We have classified the 1 complaints from 2004 Suzuki Verona about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
This is my sisters car and has been getting steadily worse as time goes on. when she first purchased the car, 6 months ago, it was a slight hesitation. we thought it was the range sensor. that didn't solve the problem. neither did new plugs, nor patching some vacuum leaks, cleaning maf sensor. sudden, barely controllable speed changes, shifting out of sequence and hesitation when accelerating. this vehicle is a death trap. i feel, after all these testimonials, that gm should be held responsible. after all, the door tag says that it's a gm daewoo vehicle. just because it has a suzuki grille, doesn't mean anything. all of these cars need to be scrapped and the owners properly compensated.. *tr
When driving at slow speeds the engine stalls. most recently this happened during stop and go driving at about 7 mph. when accelerating out of a stop the car jerks and lunges forward. when driving at highway speeds the car runs rough. when accelerating to higher speeds the car hesitates and jerks. customer has taken car into 4 different mechanics for these problems - most recently to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the stalling. various attempts have been made to fix the rough running (spark plugs, alignment correction), but the problem persists. *tr
I purchased my 2004 suzuki verona on jan. 30, 2007. from the second day i own it, it has made noise like it was a diesel engine. i was told that the ticking sound coming from the top end of the motor was normal, that it was the self adjusting cam gears. i could hear a rod knocking in the lower end of the motor but no one at the service department could hear it and their trained to hear these type of things. suzuki supposedly rebuilt the top end of the motor but the ticking continued. they then were supposedly to have replaced the short block ( the lower end of the motor) but the rod continues to knock to this day. the car has died at speeds between 35 mph up to 70 mph. it died one day as i was making a left hand turn and i was barely able to avoid being broad sided by an on-coming vehicle where my mother could have been injured or killed. the car also surges forward sometimes when trying to stop or sitting still. it dies sometimes at take off causing me to nearly be rear ended quit a few times. i sued suzuki for breech of warranty and even though i did not get awarded what they should have had to pay, they did pay, admitting guilt. suzuki lies about work performed, they avoid doing work that is necessary. and then they deny all previous lies that they have told. and they claim to have one of the best warranties in america. *tr
I am sending you this complaint in an attempt to inform you of suzuki motor company that is located in you state. i live in texas but have been dealing with suzuki for over a year now trying to get them to make repairs to my vehicle so that i may not end up in a serious accident caused by the suzuki verona i own. my information may not be completely accurate but what i have read does warrant an investigation on your part. the suzuki verona was a model of daewoo then suzuki bought daewoo from general motors. one of the vehicles they put out on the market was the verona, i assume without making any changes to its drivetrain. i have read that the engine designed by daewoo was not designed to be operated using any type of fuel that contains ethanol. all fuel has atleast 10% ethanol no matter where you go in america. daewoo never intended for this vehicle to be sold in america. but suzuki put it on the market in america without any concern of what the consequences might be to the public. i have read over a hundred and fifty complaints about the verona and they all complain about the same thing, the engine. the engine has died on my verona while i have been on the highway and when i have been on regular surface streets. it has surged a few times and on one occasion i struck my brother while he was attempting to open our garage door. luckily i did not hit him very hard so he was not injured, just scratches. but could you imagine if a mother goes to pick up her children and while sitting at a crosswalk near the school her engine surges and the vehicle jumps into the crosswalk and strikes children possibly killing them or crippling them for life. suzuki has gone out of its way to do everything to avoid doing the proper repairs or replacing the engine. i have been lied to by the service department manager here in ft. worth and i have been lied to by the district service rep. ( jeff marris ), about the engine. *tr

I purchased a new 2004 suzuki verona april 2004. since then, the vehicle starts surging and lurching unexpectedly without any warning. i've taken it to the dealer for repair and they state there's nothing else they can do about it. the last time, approx 2 weeks ago, they downloaded a "patch" to reprogram a computer chip which did no good at all. i've complained to the dealer numerous times and brought it at least 4 times for this problem. my wife refuses to even drive this vehicle because it's an accident waiting to happen. francis g vinci, union, ohio. *nm
Transmission was having problems down shifting from the high gears, making it difficult to slow down . took vehicle to dealer for repairs several times, but the cause was still undetermined. *ak
When shifting from reverse to drive vehicle accelerated. this caused a minor collision. the vehicle was towed. dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. *ak
Vehicle stalls , shakes , and shuts down in traffic. *tc the problem was a direct cause of the engine control module. there was a recall and it was replaced. after the repairs were made the vehicle heat stopped working. it took almost a month before the heating problems was repaired because the part was on back order. the consumer feel she should not have been financially responsible for the repair of the heating system. *nm
When the transmission changed between 1st and 2nd gears it slowed down as if the brakes were being applied. *jb
While driving 30 mph vehicle stalled. consumer restarted vehicle, and took it to the dealer for inspection twice, and mechanic could not duplicate the problem. dealer refused to return the vehicle to consumer due to safety problem, and not being able to duplicate the problem. *ak pe04062_cat
