Here is another tesla in the junkyard: https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=25868188&rownumber=47&loadrecent=true the front suspension has collapsed and the wheel has gone all whompy. the headlamp just forward of the wheel has not been broken. no air-bags have been deployed. please investigate. these tesla wheels are snapping off at an alarming rate. thank you. concerned citizen.
Here is yet another instance of a tesla suspension failure. please investigate this major defect. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/serious-problem-with-my-2016-model-s.95065/ i have owned my 2016 model s for just over one year (25k miles) and have been a huge fan of tesla. i like reading the forums and have been a very happy owner. however, i was driving home with my wife from church this morning and the car had a potentially life threatening failure. i began noticing a "thud" type sound on normal road bumps on my drive home, and when i slowed turning into my development and pressed on the brakes to slow down the car, it began making a shrill sound and the car began jumping up and down. i pulled over and noticed that it looks like something completely fell off the front driver's side axel or turning apparatus (i'm not very knowledgeable about car parts!) has anyone else experienced this? i am hoping this is an anomaly as i really love my tesla, but if this would have happened on the highway or on autopilot i can't imagine things ending well for me and my family. i am very happy to be safe at home. i will reach out to service monday am to get this fixed. i am attaching a picture of what i saw in the front passenger side wheel where something seems to have completely come off the cars suspension.
I have filed many reports about tesla suspension failures but since i am not an actual owner perhaps you are not taking these complaints seriously. here is a discussion thread in which an actual owner reports this problem: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/front-upper-ball-joints.93694/ **snip: scottm, sunday at 5:10 pm it's ball joint time, starting to feel some movement... mechanic estimates 10 - 20 mil movement of upper ball joint. i have been feeling increased "wander" or "rut following" behavior on the highways... car has 100,000 km on it. are there any improved (stronger / heavy duty) or aftermarket suspension parts for our s's yet? my mechanic noticed the front upper ball joints are riveted onto the upper control arm.. and theorized it might be possible to drill them off and replace with some other ball joint. like maybe something for a 3/4 ton truck ? anybody gotten adventurous with suspension mods yet... i'm off warranty so what the heck. not afraid to do stuff in a machine shop.** and this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgdkzmlzqog please take action immediately. thank you. concerned citizen.
Here is another tesla in the junkyard: https://www.salvagereseller.com/cars-for-sale/33536617-2016-tesla-model-s-austell-ga it does not appear to have been involved in a collision. no air-bags have deployed. the back lh wheel and complete suspension has been ripped off and appears to have exited outwards pushing out the bodywork. this is a similar failure to many other teslas that have shed wheels for no good reason. the fact that many drivers are using autopilot hands free makes this situation even more dangerous. please investigate,
Here is a report of a tesla crash in germany: http://www.nachrichten.at/oberoesterreich/tesla-krachte-in-linzer-fruehverkehr-gegen-strassenlaterne;art4,2601196 and a youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0e5ob5x9ak the driver reports that the steering suddenly locked up. the video shows that the lh front wheel is pushed up and back in the wheel well and that the suspension has collapsed. this side of the car did not hit the pole and is undamaged apart from the collapsed suspension. there have been dozens of similar incidents in which the tesla suspension has collapsed. there are no bump stops on the tesla suspension and a simple air leak can cause a disaster. this incident could easily have caused a fatality. please investigate this incident. thank you. i am not a tesla owner just a concerned citizen.
There was a fatal crash in hawaii on june12th this year. http://khon2.com/2017/06/12/waimanalo-man-killed-in-crash-on-pali-hwy/ the tesla driver claims that he was hit from behind by a speeding suv which then lost control and overturned killing the driver of that vehicle. photographs at the crash site show the tesla having lost the lh back wheel. the tesla has now shown up in the salvage yard: https://www.copart.com/lot/32722527/photos the car is undamaged apart from having lost a wheel. it was not hit from behind. it is absolutely clear that the tesla lost a wheel without any impact damage and that the suv was forced to swerve to avoid the tesla making that driver lose control and roll over causing his death. please recall these cars before more innocent lives are lost. i am filing these reports in the public interest. a dummy usa address has been used to satisfy your website requirements. my genuine contact details are supplied with this submission.
