Antifreeze leaking into transmission from faulty radiator. *tr

My 2007 nissan x-terra began suffering cross contamination of transmission fluid and radiator fluid around 88,000 miles. i have had to have the radiator replaced, the radiator lines flushed twice and i am still having a problem with the radiator trying to overheat due to the cross contamination. in addition to the radiator i have had transmission issues as a result of electronic module failures in the transmission. i contacted nissan about this matter and they notified me the warranty had been extended but i was still outside the warranty extension and that it would cost me close to $5,000 out of my pocket to replace the transmission and radiator. i have already spent almost half that trying to fix this vehicle and continue to have issues. nissan has a product defect and should have to stand behind this issue. *tr

My nissan which i loved originally when i purchased it brand new has been nothing but problems and i have maintained it and serviced it faithfully. i had taken my truck for service twice prior to this incident for regular maintenance and nothing was detected as far as the radiator cracking. this is what causes the transmission to go. the first time i went for service it was still under warranty nothing was said. the second time at 80588 another service was done basic oil change and tire rotation supposedly everything checked out fine each time a multi point inspections was done. i imagine this includes placing the vehicle on the diagnostic computerized machine. well, shortly after this is when my major problems began. my vehicle began to vibrate as if i was on the highway riding on the shoulder were the warning strips with the grids vibrates your car when you go over onto them. i related the vibration to the recent tire rotation i checked the tires made sure nuts were tight and nothing was off; everything checked out fine. the awkward vibration continued so i scheduled an appointment with my local nissan dealer and that?s when i got the devastating news a whopping $7371.00 in repairs for a cracked radiator and damaged transmission. there were no warning signs what so ever no engine light, no overheating, and no smell of antifreeze. nissan is fully aware of the problem and so are the dealers. nothing was said to me with prior visits and they quickly knew what the problem was and were certain of the problem. these dealers are definitely aware and making money off innocent consumers for these unjust out of pocket repairs. where is the justice in all of this? *tr

My transmission starting slipping. the problem was that the radiator cracked and allowed anti-freeze to leak into the transmission. our winters are very snowy, icy and cold leaving me without heat and in a dangerous situation in wintry conditions. *tr

Timins chains wear down too easily. *tr

My check engine son light came on, i went to autozone and i was told the error code stated fuel sending unit/sensor. i was told that nissan recommends you keep a half a tank of gas in the tank. my xterra guage is very unpredictable 90% of the time even when i fill the tank up the guage doesn't register, and it's stuck on e with the gas light on constantly, which has caused me a single mother of 3 to run out of gas twice. i have done some research and found that there was a voluntary recall, but i've been told that there wasn't. i also live in a city where there is emissions testing which i can't pass because of the check engine light, i cannot receive my vehicle tag, which means i can't work or drive. i would like this sensor replaced at no charge to me because as reading online there has been 53,000 people with the same issue. i would like to know what are my options and the next step i can take to get this resolved. *tt

Coolant leak into transmission. common problem to design flaw. costly $5,000+ repair. *tr

My car 2007 nissan xterra started to make a revving noise under the hood on sunday 10/2/2011. the next day i was on the highway on my way home from work when the check engine light came on. i cautiously drove the min speed limit to the mid-city nissan dealership which was less than 2 miles away at this point. the next day, mid-city nissan informed me that i needed the timing chain repaired asap. this sight isn't the better business bureau so i'll save you the extraneous lies nissan tried to sell me so they didn't have to fix my car which was under 46000 miles and still under extended nissan factory warranty. not wanting to spend $2000 on a car that i am still paying for and is still considerably new at 46000 miles. so i called my trusted neighborhood mechanic to look at it. he concluded that the guards on the secondary belt are worn away and it need to be replaced. looking into "timing chains on nissan trucks" becomes quite a fruitful search when browsing the internet. right now there is a service bulletin for defective engines in trucks like mine. this is the first truck i've owned and i believed that the high pitched whining sound coming out of the engine was normal for such a big, powerful car. i'm afraid that the engine has sounded like this for the last few thousand miles. i feel if it's such a widespread problem among nissan truck owners, it could one day result in someones engine stalling on the highway. thank goodness it wasn't me. nissan needs to address this problem and there should be a recall on these engine parts. *tr

Service engine light came on then fuel gauge no longer works. seems to be a recurring problem in nissans. *tr

No failure occurred, though while at the dealership for replacement of a faulty factory part, i was informed of another failing factory part (the timing chain guides) that was a well known and documented problem that nissan failed to address for its consumers. the cost of the repair was estimated at $1533.64. *tr

Transmission and radiator failure making it unsafe to drive, nissan company is well aware of these issues and refuse to do a recall and refuse to let their customers to be aware of the issue. as for me i am pre-med and i need my vehicle to get to school and work i as caregiver for an elderly man and woman so not a very much of an income so i depend on my car about a month ago i was driving on the highway when i heard a noise at the back end shuddered as if i was driving over rumble strips i took it in on my next oil change. *kb

