Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry hybrid. the contact stated that the sun visor would not remain in an upright position and had detached from the vehicle. the dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in; however, the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who stated that the sun visor was faulty. the manufacturer was not aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the current and failure mileages were approximately 70,000. updated 07/25/11

While driving the drivers side sun visor locking mechanism failed and the sun visor dropped down blocking the drivers view. could not get it to stay up so i had to remove it. *tr

1.) my driver side sun visor came loose and i took it to get it repaired. they put the visor back, but, the lights never worked. few months after it came loose and kept blocking my view, and i kept getting hitting on my head while getting in the car. this week it completely came off (fell) and now i am being burnt in the sun, since there's absolutely no protection. i want my visor to be replaced by toyota, because my care was not that old when it first came loose. 2.) my car does not pickup speed if the ac or heating is on. i have asked the dealer to check and he says there is nothing wrong. sometimes it feels like, i am pumping gas, but, the car is going nowhere. it stalls for few seconds and sometimes, it just feels as if i am losing control, as if the car is running on it's own, w/o me pumping gas, it picks up speed. ps: i am never buying another toyota. *tr

After a short while of noticing a strange clicking sound when placing the driver's side visor into an up, locked position, the visor ceased to lock. when this happened, i could feel the broken piece and it created a "bump" underneath the visor material covering. eventually, it created enough tension on the visor material that the material pulled away from the vanity mirror exposing some of the plastic underneath. the visor will not sit in its upright position or stay forward toward the windshield, but rather hangs directly in the view of the driver. this is very dangerous and significantly impairs the driver's view. another driver entering my car refused to drive because they didn't feel comfortable with the visibility. currently, i have the visor taped to the roof; however, this is simply unacceptable for a 4 year old car (2007 camry). never have i had issue with a sun visor, nor am i "rough" on my car (i drive a lot, but my car is in very good condition inside and outside). i was among the people affected by the oil line leak, having my car break down while driving with my 8-month pregnant sister in the car. (this was prior to the recall.) toyota has become a negligent company and it is the responsibility of the us government and nhtsa (among other groups) to protect the consumers from fraud like this. based on these organizations ratings and evaluations, i bought my 07 camry thinking i was getting a quality, dependable, safe car. instead, i have had issue after issue with no assistance from the same organizations who claimed toyota's superiority; not even toyota wants to back up its work! i sincerely hope the powers that be make this visor issue a recall and toyota is held accountable for the products it sells. i welcome my local dealer and/or toyota to contact me and resolve this issue. *tr

In april 2011, the driver's sun visor on my 2007 toyota camry fell down all by itself. it was taped to the roof of the car since getting into the shop was not an option at that time. a few weeks later, the passenger's sun visor fell down all by itself (it too was taped to the roof of the car). the car was taken to the toyota dealership that we have our mechanic work done at and the service person said that we should call toyota's home office. this safety issue was reported to the toyota home office (case # was assigned) but they seemed unconcerned about the issue. i even mentioned to them that checks on the internet revealed numerous people reporting this same issue. this is a big safety concern as visibility problems exist when these visors fall down. *tr

The driver's side sun visor will not stay up, the driver can become blinded when the visor becomes loose and it cannot be pushed back up to lie flush with the roof. it also cannot be moved to the side.

Using sun visor as normal. one day it just loses it's hold and flops down. will not stay up. we prop it up but it just comes down. seems to pose a threat should there be an accident. *tr

My 2007 toyota camry le's driver side sun visor last week start to droop down and would not stay in the up position causing an obstruction of my driving view. i had to turn the visor to the side but that eventually stopped rotating too. it turns out the metal insert had come out and was no longer providing any traction to the visor. apparently there have been multiple other complaints regarding the same issue with toyota camry's around that year's model. it was definitely a safety issue and i had to remove the visor manually for my own safety and found that the parts inside were damaged. my suspicion is that it was poorly constructed since my 1998 toyota camry has had no sun visor issues after 13 years of wear and tear. luckily i noticed problem and did not start driving immediately. i had to use my left arm to hold the sun visor up for my drive back home. this is an extreme safety issue as this can potentially cause significant visibility issues and lead to accidents and deaths. this problem needs to be fixed and recalled by toyota. thank you for your time. *tr

