Problems with 2015 RAM 1500 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On average, the 2015 RAM 1500 starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 51 408 miles.

Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2015 RAM 1500

Truck completely shuts off while driving down the road without warning, has egr and service electronic throttle control, service exhaust, has other related electrical problems that shows up as codes, replaced the fuel pump and it still shows low fuel pressure and take several seconds to crank now and my fuel mileage is decreased.

Fuel sensor/pump module failure. truck would read low or empty fuel even when the tank was filled up. the issue occurs when it is running or stationary.

When coming to a stop, a strong smell of diesel and def or anti freeze comes into cab. windows are up, it comes thru the vents.

I had the recall from ram for the ecodiesel recall and now the truck is complete unsafe. i can't even accelerate into traffic without getting nervous. the truck lags and the throttle response is terrible now. instead of buying them back like volkswagen did, chrysler put us in death traps.

I had the aem recall and the truck is extremely sluggish until it is completely warm. even if it sits for 1/2 hour or more it is very unresponsive for about 10 minutes. hard to cross an intersection etc. when it will barely move.

After aem update their is a throttle and turbo lag that has put me in harms way on numerous occasions. when making a left or right turn the engine fails to accelerate for some times up to a block making it impossible to merge safely with traffic this has resulted in numerous extremely close calls. both on city streets and highways the problem is in the new software that updated the required aem this problem is being ignored by fca and you how many accidents or deaths before you act?

Did the aem recall emissions reprogram. the truck now has very slow acceleration when cold. you have to floor the throttle to get it to move when cold. very dangerous when merging into traffic or leaving a stop. the fuel economy has dropped to 20-21 mpg from 25 and higher. it is a much different and not enjoyed truck anymore. talked with dealer. they are very aware of the issue as almost everyone has the same problems. nothing they can do but say "hopefully a different re flash or tune will be sent after the complaints" wishing now it was just a simple buy back offer.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact stated that the fuel sensor lever failed while driving 65 mph. the fuel sensor alarmed alerted that the fuel sensor failed and the fuel level displayed zero; however, the contact new that the fuel tank was full. the contact spoke with an unknown dealer who stated that the fuel level sensor could be replaced with the same part and would be under warranty for two years. the dealer stated that there was not a newly designed fuel lever sensor. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 36,186.

I had the updated aem installed in my 2015 ram eco diesel. now at times i step on the gas and it lags really bad(no power). this could be bad while in traffic etc

The engine and fuel lights turn on plus the fuel needle moved to empty, light comes on flashing fuel sensor fail. this started happening at around 45000 miles. i have been told i will have to drop the gas tank and replace the fuel pump. happens while idling or driving the truck

V08 recall. acceleration from any speed, including standing start is dangerously delayed, pulling into and across traffic is unpredictable. there is no throttle response until around 70% throttle, then acceleration is unpredictable and late. fuel consumption is beyond passable for such a potentially efficient and powerful engine. the purpose of the vehicle is light towing. the power train has been tuned to the point that it's useless, the vgt fights at above 70% capacity to maintain torque and power to the wheels. fuel injection timing ranges from -17 to +5 degrees, only to maintain emissions efficiency, the new ecu programming completely ignores efficient engine management- focusing on emissions control. system and engine components are not designed for the crazy egt temps that come with the late fuel injection. engine fires- intake manifold in particular- are becoming very common. will it take a few fatalities before something is done. all to prove some epa point. i could be getting 30 plus mpg, without the egr system, still target specific exhaust gas emissions reductions and get some reliability without fearing my vehicle will burst into flames or get t-boned trying to cross traffic.

My truck received the v08 emissions software recall before i purchased it in july of 2019. as with hundreds of other ecodiesel owners, i am experiencing a dangerous throttle lag when the engine is cold. if i try to turn left and merge into traffic, there is a several second delay before the truck starts building speed. i feel this could potentially cause a crash. i have unintentionally cut people off because of this throttle lag and angered other drivers. there are hundreds of people complaining about this after the v08 recall on internet forums. fca is supposed to have a fix coming according to the internet but who knows if that is true or how long it will take. the aem was "not supposed to alter vehicle performance" according to the recall letter. obviously that was not true. this is a dangerous problem that should be resolved in a timely manor. this should be addressed by a safety recall. some are also claiming their vehicles are catching fire after the aem was performed.

