Problems with 2013 RAM 1500 AIR BAGS

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ram 1500. while driving 25 mph, the passenger side curtain and side air bags deployed, as well as the seat belt pretensioner, without warning or an impact occurring. the vehicle was taken to national dodge chrysler jeep ram (2223 n marine blvd, jacksonville, nc 28546, (844) 872-2972) where the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that a technician would be sent out in two days to inspect the vehicle. a complaint was filed with the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 69,195.

28 october 2019 i was in a serious vehicle accident with my 17 year old son in the truck and neither the driver's side or passenger side airbag deployed. *tr*jb *dt *tr

Service airbag warning light & chime continually activating. has been to chrysler dealer approximately 7 times for same issue only to re-occur shortly after being serviced. filed complaint with chrysler customer service but they have been unresponsive.

On 05/28/2019 recall's (t61, t79, u53) where all performed on my 2013 dodge ram 1500 pickup truck by the whitten brothers dealership located at: 10701 midlothian turnpike, richmond, va 23235 phone# (804) 378-0707. before picking up my vehicle the dealership called to notify me of a glitch with the engine light staying in the on position and the second issue had the service airbag coming on randomly. they said it could be fixed but i would have to pay. i didn't agree to this due to none of these issues were occurring prior to my visit. also, notified them i had worked previously for nhtsa and knew the recalls performed should have cleared out all the warnings and if not they needed to go back and fix them. sadly they did not fix them. i was given the runaround with random excuses for reason it might be and the topic of "money" kept being brought up. the dealership forged their words on the invoice implying the lights were on prior to service. i explained that i would be filing a report on they're location for the concern that these recall's (t61, t79, u53) were not performed correctly and for inappropriate behavior that was conducted. nicholas (134510) was the advisor who i spoke with. invoice# chcs592258 customer# 90932 invoice date: 05/28/19 the suggestion to cover up wires underneath the seats would possible fix the issues. please feel free to contact by phone# (xxxxx) or email: (xxxxx) i hope this will help others as much as i'm hoping it will help me to get this information out. I took my truck in for the recall on the occupant restraint control module, the light would come on all the time. it was tooken care of on 07/16/ 2018, and the light went off. 9 months l;ater it came back on.i took my truck back in on 04/29/2019. the advisor for hoblit chrysler, by the name od mario portillo 017155 called me and said it would cost $550 to repair and he said it was not the selt belt restrain.i said no i'am not paying, and that i was coming to get my ttruck. i notice that the like was off and he didn't state in the report. i came by and asked him to put it in the report that the light was not on, he did and he also stated that the light will come back on, but he would not say why the light is off now. i believe these are dishonest would please give me some info as to what should i do if this light comes back on.

Air suspension go off all that time when i'm goin fas like 70 then don't wnnt trun on anything and i have my family and kids i don't like that feeling

Today was the third time we took our dodge ram 1500 to the dodge dealer. the first time they washed it and removed snow which improved the service. the second time at bozeman dealer they said there was nothing they could do. i have talked to people in upstate michigan that have rams and have no problems with the airbag. this airbag system is defective. the third time i took it to bozeman they charged me 270 dollars to fill the airbags with nitrogen and on the way home the immediate service required for suspension service required. we tried to slow down and raise airbags and it would not work. we cannot lower or make our vehicle rise. the vehicle sits overnight and we come out and the bags are deflated. the truck rides very rough. we had to drive to bozeman in this mode. we are getting frustrated and when they tell us the airbags just do this in cold climates i disagree.

Air bag sistem / service light came on and my air bag might not deploy in case of an accident

The service airbag system warning keeps randomly beeping and flashing on dashboard.

As of yet, there has not been an accident happen. however, i just finished a 15 mile drive and my airbag light and the message "service airbag system" has come on and off 6 times at random. in doing my own research, if the clockspring in the wheel which connects the airbag loses connection it will cause that fault possibly leading to an airbag failure to deploy in the event of an accident. this happened both while moving and also while stationary.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ram 1500. the contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently. when the vehicle was turned off, the gear shift moved without the brake pedal being depressed. the contact stated that the vehicle was serviced per manufacturer recall numbers: t79, t35, and r36 at east carolina chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat (3401 s memorial dr, greenville, nc 27834, 888-848-5262), but they failed to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 46. the vin was not available.

