Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2014 RAM 2500

Loss of power steering and very little braking power. extremely dangerous. calling dealership when they open and getting it towed in for warranty service asap. too many problems and recalls on this truck!!!!

Date 2/18/2018 and at mileage 68,000 power steering pump and the high pressure hose to booster failed. the failure resulted in lack of steering and brakes at highway speed driving to work.

Left front caliper is not releasing, one or both pistons seem to be hanging up. inconsistent problem while driving and when this happens, vehicle pulls hard left when braking. been to dealer twice and all they did was lube the slide pins. now vehicle is past 3/36 warranty

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 2500. while driving 70 mph, the steering and braking failed without warning. the contact turned on the hazard lights and forcefully steered to the side of the curb on a hill to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the water pump bearing and serpentine belt were not installed, and the coolant failed. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 49,294.

The integrated brake control system does not apply enough breaking power to the trailer. i have tried setting the gain from 0 to 10. i have used the manual trailer break control and had the same results. i can hear the trailer breaks engage at slow speed but this does not apply enough braking power. the trailer breaks have been checked and are good. the trailer has also been connected to another vehicle and the brakes worked as designed.

Factory installed trailer brake controller on the highest gain setting only slows truck and trailer minimally. after market brake controllers do a much better job.

My 8,000lb trailer will not slow down even after adjusting and checking all 4 electric brakes. f-150 hooked up to same trailer in same condition will stop the trailer very fast. many people are having this issue. see below: continental makes the itbm for chrysler to chrysler's requirements. itbm was redesigned for my13 and was used in 2013 and 2014 production which had a newly designed electrical architecture introduced for the 2013 model year. the new architecture changed the traditional brake switch signal and made it impossible for after market trailer brake solutions until the after market developed an interface cable. chrysler again changed the brake signal back to traditional signaling but for an unknown reason (and also undocumented), designed a 70% maximum output from the itbm at speeds below 30mph. what makes this move more mysterious is the manual slide on the itbm, typically used to set the gain of the itbm's output, will not put out maximum braking, but is also limited to the 70% rule making setting your gain impossible as instructed by the owners' manual. we are all waiting for something to happen from chrysler, all that is needed is a software update. i was told by chrysler, if a change was made, it would be introduced in the next ram hd refresh now scheduled for 2019. that was before more noise about this issue. depending on what voltage your trailer's brakes require for forceful stopping determines if you will see the 70% rule issue. for example, my montana needs 10.5 volts for a forceful stop, i'm out of luck. my utility trailer only need 6 volts, no problem, just difficult setting the gain.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 2500. while driving approximately 50 mph, the front driver side wheel began to shake and there was a burning odor from the driver side. the front driver side hood area began to smoke and the control began to become unstable. the abs warning light illuminated and the brakes became inoperable. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive, but no official diagnostic was given. the failure mileage was 34,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 2500. the contact stated that while making a turn, an abnormal sound was heard from the passenger side tire and the front wheels seized. the anti-lock brake system and the traction control warning lights illuminated. the 'service anti-lock brakes' warning message displayed. the contact mentioned that the tire on the front passenger side was completely ripped off due to the failure. the contact coasted to the road. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the front passenger tire was replaced by the contact and was taken to the dealer where the cause of the failure was not determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 23,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 2500. while driving on several occasions, the anti-lock brake and check engine warning indicators illuminated. while the brake pedal was depressed, the brakes failed to operate as intended. the dealer diagnosed that the alternator and battery needed to be replaced, and the anti-lock braking module needed to be re-calibrated. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 8,000.

While towing a travel trailer, accelerator was applied to allow me to pass some slow semi's. there was no response from the accelerator as i held it down for about 10 seconds. exhaust brake engaged!! it wasnt even on!! however, i had the cruise control on but not engaged. i quickly engaged the resume feature and used the accelerate function of the cruise control to speed up to avoid an accident. this has happened on multiple occasions but this by far the scariest. also the exhaust brake engages when not even on at random coasting times when not hauling anything. it is very dangerous to not be able to control a big truck due to these glitches. also two of these firestone tires have worn bald at 18000 miles. accelerator has no response when a quick stop and go transition is applied.

2500 hd outdoor edition, 2014. i purchased this truck with 7 miles. at 371 miles the brake sensors were staying engaged and i had a thick layer of brake dust coating the rims and burning brakes. the pass. side dash was falling apart and the carpet was shredding on that side also. they adjusted the sensors to read the same pressures inside and outside of the brake drum. reset and reprogrammed many computer sensors. then my key fob quit working, rear sliding window and tire monitor systems all stopped while i was traveling the mountain pass at 75 mph. from sept, 14, 14, when i unlock the truck with the key every alarm goes off and will not shut off until i start the truck. i could not get the dealership to order my parts or fix my truck so, in january i got an abs recall at this point i called chrysler corp and filed a consumer complaint with their repair team. they contacted the dealership with my concerns. since, they have changed/reset almost every sensor in this vehicle. from the navigation system, the radio system, they abs etc. key fob bad still, (3fixes). computer still malfunctioning badly (6th, fix). the locking unit went out of the sidebox toolboxes, the driver door control panel went out. odometer reads out at 12 miles over for every 28 traveled. i have documentation and records for 7100 miles, odometer reads over 12,000. chrysler corp. has been involved since jan 2015 but refuse to allow me to speak with anyone with authority to discuss lemon laws. say no such department exists. it goes back in mon. 2-16-15 for yet another round of repairs. *tr

I lowered passenger rear window. air came in i all most lost control of my truck..passenger front seat vibe rated so bad it came lose from floor.. dodge garage said this is not their problem.. people need to know about this problem.. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 dodge ram promaster 2500. the contact stated that while decelerating, the brakes emitted an extremely loud noise. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 94.
