Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2007 Toyota Camry

The new 2007 camry has always had an uneven acceleration and slowing. it is as though the transmission is always "searching" for the correct gear. as a result, the engine is always changing speeds. during the initial repair, the service manager stated that they have "a lot" of these types of complaints and said the software was updated. on subsequent repairs i was told the same thing and that toyota could not repair the problem that the 2007 camrys had. when i asked about serious damage to the transmission or accidents i was told that i have a warranty. i e-mailed toyota but did not receive a response. i believe this is a potential safety issue and am uncomfortable driving the vehicle. *tr

In september 2006 i traded a perfectly performing 4 cyl 2006 camry for a 2007 4 cyl camry because i liked the new design. i still like the new design but have been quite annoyed and concerned about the car's failure to accelerate when needed. from a complete stop or near stop when a quick take-off is needed the initial response is at times zilch/zero/0. i have taken the car back to the dealer who had the computer recalibrated. this lasted for a while, but it did not solve the problem. i have not gone back because i believe the issue is greater than "recalibrating". i believe this is a safety issue that should be addressed by the manufacturer. *jb updated 06/23/08.

The accelerator of my toyota camry 2007 (purchased in april of 2007) has the "hesitation issue". the car doesn't proceed at all or gain enough speed to proceed immediately after my stepping on the gas pedal from a full-stopped position. i had an accident on 10/02/07 partially due to the issue because i couldn't avoid fast enough a vehicle making a reckless left-turn. there was no injury among riders in my car although the other driver escaped the accident scene and i'm not sure whether the driver is hurt. my car is in an auto body shop currently but wouldn't like to drive it once it is fixed a few days from today. do you have any suggestions? thank you. *jb

Complete loss of oil from vvt oil line. no events just got home from 100 mile trip saw oil slick when backing into parking spot. luckily shut engine off before ran dry. smoke just starting. *tr

I purchased a 2007 camry 4 cylinder in sept 2006. this is the 6th toyota i have owned and is by far the worst reforming. i have 8000 miles on the car and have had problems with the transmission since the initial purchase. the car is not safe to drive as it presently performs. it significantly hesitates when accelerating such as when entering a highway or changing lanes on the interstate. there is a noticeable 1-2 second delay from the time the accelerator is depressed and the car begins to accelerate. in addition, when in cruise control, the transmission seems to be searching for the correct gear with the engine revving up significantly as it downshifts while going up an incline. i have been back to the dealer 5 times and had the ny regional toyota rep drive the car. the transmission solenoid has been replaced, and a corrective tsb has been performed twice. i have also called toyota in california. the car still does not perform properly and is hazardous to drive. the response from the dealer and toyota has been "the car is performing as designed". *jb

2007 camry 4 cylinder hesitates and could case an accident. car has been reprogrammed and reported to toyota customer service with no additional help. *jb

I purchased my 4 cyl 2007 toy. camry le in 8/06. i felt this was an investment much like my other 2. however, by the 1st oil change i discovered the problem of hesitation and stalling when accelerating from a stopped position. after a complaint to the service department, i was told they could "recalibrate" the transmission and fix the issue. i allowed the adj. to be performed. the issue was improved for a couple of weeks but much to my dismay returned within a couple of weeks. once again, i complained to my dealer and was told that "it was just the way the new camry was made to achieve better gas mileage and that if i wanted more power, i should have bought a 6 cyl." the salesman that sold me the car, offered the solution of me purchasing a turbo booster for the car. the cost estimated in the thousands. this was not an option. the problem worsened in the winter months, causing me many instances of close calls. on one occasion i made a legal right turn on red when it appeared the path was clear, a driver suddenly changed their mind to come straight into my lane behind me. i looked in my rearview mirror, saw the oncoming car, pressed the gas and the car went no where, simply coasted down the on ramp. i pressed the gas pedal to the floor and after a few seconds the car kicked into gear, redlined in rpms and finally took off allowing me to get out of the other driver's way. there have been too many other instances to discuss in this forum, however, this was the worst and most scary. i implore your organization to make toyota take responsibility for the problem and fix it. the calibration is not a viable solution b/c it does not cure the problem, merely stops the complaint for a few weeks. i have had this car for 1 year now and felt that i had no recourse on the issue any longer until the news reports came out. i have a renewed hope that your concerns will prompt further investigation and acceptable solution to this potentially deadly issue. *jb