2007 toyota camry xle with 32,000 miles: driver's side interior sun visor fails to stay in upright position and locking clip snapped inside visor when attempting to secure. the visor has had problems being loose for months and falls down when going over bumps. the clip would occasionally come undone, causing the visor to swing open. when clicking the visor's lock bar into the roof lock, the bar broke off with minor force applied. now visor will not stay in place in any position, causing dangerous visibility issue. auth dealer offered to replace for $185, saying cannot repair. steep price for similar problem encountered by many many other 2007 camry owners. *tr

The visors stopped staying up, they are not working, first the drivers side broke, it just falls down and will not stay up. then about 3 months later the passenger side fell down, i have to use a straight pen to mash them to stay up. this should be a recall by toyota since i read about many other people on the internet who have this same problem. *kb

My 2007 camry sun visor failed within two months apart. it started on april 12, 2011. my driver side went out and then my passenger side. *kb

Driver's side sun visor defective and hangs down in front of face while driving. appears to be a common problem by searching the web. *tt

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving approximately 30 mph, the driver side sun visor suddenly dropped down from its housing obstructing the contacts view of the roadway. the contact stated that the failure would recur continuously. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing but was not repaired. the vin was unavailable. the approximate mileage was 80,000.

The drivers side sun visor no longer stays in the up ourt of the way position. the visor now flops down and does not stay up causing a empairment of your vision. if pushed to the side window it is still down blocking my side vision. this is a very common compaint from many toyota camry owners. *tr

The dashboard of my 2007 toyota camry se has been melting and there is a shine reflection of the dashboard in the windshield creating a visibility problem. i bought this car brand new when it came out at maroon toyota at weston, fl. when i started with the problem i took it to this dealership and the manager said my car was our of warranty and could do nothing. i also took it to headquarters toyota in miami where i have been taking my car for maintenance and i got the same reply. i called toyota usa and the agent said he can't do anything else either because the dashboard of the car has a warranty of only 3 years. this is a manufacturing defect of the car. i never heard of a melting dashboard and my car right now has less than 65k and this started when it was around 50k miles. please, can you help? i am sure i cannot be the only one complaining. thank you *tr

Driver's side sun visor started to fall apart around march 2011, it became safety issue as it failed to stay in stowed position and was only matter of time before it fell off altogether. went to dealer to buy replacement at cost of $121.85. now passenger side visor is doing the same thing and will have to be replaced soon. also rear lap seat belt is unserviceable due to locked-in retracted position. *tr

The driver's side sun visor on my 2007 toyota camry will not stay in place. the inside grips of the sun visor have broken apart or warped and now the visor continues to drop down in front of the windshield blocking full view of the road which could cause a hazard. i accidentally ran a red stop light because the visor dropped down in front of me. there is nothing that will hold the visor in place unless i physically hold it up with my hand until i reach my destination. at first, the sun visor would squeak when opening or closing until one day it just would not close back. *tr

I was driving don't remember the date but early part of this year the visor on the driver just drop almost hit the car in front of me. it started like getting hard to snap back in place at first but just drop. the visor on passenger side did the same thing bout two week later took it todealer he told me it was nothing they could do wasn't a recall so i had to pay for it. needless to say i have no job and no visor. this car was new when i bought it in the last of 2009,with 307 miles. and it nothing can be done i see all these other people with the same problems on this gov.site and nothing been done yet i guess someone got to get hurt or kill first. why hasn't it been a recall to correct this problem. *tr

This has been and ongoing problem for the past two years, but in january the sun visor onthe passenger side completely fell down and blocks my view. i can not get the visor to return to the up position. i have tried to find out how to fix it, but to no avail short of purchasing a new visor and having it installed. i have owned toyotas since 1981 and have never had this problem with any of the other vehicles no matter how old. this one mysteriously failed completely around 55k miles. *tr

The driver side sun visor in the 2007 toyota camry begin with a clicking noise when changing the position of the visor from up to down. now the visor is losing the ability to stay in the up position. this defect causes a major blockage in the ability to see the roadway ahead. at this point in time nothing has been done to repair the issue. hoping that toyota will issue a recall and correct the issue. *tr

