My 2007 toyota solara coupe l4-2.4l (2az-fe) has the engine oil consumption problem. this was confirmed by my service center and is in regard to the technical service bulletin t-sb-0094-11. the engine loses oil at rapid rate and gasoline gets in the oil, which could cause a fire. this is a serious engine problem which should be a recall. because toyota lists this problem only as a technical service bulletin, they say they are not required to contact the vehicle owner to make them aware of this problem. the repairs needed require major engine/piston work costing $5,000. they will not pay for this if the vehicle has over 60,000 miles. because i cannot afford $5,000, and i need the car to get to work, i am stuck with a useless and dangerous vehicle where the engine will seize up and die. who knows what tragedy this will cause if i am in the vehicle at the time.

I have a 2007 toyota solara with a v-6 engine. at 79000 miles the water pump failed catastrophically and took out the timing belt, which caused the car to quit in the middle of traffic. *tr

Toyota solara 2007 - in 2008 i brought in my solara in three times reporting to the dealer that the motor intermittently and will suddenly rev-up on its own when cruising with the engine feathered. it happens typically between 20 and 40 mph it does not go to full throttle but it is enough that it will catch me by surprise the brakes easily stop it. the dealer said there was nothing wrong (services records are at the toyota dealer here in lakeland fl). i tried turning off the ac thinking it was revering up from the compressor cycling on and off but made no difference. i have noticed however that if i'm playing an xm radio station with heavy base music it seems to happen more often - hope this helps you folks with your investigation. *jb