Acceleration hesitating at every stop, turn, lane change, and any forward movement. that results in slow down and acceleration is applied. is definitely dangerous! *tr

I purchased the toyota camry 2007 le automatic in may 07 from lakeforest toyota in gaithersburg md. it has only 2,980 miles on it. the vehicle experiences loss of power when turning in intersections. this occurs mainly on right turns follows stops at stop signs and traffic signals. when starting into a turn, the car occasionally fails to respond to the accelerator. you can press the pedal to the floor and the car may not respond or only barely respond. this leaves the vehicle stuck in the intersection with approaching traffic. performance is inconsistent with this problem occurring sometimes and not other. it has happened to me several time. i consider this a very serious safety problem that is likely to cause accidents and fatalities. frankly, i'm afraid to drive the car. i had one experience where another vehicle has to slam on their brakes and stopped within a few feet of my car when camry failed to respond to the accelerator. i won't make a turn unless i have two to three time as much open road as i did in my prior vehicles. toyota is aware of the problem. the problem reported on wcnc in lincoln county north carolina on sept 13, 2007. *jb

Car hesitation when pulling into traffic which caused us to get almost hit. hesitates when slowing down to go around corner and takes seconds after car has shifted back down to 1st to get up and go which scares me that i will be hit from behind. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving at any speed, the accelerator intermittently hesitates. the failure usually occurs when attempting to accelerate from a stop, when making a turn, and on major streets. the vehicle would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. she has taken the vehicle to the dealer a couple of times and was informed that the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was also taken to the dealer a couple of times because the gears would shift as if the transmission were manual, but it is an automatic. the contact informed the dealer that there was a service bulletin that described her failures exactly. the dealer recalibrated her computer and there was a slight improvement with both the vehicle hesitating and the gears shifting as though they were manual. both failures continue to occur. she was informed that nothing could be done. the vin was unknown. the current mileage was 12,100 and failure mileage was 10,550. the consumer stated the vehicle would not accelerate from a stop. the transmission felt like a manual transmission. updated 11/26/07. *jb

When starting out, if it is necessary to accelerate quickly, my 2007 toyota camry practically stalls before finally picking up speed. it does not happen every time, but when it does it is unnerving, to say the least! it is quite dangerous, and i have come close to being hit several times. now i just make sure i have an excess of space before i pull out of a side street or parking area.*jb

The car slows suddenly while slowing down at around 40 mph and you will feel like some one holding the car from moving forward. and suddenly accelerates at around 25 mph even if you are not pushing the gas pedal. that day there was a traffic congestion on a highway and the traffic was moving around 40 mph. i was about to hit another car in front of me because of this problem, but i managed by braking the car with more force. i explained the problem to the dealer and took it to the dealer. the mechanic took a test drive and says the car is downshifting and that's why you feel that braking. and everything is normal. its me who is living with the car and it is abnormal to me. they applied some tsb (fix to the computer) but it not much helpful. *tr

07 toyota camry--transmission failures and wind like noise at all times on the driver's side window. the consumer stated there is a transmission failure when shifting from reverse to drive with a 3-5 second pause before drive engages and a sudden lunge. updated 09/25/07 *tr

2007 camry transmission flare. *tr

Bought 2007 camry se on july 23, 2007. have taken it back to the dealer 4 times for the following transmission problems: 1. transmission "bogs down" or hesitates when attempting to accelerate, for about 2-3 seconds. re-calibration of the ecm did not help. i have never been in a crash in my 24 years of driving, but within the first 21 days of owning this vehicle, i have caused three crashes to *almost* occur. the transmission hesitates when attempting to accelerate, then when the pedal is pushed down to the floor, it over-compensates and i've almost ran over the person in front of me. the other two times occurred when the vehicles behind me have almost run me over...their vehicles accelerate normally, while mine has a 2-3 second delay. 2. the transmission also seems to be confused when driving between the speeds of 28 to 35, 38 to 42, and 45 to 51. it shifts continually and at this rate, this transmission will be wore out by 37,000 miles (but they won't care, because by then the warranty will be expired). this is clearly an unsafe situation and *someone* needs to do something about it before it causes a fatal crash. *tr

