While driving home, i noticed some noise that ounde like a turbo noise and loos of power. i pulled over immediately shut off engine and poped hood. looke up and smoke from engine. opened hood and saw small fire on rear passenger side of engine by turbo housing. soon the truck was totally engulfed by flames.

Tipm causing fuel pump to operate after ignition is turned off, draining battery, leaving family stranded in remote location.

Faulty key switch. does not allow key to fully turn off, and has to be retried, sometimes 3 times. something like black piece inside keyhole sticks. truck is 3 yrs,4 months old, and has only 18253 miles on it. it is past bumper to bumper, but this sure seems awful premature to fail. i am guessing it is safe to drive when the key goes in, just make sure it shuts off properly.

Driver side window off track, can hear motor running, window drops

Problems for several owners of 2016 ram trucks. they are complaining on a ram truck forum about their windows falling off the tracks and down into their doors. it is mainly happening to the driver's side window and only in cold weather. i tried to roll the window down, motor was working, window stayed in place..when it got a bit warmer, as i was driving, the window fell down. this is very common on the '16 models, my dealer said he has had them in all winter. it's happened twice to mine and the last time we didn't even roll the window down and weren't in the truck. ram designed the window track differently this year and it doesn't work.

2016 ram drivers window regulator failure.this the 3 time the nylon clip breaks when there is cold weather. if you get just a little freeze and open the window the clip cracks. the replacement part # is 2387602835. i have owned a vehicle and never had a problem in cold weather. i was told not open your windows in the winter months. chrysler service says don"t open the window when its below 32 degrees.

Radio shuts off without warning, locks up and will only turn back on when shutting off vehicle and restarting it. headlight flicker on and off while driving. headlight flicker has done this for 3 months now

At 61000 miles 'fuel sensor fail' warning light came on and fuel gauge read empty.also fuel low light came on flashing.

Extreme lag on acceleration from a dead stop. extreme lag on freeway while trying to pass or merge. post the aem emissions recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. the contact stated that when the fuel tank would reach half a tank, the check engine light would illuminate which then would turn into a low fuel light illuminating. the contact stated that the fuel gauge would then immediately read as empty. the contact took the vehicle to douglas jeep chrysler dodge ram (2382 s tamiami trail, venice, fl 34293) where they diagnosed the vehicle with a defective fuel sensor and gave the contact an estimate of $800.00. the manufacturer was notified and offer him no assistance; they referred him to nhtsa. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 50,000.

Driving home from work 22 august 2019, an 8 mile drive. i went to accelerate to reach posted speed limit after turning off of a side street onto main road. i had no forward momentum when i depressed the accelerator pedal. i attempted several times to manually shift gears thinking it was a transmission issue. the engine would rev up to rpm but still barely any forward momentum. i was losing speed quickly. something grabbed my attention, not sure if i heard something out of the ordinary but i happened to look out my review and side mirrors and notice a huge plume of smoke exiting my vehicle. at about that same moment, i noticed a low oil pressure light from the instrument cluster. i immediately pulled into a driveway and shut the vehicle off. once the vehicle was off, i still noticed a large amount of white smoke billowing from under the hood and front wheel wells. at first i thought it to be a coolant hose rupture due to the color of the smoke/steam. i immediately jumped out and opened the hood thinking it was a coolant issue. right away i noticed a flame at the rear of the engine. i had no access to water where i was located and my only option was to blow it out. it worked for me but probably only because i had got to the fire before it was able to spread too quick. fire/rescue was dispatched, removed engine cover and noticed smoldering plastic/wire harness and doused with 4-5 cups of water until all traces of fire were gone. tow truck delivered vehicle to dealership approx 10 miles from where vehicle was disabled. *dt *tr

The tailgate latch and backup camera. the latch does not lock with the key fob or key. at the time this occurred the backup camera stopped working. we no longer can use the camera. you can hear the clicking sound when trying to remote lock the tailgate but it fails to lock.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. every time the vehicle came to a complete stop, the contact would depress the brake pedal and the check electric control warning indicator illuminated. the failure caused the vehicle to lose power. the contact had to turn the vehicle off and back on in order for the vehicle to resume normal operation. the failure was experienced several times. the vehicle was taken to tom dinsdale automotive chrysler dodge jeep ram (2800 osborne dr e, hastings, ne 68901, (402) 463-3104) and a diagnostic test was performed, but a failure code could not be located. the vehicle was also test driven, but the failure was not duplicated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 35,545.

