Oil leaking from part #68105583af, adapter-engine oil filter.
Major oil leak started at just under 100k miles on the truck. took it to the dealership after searching online for known issues, witch i found one on chrysler 3.6 motors year model 2014 witch was oilcooler/housing cracking. this is the engine my truck has as well. after the dealership checked the truck over this was the exact issue with the truck. the oil leak is located on top of the engine between the intake manifold and engine block and runs down back of engine to bottom of truck. with the amount of issues i have been able to find in a matter of minutes of searching and after being told that that part had been redesigned by the dealership i think this issue should be looked into.
My wife and i were on a long road trip with our infant during christmas. all aspects of my truck were operational and no warning signs. my truck is an ecodiesel. on the way home the temps were below freezing and it began to rain. we tried to turn the heat on in the truck to find there was no heat. the truck was running at normal operating temperature with no signs of overheating. we kept driving until i could safely exit the highway. we fueled up and i checked the truck over visually but found no reason for the truck to have no heat and still be operating under normal temperatures. we returned to driving and had heat for a brief moment before it stopped working again. still the truck was operating at normal temperature. when i finally decided to check the antifreeze level, i learned that the truck was very low and did not have enough to fill the heater core, but just enough to keep the truck from overheating. i added antifreeze and continued to drive the truck for a couple of weeks and could not determine where the leak was. finally, after reading several others having the same issue, i discovered a hidden leak in the egr cooler that was essentially leaking and burning off immediately leaving no trace behind of the leak. it eventually got bad enough that it would leave coolant puddles under the truck. even with the pool of coolant under the truck, there is no visible evidence of the leak except for minor dampness around one port of the egr cooler.
On 11/22/17 at around 5pm driving east bound on i-76 in pennsylvania our 2014 ram 1500 ecodiesel engine caught on fire. as i tried to stop i realized i had no brakes. we slowed to a stop as we started up a hill, i put it in park and we all got out just in time. a certified chrysler mechanic had just 2 days earlier finished installing a new engine. both the dealership & chrysler have denied all ownership and no root cause evaluation has been completed. i believe a fuel line failed due to faulty workmanship, but without a third party independent investigation i guess we will never know and some other customer may experience the same thing.
While driving on highway check engine light came on. smelled burning, another car pulled along side and yelled "you are on fire" after stopping the truck i was able to extinguish the flames under the engine by applying dry powder fire extingisher into the open hood. later investigation by a chrylser hired investigator indicated the starter cable short circuited to a sharp bracket attached to the frame causing the electrical harness to catch fire. in my opinion chrylser is dragging their feet in authorizing a warranty repair
Exhaust manifold bolts break off in the block and cause exhaust leaks. happened at 50k miles. was told by the repair shop it happens often.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 10 mph without warning. in addition, the service electric control warning indicator illuminated. the failure occurred intermittently. findlay chrysler dodge jeep ram (10305 u.s. 224 west, findlay, oh 45840, (419) 423-1715) diagnosed and repaired the turbo charger, but the failure recurred. reineke chrysler dodge jeep ram (207 w water st, north baltimore, oh 45872, (419) 492-7003) was contacted. the vehicle was not repaired a second time. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 97,800.
My ram 1500 will h the 5.7 hemingway v8 ha an exaust leak at the exaust manifold apparently due to a broken manifold mounting bolt. it makes a ticking noise when the engine is cold and then subsides when warmed up. i was concerned that carbon monoxide may be taken in by the cabin ventilation system and expose the occupants to this gas. research on the internet reveals many peopl have had this problem and have been told by ram dealers that a safety recall would be force hcomming.
On display it came up service electronic throttle control, truck went into limp mode to 38 mph running 3000 rpm's.
Starting at about 30k the check engine light came on and the error code read po456 (small evap leak), dodge dealer (peterson ) stated that the computer was so sensitive that they (the dealer) could not detect such a small leak.. so i was told they changed out some common items that had known issues and it should be fix.. at about 37k same exact issue same exact error code same exact response from the dealer.. but this time i was told they just replaced the whole evap system and to make sure i don't overfill the fuel tank.... now at 54k same exact issue same error po456 ..but now a much more noticeable heavy 'fuel' smell in the cab ' and i've been very careful not to 'overfill' the fuel tank'.best part dealer is saying sorry out of warranty.. huh, that's convenient.
This vehicle will stall when coming to a complete stop from time to time. there is no pattern when it happens. we own a second 2014 ram that does the same!!!
This vehicle will stall when coming to a complete stop from time to time. there is no pattern when it happens. very dangerous!!!!!! this is one of two 2014 ram 1500 we have that does this.