Here is a report of a crash that has just occurred in hawaii. http://khon2.com/2017/06/12/waimanalo-man-killed-in-crash-on-pali-hwy/ the owner of the tesla reports that he felt a bump and then saw a speeding car fly past him and crash into a guard rail. the driver of that car was killed. the back wheel of the tesla has completely fallen off and yet there appears to be no collision damage that would have cause the wheel to come off. crash investigators need to be told of the multiple instances of tesla wheels and suspensions falling off for no good reason. please investigate the circumstances of this crash. i believe it is highly probable that this fatal crash was caused by yet another case of tesla suspension failure. please do not miss this opportunity to properly investigate this crash.
Here is another tesla in the junkyard. the front suspension has collapsed on both sides. it does not appear that the car has been involved in a collision with another vehicle. the damage looks to be entirely self inflicted due to the suspension failure. it is obvious that tesla has a culture that refuses to recognise these repeated suspension failures and by their use of non disclosure agreements discourages owners from reporting to the authorities. i believe it is long overdue for nhtsa to investigate these matters. thank you. concerned citizen. date of incident is an approximation.
Here is a tesla in the junkyard: https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=25357151&rownumber=7&loadrecent=true it does not appear to have been in a collision, no air-bags have deployed. the front rh steering knuckle has snapped in half. the suspension has collapsed. many owners are reporting problems with shuddering :https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/6jrdhe/model_sx_rattling_from_front_drive_shaft/?st=j4gmlbjk&sh=2d210fe0 tesla seems to have a culture of denying that there are any faults in these cars and are still using non disclosure agreements that have the effect of discouraging owners from complaining to the authorities. please investigate.
Here is a burned out tesla in the junkyard https://www.salvagereseller.com/cars-for-sale/27627757-2016-tesla-model-s-san-diego-ca the car has bio-hazard stickers which indicates that the occupants were probably injured. the pictures show that the front lh upper ball joint has separated and that the wheel has been sliced in half. the drivers air-bag has not deployed so it is unlikely that the suspension damage was caused by a front end collision. there are a great many cases of teslas having suspensions collapse. there are a great many teslas that have caught fire. please investigate the cause of this accident. please note that i am not the owner but simply a concerned citizen. the date of the crash and the extent of injuries is an educated guess.
Here is a tesla in the junkyard: https://www.salvagereseller.com/cars-for-sale/25125417-2016-tesla-model-s-san-diego-ca the suspension has collapsed and the front wheel has flipped 180 degrees. the top and bottom ball joints have snapped off completely. this is not the result of a collision it is simply mechanical failure. please take action immediately to prevent further deaths and injury. concerned citizen.
Here is a replacement suspension arm for sale on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252541386417 the ball joint has snapped in half. owners on the forums are complaining of the high cost of suspension repairs and suggesting owners source parts on ebay for diy repairs. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/holy-crap-repairs-are-insanely-expensive-beware.86514/ snip: the bolt securing the steering tie to the wheel chassis is broken. knowing i'm getting fleeced,i call tesla, the replacement part runs about $375. the body shows me a service bulletin put out by tesla. it says in the event any damage to any steering or suspsenion component is encountered, one must replace xxx. this involves basically a new front end. dropping the batteries, new ac compressor, new engine radiator, new beanies, a ton of work for fixing impact to one wheel at less than 5 mph. yaro, feb 22, 2017 rofl. this is such [xxx]. no way you need to replace any of those things. we just repaired a salvage model s that had front end damage. replaced all the front end body parts and all the other functions work just fine. also replaced that same control arm that you ripped out because it was slightly bent. passed alignment with no issues and everything on the car works fine. i 100% guarantee that body shop is reselling all the parts they pulled off. flatsix911, feb 26, 2017 last edited: feb 26, 2017 just did a quick search on ebay and found the front control arm for the model s readily available for $250. a good automotive tech could replace this part and check the suspension specs with a few hours labor. 2012-2015 tesla model s left front control arm 1048951-00-b | ebay please investigate these dangerously weak tesla suspensions. thank you. very concerned citizen. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
This is a complaint intended to provide further evidence that teslas are experiencing suspension failures and are catching fire at a much higher rate than most other vehicles. i have attached photographs from the current stock of wrecked teslas at a junkyard in the netherlands so as to further prove the argument that these cars have a major safety problem. here is a link to the stock of tesla wrecks in just that one junkyard: https://www.proxyparts.com/vehicle-stock/ select tesla from the menu. there are currently over 100 wrecked teslas in american junkyards and probably as many again in overseas junkyards. recent insurance assessments show that teslas are crashing at double the normal rate for comparable cars. http://www.iihs.org/iihs/topics/insurance-loss-information select large luxury cars from the drop-down menu. please investigate the reasons for all of these crashes. thank you.