As i was parking my vehicle i heard a click sound. immediately after the airbag light illuminated also horn/radio/cruise control stopped working. very unsafe. not fare for a defect like this to happen. after reading forums online this is a known problem that fca has not looked into.

Service air bag systems warning light turning on and off randomly while driving. not sure if this disabled air bag functionality.

Controls (cruise, gear up/down) on steering wheel non-operable. dealer diagnostics say clockspring (pn 68110740ae) is bad.

I purchased this truck and had issues and would like to be in the takata recall list. brought in to dealership 2 weeks after purchase and was told i have to pay for repairs they do not cover these areas very upset. please help me... thank you it happens when i start my vehicle and when moving...

Received mailing stating my air bags may be defective. takata airbag inflators. would like replace if defective.

When i purchased in october 2017 , i drove the truck for a couple of weeks when my passenger airbag light came on and also the seat belt signal came on brought it to dealership was told i must pay out of pocket, i respectfully told them that i should not have to pay out of pocket that there is a malfunction and they should fix it no response and charged me to look at it as i sat for 2 hours....

All steering wheel electrical function not working,including horn,air can not deploy, vehicle had this issue when new and clock spring and wiring was replaced 3 years ago, then recall was done for air bag and now the same problem. last week almost involved in accident and could not use horn to alert other driver. cruise control functions also do not operate, i am afraid to let wife drive with kids since air bag will not function if accident happens.

I received a safety recall letter in the mail on july 03,2017. the dealership where i purchased the vehicle refused to make the necessary repairs. the dealership is located at 2173 south woodland boulevard deland , florida 32720. phone number (386)736-3000. refer to t25/nhtsa 17v-302 .

April 15th 2017 i was leaving a friends house where my vehicle was park. i got in my vehicle and started the engine. when all the gauges lite up for the system check i noticed my air bag light was still on. i tried to turn off the engine and then restart the vehicle but was unsuccessful. the air bag light was still on. for the next 3 days and still, my air bag light is on and i get periodically a message on my dash stating "service air bag".

When passeat is decline the airbag warning light come on,have airbag service.

I had a car accident on december 4 ,2016. and my airbags didn't came out causing injury to my ribs and neck.

At startup, horn and all electrical buttons on the left side of the steering wheel and back of the steering wheel were inoperative. unable to make hands free calls, blow horn, or change drivers display screens. will the steering wheel airbag work? truck was sent to dealer for repairs and returned not repaired. it's gaong back again. milage 21,112, owned 36 months and 3 weeks.

Service airbag system. service electronic braking system. service pwer steering. service electronic trottle conteol. service power steering. these came up wore throng it on to leave for the day. that happened 2 times. truck had to be towed. upload to software was done. 2 days later the a/c fan went out. it was replaced but still turned off antway. dealer stayed radio need to be replaced. 5 wks latter - it's beyond installed. dealer stayed software upload had nothing to do with radio mess up. i beg to differ. radio controls alot of stuff critical to the function of the truck. it's happened several times for over 8 months. it's been in the shop more than i've driven.

The truck hit a bank an flipped over an air bags never come out on drivers side.

