota dealer too and they said toyota would not cover either. the dash is incredibly sticky, like the glue that toyota used to glue the top material down on the dash is seeping through the top layer. the glue creates an incredible glare when driving, which can be incredibly dangerous during sunny days as it makes things hard to see unless you're wearing a pair of sunglasses, and even so the glare is still there. the glue also makes things stick to the dash, making it incredibly hard to clean as well, which can also show up on the glare on the windshield. i've never used any greasy, or oily products to clean my dash as i was worried about making the glue/glare problem even worse. i'm tempted to either buy a dash cover, which ironically will stick to the dashboard, or tint my windshield to keep the glare down. it's very disappointing toyota cheaped out on the material used in the dash, that's going to hurt resale value for all camrys with the issue down the road, and can create dangerous conditions if the glare is bad enough for some people. i moderate a toyota forum and i see this exact issue pop up a lot. i've included a few links for reference. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/104-5th-6th-generation-2002-2006-2007-2011/391341-2007-toyota-camry-dashboard-melting-under-florida-heat.html http://www.nairaland.com/1095499/07-08-camry-dashboard-melting http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/21726645/exclusive-some-toyota-camrys-suffer-from-sticky-cracking-dashboards. *tr

Driver's sun visor will not stay in place, dangerously blocking driver's vision. about 7 months later, the passengers also broke. toyota refuses to acknowledge this defect that creates a safety hazard. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the sun visor would not remain upright. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the sun visor was replaced however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.

The driver-side sun visor mounting mechanism failed causing the visor to dangle and swing freely, obstructing driver's view of the road. the first failure occurred in may 2010 and was replaced, the replacement also failed (as the first visor) in july 2014. the defect in the visor design flaw was never corrected causing it fail repeatedly. toyota is aware of the problem but does not consider this a safety issue. toyota also refused to replace the visor the second time stating it was out of warranty. research on the internet revealed that this a common problem with camry sun visors. *tr

Dash board is very sticky, becoming shiny, composition is changing to very soft, easily depressed and indented, and progressively getting worse. shiny dashboard causes glare to reflect on windshield affecting visibility while driving on sunny days. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the driver's side sun visor plastic holder detached from its housing, causing the sun visor to hang abnormally. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 39,000 and the current mileage was 130,000. the vin was not available.

The sun visor hangs down obstructing the driver's view through the front windshield, naturally, creating a hazard. the item has been replaced twice prior to now (5/9/09 & 6/24/2010) for the same complaint. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the dashboard had an extreme glare and was causing difficulty with visibility while the contact was traveling at any speed. the dashboard also exhibited cracks and was to the point of deterioration. the vehicle was to be inspected, diagnosed and repaired. the vin was not available. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was not available.

Dashboard is melting. whenever sun is up, reflection from this melted dashboard on windshield is so bad, you can't even see good. *tr

My dash board is melting and it reflect glares on windshield so bad you can hardly see when sunny outside. *tr

...form # 3 request #215013 chat transcript (e-mail)the toyota sticky dashboard lawsuit was filed in the u.s. district court for the district of south carolina - wendy george v. toyota motor corp., et al. the plaintiff was represented by richardson, patrick, westbrook & brickman, llc. says it will take about 16 years to repair the vehicles on the dealer waiting list. by that time the vehicles would likely "be out of use"!!!!!!!!!!!! there was also lawsuit filed by melissa graham, the owner of a 2009 toyota camry. that lawsuit, melissa graham v. toyota motor corp., et al., was dismissed after toyota announced the warranty program. because this was not a recall toyota motor corporation is refusing to replace the sticky dashboard resulting from heat of summer and winter heating which causes eye, throat and lung irritation, clouding, glare of windshield and eyeglasses. the clock mounted on the dashboard has a cloud over the plastic cover making it almost impossible to read as well as plastic cover over dome lights. i brought all of this to the attention of service advisor prior to the toyota warranty enhancement which ended may 2017, however the service advisor told me it was not a known issue, did not record the issue and suggested whatever i used to clean the dash, clock and dome light created the problem. my question, what is it going to take to make toyota motor corporation take responsibility of this health and safety hazard? perhaps another class action suit now that it is well documented dealers are reselling these vehicles with the dashboard defect and denying replacement due to may 2017 expiration date to those of us still driving these vehicles .no manufacturer should be allowed to deny liability for a defect that is clearly a health and safety hazard. i also explained repeatedly to service director and customer service numerous invalid warranties were received