Here is a tesla in the junkyard: https://www.salvagereseller.com/cars-for-sale/36709406-2016-tesla-model-s-van-nuys-ca the front rh suspension links have snapped and the wheel has skewed sideways at 90 degrees. there is no impact damage forward of the wheel that would account for the wheel getting impacted. the only damage appears to be self inflicted. please investigate the reason for so many similar failures happening with these teslas. thank you. concerned citizen.
Here is a discussion thread in which an owner complains his suspension broke after a very minor collision. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/holy-crap-repairs-are-insanely-expensive-beware.86514/ the photograph on the thread is attached to this complaint. the steel bolt on the ball joint has snapped off completely. this minor collision did not even damage the wheel but the bolt snapped off. the thread goes on to discuss the many other similar failures and because of the huge cost to repair the owner is encouraged to keep the old parts and sell them on ebay. this thread shows that these suspension failures are happening to teslas at a ridiculous rate. please investigate this urgently and demand a recall for inspections at the very minimum.
This is a complaint intended to draw your attention to the issue of weaknesses in the tesla suspension components i have attached photographs supplied by an owner and posted on the tmc forum: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/holy-crap-repairs-are-insanely-expensive-beware.86514/page-7 utah tesla club joined:jan 2, 2016 messages:321 location:united states #133cman8, today at 8:07 am i call bs. i had one of my wishbones break (i didnt hit anything though) and they fixed it no problem. everything was fine except it looked like they had cast a bad part which eventually failed. i was lucky enough to notice it coming out of my driveway and not on the freeway, but regardless they took care of it. this is what mine looked like when i looked underneath to inspect. please look at the photographs. this car is an accident waiting to happen.
Here is another model s in the salvage yard. https://www.salvagereseller.com/cars-for-sale/24729347-2016-tesla-model-s-courtice-on the suspension has collapsed on all 4 wheels. the front rh wheel is jammed back against the rear of the well and is rubbing against the hv electrical cables. there is no damage forward of the wheel that would explain why the wheel has been forced backward. this is almost certainly another case of mechanical failure in the tesla suspension. i have compiled a collection of more than 100 similar failures : http://teslabears.club/t/new-thread-keefs-complaints-with-photographs elon musk has alleged that my complaints are fraudulent. i deny this and invite you to view my fully detailed complaints and see if you can find anything that is in any way falsified. (please note that dates of incidents and other minor details are approximations ) photograph of whompy wheel is attached.
Here is a model s freshly arrived in the junkyard. https://www.copart.com/lot/23451977/photos the suspension has collapsed and the wheels have gone badly whompy. see attached photographs. if the tesla can be recalled for just one possible loose bolt on a seat-belt then why have they not issued a recall or even a warning to owners? please investigate.