For the past yr the car shakes between 45-35mph when slowing to brake, rotor replaced and brakes replaced. also a/c system smells of urine 80% of time, lastly engine when braking and depressing gas to accel. jumps and is unsafe. *tr

Transmissions pauses before engaging. *tr

Our 2007 camry hesitates when accelerating from a stop or accelerating from a low speed. the situation has occurred several time both before and after the computer was reset. *jb

Bought new 2007 toyota camry in march, 2007. continue to experience flare up in rpm with corresponding down shifting of transmission driving on inclined road, however slightly inclined. car cannot hold set speed on cruise control without down shifting and going like a bat out of hell over- shooting set speed before shifting back up again. have had tsb installed which was supposed to correct this problem. it did not. have had car into toyota dealer 4 times with same problems (still not fixed). *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. whenever the contact decelerates from 20 mph and then begins to accelerate, the vehicle stalls for 1-5 seconds before accelerating. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the failure was a characteristic of the vehicle and would repair itself over time. the failure still persists. the current mileage was 37,000 and failure mileage was 23,000. updated 09/10/08. *lj updated 09/16/08. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 3 mph, the vehicle lost power, but the engine continued to run. the dealer was unable to repair the vehicle and found nothing wrong with its computer. the vehicle only accelerates when the accelerator pedal is almost depressed to the floor. the current mileage was 3771 and failure mileage was 1,000. updated 02/01/08. *lj the consumer stated the vehicle would hesitate.

Severe hesitation problem with 2007 toyota camry transmission--not an incident but an ongoing problem. *ak

2007 toyota camry car has a bad hesitation when accelerating onto freeway or when downshifting and then trying to accelerate. had toyota dealer check car and they said everything operated normally. the situation can be dangerous and could easily lead to an accident. the lag is 1.5-2 seconds from the time of pushing the throttle hard. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 30 mph and merging in traffic, the vehicle hesitated for a couple of seconds before it accelerated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they reprogrammed the computer, however, this did not correct the failure. the vin was unknown. the current mileage was 2,500 and failure mileage was 10. updated 10/24/07.*jb

Car hesitates than jumps when gas pedal is pushed..very dangerous at intersection. *tr

Purchased 2007 toyota camry 4 cyl. have had trouble with the car accelerating speed. has happened over a dozen times. in october was on a residential street - car accelerated and i swerved to miss boy on bike (damage to bumper) hit curb. also, when trying to merge from stop will hit pedal - hesitation car does not move - have almost been hit 3 times. have had car back to dealership - they pretend they have not heard of any problems. shortly after purchasing my car they had a meeting for all new car owners. five couples reported the same problem. when i called in december for a check into this problem (have been in touch with toyta - who also deny knowing of any problems - contacted them because i did not want car - afraid to drive) - the manager said he had heard of no such complaints. reminded him that myself and five other new car owners had complained to him at the meeting. toyota is going to have big problems - must have told managers to deny any problems!!!!! as they themselves are doing. how many people have to be in an accident. i have told my family that if i am in a fatal car accident - i want them to sue toyota. afraid to drive car. had car to dealership - since the two problems i stated only happen sporadically - they said they test drove car and saw no problems. don't know how far they test drove - mileage at pickup was the exact same as drop off reading. car had same problems on the way home - can you help me and any other toyota owners. can't afford to trade in car. please help me - what can i do. *tr

My 2007 camry se v6 has a serious problem with hesitation. it has a 2 second delay when coming into traffic. when the car is driving and then coasts at one speed, and you try to move into another lane by pressing the gas, the car waits and then jolts forward. this is a serious problem because it can lead to being rear ended by other traffic. you know there is plenty of time to get in, but the car reduced much of that time, by not going anywhere. *tr

Sluggish transmission. when merging to highway traffic i found extremely sluggish response to transmission. i was almost rear ended in more then one occasion. i understand this is a common problem with many 2007 camrys. i have been driving over 12 years and never had any such problem. *ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact was driving approximately between 40-55 mph on normal road conditions when the accelerator pedal began to stick. there was an application of excessive force to the brake pedal with both feet. the vehicle skidded and loss control and suddenly, the accelerator pedal released. the driver was able to gain control and resume to normal operation. the failure occurred constantly at least three times a week. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on nine separate occasions for the identical failures. there were replacements of the transmission control module (tcm) and transmission. the failures continued which there were no resolutions. the failure mileage was unavailable.

