SOFTWARE 2 IGNITION 1

Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2015 RAM 1500

Engine caught fire due to egr system overheating (maybe burning internally) melting then spontaneously catching foam rubber pad above the egr diffuser tube on fire. resulted in melting wires, hose and other parts attached to engine. was quickly put out with a fire extinguisher. was driving to menards in normal illinois and smelled smoke at first stop light, thought it was van next to me. at next stop light smelled the smoke again and pulled into menards parking lot. saw lots of smoke coming out from under hood. raised hood looking for where smoke was coming from. saw a small flame, went to back of truck and took out fire extinguisher. went to front of truck and flame had turned to flames, extinguished fire.

At 55,000 miles, steering wheel controls stopped working. issue appears to be a worn or faulty clock spring.

Truck completely shuts off while driving down the road without warning, has egr and service electronic throttle control, service exhaust, has other related electrical problems that shows up as codes, replaced the fuel pump and it still shows low fuel pressure and take several seconds to crank now and my fuel mileage is decreased.

Driving on i -29 and we smelled comething like antifreeze then smoke. truck lost power then got it back and was going to try to make it to an exit but pulled over when smoke coming from under the hood. opened the hood and saw fire! called 911 and fire dept came but in a matter on minutes the truck burned up completely.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact stated that the vehicle did not respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the failure occurred after a software update was performed by auburn chrysler dodge (1901 grass valley hwy, auburn, ca 95603). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact stated that there was a software patch update required for the vehicle. the contact took the vehicle to healey chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram (557 ny-52, beacon, ny 12508, (845) 831-1148) for the update to be performed. after the update was performed, the contact stated that the vehicle would not move when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the contact stated that it took 10-15 seconds before the vehicle would move forward. also, while driving on a highway, the vehicle would not accelerate over 70 mph. the contact informed the dealer of the vehicle's lack of performance. the dealer stated that due to the system update, the vehicle would take time to become accustomed to the update and that, over time, the vehicle would resume normal driving. the contact stated that the failure continued while driving home. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that they were still awaiting another software update to correct the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

After v08/v11 recall was performed i now experience loss of acceleration till warm up. like a dead pedal. also a loss of a confirmed 5-6mpg. it was stated in the recall we would not loose mileage. if we did it would be very minimal. 5mpg is not minimal. my truck will barely stay in 8th gear now. just bouncing between 7th and 8th. now everyone is worried about all the fires due to egr valves sticking open and causing the plastic intake manifolds to catch fire. my wife is very nervous to take it on trips or even park it in the garage. we had new smoke detectors added in garage incase truck does catch on fire. please look into these issues. there are more than you think. pedal issue, loss of fuel mileage, engine compartment fires. thanks

On 7/29/19 at approximately 12:30 pm, was traveling between 60 - 65 mph, west bound on interstate 40 at n.c. mm 31, the truck lost power (limp in mode), the check engine & service automatic throttle control system lights came on. noticed a small amount of white smoke emitting from the underside of the truck. coasted off of the interstate and came to rest in a used car dealership's parking lot. turned the truck off and opened the hood where i found an approximately 8' flame projecting from under the plastic manifold cover. doused the flame with a bottle of drinking water and took the plastic cover off where i found the wiring harness sheathing engulfed in flames. extinguished that with an abc dry chemical extinguisher. currently the truck is at waynesville ram with no updates as of yet. had the egr recall completed on 6/19/19 at waynesville ram and had noticed decreased power and fuel mileage since but the decreases were minor and just accepted as fact from the recall. i am very concerned at present after researching this situation and conversing with others who have experienced very similar events with the same motor.