Here is another tesla in the salvage yard. https://www.copart.com/lot/18901597/photos it has not been in a crash. air-bags have not been deployed. the only thing wrong with this car is that the back wheel has gone all whompy. it is only by good fortune that this did not result in a crash causing death and injury. this is a heavy high performance car and the suspension components are too weak for the job. please investigate and issue an immediate recall to prevent further crashes. not an owner, just a concerned citizen.
Here is a tesla in the salvage yard. https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=24209294&rownumber=11&loadrecent=true it has not been in a crash. the airbags have not deployed. the front suspension has collapsed and the front wheels are both skewed inwards towards each other. these tesla suspensions are failing repeatedly and tesla is making it near impossible to have the cars repairew and put back on the road. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/holy-crap-repairs-are-insanely-expensive-beware.86514/ it is likely that tesla do not wish to have the cars put back on the road in case the same component snaps again. photographs attached to this complaint show that bolts snapping is a regular occurrence on teslas. witness marks on suspension bolts show that technicians are constantly re-tightening bolts. it is hardly surprising that the bolts (welded together in the ball joint stem) ultimately snap off. note: i am not the owner, the only information i have about this incident is that shown on the salvage auction website. dates are an approximation. my contact information is included with this submission.
Here is a tesla in the salvage yard. https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=24188268&rownumber=9&loadrecent=true it has had a slight bump up the rear, most likely caused by the tesla stopping without any warning due to the suspension collapsing. the front wheels are jammed up into the wheel wells. the car is listed as having suspension damage and having a repair cost estimate of $43k. the car has done just 49 miles from new. please investigate the causes of the suspension failures in the tesla which are happening ridiculously often. note: i am not the owner. i am reporting using publicly available information and i am doing this as a concerned citizen who has to share the roads with these vehicles. it seems that they are unsafe at any speed.
Here is a tesla in the junkyard https://www.copart.com/lot/19177347/photos the suspension has collapsed on all four wheels. the front lh wheel has been sliced completely in half which indicates it was gouged by a broken suspension part whilst still rotating. the hood of the car is almost undamaged which shows that all of the damage could not have been caused by a heavy impact. even the back wheels are gouged and damaged by the suspension collapse. the number of teslas with broken suspensions showing up in salvage yards is enormous especially considering how few of them are on the roads. please investigate this problem.
Here is a tesla in the junkyard. it is in immaculate condition except for the fact that the back lh wheel has gone whompy. the wheel and tire are undamaged and it seems impossible that the car could have had an impact that would break the suspension without even breaking a spoke of the wheel. there have been more than 100 similar failures and some of them have caused serious crashes. please act immediately to recall these dangerous vehicles. date of incident is an approximation. i am not the owner simply a concerned citizen.
Here is a tesla in the salvage yard. https://www.salvagereseller.com/cars-for-sale/20297057-2016-tesla-model-s-mo-bridgeton it has an mo salvage certificate there is no damage to the bodywork and no airbags have been deployed. once again the suspension appears to have collapsed forcing the wheels up into the wells. it is beyond ridiculous that such a new and expensive car can not be repaired to a sage condition but is instead being written off by the insurer. please investigate this problem
Here is a model s in the junkyard. https://m.iaai.com/vehicledetenc.aspx?auctionid=0&itemid=24209294&rowid=12&pagesource=vehicleresults# the front suspension has collapsed causing both wheels to jam up into the wheel arches. this is a near new car and yet it is being sold as an insurance write-off because it is either uneconomic or unsafe to be repaired. this failure has occurred at low speed and the air-bags have not deployed. if that had happened at highway speeds it would have caused a major crash. this car does not have bump stops on the air suspension so that a simple air leak can cause disaster. this situation has been going on for far too long. please take action to prevent loss of life. note that i am not the owner, just a concerned citizen. date of incident is an approximation.
Here is a tesla in the junkyard. https://m.iaai.com/vehicledetenc.aspx?auctionid=22647195&itemid=24284013&rowid=9&pagesource=vehicleresults# the only damage appears to be that the front suspension has collapsed on both sides and yet it has been declared an insurance write off. this kind of failure is happening at a ridiculous rate on these cars and yet few owners have filed complaints. this may be due to the fact that most tesla owners are also shareholders. this is not the case with other brands of cars. please investigate this problem.
