Nissan recall -i was never notified about the initial air bag recall on 5/23/17 recall #16v-349. they notified me this week of the recent issue #17v-449, but they're not offering to remedy it until spring of 2018. does that qualify as the "timely manner" stated on this site? or would i possibly have ground to request reimbursement and turn the vehicle in? i worry about driving the car that long, and questioned whether that fell under the laws guidelines. it just seems like an issue that they didn't notify me last year when the first recall happened. thanks for your time. Takata recall i was contacted about this recall by the dealership where the car was purchased approximately 1 1/2 months ago (september 2017). i was told then that the recalled airbag would not be resolved until sometime in the spring of 2018 roughly placing the needed recall 6 months after the recall was announced. an offer of a loaner car was made but the question then was, "what was i supposed to do with the affected vehicle?" i was told to leave it sit in my garage until the replacement could be made. i don't think 6 months difference between a recall notice and the actual replacement is appropriate even if a loaner car was offered. the replacement should be completed in a more timely fashion. what options do i have?

Takata recall - i found out about the driver side airbag recall on august 10th from social media and called my dealership on august 12th (ferman nissan in tampa, fl) expressing my concern about the recall and asked for it to be repaired. i was told that repairs were not available at the time, nor did they expect them to become available until mid 2018. i expressed my discomfort at driving around in a potentially fatal vehicle and requested a loaner vehicle until my car was repaired. i was denied a loaner vehicle from the dealership, and was told to contact corporate about it. i did, and received an email on august 22nd denying me a loaner vehicle, and was told to contact my dealership. i don't feel safe driving my vehicle every day, but have no other choice.
Takata recall - i received an interim owner notification-safety recall from nissan re: the airbag recall. that notification states that nissan anticipates the replacement part(s) to become available in the spring of 2018 and i had to wait for a second notice when the part becomes available. i called the dealership immediately and they aren't even starting a parts waiting list or scheduling appts until the spring of 2018 and that no alternative parts (i.e. new steering wheel with out the takata airbag) were available. this is my only vehicle and i use it to transport my special needs toddler (4 ada diagnoses) to her special needs school. i've been renting a car or hitching a ride to provide her transportation. she already has multiple disabilities and we shouldn't be left no option other than to run the risk of additional injury to her. we live in a rural area and have had to cut our food budget in order to pay for the rental to get her to special school. waiting until spring of 2018 to start a part(s) and service waiting list is unacceptable. i've just received the notice re: chapter 11 bankruptcy, so we missed the ppic deadline before we knew there was one. now the restitution fund deadline is the end of nov but those claim forms are not available on the tkrestructuring.com website. there has to be a legal way, for takata to provide a rental car or temp replacement so our family is sacrificing basic needs in order for me to get her safely to school and we will not be able to continue this expense until sometime in the vague spring 2018. i've been to the

Takata recall: (nhtsa recall 17v-449)the referenced recall notice dates july 21, 2017 which in part startes "....may result....or death". the undated interim owner notification received a couple of days ago states nissan is awaiting parts to remedy by spring 2018. this is approximately 6 months (!) from this date and barring anything else my car may only then be safe again for me as driver (senior citizen) . i am not ok with the time frame, are you?
Takata recall and spring coil recall i purchased/financed my nissan versa car this year 2017 around february. sometime in july 2017 i received a letter informing me of the takata recall for the air bag inflator hazard and to contact the nearest nissan dealer for further instructions. i contacted them here in monroe michigan gave them my vin number and they then informed me that they were aware of the recall & also informed me of a second recall of a spring coal recall was a recall before i purchased the car and was not informed of it also, they then proceeded to tell me that at that time they did not have any loaner vehicles available & that they can place me on a waitlist or that i could call around to different dealerships to see if they had any available. they stated that they only had 4 loaner vehicles on there lot & that they were using them only for their customers & they would come first before anyone else. i called three other dealerships they all put me on the waiting list with no response back & several attempts inquiring about the loaner vehicle. i have not driven the car since july up until the date, while i had been driving prior to july i had had several problems with the suspension on the car, had the car services twice at the dealership i purchased the vehicle from with no solution to the problem when i'm driving the car you can smell a tire burning smell & they said it was ok to drive. i thought otherwise so i completely stop driving the car still payed the carnote monthly & car insurance waiting on the loaner vehicle. because of this i have almost lost my job, missed worked & had to car pool my kid's & i back & forth to school & work. i talked to the nissan corporation they investigated it & informd me that they would not be able to reimburse me & still proceeded to keep me on the waitlist i have recently given the car back requesting for a refund.

