Problems with 2016 Tesla Model X SUSPENSION

On average, the 2016 Tesla Model X starts to “feel” problems with the SUSPENSION and its various aspects after 12 812 miles.

Recently reported SUSPENSION problems on 2016 Tesla Model X

Here is a model x in the salvage yard. https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=24242595&rownumber=57&loadrecent=true it has been involved in a major collision. i have no knowledge about the circumstances of the crash but it may be significant that the back wheels are both jammed up in the wheel wells and that the back rh wheel appears to be skewed sideways. there is no impact damage to the back of the car that would account for the wheels being offset in this way. please investigate this crash to see whether suspension failure was the cause. note that i am not the owner and my only knowledge of this incident comes from examination of the photographs posted on this salvage auction site.

Here is a near new model x in the junkyard. https://www.copart.com/lot/43745346/photos the entire back suspension has been ripped off and this is the result of bad design and construction and not an accident. i am astounded that the owner did not file a complaint. you have more than enough evidence to conclude that tesla suspensions are dangerous. the traction control on teslas works by applying the brakes on the wheel that is losing grip on the road surface. under hard acceleration enormous torque can be applied to the suspension. it is clearly not strong enough for the job. please issue a recall. (date of incident is an approximation)

Here is a model x in the junkyard.the suspension has collapsed on all four wheels. the front lh wheel is gouged almost in half from the inside. the damage to the wheel is almost certainly caused by a broken suspension arm in the same way that many other tesla suspensions have failed. please investigate the circumstances of this incident to find out if mechanical failure was the cause.

Here is a tesla model x in the junkyard. https://m.iaai.com/vehicledetenc.aspx?auctionid=0&itemid=23554172&rowid=47&pagesource=vehicleresults it has not been involved in any collision and none of the airbags have deployed. the air suspension has collapsed on all 4 wheels causing them to jam up in the wheel wells. the teslas do not have any bump stops and such failures always cause damage to the car and can cause loss of control and endanger other road users. how much longer will you ignore theses failures and continue to give tesla the benefit of the doubt? i will ensure that details of this incident are made public. please take this deadly car of the road. it is simply "unsafe at any speed" thank you.

Here is a model x in the salvage yard. https://www.copart.com/lot/35873206/photos?resultindex=2&totalrecords=14&backto=%2flotsearchresults%2f%3ffree%3dtrue&query=tesla&query=tesla&displaystr=search%20results&viewedlot=35873206 it has only done 3000 miles. the back wheel has skewed 90 degrees sideways and all the suspension arms have snapped off. none of the air-bags have deployed. there is some scraping damage to the side of the car but not enough to account for the snapped off suspension. it is most likely that the scrapes on the side were caused after the driver lost control when the wheel went whompy. it is blindingly obvious that the alloy suspension components are too weak for the high power and weight of this vehicle. please do not wait until more lives are lost before taking action.

Here is further proof that there is a design and/or materials problem with tesla's suspensions. this was posted today on the official tesla motors forum. https://forums.tesla.com/forum/forums/model-x-front-suspension-failure condensed version of post: yesterday, i was parking my model x90d in the parking garage at work, i was making a sharp turn as i was backing into a parking spot (in manual mode, not autopark), when i heard a bang and my steering became stiff. when i tried moving the car, it felt like it wouldn't want to move. when i moved forward, the car front part felt like it was lifted up an inch or so. i stopped, got out, got onto my knees and crawled under the front suspension to see what was going on. it was obvious to me that there was a front suspension failure. the wheel appeared to contact the wheel well. i refrained from making any further movement as the wheel well was acting as a giant brake on the tire. this morning, got a call from the service center, they confirmed that the driver side control arm had cracked and was broken. . as a precaution they are replacing the control arm on the passenger side too.. i am surprised that the control arm cracked as the fatigue cycles on the part would have been low. i think when one is making an extreme turn, the control arm will be most stressed and it appears the stress analysis done may not have fully captured the loads during the extreme turn. i was driving at less than 5 mph while reverse parking when it failed. i shudder to think what could have happened if this failure occurred as i was on an expressway at speed, taking a turn/on a curved exit ramp, possibly made worse if i was on autopilot. please do not give tesla any more benefit of the doubt but instead take immediate action to prevent loss of life.