Here is another tesla in the salvage yard. https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=24284013&rownumber=9&loadrecent=true it is listed as having undercarriage damage. the photographs show the car is in pristine condition except that the suspension has collapsed. the rear wheels are displaced towards the rear of the car. the fact that this car is being written off instead of repaired suggests that the undercarriage can not be repaired to a safe condition at a reasonable cost or possibly that tesla does not want to take the risk of the suspension failing again later. forum posters have complained that after experiencing minor accidents that cause suspension damage their cars are still awaiting repair months later and can not get any word from tesla as to when their cars will be returned to them. please investigate. *tr
Left wheel fell off from what appears to be a broken bolt controlling lower control arm. the car was backing into a driveway at low speeds with a sudden thud. the left front was resting on the tire with the tire turned at 90 degrees. the lower control arm was no longer attached with the bolt broken. see pictures.
This is another complaint about the tesla suspension weakness. here are 3 more examples of back wheels that have skewed over without having been in any collision. there is a discussion thread on the norwegian forum elbilforum.no google - skrevet av emne: brukket bakaksel quote: today broke the rear axle! pour into the incident that it happened on the highway to the airport but just down the street when i was on my way home. jade me back. but - broken axle, then? and although p85 + is a rocket i'm actually a moderate middle-aged-plus driver who has covered akselrasjinsbehov. wonder if there are others who have experienced broken axle speed? have tried to find something on the theme of the forum but did not follow up something. is there an exhausted topic so sorry i post.. i have attached 4 photos of cars with broken axles that were posted on the norwegian forum. this is a highly dangerous situation but no warning has been issued to owners and the forum posters are abusing any owners that dare to post complaints. please take immediate action. *tr
Here is a press report of a tesla crash in the netherlands. https://translate.google.com.au/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=utf-8&u=http%3a%2f%2fwww.regio15.nl%2fnieuws%2flijst-weergave%2f32-ongevallen%2f25574-twee-gewonden-bij-ongeval-op-de-zuidweg&edit-text=&act=url the photographs show that the tread on the rear tire has been completely worn away before the suspension snapped off. the wheel is gouged in half. people were injured in the crash which was undoubtedly caused by this suspension failure. please look at the photograph and demand a recall of this dangerous vehicle.
Here is another tesla in the junkyard. https://www.copart.com/lot/33597246/photos?resultindex=10&totalrecords=23&backto=%2flotsearchresults%2f%3ffree%3dtrue&query=tesla&query=tesla&displaystr=search%20results&viewedlot=33597246 photographs show that the front supension has fallen apart and the wheel and tire have been destroyed whilst the car was still in motion. there is no collision damage that would explain the failure. there have been over 100 similar failures. no other car on the road has such a high rate of suspension failures and wheels torn off. owners have reported suspension failures even under gentle driving conditions. in an emergency situation when the owner brakes and swerves the suspension is extremely likely to snap off. the suspension compnents are too weak and have not been tested under conditions similar to what can occur on the highway or at an interesection when emergency braking is applied. please investigate this.
Here is a tesla model s just a few months old and already in the salvage yard. https://m.iaai.com/vehicledetenc.aspx?auctionid=0&itemid=23505090&rowid=4&pagesource=vehicleresults there is no crash damage, no airbags have been deployed. the entire rear suspension of the car has simply snapped off. the suspension components are much too fragile for a car of this weight and power. it is beyond ridiculous that after more than 100 cars have had suspension failures there has not been a recall. please order a recall immediately. thank you. *tr
Here is a report of a tesla crash in china that injured 2 people. https://translate.google.com.au/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=utf-8&u=http%3a%2f%2fhk.apple.nextmedia.com%2fnews%2fart%2f20160621%2f19662689&edit-text=&act=url the car suffered unintended acceleration and then the wheels fell off. that is a bit of a worry, to say the very least. please issue a recall.