My 2014 ram 1500 pentastar 3.6 oil leak has a oil leak from the oil cooler this is also a safety hazard
Was driving truck in an empty lot after a snow storm with lots of ice. had traction control off and truck fishtailed around a corner and engine stalled. lights in interior were on and dash advised to shift into park to start. no knocking or strange noises prior, no check engine light after or before. rpms were below 3000 when engine stalled. after stall put truck into park and started up right away. tank was 3/4 full. only problem i have had with the truck but it is very serious problem that should be addressed. *tr
Theirs a lot of recalls they don't fix them and i'm scare of driving the truck.
My truck has an exhaust leak that allows raw diesel fumes to be drawn into the vehicle's hvac system. when the truck is stationary and the engine is idling, diesel exhaust fumes can be easily detected in the cab of the truck. because this truck is equipped with scr, def, and dpf systems, you should never be able to smell raw diesel exhaust when the engine is running. however, when the truck is stationary, you can smell raw diesel exhaust in the cab and when standing outside the truck. i believe the leak is coming from the exhaust elbow, just down stream from the turbo assembly. this is a known weak point in the exhaust system as many ram ecodiesel owners have experienced the same leak and symptoms.
Diesel exhaust fluid (def wasn't mix with the fuel to make the truck run properly. truck won't stay start. when truck start only go 30mph. has been in shop 10 times since i purchased it in may 2015. it is in the shop with no eta on the part so i am in a renter since 6sept2016. the dealership only cover 5 days of renter. so i am responsible for the remain of renter until truck repaired and still making my truck payment of $613.00. one time i was on the highway and it just stop wouldn't start at all had to be tow to the shop. the rest of the stop and go was on streets.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. the contact stated that the engine entered into braking mode and caused the vehicle to rapidly accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (lithia chrysler dodge ram fiat of spokane, 10701 north newport highway spokane, wa 99218, phone (509) 381-7460) several times for the failure, but the diagnostic could not render a failure code. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle was performing normally. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 1,000. ..updated 10/18/17*bf the consumer stated the failure occurs while on steep hills and/or in 2nd gear. the vehicle accelerated significantly without command. updated 10/25/2017*js
Engine blew up while i was driving on highway at 65 mi/h. lost of power. ecodiesel motor
Engine light came on along with the service electronic throttle control indicator. truck would not shift out of 1st gear; 3000 rpms, will not go over 25/30 mph. this was on vehicle start; can't drive it. it is in my garage. may need to be towed to service
Catastrophic exhaust gas record valve (egr) and egr cooler failures which resulted in plastic intake manifold failure. egr cooler severely plugged with soot/carbon well below mileage period of federal emissions warranty. no specified service requirements for this egr system. damage resulted in substantial loss of power, unable to maintain minimum speed on interstate 85 when intake manifold failure occurred. visible black smoke/soot was being emitted from exhaust under acceleration during this failure, clearly not in compliance with emissions standards.
At a red light engine ideal went from 800 rpm to 1500 rpm then back to 800 rpm.after green light started to drive then the electronic throttle light came on. uncontrolled acceleration of the truck happen could not shut the engine off or get the transmission out of drive had to brake very hard and apply parking brake to stop the truck. had the warning light for electric throttle on the panel finally the light went out and the throttle respond normally. headed home when the same happen again with same results nearly had a accident from this. then the light went out with temporary lost of brakes and control of the truck.then the throttle responded normally until i got home and but the truck into park the warning light came on engine rpm accelerated to 2500 rpm until i could turn the engine off.
2014 ram eco diesel, fails to properly accelerate, sometime acting as if it is stuck in high gear. total lack of throttle response. problem is random and began after p0401, p1296 & 1297 cel codes were set. creates substantial risk when crossing intersections.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving 20 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact lifted the hood and noticed that the fuel line leaked fuel onto the engine profusely. the vehicle was towed to a dealer and repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the vin was invalid. the failure mileage was 21,165.
Oil filler housing.. my oil filler housing cracked and caused a major oil leak and caused oil to cover everything on my engine took it to the dealer to be servifed and was told it's a common problem but isn't covered under warranty. the amount of oil that leaked everywhere could have cause a major fire.
On february 23 my ram 1500 eco diesel had a catastrophic bottom end engine failure while driving on the parkway at highway speed, breaking the crankshaft and sending a connecting rod through the engine block spilling engine oil onto the road and onto the tires. when i checked the ram1500.com diesel forum there are many more people that had a similar failure on trucks with less mileage than mine. i'm hoping to find out how many 1500 eco diesels were sold and how many have had a engine failure. thank you for your time. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled, but was able to be restarted. the vehicle was taken to vancampen motors inc. (601 w 3rd st, williamsport, pa 17701, (570) 326-0567), but the cause of the failure was not determined. the vehicle was not repaired and the failure persisted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 51,000.