Sun visor became loose and will not stay in the upright position. first visor to fail was passenger side, which did pose a visibility issue, but not too severe. tried to duct tape it in upright position, but it will not hold. then, just yesterday, the driver's side failed, which definitely causes a visibility issue when the visor won't stay up, or drops down in your face, or hits you in the head on it's way down, only to hang in your view while driving, and not effectively block the sun when you need it to. a friend that owns a 2010 camry also has had the same issue. *tr

I have a 2007 toyota camry le purchased in 2007 and the sunvisor broke while i was driving which almost caused me to get into an accident. it wont stay up and just flops back and forth. i called toyota and they said it would cost 180 to get it fixed. i have done some research and noticed other toyota owners were having the same issue. this is still a new car and should not be having this issue. i also have a 92 honda accord and the visor is still in place. this is ridiculous. *tr

The driver side sunvisor is defective in my 2007 toyota camry. i was driving one day and the visor suddenly fell from its up-and-locked position. the first time it fell, i pushed the visor back up into its up position and it managed to stay lock, albeit not as sturdy. subsequently, the inability of the sunvisor to stay up intensified to the point where the thing would not stay up at all. i currently have the sunvisor tied up so it does not obstruct my view while driving. i am currently looking for a replacement for the visor. however, toyota considers the sunvisor to be a "trim" item and will not replace the visor, even though i am covered under their platinum extended warranty. *tr

I purchased a 2007 toyota camry from leith toyota in raleigh nc, december of 2006. last week my driver side sun visor fell while driving and almost caused me to wreck. within a few days the passenger side visor popped out of place and now it will not stay up. i talked with the dealership where i purchased the vehicle and they say that it will cost $200.00 or more to replace both. i went on the internet and to my surprise i found that many more toyota customers are having this same issue. the visor clips are clearly defective part(s) in these visors. even the technician admitted that they have had to repair hundreds of these. i would like to think that i can count on toyota to fix this problem for me at no charge, but i am getting no where with the dealership. i have been a loyal toyota customer for the past 20 or more years. this is dangerous and could cause a serious accident or even death. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving approximately 30 mph, the dashboard was melting and the surface became very sticky and shiny. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000. updated 11/20/14*cn the consumer stated the surface below the windshield became shiny and reflected the sunlight impairing visibility. updated 5/5/2015 *js

Driver's sunvisor suddenly and without warning fell down hindering my vision while i was driving. i had to push it up immediately to avoid crashing into a car in front of me. i was unable to keep the visor up and had to drive home holding it with one of my hands. i removed the visor for safety and have not replaced it yet. i have researched this issue and have determined there are numerous complaints with the visor coming down and not being able to go back up and stay in place. *tr

Passenger sun visor does not stay up. it droops and obscure visibility. i have to either fold it to left window side or hold it while driving. *tr

I own a 2007 toyota camry that a month ago had two visors fell down all of a sudden the springs that hold them snapped off the same day. i was driving when the driver side visor fell down and is being held up by tape. i went in to toyota and they said sorry it is out of warranty you have to pay $240.00 for two visors. i am furious as i have been reading to many complaints that this should be considered a safety recall as it obstructs the view of the driver. no one is recalling these as a road hazard. it can cause a serious accident or death if fallen while driving and obstructs view like it did me. i had to hold it up with my fingers while driving. this is a class action law suit waiting to happen. if it were maybe 2-6 i can see doing it yourself but hundreds of complaints i see on line and filed my question is why have you waited so long to find toyota at fault for faulty parts? how is it that hundreds of these for the 2007 have broke around the same time frame all out of warranty but enough to cause great concern.... this tells me that this is a manufactures defect and should be recalled and fixed at toyotas expense. i am outraged that you have not made this a recall for those who have filed. we trust in you to protect us why have you not done this for us? *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the sunroof suddenly fell off of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told that he would be responsible for repair costs. the vehicle had not been repaired. the contact called the manufacturer who advised him to visit the dealer. the current mileage was approximately 82,000. the failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Sun visor on driver's side will not stay in the up position. it hangs down about 1-2 inches from it's original "up" position. after reading on line about toyota not doing anything to correct the situation with other people, i did not take it to my dealer thinking i would be told it was my car and my problem (not necessarily in those terms). *tr