Here is a tesla in the junkyard. https://www.copart.com/lot/35774366/photos?resultindex=8&totalrecords=20&backto=%2flotsearchresults%2f%3ffree%3dtrue&query=tesla&query=tesla&displaystr=search%20results&viewedlot=35774366 it has been in a serious crash. the car shows the signs of collapsed suspension that has caused all wheels to be jammed up in the wheel wells. the front rh wheel assembly has snapped off completely and the wheel/tire damage suggest that the collapse occured whilst the car was still driving forward prior to impact. please investigate this and also the many similar incidents. please note that i am not the owner just a concerned citizen. date is an approximation. injuries reported are an estimation based on the severity of the crash. *tr
Here is another case of a tesla with a broken suspension. this information is taken from a tesla owners forum: https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/63dtws/tesla_model_x_suspension_quality_issue_passenger/?sort=new timothym96 2 points 1 day ago this has also exactly happened to me in my p90d last december. i did hit a pothole on the curve going into the parking garage at about 10mph. once i got in the garage, i turned the wheel to make a backin into a spot and bam. wheel fell right off. pictures: first second. tesla would not repair it, and body shop in ohio (suburban collision, terrible job they did by the way) "repaired" it for $15,000. i wasn't happy. the owner has posted photographs of the failed parts and i have attached those photographs below. please investigate. thank you. concerned citizen.
Here is a report of a crash in germany. http://bnn.de/lokales/bruchsal/tesla-schlaegt-in-sperrwand-ein the front tire is peeled off the rim. that could only have happened before the collision and is almost certainly caused by failure of the suspension. it would be almost impossible for the wheel to have turned a full revolution and peeled off the tire after the collision. the driver was seriously injured. please take immediate action.
Update to the indianapolis crash that killed two people. this report claims that both occupants were intoxicated. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/tesla-driver-double-fatal-crash-intoxicated-indianapolis-police/ however, this other report suggests that tests on badly burned victims may be unreliable. http://killingkillers.blogspot.com.au/p/blood-alcohol-content-ffect.html not withstanding these reports the photographs published here http://www.indystar.com/story/news/crime/2017/02/08/tesla-model-s-crash-investigation-drunken-driving-indianapolis/97597708/ show that the tesla has completely disintegrated and that all of the wheels have snapped off with some of the wheels showing signs of damage whilst rotating. bearing in mind the many reports of failed tesla suspensions and problems with speed control it is possible that mechanical failure paid a contributing part. the almost complete disintegration of the car is in stark contrast to the claims made by tesla that it is the safest car in the world. please do not allow the fact that the occupants might have been impaired by alcohol preclude an investigation into possible defects in the tesla that may have played a part in this crash.
There has been a fatal tesla crash in indiana. crash site photographs show that the rear wheel has skewed over in the wheel well but there is no damage to the rear of the car which could have cause that to happen. the car was repaired by tesla a few months ago after it suffered undercarriage damage after hitting a pothole there is a clear pattern of weakness in the suspension components. it is highly probable that this crash was caused by a suspension failure. crash scene videos show the batteries exploding like fireworks. contrary to tesla's claim that the batteries are well protected and will allow plenty of time for the occupants to escape it shows that when the batteries are hot from heavy use they will ignite as soon as the coolant escapes. please investigate this matter urgently before more lives are lost.