The engine, a 5.7-liter v8, shuts down intermittently, usually when coming to a stop on city streets. this has happened approximately 25 to 30 times since the vehicle had just a few hundred miles, to today at approximately 35,000 miles. the dealer has not been able to diagnose or correct the problem. often i am not aware the engine has shut down, as powered items such as the radio continue to operate normally. i become aware of the issue only when i try to accelerate and there is no response and i then notice a flashing light next to the "d" on the gear selector knob. although this issue has largely been just an annoyance, since it usually occurs at stop signs and traffic lights, there was one instance when it occurred at high speed on a freeway as i was preparing to exit. the engine shut down as i was driving in the far-right lane, causing a sudden loss of speed in front of a big rig, which had no warning because it was not a deliberate action and my brake lights hadn't been activated. i was close enough to the off-ramp to coast off the freeway, but the big rig came dangerously close to rear-ending my vehicle. it is this incident, more than anything else, that prompted me to file this complaint, since it was not only extremely dangerous, but the problem that led to it will likely persist because there does not appear to be any identified repair or corrective action i can take.
I found out about a recall by fca that my 2014 dodge ram ecodiesel has a problem with the exhaust dampener. this is after i started researching the smell of exhaust fumes in the can when using the vehicles heat. i took my vehicle into the dodge dealership to have the recall repaired. the dealership stated that fca is only sending the repair parts in batches and cannot be ordered directly from fca. this means i must wait until they are in-stock at the dealership to have the problem repaired. i contacted ram customer service. ram customer service stated that the part shipping issue is known but the 'smell' is not considered a safety issue. i told them that the smell of exhaust is distinct and obvious. they still argued this is not a safety issue as their own tests demonstrate that the levels of exhaust do not pose a safety threat--they would not respond when i stated it is a health threat. at this time i still cannot get this exhaust fume problem fixed under fca's own recall since fca has made the repair parts availability limited since fca only ships the parts in batches not based on the need of the customers. the exhaust fumes have caused me two migraines and several normal headaches when using the heat on long drives (distances over 30 miles or driving times over one hour). the fca recall is 'r04'.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 dodge ram 1500. while attempting to park the vehicle, the engine seized and the electronic throttle control illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v459000 (air bags) and 15v517000 (electrical system, engine and engine cooling). the parts to do the repair were not available. the manufacturer was not aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 123,000. parts distribution disconnect.
Catastrophic engine failure @ 39,000 km. engine replaced by fcc. catastrophic engine failure again @ 58,000 km less than 20,000 km since original engine replaced. both times while driving on highway and had to take evasive measures to get off highway safely.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v517000 (electrical system, engine and engine cooling). the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. the vehicle was taken to the dealer more than three times and stated that the part was available. when the contact arrived at the dealer for the repair, she was informed that the part was not available for the vehicle to be repaired. the dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. the manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the contact's vehicle would receive the recall repair. the contact had not experienced a failure.
The computer malfunctioned i.e. satelleite radio malfunctioned folowed by an electric smell. the transmission jumps from r to p and d to p at slow speeds.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 dodge ram 1500. while parked at night, the contact stated that the vehicle was unoccupied and a loud unusual noise emitted from underneath the hood. the failure recurred sporadically at any given time. the vehicle was taken to the dealer eight times for diagnosis. the mechanic was unable to locate the failure. on the third visit, the dealer was able to duplicate the failure however, there was no solution and the failure persisted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
Received notice on 9/3/2015 about exhaust high frequency decoupler and notice on 10/9/2015 for battery wire harness. the dealer says they don't have parts. i received another notice on 1/20/2016 for same two problems. dealer says they have no parts. its been seven months and no word on parts.
You will be driving up an incline, not a steep on . the engine starts missing like it needs a tune up. it'a noticeable miss. we have another problem with the dash screen. the screen in the middle that tells you your mileage. it will start going in and out. mostly, it blacks out. we have mentioned this to dodge garage and they tweeked the screen but, it still does it, they also, tweeked the engine. theyn still do the same thing. i,m worried that we'll be going down the road and the truck will suddenly stop in the middle of the road.

We purchased a brand new ram 1500 february 27, 2015. we've been having the same on going problem with the vehicle since we purchased this vehicle. we brought it to the dealerships attention on several occasions and have been told the same thing every time which is "yes we acknowledge the problem is their however there is still no fix ".this has been going on for over 6 months. when you bring the vehicle. to a complete stop, it jumps or shifts as if it's trying to jump into another gear. when you try to drive off in the vehicle the vehicle gives a hesitation like it's trying to go into a higher gear before you even pull off. on top of this the vehicle currently have 3 recalls on it. we should not be experiencing this with a brand new truck. we've contacted the dealership several times regarding this issue but we're not getting any results. they just keep saying we're aware of the problem but there is stilll not a fix. we do not feel safe driving this vehicle and would like to see some results! we've been getting the same results for the past 6 or 7 months and have decided to contact nhtsa, hoping to get some results.