2015 ram eco diesel. recently, ram and jeep were involved in "in re: chrysler-dodge-jeep "ecodiesel" mdl," which resolved legal claims asserting that the vehicles do not comply with federal and state emissions regulations and that fiat chrysler made misrepresentations to consumers regarding the vehicles. i pulled this info from the eco diesel settlement website. in response to the above, customers were to get (3) things; (1) v08 software update; (2) money, dependent on your ownership status; and (3) a 10 warranty extension. i had the v08 software update completed at the end of may, 2019. since that update, my vehicle has had poor performance with lack of power and acceleration. within a week of having the update done, my check engine light was on with the electronic throttle warning light on as well. i took the vehicle to the dealership and they fixed the issue; however, the lack of acceleration and power remained. through june and july this lack of power and acceleration continued. i then took my vehicle in to the dealership towards the end of july and they opened a star report and told me this recall is having negative effects on a lot people's vehicles. i then took the truck back and was driving at the end of july when the electronic throttle control warning light came on again. this time, there was a smell similar to burning electrical. i pulled over and the within minutes the truck was engulfed in flames. fire personal were called and the fire was put out, but not before it engulfed the engine compartment and front of the cabin in flames. i filed a claim with my insurance and contacted fca. both parties sent fire investigators out to look at the vehicle. fca says, with the info at hand, the fire can't be associated with a manufacturing or assembly error. i also contacted the class action attorneys and sent them information from the fire as well.

After recall v08 /v11 updates: severly delayed trottle response when accelerating. from a stop to actual throttle responding to 3/4 pressure is at a minimum of 30-40 feet.

Tl- contact owns a 2015 dodge ram 1500; contact stated check engine illuminated while driving 75 mpg and fuel gauge returned to empty. the vehicle has not been diagnosed nor repaired by dealer (larry h. miller dodge ram tucson, 4220 e 22nd st, tucson, az 85711), (520) 395-9311). the manufacturer was not been contacted . failure mileage 42583. ep

Engine fire on 2015 ram 1500 ecodiesel. loss of engine power, but still running, at freeway speed. no warning lights or indicators. pulled to side of the road as "electronic throttle position failure" appeared on info screen. pulled over and opened the hood. there were flames coming from the back of the engine. complete loss.

Engine shuts off instantly without warning while driving at various speeds. won't start back up for several hours. when trying to restart, starter turns but seems no gas is going to engine. truck only has 39k miles. when i walked away from the truck the auto starter tried to start it on it's own.

Headlight developes condensation, causing headlight (high beam) to blow out (my case), but which ever is on will blow out. dealership is telling customers to run with high beam on to burn off the condensation. this only causes the bulb to blow.

The radio in the 2015 ram trucks has a lot of issues. the navigation will randomly go out, there is jo way to fix the issue, the issue fixes its self in time and without warning will go out again. the radio will not turn on at times, so all controls that go through the radio are also out. to get power to come back on i have to turn the truck on amd off several times. the part number for my radio is 1c6rr7nm1fs[xxx]. my truck is a laramie ecodiesel model. there have been hundreds of people who have had issues with the radios. ram knows of these issues but does nothing about it, treats it as tough luck. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tt

Took the truck in for a recall reflash of a controller. two weeks later, at 58mph, without warning dashboard lite up numerous symbols/codes and engine shutoff, losing power steering and power brakes. i steered vehicle onto side of road, and engine would not restart. took first dealership 4 weeks to diagnosis a crank position tone wheel, and sensor failure. vehicle was returned then 2 weeks later, while refueling at a gas station same failure occurred with diesel engine stoppage, and no restart. vehicle was taken to second chrysler dealership. vehicle has been in second dealership for 11 weeks, "undergoing diagnosis". as of 6/6/2019, no solution found. frankly, i do not believe they have a clue what is causing the random engine shut off, nor how to repair it. this is what makes it such a frightening defect. it appears random, with absolutely no warning until the dashboard lights up and instantaneously the engine shuts off. how am i suppose to drive a vehicle with my two children around, when it could stall at any time at any speed? i've been lucky twice. once at 58mph on a two lane road, once stationary. what if it fails merging on to an expressway, or crossing a railroad track? *tr