Eco diesel recall on emissions, and now have safety acceleration or "lack of" from a stop, fuel economy went way down and use of alot def, ram is aware of it and have not fix check engine light has been on for past 4 months dealers reset and still comes back on, dealers can't fix and don't know how they stated wait for dodge fca i was dealing with felicia us customer care case number [xxx] fca she had to cancel case instructed by her bosses because their is no fix.*dt consumer stated failed software was installed which made it unsafe to drive. Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. while driving 15 mph down a hill, all the instrument panel indicators began to blink and the engine shut off. all power was lost and the contact had to stand on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. when the vehicle was restarted, the failure recurred twice while traveling down the hill. the contact was finally able to stop the vehicle at the bottom of the hill. the contact parked the vehicle for a few minutes before driving home. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 27,800.

The evic (electronic vehicle information center) switches do not work so i cannot see safety related issues displayed on the instrument panel. lights on cruise switch and electronic gear shift do not illuminate nor does the evic control buttons located on the left and right side of steering wheel . i was driving at night and while trying to set the cruise control, because the lights won't illuminate i hit the gear down button and downshifted to 1st on the highway while doing about 55mph almost causing a accident. from research i've done online i believe it may have a bad clockspring as other owners have had the same issue on the same and similar year models

The horn and the steering wheel controls do not work. the horn will work when locking my vehicle with the key fob but not by pressing the horn. the controls on the steering wheel do not work at all.

After i bought my 2016 ram 1500 in february 2019 i noticed my horn and the evic on the instrument cluster stopped working causing me not to be able to read my tpms or oil life or any other evic functions. also with the horn not working i feel it's a huge safety issue there is a recall for this same issue on previous year models. i have noticed that the lights on the evic and cruise control switches don't illuminate either. by googling the issue it seems there are numerous other ram 1500 owners with the same issue. i feel these are all major safety issues and should be investigated.

28 degrees f this morning. i started truck and let it warm up for 5 min. disengaged the parking brake, put it in drive. as i started to move (3) error messages came up on dash: service shifter, service transmission, service throttle control. i stopped truck, turned it off and then started it again. no error codes; engine warning light on. i drove to work 2.5 miles away. i had to stop at a traffic light and engine just turned off. dash board was flickering. i put truck in park, turned key off and then tried to restart truck. nothing, lights still flickering on dash. i tried to put on hazard lights but no power to them. i tried multiple times to restart truck but to no avail. at some point it wouldn't even let me turn the key to off. it was stuck in the "accessory" position. i did catch an error message on the dashboard that said "no bus". if i was moving when truck shut down i would have gotten into an accident; no power brakes or steering. after about 5 minutes sitting at traffic light, the dashboard lights stopped flickering and the truck appeared to reset itself. at this point i was able to start the truck and get to work. the truck has been in four times for "service shifter" error. on three of the visits the dealer loaded new software into the truck to address this and a few recalls. the last visit (3) weeks ago the software was changed so if the truck is not in park, the driver's door is open, truck is in gear, and the driver's foot is not pressing on the brake pedal the computer will put truck in park they also replaced the rotary shifter switch. since that time the service transmission, service shifter and service throttle control error started and has appeared three times. 2016 ram express 1500 was bought new in july 2017 and has 15,400 miles on it. i have no confidence in this vehicle as it will leave me stranded at some point.

The original problem happened earlier in january of 2019. i opened my vehicle and upon starting it, i began to put my seat belt on i noticed the tension on the belt was non existent. in fact i had to "help" the belt back down into the pulley. it has not worked since. shortly afterwards my air bag light came on on my dash. i have received multiple factory recall postcards in the mail at my new house listing my vin/vehicle as well as issues with the seat belt and air bag system. upon receiving these postcards, i followed the instructions as it stated on the card and called two local ram service centers: brunswick auto mart 3031 center rd, brunswick, oh 44212 (330) 460-0721 (authorized ram service center) and spitzer chrysler dodge jeep ram cleveland 13001 brookpark rd, brook park, oh 44142 (216) 267-2100. the brunswick service center refused to acknowledge the recalls as they pertain to my vehicle and told me that i would be charged. the brook park service center told me that my vin was not coming up in their system. i still receive the vehicle recall postcards from fiat-chrysler-dodge-ram however my local service centers refuse to fix the issues because i didnt purchase from them. i originally purchased this vehicle out of state. i have also has problems with my turn signal lamp consistently going out. i purchased the vehicle with less than 15,000 miles on it. it now has a little over 30,000 miles.