Here is a model s in the junkyard https://m.iaai.com/vehicledetenc.aspx?auctionid=0&itemid=23232693&rowid=41&pagesource=vehicleresults it has been in a collision. the suspension appears to have collapsed. the lh front wheel is jammed back in the wheel well the tread on the tire of the lh front wheel has been worn away which is almost certain to have happened before any crash. there have been many other cases of collapsed suspensions in teslas. it is reported that the cars lack any form of limit stops on the suspension so that a simple air leak in the system can have catastrophic consequences. please investigate.

Here is a tesla model x in the salvage yard. it has been in a major crash the front lh suspension top link is torn away which could have happened in the crash. however, the tire has had the tread severely worn away over the entire circumference. this could not have happened after the impact unless full power was still applied to the motor post impact. it is far more probable that the tire damage was caused prior to the crash by a mechanical fault in the suspension. several other model x cars have been reported with broken suspensions. please investigate this matter urgently. please note that the date of crash, details of injury are only estimates.

I am not owner but am filing on behalf of chinese owner who had accident in montana at 2am 7/09/2016. driver not sure what caused car to veer to the right off the road but front right wheel is off. speed was 56 to 60 mph montana state police responded. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/my-friend-model-x-crash-bad-on-ap-yesterday.73308/ i'm sharing this information because the response from fellow tesla owners can be borderline hostile when unexplained incidents occur and may suppress reporting as you can see by viewing the above thread.

Here is a model x in the junkyard. http://www.copart.com/us/en/lot/27679726?searchid=1165323215 the suspension seems to have collapsed. the front rh wheel is jammed back into the firewall and the tread is worn which is consistent with the tire being damaged by broken suspension parts while the car was still rolling forward. here is another model x in a different junkyard https://m.iaai.com/vehicledetenc.aspx?auctionid=0&itemid=22497170&rowid=31&pagesource=vehicleresults same thing. suspension collapsed, wheel jammed back into the firewall, tire gouged while still in motion. i believe that the alloy suspension parts are too weak for such a heavy high powered vehicle and that there are so many similar failures it can not be just that the damage is caused by the collision.

Here are two model x cars at a repair shop. see attached photograph. they both have front suspension damage. the black car in the foreground has the front wheel sliced in half. this can only be the result of a broken suspension component. elon musk has tweeted that the nhtsa has cleared tesla of any problems he has also branded my complaints as fraudulent. this is about as serious as it can get. please investigate this.

Here is a model x in the salvage yard. it is almost brand new but the front suspension has fallen apart. https://m.iaai.com/vehicledetenc.aspx?auctionid=0&itemid=22034238&rowid=36&pagesource=vehicleresults# the close up photograph reveals a lower suspension ball joint that has fallen apart. there is no collision damage that could account for this. please investigate this matter urgently. you have over 20 reports filed for model s suspension failures and now with a mere handful of the model x on the road the same failure has happened again. this car is unsafe at any speed.

Another case of suspension failure identical to previous complaints lodged. tesla motors club forum https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/model-x-front-suspension-failure.77534/page-4 sreddy642 said: ↑ i posted this article originally and uploaded these pictures of my car when it failed in our parking lot where my car is the only tesla. i do have the tesla invoice with $0.0 charged that clearly acknowledges this failure and shows which parts were replaced. i think the same thing happened to our early production model x. this arm was on the driver's side toward the front of the car. tesla fixed it for free too. see attached photographs. also note how the original poster on this thread has been called a liar and worse. many owners would be afraid to report these failures due to peer pressure and fear that tesla might withdraw their support.

Refiling this complaint as it did not seem to go through properly 5 minutes ago. here is a report of another broken suspension with photographs that show an identical failure to the last model x complaint filed. detailed photos show stretched and fractured parts. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/model-x-front-suspension-failure.77534/page-4 reeler, yesterday at 7:07 pm new sreddy642 said: ↑ i posted this article originally and uploaded these pictures of my car when it failed in our parking lot where my car is the only tesla. i do have the tesla invoice with $0.0 charged that clearly acknowledges this failure and shows which parts were replaced. i think the same thing happened to our early production model x. this arm was on the driver's side toward the front of the car. tesla fixed it for free too.