I own a 2015 ram 1500, which i purchased new in august of 2015. this vehicle has the ecodiesel engine as original equipment. this same engine was the topic of a class action law suit filed against fiat/chrysler. the agreements in the settlement of that suit requires ram dealers to update the engine software so that it will meet the original emissions specs. the update is also not supposed to effect drivability. my truck was updated with the v08 recall for this purpose. since this update, when the engine is cold, the truck has a very long delay (4~7 seconds) before it starts to accelerate from a stop. the engine then accelerates very slowly. it is a serious safety concern when trying to merge into traffic. once the engine comes to full operating temperature, it comes close to original performance, but it never performs as it did before the recall was done. the service department at my local ram dealer has verified that there is nothing wrong with any part on the engine, and the problem is a direct result of the v08 recall. this vehicle has been well maintained and exhibited no problems prior to this recall. the settlement required that the update did not effect drivability, but it did so in a dangerous manner.

After the v08 recall the drivability of vehicle is dangerous. the fuel consumption and the lag of the engine is also a huge concern but it handles totally different. while it still seems decently reliable, for now, everyday unsureness of trying to anticipate how the vehicle will handle during driving is the primary factor.

Unexpected acceleration followed by inability to stop or steer or limit acceleration. second accident, same vehicle, identical problem.

I had the recall done ( v 08 ) , now the throttle response is terrible and the fuel mileage has dropped by two mpg in town and two and a half mpg on the highway . you don't want to pull out into traffic unless you have a lot room because of severe throttle lag , it will lag and then take off like a rocket , but you never know when , also downshifts on hills that it never used to before . i wish i would never had the recall done !!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently had the approved emissions modification performed on my 2015 ram 1500 ecodiesel. since the modification, the truck has a terrible lag when i take off, sometimes up to 5 seconds. this happens when i put my foot on accelerator and try to go. this lag is going to get me hit and possibly killed. online forums of fellow ram ecodiesel owners state the same problem. ram needs to get this fixed and push out an update that will fix the problem or i'm going to get injured or killed in this truck. it is no longer safe to drive because of this recall modification.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while driving 35 mph, the fuel gauge dropped to 0 and the fuel sensor failure warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to desert 215 superstore (located at 8030 rafael rivera way, las vegas, nv 89113, (702) 963-8000), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 164,000.

Fuel sending unit issues around 80 k miles sends error codes and check engine lights . checked on multiple forums many consumers are having the same issue and it's not covered under warranties. it's a continuous problem around half a tank. check engine light code is for loss of signal to fuel sender

After recieving fca's recently released recall for the aem emissions recall the trucks performance is dangerously erratic. there are times the truck will hardly move from a stop pulling into cross traffic and other times it will accelerate extremely hard. this unknown makes it dangerous to operate in a lot of circumstances.

My 2015 ram has almost 32,000 miles . the check engine light came on yesterday after filling up my tank. it throws a code fuel sensor fail and fuel low. the fuel guage is on empty with 3\4 full tank. it happens while your driving or standing still iddling.

The recent ecodiesel recall was performed. as i pulled out of the dealership the truck stalled in the middle of a four lane road like the transmission slipped. the next day the truck literally stalled in the middle of the road. the rpms goes up to over 5000 then the truck slowly gains power. i pulled back into the lot and pressed the pedal to the floor from a dead stop and the same thing. went back to the dealership and was told the only complaint so far was a loss in mpg. on the ecodieselram. com forum several other ecodiesel owners are experiencing the same issue. this issue is going to get someone killed!

Involving the eco diesel emissions update performed on my 2015 ram 1500 at the dealership by fca on 06/11/19 said it would not change the driveablity of the vehicle but it has, in the acceleration that is delayed or sometimes just not there at all, this is inconsistent and intermittent when pulling out onto a roadway i must take the possibility in mind that the vehicle might not get going into the flow of traffic, i find this to be a safety hazard for every day drivers. thank you ,please advise

2015 ram 1500 with 69,000 miles on it and the check engine light comes on when truck gets to a half tank of gas had the code checked p0463 fuel sensor level. now i never know how much fuel is in the tank because cant trust the fuel gauge while traveling also truck wont start with remote start with check engine light on. from doing some research this seems to be a very common problem . its sad that you pay so much money for a truck and have to deal with situations like this.

My vehicle is completely stock and have never been modified. after the advance engine modification (v08), i notice a delay on the throttle. scary enough to not being able pull out of the way of accident is about to happen. it doesn't have enough power at initial push when over taking but when it gets there it will maintain the speed.