I slowed down the car at the end of an interstate exit ramp to check for traffic and thinking i had enough time to cross the intersection i gave it gas and got very little acceleration. when i pushed the gas to the floor i still got no more acceleration. i wrote the toyota service department to make an appointment to bring it in and received the response that they were aware of the problem, but at this time there was no solution so do not bring the car in. if there had been more traffic in that situation it would have caused a wreck. acceleration is also very erratic when using cruise control, going up a slight hill will cause the motor to race. also, it requires quite a lot of force to stop the car. *tr

Noticed dangerous hesitation/downshifting on my 2007 4cly camry day after purchase, called service dept told them of problems on day 3, closed sunday called monday told of problems, was told to drive for one week so car can learn driving habits. i did on last day i tried to pull out of driveway car hesitated and jumped forward, almost hit a ups truck. called dealer again told them of problems, this time was told no fix at this time but not to worry because like the v6 camry they had to pull all of lot for transmission problems, when and if toyota comes up with fix toyota will let me know. didn't wait for fix traded that day. the 4cly toyota camry is dangerous. this problem needs to be recalled before someone gets killed pulling into traffic. toyota did tell me that there is a problem but didn't know what fix will be but are working on it. *tr

Purchased a 07 camry from down east toyota in maine 6-2-07 noticed next day a dangerous hesitation problem with car, called det service dept 2-4-07 with complaint i was told to drive for a week so car could learn driving habits, so i did. pulled into traffic several times that week and few times the car would hesitate and jump forward, on 6-11-07 called det service dept again because that morning trying to pull out of driveway car hesitated jumped forward almost hitting a ups truck, very dangerous!! while talking to service dept this time i was told that driving the camry for a week would not help the hesitation problem but not to worry because like the 07 v6 camry they had to pull all off the lot for transmission problems when and if toyota comes up with a fix they would let me know. i traded the camry back in because of the dangerous hesitation problem and lost 7000.00 in ten days?? when i questioned kevin kelly the general mgr i was told by him that he did hold a gun to my head to buy the camry or to trade it back in, and nothing i could do about loosing 7000.00 because he can do as he wants. the salesman don scott told us that the saturday he sold us our camry he sold three and two have come back because of this problem, tracy simpson at paper signing told us that she also heard of this problem. with being told no fix for a dangeous problem like this, trading a car back in 10 days losing 7000.00 is just wrong!!! now to this date three tsb's out for this dangerous problem that becomes normal when tsb fail to fix problem. is this dangerous hesitation problem related to the socalled floor mat turned to gas pedal problem?? just not right for det or toyota to keep getting away with this??? *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry which was purchased brand new. while traveling 5 mph and up and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle slowly picked up speed and would often hesitate. the dealer could not duplicate the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was operating according to the manufacturer's specifications. there was an open recall on the vehicle (nhtsa campaign id number: 10v017000, vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal) and the related repair was performed. the failure persisted. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that since the recall repairs were performed on the vehicle they would not assist any further. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was approximately 50,000. updated 5/10/10 *cn the consumer stated the vehicle would hesitate upon acceleration. there was a delay when attempting to accelerate. updated 09/16/10

Transmission hesitation happens daily, talked dealer they said all camrys do this nothing can be done. *tr

There is a hesitation upon accelerating when passing, exiting interstate or starting up hill after turning a corner. this is a serious safety issue as it can cause an accident due to the delay of acceleration.

2007 toyata camry se with 4 cylinder engine hesitates on acceleration. this happens mainly from a stop and on accelerations at slower speeds. if you are trying to merge into traffic this can be dangerous

when starting vehicle up from a cold it revs up when you put it in gear it larches fwd you have to apply the brakes hard to stop it then the revving goes down i also get the erratic cruse control when used the sped goes up and down constantly shifting 5-3 overshooting the set speed toyota says this is the way the manufacture designed the car to operate

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while parking the vehicle, the gear shift indicator became stuck in the neutral position. there were no warning indicators. the vehicle was pushed and the parking brake was applied. the vehicle had to be towed. the dealer diagnosed the failure as the flange nut coming off the vehicle. the vehicle has been repaired. the failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 1,550.