This truck was purchased brand new in sept 2014. within the first 4000 miles of driving the brand new vehicle exhaust started to come out from under the hood and started entering the cabin, it now has 22000 miles. i told the dealership and they said to bring it in and found nothing. 10000 miles checkup i told them the same thing but its getting a lot worse so they said it was when they did an oil change and oil got onto the exhaust so they cleaned my undercarriage, but the problem would still occur. 15000 i brought it in again and they replaced my catalytic converter saying that was they issue but as soon as i got home from the dealership it started again. i have since been contacting the dealership constantly because now there is a recall pertaining to the issue i specifically have (high frequency decoupler) recall (r04). since then they keep telling me the part is on backorder and i just have to wait for it. my truck smokes from under the hood and enters the cabin from the air vents, it gets to the point where you cant drive it without getting dizzy. north star dodge dealership in san antonio is who i have been contacting with this issue and charles specifically from the service department. there administration has done nothing to alleviate the issue for me or accommodate me in any way. from the time i have had this issue i have contacted the fca multiple times and they tell me the dealership has it on order but can do nothing about accommodating me either. the issue of carbon monoxide poisoning is a large concern for me because i drive me grandmother around who has serious heart conditions, this issue needs to be taken care of immediately and nobody is doing anything to accommodate my safety. please help my health is at risk and everybody how rides in my vehicle.
Traveling on highway feeder road at approximately 4:45 pm at approximately 30-35 mph. prepared to come to a stop at an approaching intersection controlled by 3 way stop signs. as i began to slow down the truck stalled out. the light over the d on the gear selector was flashing and the dash panel indicated that i should shift into park and restart the vehicle. i coasted to a safe stop, applied the brake and shifted to stop and restarted the vehicle. i remained on the feeder and the truck repeated the incident at the very next intersection. i got the truck running again and pulled into a gas station and called the local dodge dealership and talked to the service department who said they had never heard of this happening. this same incident happened three weeks ago but we thought it was a fluke. weather was average for this time of year. rainy and 43 degrees. had the heater running, the seat and steering wheel heater on. turned them all off concerned that they might be part of the cause. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 dodge ram 1500. while the vehicle was coasting downhill, the vehicle lunged forward and decreased in speed. the contact stated that the vehicle accelerated independently and decreased in speed independently. the rpms increased to 2,500-3,000 before the vehicle decreased in speed independently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 14,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. after restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 4,000.
On the afore mentioned date, i was operating vehicle on a 2 lane highway. when i attempted to pass a slower vehicle the transmission froze/locked into a lower gear, not allowing me to complete the pass of the other vehicle and there by forcing me to brake heavily to avoid a head on collision. i then returned the truck to the dealer whom i had just purchased from. as of this writing' they have neither found or corrected this issue. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. the contact stated that while driving at 80 mph, there was an abnormal odor of rubber and the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure recurred several occasions. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 20,000.
The 2014 ram 1500 sport i bought has had repeated dash and interior lighting problems. the dash lights randomly flicker or don't turn on at all. on some occasions no interior lights at all would work. the truck has been back to the dealership three times but still hasn't been repaired. the dealership has done software updates, re-grounded the electrical system and replaced the body control module without fixing the problem. in addition the remote start sometimes does not start the truck it locks the doors instead, the dealership has been unable to find a solution. i feel that the dial used to select the drive gear is a potential safety hazard. the dial is a similar size and shape as the comfort and radio controls and placed right next to other dash knobs. i believe that a driver could intend to change the radio station or turn the fan down but inadvertently take the truck out of gear. overall this truck has serious electrical flaws and the possibility of being knocked out of gear while driving. the vehicle is not safe in my opinion. *tr
Check engine light came on. that was 9/24/14. the check engine light has been through a myriad of "fixes". it is now 02/03/15 (5 1/2 months) - the check engine light is still on and the dealership has it in for "repair". the warranty requires that the vehicle not be driven when the check engine light is on, thus denying us of the regular use of the vehicle, which is critical in our cattle operation. the full nature of the complaint may be obtained by faxing or emailing a request to us. *tr
There is a very strong diesel exhaust smell in the cab of the truck. this is so strong my wife is unable to ride in the vehicle due to the nausea it causes her. i am concerned about the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning. everyone that has ridden in my truck, except anyone associated with the dodge dealer i have taken it to for repair, asks what is causing the smell. the dodge dealer says they can not smell anything. from researching this on the internet i know numerous other owners are having the same problem and concerns. dodge seems unwilling to work with me and i would like someone to check out my concerns and see if it warrants an official recall. this is on the new 3.0l eco-diesel engine. *tr
Oil leaks at the filter. filter has been upgraded and now a year later is still leaking. dealership is the only one that has changed the oil. it is due to go back in tomorrow, thursday july,30th.