Here is a tesla in the salvage yard. https://m.iaai.com/vehicledetenc.aspx?auctionid=0&itemid=23502765&rowid=1&pagesource=vehicleresults# car built may 2016 close examination of the front rh wheel shows that the inside of the wheel has been torn and that the tread of the tire has been worn down in the center. this means that the damage was caused while the wheel was still rotating and was probably caused by a broken suspension component. owners on the forums have been complaining of problems with suspension parts and that tesla has replaced parts for some (but not all) owners. sample:from elbilorum.no - on my p85 + from april 2014 i hear the typical sounds of a liner that has gone in front axle. more speifikt from the stabilizer bar or one of the connections, i have not been subject to set. is there anyone else who has experience with linings that runs on its tesla. recalling that i + package with stiffer bushings that were available at that time. - got switched on both sides ahead of a month ago, "link-sway bar front pair" was substituted. had clunk of every dump before switching sounds just fine after switching. - sounds like "bag of bones" when i drive over speed bumps, embarrassing. took a trip to tesla skyen, got fitter and he heard the horror show, - the neighbors must begin to wonder if we have a freak show going. lacking only killer clowns sightings so we have a new episode of american horror show. - it was noticed during servicethat the lower rear control arms on the front suspension were worn and need to be replaced. *these suspension failures are causing crashes. please investigate *
Here is a tesla in the salvage yard. https://m.iaai.com/vehicledetenc.aspx?auctionid=0&itemid=23919966&rowid=7&pagesource=vehicleresults# the front lh wheel is skewed inwards and over at an angle whilst the rh wheel is pointing straight forward. this indicates a broken steering or suspension component. there is no damage to the wheel and tire and no evidence of an impact hard enough to have broken the suspension. there have been many other cases where tesla suspensions have snapped. please investigate. please note: i am not the owner, merely a concerned citizen. date reported is an estimation. exact date of incident is unknown to me.

Owners are still reporting extreme and rapid wear of rear tires on the hidden inside edge that can go unnoticed until the tire blows out. here is a thread from the elbilforum in norway elbilforum.no/forum/index.php?board=49.0 sample: a: rear worn out after 50 days, 4000 km. reply # 480 on: friday 17 october 2014, in time 5:50 p.m." now i sit in verdal in nord-trndelag with flat rear tire. famous light vibrations in the rear tire when i drove on the e6, and thought that there was little air in the tires as it is 4 degrees. it turns out that one rear tire can not be racking up the compressor wife came with the e-mexico. i stroke her hand inside cover to reveal the "hole" is. it turns out that i touch the wires on the entire back, which means that the tire is completely worn down on the inside. this is one of four ps2 tires that i put two months ago (!) because the original tires were worn down (and the car was new in march). here is a long term owner complaining that tesla is unable to fix this despite replacing some of the suspension arms: a: rear worn out after 50 days, 4000 km. reply # 497 on: yesterday at. 3:32 p.m. " have them turn off spissingsstagene. have struggled with this for two years and despite repeated adjustments, there have not been good. however, when the bars were removed and checked, it turned out that they were destroyed and are not kept setting. do not know what the result mtp wear becomes even, but it is a fact that early rwd cars not struggling rear tires _helt_ evenly whatever you do with them. but it should not be "gnawing" at the innermost centimeters. this situation is putting lives at risk. please note that although this discussion is based in norway this is a us made car that is sold all over the world.
Ball joint equivalent fractured while pulling out of garage. front end fell, nearly bringing tire into contact with wheel well.
There are many teslas in the wrecking yards with broken front suspensions. owners are complaining on the forums of vibration problems that are causing damage to the drive shafts. tesla seems unable to fix this problem and it may be creating a risk of sudden failure. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/front-vibration-when-accelerating-accelerometer-graphs.72268/page-2 sample: @mmccord unfortunately replacing the half-shafts did solve the problem but only for one month. the vibration came back. after four attempts by the sc to fix it the car still has the vibration. now that you mentioned high setting now i can replicate the problem every time. it also explains why only in some circumstances i got the vibration. my driveway is a bit higher than the main road so i have the suspension set to high when i arrive home. when i usually leave before hitting a higher speed road the suspension will stay to high. the moment i pull into a high speed road ( > 35 mph, which is the threshold for standard setting), even a mild acceleration will cause the shudder. i had the following work done: front right halfshaft - dual motor (1030616-00-a) front left halfshaft - dual motor (1030615-00-a) front jackshaft assembly - dual motor (1030632-00-a) sdu re alignment front drive unit mounting bushes adjusting none of that solved the problem or solved it for a couple of weeks. my conclusion is that the car doesn't bode to well when transitioning from high to standard setting while you accelerate mildly or stronger. i use it daily at least two locations and now it explains why i am getting the shudder after leaving in exactly same spot. and yes it will wear the half shafts prematurely. anyone had this problem fixed for good? my sc seems clueless and the whole situation is embarrassing for them really. *tr
Here is another tesla model s whose back wheel has snapped off. https://m.iaai.com/vehicledetenc.aspx?auctionid=0&itemid=23148660&rowid=5&pagesource=vehicleresults# the broken suspension links can be clearly seen. the tread is worn away on the tire indicating that the wheel was turning for a long while before the suspension broke completely off. the suspension appears to have collapsed on all 4 wheels causing the tires to jam up inside the wheel wells and placing high stresses on the suspension components. this same fault is being seen over and over on teslas because they are not fitted with bump stops or limit stops on the air suspension. this is a very dangerous safety defect. please investigate.