When the engine is shut off and the key removed the ignition portion of the switch does not come out and remains in the lower position in the switch. the key can be used to get the switch to the position to start the truck.this situation does not happen all of the time. the dealership said that they could not duplicate the problem..

Driving on a highway at 60 m/h engine start smoking and caught on fire without any previous alert or check engine light on after i pullover and lift the hood to inspect the smoke.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. while driving 45 mph, the fuel gauge went from full to empty. in addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and all the electrical features shut down. the vehicle was taken to brown motors of greenfield (399 federal st, greenfield, ma 01301) where it was diagnosed that either the fuel sensor or the sending unit needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 57,897.

When is raining park or driving passenger brake tail light indicate out, mirror won't close, driver side window won't work, dash board lights will be flashing on/off and buck up camera has a black/ color line screen, front differential has a crack on it.

Error code p0463 - fuel level sending unit failure. seems to happen to everyone right out of warranty... 40k miles, under 3 years old. was driving on the highway when warning lights and the audible notification started going off. low fuel warnings lit up too. fuel level sending unit high voltage failure is the eventual message on the dashboard. it throws one off when that happens, took me a minute to realize that i didn't in fact have a fuel leak and did in fact have plenty of gas.

Tl* the contact leases a 2016 ram 1500. the contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 18v486000 (latches/locks/linkages) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. the contact received the recall notification on september 27, 2017. the contact spoke with dodge, chrysler, jeep city (4395 us-130 burlington, new jersey 08016, (609-871-2800) numerous times about part availability. the dealer scheduled a repair appointment; however, when the contact arrived, the dealer stated that the manufacturer did not send the part. the dealer stated that the part would be available in october of 2017. in addition, the contact was unable to program the cruise control. the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control) on august 18, 2018, but the failure was not corrected. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 16,513. parts distribution disconnect for nhtsa campaign number: 18v486000.

Vehicle loss electricity while running on higway or road, at the beginning it started turning everything off and turning on about 2 or 3 seconds later. problem started at the beginning of june 2018. then on august 18 the car turned off completely and transmission turned to park by itself making a loud grinding sound, car did started again and was taken for service; it happened again on september 3, 2018.

My wife, dog and i pulled into a parking lot of a countertop supply store. it was approximately 80 degrease outside so i rolled down the windows to half and left the truck running in park to keep the a/c on for the dog. in this parking lot we were the only vehicle parked near by and there was no parking block in front of the truck. we were in the store approximately 20 min looking for a countertop then went to sit down with the sales specialist. about 5 min into that conversation the secretary in the front yelled "your truck is driving off". i immediately ran out the door to find my truck about 25 yards away and across the main road. the road did not have curbs but did have steep culverts on both sides (note: i would not think a truck at idle would make it up to the road) the truck "took off" per 3 workers that were near by in the lot moving a large slab of granite, and a simi driver was driving on the road stating that both my ram and his tractor hit tires and that's what got my truck to stop. everyone that witnessed this stated the dog was in the back seat and no one got out of the vehicle. as i approached the truck it sounded to be running at idle and when i grabbed the door handle the locks unlocked as normal. i found the truck in drive and rpm at normal idle range. the truck allowed me to put it back in park. i then restarted the truck, moved it back to the parking lot. the business has security camera footage of this showing how my truck un tampered with went from idle and park for 25ish min to driving across the road and i am currently perusing a copy of the tape. dealer was contacted and i was told to make an appointment late next week (earliest available) for an inspection, and until then to set the parking brake every time. truck appears to be driving as normal. the store was around 15 miles away, truck was parked all night leading up to event.

Dropping boat in water on slight grade ramp. put car in park and shut down. as i dropped boat from the trailer the truck rolled down the ramp immersing 3/4 of the body in the salt water. no one was behind the wheel. this product has had issues with rollaways

I keep having problems with the electrical system in the truck. the plugin areas for electronic devices in the rear passenger keeps burning out fuses. i am also having issues with my cruise control button on the steering wheel acting like it has a short turning itself on and off. this happens when i am driving the vehicle or in the drive way as well.