Vehicle turns off when hitting potholes on city streets while driving have to stop put in park and restart said vehicle was in shop may of 2018 for same issue vehicle on has 1000 mls since last repair per allen samuels dodge service adviser in aransas pass texas

I have a check engine light prompted by a fuel sensor fail warning. at times when the tank is full the light goes out and the fuel gauge works. when the tank gets to about 3/4 the check engine light comes on and the gauge drops to empty. i have looked in several repair forums and have discovered that this is a widespread problem on several year models. furthermore, it is an expensive repair costing anywhere from about 700.00 to 1,000.00 dollars. in these forums mechanics are advising not to replace the sensor with mopar parts as the issue will occur again. obviously these are substandard or defective parts. there should be a recall on these sensors. to add further frustration, i cannot get an annual inspection sticker with the check engine light on.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact stated that there was a defective battery placed in the vehicle. the battery exploded and damaged the starter, which caused the vehicle to stall. the vehicle was taken to branhaven jeep chrysler dodge ram (348 w main st, branford, ct 06405, (203) 488-6351) for repairs, but the vehicle stalled again. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, which caused the rear windshield to become smashed. the dealer kept the vehicle for nine weeks and a loaner vehicle was provided. the rear windshield was repaired, the engine harness was replaced, and an entirely new wiring system was installed. the contact expected some type of compensation from the dealer, but none was offered. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 45,000.

This is the second ram i have ownec with a shift knob on the dash. both have failed around 60k miles. in both trucks the shift will randomly either go jnto neutral or park while stopped.. has happened to me at red lights. i've had to shift back to park and reset the desired gear. on 3 separate occasions i had cycle the shifter 3 times before it would go into gear causing traffic to back up. i replaced the shifter and cured the problem on both trucks. this is obviously not an isolated incident and should be a safety recall.

The dealer had to replace the clockspring due to problems with the horn, airbag and steering/electrical. this was the same problem for 2012-2014 ram 1500s that were recalled, mileage for the truck is about 65000. cost for fixing it was 762.67. it is similar to nhtsa id number: 11065676 the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while driving various speeds, the lights on the steering wheel did not illuminate and the horn stopped working. chapman dodge chrysler jeep ram of scottsdale, arizona (3800 n 89th st, 85251) was made aware of the failure and requested that the vehicle be brought in for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 41,500.

Continue to receive check engine light code p0463 high level output fuel sensor. fuel gauge does not change and works correctly. should not have to pay $734 to $1400 to fix this sensor problem. // front park assist sensor broken. one sensor broken but fails the other sensors installed. should have to pay $765 to replace one sensor and paint to match the front bumper.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 2500. while driving 73 mph with the cruise control engaged, the cruise control did not disengage when the brake pedal was depressed. instead, the vehicle accelerated to 87 mph and the auto throttle warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control) at autonation (11200 n fwy service rd e, fort worth, tx 76177, 817-642-7894); however, the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 76,419. *tt updated 11/28/18*jb

No high beams no reverse lights no license plate lights

Electronic throttle engaged , as i was traveling up hill on a windy 2 lane road!. scary!

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control). riverhead chrysler dodge jeep ram (624 w main street, riverhead, ny) refused to perform the repair because the vehicle was not purchased from them, and also the part was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect. *tt updated 10/15/18*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system). the vehicle was taken to staunton chrysler dodge jeep ram (907 w frontage rd, staunton, il) to be repaired. two months later, while driving 61 mph with the cruise control activated, the speed increased to 70 mph down a hill. the contact stated that the vehicle also made an abnormal noise while driving up and down the hill. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they stated that it was normal for the vehicle to accelerate approximately 12 mph while driving on a decline. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 28,567. *tt *jb

Stereo not working - flashes ram logo and xm logo, then tries to update. nothing happens and no controls work. dealer wants 1800. to replace. drivers side lumbar not working, dealer said seat back needs replacing. hard to believe these need to be done on a 3 yr old vehicle with 44k miles on it. neither are safety items, however many are having the same issue with the radios in these vehicles.

