Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 2500. while driving, the vehicle shut off and lost braking and steering ability. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact had to shift into park and turn the ignition to restart the vehicle while it was still rolling. the contact drove to national dodge chrysler jeep ram (2223 n marine blvd, jacksonville, nc 28546, (910) 347-3777) where a code appeared that was unrelated to the failure. the contact stated that the vehicle previously experienced electrical failures from past repairs. the dealer could not determine the cause of the failure. the manufacturer stated that nothing could be done until the vehicle was at the dealer's shop. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer, but no failure was found. the failure mileage was 24,000.

Etc warning light, electronic throttle control , keeps coming on and taking it back to the dealer monday for the 3rd time. the throttle gets stuck and won't idle---the pedal works fine, it's an electronic problem. my wife almost ran threw the garage door. this happens while driving and idling anywhere.

Intermittent diesel exhaust enters vehicle when using heater. this occurs when driving, engine temperature normal, diesel exhaust will enter through heater vents. it stops if the heater is turned off and does not occur when heater is turned in a few minutes nor may it reoccur for an extended length of time. it is bad enough to cause a headache. i have to open the windows to clear the fumes. as it is intermittent i have not been able to reproduce for the ram dealer.

I have two outstanding recalls on my truck. the diesel water pump recall and the brake transmission shift interlock both of these recalls were issued in 2017 and neither has a remedy.

Multiple recalls open, dealer unable to fix due to parts unavailability. result in customers driving unsafe vehicles.

I recently received a notice of recall on my truck, regarding the potential for the water pump to fail, causing an engine compartment fire. however, there is currently no fix for the problem. i am very concerned because, not only do i drive it every day to work, it is our traveling truck and we use it to haul our large 5th wheel trailer. the potential for an engine compartment fire to occur while driving, or while we're hauling the trailer, is quite scary. a fix for this issue needs to be determined quickly.

Dead accelerator pedal. if driving with steady pedal and let up on accelerator pedal and then step back on the accurate, the truck doesn't move/no response for 5-10 seconds, then the truck speeds off. happens numerous times. also if at a stop and need to have full power to get across a 4 lane highway/or make a rapid left turn, you are a sitting duck because the pedal doesn't respond.

I feel i my complain is on par with so many others with a newer ram diesel. the dead pedal. i have nearly been hit more than 5 times now on several....several occasions due to no immediate acceleration at a light crossing an intersection, or going on the highway, switching lanes and trying to accelerate again. the delay in throttle response is the worst i have ever seen in a vehicle. my wife refuse to drive my "new" truck with our kids for this reason. i had my local dealer check it out and they said its normal to have such a bad delay, even said "dodge dropped the ball on this one". i have had friends and family comment on how bad the delay/lag is! i am very disheartened by this to the point that i am now pricing out a 2017 f-350. we are purchasing a new toy hauler and in no way would i hook it to my 2016 ram diesel due to the throttle delay/lag. this is my 4th dodge truck and to switch brands has been a major issue for me. i test drove a new ford f-250 (to be fair) and a f-350 dually and the take-off was insanely different. shame on you dodge for forcing me into this decision, but my family's safety is more important than brand loyalty. i hope this resonates with someone in a high enough position to actually do something about this, and not let me complaint just fall the wayside.

This truck has excessive torque management. it can also be described as dead pedal. if you press the accelerator pedal you can expect a serious delay before any power is transmitted to the wheels and this problem is magnified if you have just applied throttle, let off and immediately need the vehicle to accelerate such as when merging or crossing traffic.

Numerous times the diesel has stuttered and acted like it was going to die. this has happened several times. was taken to sealer and was told there is nothing wrong with it. it is making weird noises while shifting and is now throwing a cel with the code p0421.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 2500. while driving 55 mph, the engine stalled without warning. all the warning indicators illuminated after the failure occurred. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 4,000. the vin was not available.

Today i had a close call. cruising empty, not towing, someone pulled out right in front of me on the highway. got on the brakes. had a good opening in the next lane. pushed down on the gas peddle and started shifting lanes. the truck wouldn't accelerate, not even a little. after what seemed like 2-3 seconds it started to accelerate, and by then the car behind me was getting very close to my rear bumper. i didn't push the pedal to the floor but maybe i should have. anyway, i'm going to the dodge dealer and having a formal note put into my file about the problem. have had the truck 2 weeks. not happy and this could be very dangerous. i looked online and it seems this is a normal unfixed issue with these trucks, but seriously dangerous. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 2500. while driving 55 mph, the regeneration process warning indicator illuminated. upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed extreme heat coming from the exhaust pipe. the vehicle was taken to mcsweeney chrysler dodge jeep ram (2605 dr john haynes dr, pell city, al 35125, (205) 814-7300) where the contact was informed that they were aware of the failure. at night, blue flames came out of the exhaust pipe when the regeneration process began. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 35,775. *tt consumer stated it is not a failure but a design oversight. updated 11/27/18*jb