Here is a forum post from an owner whose air suspension has collapsed (shortly after an unrelated very minor collision). https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/air-suspension-failing-on-the-same-day-someone-hit-me.77914/#post-1751484 "dohmer, 25 minutes ago new service advisor said the two damages are unlikely related so they will fix the suspension problem under warranty. seems service is pretty good so far. i'll know more about what exactly broke when i pick up the car next week" as you can see from the photograph and from the owners comments the car is almost scraping the ground and the wheels are in contact with the wheel well liners. the car does not have bump stops on the suspension and a small air leak can cause the car to bottom out. from looking at all the salvage wrecks it seems that this failure is extremely common and can also lead to breakage of other suspension parts when the wheel well liners flog about inside the well. i am surprised that this car could pass regulatory standards if there is no bump stop to prevent the suspension collapsing to such a low level. please ask the manufacturer why the car does not have this simple safety feature.
There has been a fatal crash in the netherlands which appears to have been caused by suspension failure. http://www.ad.nl/amersfoort/brandweer-worstelt-met-gecrashte-tesla~a1ec61b0/70382423/ please see attached photograph. back rh wheel skewed over at extreme angle. that part of the car has not been damaged by the crash. please investigate.
Here is a model s in the salvage yard. https://m.iaai.com/vehicledetenc.aspx?auctionid=0&itemid=22506868&rowid=2&pagesource=vehicleresults the lh front steering knuckle has snapped in half. the steel bumper bar which extends almost the full width of the car is undamaged. it is most unlikely that the damage to the front suspension was the result of the crash. it is far more likely that it was the cause of it. please investigate why so many examples of snapped suspensions are occurring on teslas than on any comparable vehicle.
This is a complaint about the fire issue on tesla cars. there has been a recent fire in france http://arstechnica.com/cars/2016/08/tesla-model-s-france-battery-fire/ there have also been two burned out tesla that have shown up in the salvage yards (photos attached). https://www.flickr.com/photos/136377865@n05/22399814414/in/album-72157661343139261/ the fires in the salvage yard cars have almost certainly been caused by collapsed suspensions. the tesla in the incident in france looks very low to the ground at the front of the car. the original inquiry into tesla fires was concluded when tesla advised that the ride height was raised for safety and a titanium safety shield was fitted. the ride height only remained high for a few months and was then dropped once more. the titanium shield does little to protect the battery in cases of suspension collapse. i also believe that the videos of the titanium shield pulverizing a concrete block and a car alternator are faked. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/03/shields-up-tesla-model-s-gains-free-titanium-and-aluminum-armor-upgrade/ the concrete block and the alternator in the low quality video do not obey newton's first law and do not exhibit the mechanical strength that would be expected of them. i am concerned that the authorities have relied upon these claims and representations made for the relatively flimsy shield plate which is attached only by pan-head screws. if the cells in the battery are hot due to recent charging or heavy use then a puncture to the battery casing and loss of coolant can easily cause a runaway thermal event. please revisit the fire investigation and determine if the fire hazard has been adequately resolved. *tr