The left hand controls on the steering have quit working. the is no way to reset the oil change error after changing the oil. you can not use any of the left hand controls.

I have multiple issues but the scariest is after setting the emergency brakes and putting my 2015 ram 1500 in park my truck will roll up to 4 feet. this happens almost every time i put it in park. every time i park it i worry that it will roll and hit a person or another vehicle.

I bought my 2015 ram 1500 on november 27, 2017. the truck looked as though it had been very well maintained and taken care of. the first or second week in december a check engine light came on as i was pulling in my neighborhood. it turned out to be a fuel pump sensor which the dealership replaced. now after a month and a half later, another check engine light has came on while parking at a restaurant. 3 codes have shown up for this cel. they are p26ab, p26a7, and p2681. these codes have something to do with the engine coolant bypass valve control. after only an hour of sitting in my driveway the following day there was a huge rainbow colored leak on the asphalt and fluid settling and dripping from the bottom of the transmission. i have taken very good care of this truck since i purchased it. it is just as clean as the day i took it off the lot. i am worried that there is something seriously wrong with this truck now and that the dealership will try and take advantage of me and the fact that the warranty was only for 30 days because when i purchased it the vehicle was used and had 72000 miles on it. this is my first dodge ram truck i have ever owned and so far i am very disappointed in the reliability. i will be taking it to the dealership one day this week when i can get off of work. hopefully they don't try to "pull one over" on me. attached is the leak in my driveway after an hour of being parked.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while driving various speeds, the lights on the steering wheel did not illuminate and the horn stopped working. chapman dodge chrysler jeep ram of scottsdale, arizona (3800 n 89th st, 85251) was made aware of the failure and requested that the vehicle be brought in for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 41,500.

My truck was idling in park with brake on. my truck jumped out of park into drive and ran into a tree with no body in drivers seat.

I put my truck in park on the electronic transmission control with engine running walked away about 20 yards when the truck started rolling i tried to run after it but only got myself hurt and the truck took out a mailbox and fence.these electronic transmission shifters are not to be trusted. im now afraid of it its not to be trusted i always make sure the emergency brake is on.i was lucky when it rolled across the road it did not hit another car

One day last week i woke up and my left rear steering wheel control button stopped functioning. (turns the radio station tuning down) also the high mounted reverse lights do not work when in reverse. i also had a blown high mounted rear brake light bulb out which was replaced. horn works no check engine light. i have not taken it to do to diagnostic cost.

My ram truck was parked in my driveway. i went out and started my truck, went back inside the house to gather my things approximately 2-3 minutes. when i came back out to my driveway my truck had started to roll down the driveway and ended up crashing into my neighbors fence. the truck was in park when started and somehow came out of gear or had a computer failure on the rotary shift knob. the dial indicator was still in park when i entered the vehicle after the roll away.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact stated that the key failed to turn in the ignition to start the vehicle. the key was also difficult to remove from the ignition. the failure was intermittent and mainly occurred after the vehicle had been parked and attempting to start the vehicle. two dealers (sherwood chrysler jeep dodge, 1915 n salisbury blvd, salisbury, md 21801, (410) 749-1301 and spirit chrysler dodge jeep, 1945 kings hwy, swedesboro, nj 08085, (856) 467-2200) were contacted, but did not diagnosis the vehicle. neither dealer mentioned that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v821000 (power train). the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Rear cab 3rd brake light leaks extreme amount of water when raining hard. there are hundards of video that highlight this issue. water entering the cab could potentially start a fire or some kind of electric short. chrysler/ram doesn't offer a solution to fix at their cost.