My 2016 ram 1500 almost killed me this morning. truck has 4,000 miles on it. at 4 am i was driving on i-10 east bound 170 miles from pensacola. cruise was set at 78 and i was in the passing lane. the road was pitch black. without any warning the engine lost power and all electrical. headlights went dark dash board, etc. needless to say i was panicked and managed somehow to make it to the right shoulder. after getting to the shoulder emergency flashers would not work everything was dead. just as i was considering getting out of the vehicle power came back on. i put on flashers and after i calmed down returned to the road. the next 200 miles were uneventful. i was scared to drive after dark after such an incident. i have a appointment in foley alabama with dodge next monday morning. also back in march i was waiting on the left turn lane and the transmission shifted from drive to park all by its self.

Driving on interstate 10 in traffic i went to accelerate to change lanes and my 2016 2500 the engine made a loud pop and lost all engine power. and didn't regain engine power for 3 seconds. it has done it several time since. it is a very scary feeling when your driving in heavy traffic. i do not get any codes or lights indicating a problem when this happens. was told by dealer service manager that without any codes coming up that it would be impossible to find the problem.

Had phone charging from usb port in truck. pulled into gas station and as i was turning the wheel to park in a spot, i touched the phone and the engine died.

B/t 15-20 mph, the engine shuts off. no warning, no noise, oil pressure gauge goes to nothing, and rpms drop to 0. i loose control of steering as well. everything else has power to it (radio, lights, etc work) has happened 4 times, 3 in a row, spent 2 days at dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong. happened the 4th time and i have it on video. its going back to the dealer on monday for them to try again. chrysler dodge is aware of it, and hasn't called to speak with me or returned my phone calls, its been 2wks.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 2500. while the vehicle was stopped at an intersection, the reduced throttle warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was unable to move. the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 1,600.

This is a big safety concern. my 2016 ram has major throttle delay. it becomes a safety concern when i'm pulling out into traffic, let off the accelerator and get back on it and it waits 1.5 to 2 seconds before the computer receives the command to give throttle. i have had one instance where i was proceeding to change lanes on the interstate and give it throttle but it didn't respond and then i was a sitting duck because my brand new truck didn't want to wake up and go. this is a known problem that is very well complained about by many ram owners and it's only a matter of time before this will get someone either hurt or killed as a result.

Throttle response, there is a huge delay between activating the pedal and the engine reacting to that input. crossing a busy street from a standstill is a gamble whether or not you'll accelerate in enough time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was restarted but the failure recurred shortly after. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure, however, re-flashed the computer. in addition, the technician deemed the vehicle unsafe to drive. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed that a terminal on the totally integrated power module was shearing off causing the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 124.

Life and death situation: the 2016 2500 ram diesel truck has a problem that causes it to do a complete electrical shutdown while driving. a complete loss of all electrical systems are lost, including a... complete engine failure... brake lights... power steering... power brakes. everything dies with no warning. just dead! fiat dodge ram knows about this problem and are allowing these vehicles to be sold to an unknowing public. the reason i know this is because when the dealer called the star hot line at ram they were told exactly where to go to find the problem!!! there have been numerous failures to date. this will get people killed. the 2016 rams have only been on the road for a month. i own one and my vehicle is presently in the shop for repair after 10 engine failures!!!! when there were no failure codes on my ram 2500.. and.. it failed and shut down on the tech when backing it out of the bay the vehicle was taken away from me as unsafe to drive. that was a week ago. it is still stuck in the same bay as it will not crank. problem: tipm totally integrated power module or pdc intel pwr. part # 68243265ad is the problem. the main terminal input carrying all electrical power into the vehicle is being over torqued during manufacture. this is causing the terminal to snap and only give intermitting power to the vehicle during operation and causing the total shut of the vehicle's computers and shutdown of the vehicle. in addition to the this problem which could cause possible death, the constant arcing of the computers has now caused additional problems to my vehicle. there is now a failure in the ignition switch module part # 68271986aa and it has a esd of feb 2016. i'll deal with my vehicle.. but allowing these 8000# vehicles on the road with this problem is inexcusable when dodge ram knows they have this safety issue. ....updated 12/30/15 *bf updated 05/21/18*jb