Vehicle information: 2007 camry se v6 purchased in toronto, ontario, canada in sep 2007 ? vehicle manufacturing date aug 29, 2007. deficiencies: 1) hesitation the vehicle would not respond to acceleration (even with full throttle) after driving in heavy traffic (stop and go) or driving very passively. this symptom is consistence and hesitation is long and common is 80 klm speed. the vehicle does not down shift at all. change my dealer after reporting it twice with no action. new dealer has acknowledged the problem and has reprogrammed the transmission chip as per tsb. (will pick up the vehicle today) 2) crackling noise from control are and dashboard next to windshield during entire cold season. noises appear every few second. over 90% of the problem disappears during warmer weather. change my dealer after reporting it twice with no action. new dealer has acknowledged the problem and has added additional insulation as per tsb to control area only. the dashboard noise next to windshield could not be replicated. i have to bring the vehicle to dealer during winter month to replicate the problem before any action is taken. 3) thumping noise from rear end of the vehicle on bumps (like a lose watermelon in your trunk). again, first dealer did nothing. new dealer has acknowledged the problem and has added additional insulation to struts as per tsb, 4) high revving and transmission not in gear in sudden acceleration. similar response as you are driving a manual transmission and you continue to accelerate while changing gear. new dealer suggest that the reprogramming should take care of this. *tr

Severe hesitation in throttle and transmission of the 2007 camry causing near t-bone accidents when you give it gas and go nowhere. also when traveling, when you give it gas to get into another lane, you go nowhere for a delayed period then all of a sudden you launch forward after its too late almost running into cars in front of you. appears as if the transmission is confused. many near accidents because of this. contacted toyota who agreed to "flash" the computer or reset it. this reset helped at first, at take off only, however now is back to what it was doing before. contacted toyota again and was told that there is nothing they can do. this is very dangerous... *tr

Since the purchase of 2007 camry le, we have noticed hesitation upon acceleration, especially from a complete stop. this is extremely dangerous when trying to cross traffic or merge into traffic. hesitation also noted on deceleration. dealer made aware, stated that this is normal for the car. i don't believe that. *jb

Car will hesitate for nearly 3 seconds when pressing the accelerator hard to enter a freeway from 30-40mph on the entrance ramp. does not repeat itself as the car has to be under a certain load, throttle position, and speed. the randomness of the issue will leave you startled and cringing in fear of a near miss. engine seems to stall then transmission will finally drop down one gear which is not enough to bring the engine rpm up. then at the last moment, the transmission downshifts and the motor comes alive. happens sometimes when passing. all other times it is ok. this is going to get someone killed. taking it to the dealership is useless as they deny, deny, deny and state they can't replicate. it is a definite software issue between the engine ecu and the transmission ecu. what is the purpose of a 268bhp v6 engine if you can not utilize that power when needed? *tr

Bought 2007 camry in may 2007. car was manufactured in october 2006. car had severe hesitation upon acceleration in lower gears, first and second. it was especially bad when running the air conditioning. there have been times when the car will not accelerate when pulling into traffic, which was dangerous. dealer was unaware of a solution for the problem. this was obviously a common problem reflecting camry vehicles, and needed to be dealt with immediately. *ak

Car, since new, has an issue where it seems to stall while accelerating moderately to wot from a speed range beginning around 30-35mph to around 50mph based on certain conditions. mostly happens when accelerating to enter a highway or to make a lane change/pass. the power output of the engine seems to be pulled back by the ecm (like toyota's traction control) as it does not seem to lug like a manual in too high a gear. there is no initial shift down of the transmission. in just over a second, the transmission finally shifts down to the next gear but it is still not enough as the engine out put is low due to that gear being too low in the powerband. suddenly, the transmission shifts down to the next gear, being the appropriate gear for the engine load/speed, the power on the engine kicks up (265bhp) and causes the car to lurch forward. if the wheel is turned as if to take a lane or pass, this becomes near violent, startling the driver and possible means to loose control in less tractable conditions. please note that this is with the accelerator pedal held in the 60-100% range. if, when this condition arises, the driver takes their foot off the accelerator, the powertrain seems to stall and stutter. took to the dealership several times. it almost caused an accident 3 times as the car normally has a lot of power (265bhp v6). toyota customer care was involved but based their decision on dealer that did nothing. it took me a long while to finally figure out the circumstances needed to make this issue repeat as needed. the tcu puts the transmission into 6th gear at too low a speed 30-50mph and possibly into lock-up. neither should happen. the ecu sees the engine struggling with the load and pulls back the power to prevent over-torquing and damaging the power train. analogous with trying to takeoff from a stop with a manual trans in 3rd or 4th gear. *js