I am writing this for my elderly father. he has a 2015 ram 1500 diesel pick up truck that falls under the eco diesel settlement (class action lawsuit). my dad had the approved emissions modification (aem) that was required to update the emissions control software on may 28, 2019. after the aem completed by the dealer, the truck had throttle issues. when my dad pushed the pedal to accelerate, the vehicle would significantly lag to the point of not accelerating. this is a **continuous** and dangerous condition that was caused by the factory supplied software update. my dad made a complaint to the dealer three hours after the aem was updated on 5/28/19. he also complained to the dealer on june 6, 7, 8 2019 and on many other occasions. they tell him it could take 6 months to fix this dangerous condition. the factory "fix" has now created a dangerous condition. the dealer either can't or won't fix it. many people have apparently complained to the dealer to where the dealer is now advising vehicle owners to not install the factory aem "fix". the dealer tells my dad that factory/corporate is working on a fix.

Had v08 recall done and lost approx 5mpg and when leaving a stop sign at times cannot get to move very sluggish and a lot of throttle lag dealer states nothing is wrong along with fca but the truck did not do this prior to v08 recall

I had previously filed a complaint in regards to the effect of the aem (v08) ecodiesel class action settlement recall. the number of the previous complaint is: 11210536. in addition to what was previously reported as dangerous/safety related, the vehicle for several minutes after a cold start, although apparently running smoothly, when attempting to accelerate, will not. a turtle could out run the vehicle. it takes over 5 minutes of driving to get a more reasonable acceleration. again, regardless of a cold start, the vehicle will not accelerate after normal driving, then slowing, and then trying to accelerate. it takes several seconds for the transmission to downshift and for the turbo lag to go away - very dangerous when turning in front of or merging with traffic.

Very weak acceleration after aem update

While driving on the highway the engine and fuel lights turn on plus the fuel needle moved to empty knowing i just filled up one day earlier. after doing some research i found out it was the fuel sensor. other dodge owners also experienced the same problem after the vehicle mileage reached 60,000 or over. mine turned on at 63k. made an appointment to fix it tuesday june 18, 2019 after i saw a review it could cause a fire while driving.

Aem recall following the aem recall on the dodge ram ecodiesel, vehicle experiences dead spots in it acceleration. pressing the gas pedal, even to the floor, provides no input to the truck for 3-5 seconds. this issue has placed myself and my family in danger in multiple intersections and in merging traffic. vehicle has also experienced deminished fuel mileage of over 3mpg. fca specifically states the following: "the aem is not expected to change any of your key vehicle attributes, such as average fuel economy, reliability, durability, vehicle performance, drivability, engine noise or vibration, or other driving characteristics. click here to read the court approved notice that includes important additional details about the effect of the aem on your vehicle." almost all of the vehicle characteristics listed are affected in a negative way. in doing so, fca is placing all ecodiesel owners at risk.

Fiat chrysler (fca) recently settled a class action lawsuit affecting my ram ecodiesel truck. after that settlement, i was required to get a software flash called the "approved emissions modificatoin" (aem). after receiving that software "fix", my truck drives notably different and is now very dangerous due to the huge drop in power and increase in turbo lag. especially when the engine is cold or not completely up to operating temperature, i experience almost no throttle response when pulling out onto a highway by my house. there is a huge amount of turbo lag, to the tune of several seconds, which makes pulling out into traffic a very dangerous event. this was never an issue prior to the required aem update, so i'm filing a complaint to outline this drastic decrease in performance which is downright dangerous for thousands if not millions of ram and jeep customers.

My truck was involved in the epa lawsuit against fca for the ecodiesel. the settlement involved me taking the truck to the dealership for a software change. under the agreement it was not supposed to affect the drivability of the truck. after the software change my truck will not accelerate. i was at a stop sign and pulled into traffic and the truck would not accelerate i contacted fca and opened a case. i was told they know of the problem and do not have a fix. i now have a truck i can not pull out into traffic with. i just don't want anyone getting killed or injured because they did not test the update. i don't know if you can help me, but maybe you can point me in the right direction. thanks

After getting the most recent 'v08' recall on my 2015 ram eco diesel i've since had extreme lag on the truck when taking off. this make it extremely difficult when pulling out into traffic. this was not an issue before the update.

Why my vin number is not in the nhtsa data base regarding the ram 1500 pick up recall for 2014-2016 vehicles? involving majority of the drive train, exhaust, evc, and air intake.