I have a 2016 ram ecodiesel fully loaded limited 1500 and i have had nothing but problems with it this past year. i have gone to three different dealerships and none of them can fix the vehicle it only has 40k miles on it and is in perfect condition other than now it is overheating and the fan is on constantly. i believe maybe there is a leak in the coolant line? i don't know, the service departments have been useless, i have been to the dealerships with the problem about 10 times. what do i do? it was a very expensive vehicle and i don't think i should have to be going through this. how do i get ram to respond? who do i contact to file a complaint with them?

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. while driving 70 mph, the service electronic control indicator illuminated and the vehicle would inadvertently decelerate. the contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned off and restarted the engine; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to a dealer (tate dodge chrysler jeep, 7429 ritchie hwy, glen burnie, md 21061, (410) 690- 3901) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body and ecu/computer needed to be flushed and reprogrammed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the warranty had expired. the failure mileage was 65,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. while driving 30 mph, the contact noticed that the service anti lock brake system indicator illuminated. the vehicle automatically slowed down, came to a complete stop, and shifted into park. the contact attempted to shift the gear back into drive, but was unable to do so. the vehicle was still running when it came to a complete stop. the contact had to have the vehicle towed. in order to place the vehicle on the tow truck, the vehicle had to have a switch underneath the bottom flipped for the vehicle to be attached to the tow truck. the vehicle was then towed to the dealer (telegraph chrysler dodge jeep, 12000 telegraph road, taylor, mi 48180) where the technician informed the contact that the vehicle had to be kept there in order to determine the cause of the failure. the vehicle was kept at the dealer for four days until the contact was able to regain access. the dealer stated that the failure codes confirmed the failure, but the cause could not be determined. in order to get the vehicle to switch gears, the technician disconnected and then reconnected the battery. afterwards, the vehicle drove normally. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the contact stated the manufacturer stated that the repair could not be repeated a second time and could not determine the cause of the failure. the contact was informed that the complaint would not be escalated and was offered a free tire rotation. the vin search revealed there were no recalls associated with the vehicle. the failure mileage was 26,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500 eco diesel. while the vehicle was stationary with the engine running, the contact exited while in park and the vehicle began to roll away. the vehicle didn't go into reverse until the contact was 20 feet from the vehicle. the contact's vehicle struck another parked vehicle which caused damage to the driver's side front fender and the driver's door. the vehicle was taken to spitzer chrysler dodge jeep ram of homestead (30101 s dixie hwy, homestead, fl 33032, (305) 363-1645) to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle and that the failure would have to be replicated in order to know what caused the failure. additionally, the contact was unable to remove the key from the ignition after stopping the vehicle and placing the shifter in the park position. after three attempts, the contact was able to remove the key from the ignition. the manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000. *tt

My truck has under 20,000 miles, and i have had an electrical fire underneath my drivers seat, that caused the whole truck to fill with smoke. less than 2 weeks later, my passenger side front window fell off the track and into the door, during a heavy snowstorm, throwing slush, and snow into my passenger's face.*bf * *tr

Multiple times now my vehicle has been unable to start. after jumping the vehicle, it will stay running. i have taken it to the dealership and left it there for 3 days. (palmen motors kenosha, wi) there were unable to diagnose the problem. in the process, they charged the battery. within a few weeks, the battery was back dead and the vehicle needs to be jumped to start. the dealership is unable to identify the problem and i have an inoperable vehicle. it is still under warranty. (30,000 miles)

Placed vehicle in park as it sat in parking space beside the garage, with drivers side door close to exterior wall. vehicle was running at the time. i was exiting vehical when it began to move forward. resulting in my right leg being trapped within the door as the truck door hit the wall of the garage. i was then dragged and crushed between the vehicle and exterior wall of garage, until my body cleared the end of the garage and i was released. upon inspecting the vehicle i found the transmission was in drive instead of park where i had left it.

I would like to thank ram with the awesome troubleshooting skills you have provided me with my parking sensors in my 2016 ram. after 6 trips to the dealership replaced almost all the sensors and the control module. your answer is to turn off your sensors when it's not sunny and dry out because rain!!!! can affect an outdoor sensor. so anytime it rains i need to turn my sensors off and turn them back on when its dry. now explain to me why i would want to buy a fiat/chrysler product.