On july 22nd when leaving work, the vehicle was driven out of the parking lot and took two left hand turns and a right hand turn onto a busy road. the turn signals were working intermittingly the last time they were used. once the right hand turn was completed, and began driving down the road, the drivers steering wheel airbag deployed. once the vehicle control was regained it was pulled over to the side of the road and shut off. the airbag looked to have burn hole in it and there was the smell similar to plastic melting. the key was turned back on and at that time no turn signals would work and the wipers would not stop operating. although the airbag deployed and diverted attention when it went off, it did not fully inflate either. the dealership was contacted and they recommended filing a complaint with chrysler. since the dealer was only a couple miles away, the vehicle was driven to them. i contacted chrysler and filed a complaint. they advised that the dealer is not to touch it until an investigator contacts them, and that i will be provided an alternate source of transportation. i contacted chrysler and was advised there was nothing they could do and it was in the hands of a different department that i was not allowed to contact. after numerous requests to speak with a supervisor and the alternate department, i was finally contacted by mr. kon of special investigations on august 15th. he advised that there will be no transportation provided unless chrysler determines that they are at fault for this. he was also unable to provide any timeline as to when someone would be able look at the vehicle. the dealership is also taking the approach that they will not offer a source of transportation until it is approved by chrysler. the r36 recall related to this same symptom was reportedly done by the dealer in the spring of 2016.

2013 dodge ram 2500. consumer writes in regards to recall notices occupant restraints control, airbag deployment system and fuel leak/fire and requests dealership to pick up vehicle to complete recalls.. *smd

I had the 2 air bag recalls work performed at dealership. less than 2 months later the service airbag system light and message indicator came on upon cranking and stayed on, so i took it immediately to the dealer. they kept it for several days. they said the harness connector was bad and they needed to order a new one. the next day they called and said the truck was ready. they told me they had simply bent the harness connectors and that solved the problem. a month or so later the light came on and stayed on upon cranking. i took it in to the dealer. the service tech pulled on of my boys' small footballs from under the driver seat and fiddled with the harness and said that it would probably fix it, but come back if not. (up until now was before three years or 36,000 miles had elapsed.) i took the truck in for the recommended 30,000 mile service and stressed that warranty period would soon run so check air bag light and everything else. a few more months go by and the air bag system light and message indicator comes back on but goes off within a few minutes. i called the dealer service department and tech said "as long as it goes off it is ok. it sometimes just does a self-check on the system." after a couple of days no more light. a few weeks ago the light and message indicator came one and went off within a few minutes. now the intermittent air bag system light and message indicator continues (generally upon cranking, but often while driving). sometimes multiple times a day; sometime not for a day or so. i cannot get dealer to return my calls. *tr

Takata recall: i was recently involved in an accident in which my driver side air bag did not deploy when it should have. there was so much impact that the passenger side front and rear curtain air bags deployed on the other vehicle involved in the accident. i was stopped at a stop sign preparing to cross a very busy intersection. once i determined it was clear i began to roll away from the stop sign when suddenly a south bound car entered the intersection without it's lights on and collided with the front driver's side of my vehicle. at the point of impact, the south bound car was traveling at least 45 mph and my vehicle had merely rolled away from the stop sign and i slammed on my breaks just prior to impact. i was not traveling more than 5 mph when the vehicles collided. once both vehicles had come to a complete stop i realized i had struck the back of my head on the driver's side window extremely hard but no air bag deployment had taken place. there was so much force in the impact that the frame on my vehicle was bent. the other driver was cited in the accident any my vehicle sustained $16,000 in damage. i am extremely frustrated that the side curtain air bags did not deploy and now i'm facing the fact that i will have to continue to drive a repaired vehicle that may or may not provide me with all the safety that i demand moving forward. i respectfully ask for your assistance in helping me hold the manufacturer liable for my situation and rectifying the situation. had i rolled into the intersection any farther than i did, i may not be alive to file this complaint.

Owned truck for approximately 2 years with no problems observed. received notice of 3 recalls 2 of which were related to air bag issues. work was preformed by dealer i purchased truck. approximately 1 month later air bag light comes on. this is the first time ever a light came on. dealer examined found defective passenger air bag. they replaced at my expense of $600. about 1 month later an intermittent air bag light comes on and off. dealer examined found defective wire harness for passenger air bag. fixed at my expense of $300.

I was involved in a front end crash impact speed at about 35-40 mph and airbags did not deploy. th crash occurred on a business/residential roadway.

No accident yet, if this is hot recall why am i having to wait 6 months before the dealer can check my vehicle or repair it.