The check engine light is on in many dodge ram 1500 pickup trucks. indicating there is a fuel sensor problem. if you use the remote start the engine it automatically shuts down within 15 seconds as if you have no fuel. dealerships are charging $1,000.00 to fix a widespread manufacturing issue. fuel gauge drops to empty when driving when tank is full and then returns to correct reading.

The engine light came on while driving, so i brought it to the dodge dealer. the ran a test and it shows a fuel sensor error. the dealership informed me that this is happening a lot and if not fixed soon it could cause a fire.

Engine shuts off instantly without warning while driving at various speeds. won't start back up for several hours. when trying to restart, starter turns but seems no gas is going to engine. truck only has 39k miles. when i walked away from the truck the auto starter tried to start it on it's own.

While driving on highway check engine light came on , fuel gauge went to empty and low fuel flashed across dash. took vehicle to local dealer after researching on internet to find out it was a common problem which has not been addressed by dodge/ram. dealer advised that the fuel level sensor had failed in the fuel pump assembly. the fuel pump assembly had to be replaced because it could cause vehicle to shut down because fuel pump malfunction

Making the 12 mile trip to work when at mile 10 my truck experienced a decrease in power followed by a shuddering noise when on the throttle. limped the vehicle off to the shoulder where i noted smoke. opened the hood to discover a small fire toward the rear of the engine compartment. tried to extinguish the flames with no luck and with in 5 mins the flames had engulfed the front of the truck.

About 4 weeks ago the check engine light came on. the code reads as fuel temperature sensor. after the recall for the tailgate, my truck tailgate has opened twice while driving. prior to the recall zero.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact stated that the fuel gauge was malfunctioning and not provide correct fuel readings. towbin dodge (275 auto mall dr, henderson, nv 89014,(702) 558-3800) was contacted and scheduled a service appointment. the dealer did not know if the repair would be covered under warranty. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 54,870.

2015 ram 1500 with 55,555 miles. the fuel sensor fail (p0463). this occurred first while driving 55mph with just over 3/4 tank. then again a few miles later. it now shows 'fuel sensor fail' any time under 3/4 of a tank. but works when at a full tank. i now must use my trip mileage to estimate when my fuel is low. i'm glad i got the extended warranty!

My fuel sensor fails after 30 miles into filling my gas tank. this began at about 50,000 miles and continues every time i fill the tank.

When filling the truck with fuel cann't remove the gas nozzle. have a hard time every time i fill my truck. some has to help me. is a recall on the filler hole.

Was driving in town not towing or loaded, truck stumbled like out of fuel. i pulled over and raised the hood and saw smoke coming from passengers side under the engine cover at the egr, egr cooler. with a fire extinguisher handy i pointed it under the engine cover putting the fire out on that side but the diesel fuel from the burnt plastic hose spread to the other side catching that side on fire. fca after sending a rep. could not determined what caused the fire but they would except no responsibility for the fire. they also said that they were sure that i would understand that fires happens. well i don't!! with over 40 years as a auto service center owner i do understand that the eco diesel has a very serious fire problem on their 2014/2017 ram 1500 ecodiesel. this fire problem is totally different from the environmental class action settlement suit.

55k miles on truck. engine light came on. pulled error code p0463 which indicated an issue with fuel level sensor. light went out after a few engine starts. today the engine light comes back on, fuel gauge goes to empty (even though it has 3/4 of a tank, and a fuel level sensors failure message displays on the dash. an internet search found that this is a huge problem with the 2014+ rams. the fuel sender wears a line on the sensor and the contacts not longer make contact. this needs to be a recall. the fix involves draining the tank, pulling the bed on the trunk and replacement of either the complete fuel pump or the fuel level sensor. cost estimates are $575 and on up. this is ridiculous for a truck that's only 3yrs old and 55k miles. i have a 1979 mercury bobcat and the gas gauge still works on it. this is just a poorly designed part that causes premature failure.

45000 miles and get p0463 code, fuel level sensor. estimated cost to fix, $1000

The fuel sensor goes out. it seems fca knows of this but not doing much to fixing it. complaints on utube also. it won't start in self-starting, fuel gauge stays on empty, and maintains a engine problem. can run out of gas on the highway if not fixed. can cost up $1000.00. it happened at 36, 499, just over the warranty.

Am getting a p203e error message. took it to dealer. there is a defective level sensor located inside the tank. problem is its a sealed tank with no access only way to fix is to replace the entire tank, pump and sensor. very bad design flaw. $2600 to replace. message is saying engine will fail to start after 500 miles. the def pump is working correctly but the engine thinks its almost empty.