Nissan unsafe failure parts transmission and radiators hi my name is [xxx] my story begins as a happy one, but soon turns out to be my worst nightmare back in november 2007. i bought my first car a 2007 nissan xterra from avondale nissan brand new which is now paid off. it was a very nice vehicle, had really small issues with normal wear and tear and normal maintenance which i kept up on myself. right now i'm attending asu for premed and i need my vehicle to get to school. the issue started when i was driving on the highway, all of sudden i heard a noise and the back end shuddered as if i was driving over rumble strips. i took it in on my next oil change to discover that the transmission fluid had leaked into the coolant, then i had the radiator replaced, then a couple months later my engine light came on and the same issue which i was previously having with the my transmission fluid leaking into the coolant began again. in addition to that incident, i was told from numerous dealerships including nissan that the radiator was damaged and now the transmission was also damage. i then started googling the problem and to my surprise to find out that so many other nissan owners were experiencing the same problem. this horrified me when i went to the dealership where i purchased it new in 2007. the service advisor in the service department told me this is a terrible problem because nissan is aware of this horrible design flaw on nissan's part and they're not doing anything to help their customers, he said that nissan is not going to do a recall at all its just a defect. he also stated that to fix the transmission and get another radiator would cost $500 for the radiator and $5155 for transmission not including tax or labor. i will never in my life ever buy a nissan again nor would i recommend someone to purchase it! i'm not getting any answers from them they are fully aware of this unsafe defect. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *kb

I have a 2007 xterra with 42k. i filled it at the gas station and noticed right after leaving the station that the gauge still said a quarter of a tank. so i pulled over and turn off the engine and then restarted it the service engine soon light was on. as i were driving down the road the gauge slowly started rising to the full mark. my car didn't pass state registration with the ses on. *kb

P0463 fuel level sensor issue on my nissan xterra 2007. my automobile ran out of fuel though tank should of have approx 3 gallons left. this resulted in towing / fuel expenses and service station code reset costs. *tr

Noticed that the vehicle was shifting hard especially in overdrive. soon after the vehicle overheated on 4/4/11. added coolant to get to garage. upon inspection found that there was coolant in the transmission. had it towed to the dealer and they confirmed that there was a crack in the transmission cooler and it put coolant into the transmission. the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced at a cost of $7400. i called the dealer i purchased the vehicle from and they told me there was nothing they could do for me it was a nissan issue. called nissan customer support filed a complaint. after reviewing my complaint they told me there was nothing they could do for me. searched on line and found that there are many nissan's from 2005 -2007 with this failure. nissan is ignoring the issue. contacted the attorney general's office and they are investigating. the vehicle is currently at a nissan dealership and has been since 4/5/11. we feel that the vehicle is unsafe to drive. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan xterra. the contact stated that the vehicle would not start. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the fuel pump would need to be replaced. the fuel pump was replaced. the contact was then told that the vehicle was also running roughly and the intelligent power distribution module was replaced. the failure did not recur. the failure mileage was 93,348 and the current mileage was 94,800. updated 03/15/11 *bf updated 1/5/12 *cn

I have a 2007 nissan xterra brought used @ carmax of white marsh md. i have had the car for 3yrs now and have had its regular check and routine oil change. in november the car started with this strange and load noise. i had new tierd replaced and took it back to the place to see if that was the problem, after persistence and taking the car back because it would skip and pull. the autoshop did a diagnostic testing. it was discovered that the radiator fluid was leaking into the transmission causing the car to loose some power along with the header not working either. i called nissan and told them the problem. well they sent me a letter telling me about an internal memo they had regarding this same issue. i was advised to take it to a nissan dealer to see if in fact that was the case. i did and it was i spoke to someone in their consumer affairs department who explained that because my car was over the extended warranty amount that hey had increased it to i would have to pay a deductible out of pocket.... here is my major problem the warranty was extended to 80,000 miles my car has 93,000 mile. they will replace the radiator if i pay a deductible od $1000.00.. why should i pay for a manufacture error.? please someone help me i can not afford to drive this car or pay such high deductible. nissan needs to pay for the entire repair.... i have not gotten it fixed because they want me to pay $1000.00. which i do not have. *tr

I have a 2007 nissan xterra. the problem i have is with the fuel gauge sensor. it started about a year ago and the check engine light comes on and off randomly. not to mention that when i fill up my vehicle the fuel gauge will not sense that its full. it will take a long time or even bottom out showing the light that its empty. i feel that this is very unusual and hard to tell what is wrong with the vehicle. i have been told that it has happen to many other nissan vehicles. *kb

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan xterra. while driving at approximately 55 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. the fuel level gauge dropped from three quarters full to indicate there was only one quarter full. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the failure mileage was 43,000 and the current mileage was 45,000.

Faulty fuel gauge and check engine light on the 2007 nissan xterra. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan xterra. the contact was driving approximately 35-40 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle and it was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. the dealer made repairs to the vehicle however, the contact stated that the vehicle was in worse condition after repairs. the steering wheel was extremely loose, the fuel level gauge was not operating, the tire pressure warning gauge indicator remained illuminated and occasionally, the vehicle would fail to start. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer but was not repaired. the contact stated that there were several recalls repairs made to the vehicle but he was not sure which recall repairs were performed. the failure persisted and the vehicle was not further repaired. the failure mileage was 29,000 and the current mileage was 63,700.

Vdc and slip light come on together at random start up times and will stay on until the motor is turned off. after i turn the motor off, the next time it is turned on just the vdc light will be on. eventually this will turn off when driving. this has been happening since i bought my 2007 nissan xterra and i have taken it in to be fixed twice. both times a sensor was adjusted, but did not fix the problem. now that it is out of warranty, the dealership tells me it will cost $1000 to fix?!?! *tr

From the day 1 i purchased this vehicle water is dropping from ac on a passenger side. dealer tried to repair, even changed mats. did not help. there is a bad smell inside the vehicle if i keep it locked after using ac. *tr