Has stalled while driving 2 times in the last week. the first time the radio and dash cluster stopped working then the truck engine shut off doing 80 down the highway. the second time it was just the engine that shut off doing 60 mph on a 2 lane road

April 14, 2017 my husband was heading east on i-20 in the tyler, texas area located in smith county texas.approaching his turn off at hwy 14. when exiting on the ramp he noticed smoke coming from the back of the truck. he looked and the service engine light was on and he began losing power. he was able to pull to a large parking area away from others. he got out of the vehicle and approached the hood when he noticed flames coming from the engine. he backed away from the vehicle at that time and called 911. our vehicle is not a total loss. last fall we had to replace the entire fuel system $6500 when the vehicle had less than 20,000 miles on it. now at little over 30,000 miles it's a total loss. i have contacted chrsyler and they are suppose to send inspectors to see if they can determine the cause. insurance inspectors are also coming this week too. i've read a lot of negatives for this truck and saw there was a recall for 4x2's for wiring issues that could short and cause a fire. our truck was a lone star 4x4 and not under this recall. i think these vehicles need to be looked at harder!! too many issues from too many owners.

We where stopped at a red light the console display said to place the vehicle into park. the dashboard then lost power and smoke started to come out from under the hood it was a light gray at first but quickly changed to brown and the flames where coming out. i had just enough time to get out and get my 6yr old son out of his car seat and then call 911. within a couple of minutes the engine was in flames.

While both driving, accelerating, stopped, starting, slowing and parked, the electrical components specifically the lights that illuminate the dash board on the rpm and speedometer gauges, start blinking (like a strobe) which is a huge distraction. the only remedy is to turn the dashboard lights all the way up, to where they should be while driving during daytime conditions. this causes a huge distraction since the interior is fully illuminated on dark roads. due to the horrible ram design of the headlights which don't project anything, this is a huge problem trying to navigate roadways with either the blinking dashboard or the lights all the way up. *tr

The headlamps are too dim, can't see at night. all the time

This vehicle was leased from mid country chrysler dodge jeep on 12/16/2015 as part of an eight vehicle fleet. on 10/5/2016, the vehicle failed to start and jumper cables were required to start the engine. vehicle operator is currently delivering the vehicle to the mid county dealership for repairs. the operator reports that the electrical system is erratic - the speedometer is not working, the tachometer is not working, the odometer is not working, indicator panel lights are flickering, and seat belt alert system is turning on without cause. mechanics report will be provided as it becomes available. while this is the first malfunction on this particular vehicle, it is important to note that our fleet consists solely of ram 1500s, with seven being 2016 models and one 2015. battery and electrical system failure has been pervasive throughout our entire fleet.

Similar to the 2012-2013 dodge durangos recal that involved the tipm and fuel pump relay. my 2015 ram 1500 began to not start as if it wasn't getting enough fuel with long crank times that have only gotten worse over the past few weeks. the last week, i noticed a gasoline smell after each occurence. today (2016-08-08) is has gotten to point that i never know if the truck will start. i have brought into my dealer today and the service tech mention that this sounded like the "durango" recall issue. i am asking that you extend the 2012-2013 jeep/durango to 2015 ram 1500's. i know the petition was denied but i'm asking that you re-evaluate customer complaints. nhtsa recall no. : 15v-115 - doesn't start on first try. heavy smell of fuel.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while driving 75 mph, the engine stalled without warning and all the lights on the instrument panel illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine ecu sensor and transmission pcu sensor failed. in addition, the vehicle experienced numerous electrical failures with the headlights and the instrument panel electrical sensor system. the front frame also separated due to defective bolts. the manufacturer was notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 6,240.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while driving approximately 35 mph, the "parking sensor disabled" indicator illuminated intermittently and the heated steering wheel did not work. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to st. charles jeep chrysler (1611 e main st, st charles, il 60174, 630-513-5353), but the failure was unable to be diagnosed. the technician; however, replaced the radio and the windshield wipers, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that the failures would be investigated. the contact was not called back. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 7,500.