The oem trailer brake controller does not provide enough braking power to a towed trailer. the towed single axle travel trailer weighs just under 4,000lbs fully loaded. all gain and trailer type settings on the controller produce the same level of braking to the trailer at any speed from idle to 25-30mph or faster when using the manual brake lever on the controller. factory owner's manual describes the process for setting the gain is to move the manual brake lever to full braking so the wheels on the towed trailer lock up at 25mph and then reduce the gain until just before trailer wheels lock up. ram dealership says that the controller will not lock up the trailer wheels with the manual brake lever because the computer reads the speed of the truck, and if full braking isn't needed, it won't apply it. this is in direct contradiction with the information in the owner's manual. the oem brake controller is not working properly, and this is a huge safety issue because the trailer brakes are not getting the proper amount of power to safely stop the vehicle while towing. the controller will barely send enough braking power to slow and stop the vehicle at idle rolling speeds of 5-10mph. after searching online forums, numerous people are having the same issues with their rams manufactured in model year ranges from 2010 to 2016.

While driving the truck at night the lights flicker almost like as if you were flashing your lights at someone in front of you, this truck has been to dealership a total of 16 times for this reason. first they told me it was the way dodge built my truck and that it was normal, then next time we took it in they told me that it was my toll tag, i questioned ok which is it dodge made my truck this way or my toll tag, we got no response. now they just put my shop in the bay and leave it and do nothing to it for a couple of days then call me and tell me it's ready, yea been caught on camera buddies, see how warranty likes those videos ,y'all charging warranty for the work but your caught on camera doing absolutely nothing to my truck . good luck

Receiving error message and chime warning 'key in ignition' when ignition is in the off position in the key complete removed. took vehicle to the dealership, service department could not find any fault codes nor replicate the problem. they re-flashed the cpu to correct another problem with this vehicle; however it did not correct the problem. the problem first happen at ~5,000 miles. i captured problem via photo to take to the dealership. as of today the problem still occurs.

2016 dodge ram 1500. consumer writes in regards to defective uconnect system in vehicle. *ld consumer sent in additional correspondence. *ld the consumer stated there was a warranty that was being offered in good faith. the consumer stated the offer was not mutually agreeable. *js *js

When i get below 1/4 of a tank i have a fuel sensor failure every time that trows a check engine light

We have the knob shifter and when he stopped he put it in park (left engine running) he walked behind truck and into store and picked out what he needed and then while he was paying the teller noticed his trucked started moving in reverse so my son ran out to get in truck to stop it but was to late it his a pole which and shattered the window of gas station, i reported it to fca and they inspected it and said no problem but i have video and witness that states it was a couple minutes before it started moving. i have called mr. kon (fca) 586-274-8162 but he has not returned any of my call which leads me to believe they are hiding something. i did do some research and noticed this is a problem

Two times in the last month when we entered the noted vehicle the dash lights came on as expected but when the ignition button was pushed to start the vehicle dash became totally black an the vehicle would not start like there was no electric power , after about a minute all dash lights came on again and the vehicle was able to be started. immediately after the first time i took it to a dealer and was informed they could not find the real problem,i am taking it to a different dealer tomorrow for the same situation.

Fuel sensor fail light came on wirh the check engine light as i am parked, and my truck has a full tank

My son was driving south on i-15 towards san diego at 65mph in the travel lane (2nd left most lane) when his new truck suddenly and without warning completely shut itself off. the main screen on the dash prompted to shift into park (the truck was traveling at 65 mph at the time) to restart the truck. he was unable to pull over to the left due to the hov lane being very busy - he traversed three lanes of traffic to the right in a vehicle without power, or steering assist, and an inoperable electrical system. the blinker column switch did not activate the indicator lights. he was able to activate the emergency hazard flasher lights to show his emergent need to stop on the right shoulder. he stopped the truck near exit 31 on i-15 south. he was able to shift the truck into park and restart the truck. he was forced to continue driving the truck to nas north island san diego because he was on the flight schedule for a annual flight evaluation pre- deployment. the vehicle failure could easily have resulted in a fatality if another driver, less able to handle unforeseen dangerous mechanical failures, could have panicked in crowded california traffic. my son states that he has lost confidence in the vehicle, moreover that it is dangerous to the vehicle occupants and individuals who might be involved in a crashed caused by the sudden failure of the vehicle systems.