Ongoing problems with hesitation upon acceleration since day one. brought to the dealer's attention and problem was not corrected--still exists. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the vehicle's automatic transmission has poor lag and response time when accelerating. when driving 20-30 mph and shifting from second to third gear, the vehicle decelerates and pulls back as if there is no overdrive. the contact stated that he first experienced the vehicle delay within the first 100 miles and it has recurred ever since. the weather is not a factor. the engine size was unknown. the current mileage is 5,684 and failure mileage was 100.

I bought 07 camry from local toyota dealership in 2007. from the start i've noticed the car was consuming oil. there is no trace of leak anywhere but was taking oil. without much thought, i would add oil as needed. as the mileage start to rack up, the problem is too obvious and it is getting worse. at the beginning, i did not know how much oil was being consumed. then i stared to use ticker oil hoping the problem would go away. it did not and i am still using ticker oil (5w20 to 5w30) oil consumption problem, i think is progressively getting worse. the car now has 65,000 miles and late last summer (2011) i've seen oil adding every month (about every 1,000 miles). local dealer said a quart every 1,000 miles is normal. service manager is saying that toyota stated the consuming a quart every 1,000 mile is normal. so go complain to toyota corp is what they said. i felt like i was talking to a brick wall. dealership said i should go through oil consumption test, which i stated the process in december of 2011. they had put in half inch above the full mark on the dipstick, which i would have though they would have noted this. after i come back after 1,000 miles, oil consumption was there but they claim 1/2 quart in 1,000 miles. not considering how much they have over filled or had any idea of that fact. i started looking into this in web and also learned that dealership uses additive to not consume oil in consumption testing. i cannot win over dishonest experts at the dealership. this is a serious problem. i cannot sell this car as i am not about to lie about the oil consumption to a buyer. who would want to buy my car that consumes a quart every 1,000 mile. i can tell a buyer "this is normal in toyota standard"; would a buyer understand this? toyota is trying to turn away their problem onto their customer. *tr

I don't not if this is a power train issue or not, but this vehicle, 2007' camry le 4 cylinder can't seem to keep a set speed when in cruise. it is constantly fighting itself to maintain a speed shifting down then up several times. also, when taking off or slowing for a turn it doesn't seem to down shift into a lower gear. and finally when it does shift it throws you everywhere. i am very dissatisfied with the new camry for this reason only. i love everything else, but if this isn't fixed, i think this is the end of toyota buying.*ak

My wife and i purchased a 2007 camry le, 4-cylinder, 5-speed from toyota of orange in orange california. ever since our test drive we've experienced lack of acceleration (hesitation) from a stop or after slowing down to turn or proceed, shifting problems (constant up and down shifting at certain speeds; car not sure which gear to be in and feels like the car is surging) and unable to use the cruise control due accelerating too quickly due to downshifting and then overshooting the set speed. some of these symptoms are sporadic; you never know if the car is going to move or not when stepping down hard and quickly on the gas pedal. sometimes it "red-lines" before accelerating, other times there is barely any response at all. reported it to the dealer 3 times, had the software updated without noticeable improvements. eg036-07 is the latest ecm update,. we would never have purchased this vehicle if we had only researched the car beforehand on the internet. me and my wife could never get used to the gas pedal because the car responded differently every time. one day my wife came from work and attempted to park the car into a spot on the parking structure, she pressed the gas pedal and the car accelerated really fast driving through the wall almost into the community pool. i have stopped making payments on the car since the car is sitting in the garage and very upset with toyota since i reported the problem to the dealer 3 times and called toyota corp on the phone and received no help. *jb