This is in regard to the takada recall. (faulty air bags)
Passenger air bag recall was fixed but air bag light is still blinking. dealer says problem is now with driver side. dealer says we must pay to have it analyzed and then pay for what ever is wrong with it. to me an airbag is an airbag no matter what side. tv news shows driver side airbags blowing up. it should be a recall as well.
I was driving my versa like always getting back home and then the air bag signal appear on my dash without any reason
Airbag. seat belt light and unknown or other
Awaiting repair of the takata passenger-side airbag, i noticed on the nhtsa website that nissan had published a fix for the issue. i drove to my local dealership this morning to start the repair process but i'm told that there's no recall on my vehicle (despite proof that i'm in the first of three groups listed for dealers). so i'm more aware of nissan's documented recall than nissan itself?
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2011 nissan versa. the contact stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule a repair appointment for an unknown air bag recall. the dealer (western avenue nissan, 7410 s western ave, chicago, il 60636, 773-776-8200) indicated that the part may become available by mid-spring of 2018. the dealer also stated that the contact waited too long to request the approval of a loaner vehicle from the manufacturer. the manufacturer stated that they expedited shipping the part to the dealer months ago; however, no part was available when the contact called before and after the spring of 2018. the air bag recall repair was completed months after the contact waited for the part. shortly after the dealer's recall repair, the air bag indicator illuminated. the contact stated that he would take the vehicle back to the dealer for further diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was contacted again to address the dealer's repairs. the vin, failure mileage, and recall information were unknown.
My husband was exiting the indiana toll road on the ramp to pay tolls. as he was driving his air concentrator fell. when he reached for the concentrator he ran off the ramp, hit a sign, then bounced back hitting another vehicle. the airbags did not deploy yet he hit hard enough that the seatbelts left very clear bruising, his shoulder was causing pain as well as his lower back which received compression fractures from the belt. he as taken to the area hospital by ambulance and is in treatment as of today. our concern is the fact that the airbags did not deploy even though the force of the crash completely shattered the windshield and the front and rear ends of the car were badly damaged causing the versa to be a total loss.
Tl* the contact owned a 2011 nissan versa. while driving approximately 40 mph, a burning odor was present inside the vehicle. moments later, the front driver side air bag abruptly deployed without warning or impact. the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. the driver suffered injuries to the chest, which required medical attention. the vehicle was destroyed. the manufacturer was not notified. a police report was filed. the failure mileage was 71,241.
Takata recall: i was not informed about this recall until a bare mention in january, 8 months into the recall. since repair is not available, it requires me to keep front passenger seat empty, and i was not told this. the recall has been extant for a year, i cannot use the front seat, and no repair is still available. this makes my car significantly less useful for my family.

Just driving one day and airbag light comes on, flashing on and off. the dealer tells me that the spiral cable assembly, caused from pinched wires in steering column went out and driver's side airbag will not work. took the car to the dealer yesterday and will have to pay for repair. i saw a fb post that nhtsa is investigating that problem on 2012 versa. are there any recalls and does it include 2011 versa? any suggestions?

Takata recall manufacturer has no answer as to when i will be able to use 100% of my car. i did not purchase a 3 passenger car, i bought the car for use by 4 passengers. in may, i was told early summer. now at the end of september they are saying "sometime in the fall of 2016". if i cannot safely use 25% of my car for my family, then nissan should provide another vehicle for our use or some sort of compensation. i called nissan again today, 09/26/2016 and still cannot get an answer as to availability of the recall remedy.
Takata recall i received a recall notice informing me that in extreme humidity, i live in south louisiana, the airbag could rupture and cause metal fragments to strike "occupants " in vehicle resulting in injury or death. no parts are available at this time to repair airbag. you cannot assure me that this vehicle is safe to drive under any circumstance. like other manufacturers are already doing, i feel that nissan should also provide, at no charge to customer, comparable transportation until vehicle can be repaired. i was denied that courtesy and feel that nissan is putting money ahead of safety. please tell me what i need to do to get satisfactory recourse.

On september 8, 2016, i was driving and all of a sudden the car's steering violently pulled to the right and when i tried to correct it, the car then turned all of the way to the left, causing the car to roll over several times. although i had my seat belt on, the pre-tensioners didn't fire to keep me from moving around and hitting my head. none of the airbags went off either, not even the ones on the driver's side curtain where the car was damaged. afterwards, i went to the doctor and a chiropractor because i hurt my back, neck and my head. i also got a lawyer because i had not done anything wrong while driving. the steering problem just came out of nowhere. nissan, takata, tkh and my lawyer inspected the car in march and found that none of the air bags went off, the seat belt pre-tensioners didn't activate, the car's vehicle speed sensor had a fault code, the car's intake air temperature sensor had a fault code and nissan's engineer that was there was unable to access the power steering module with his machine. next, we found out that the electronic power steering system can shut down due to excessive steering at slow speeds. that is bad because nissan had a technical service bulletin that said that the car can pull to one side even when aligned based on nissan's requirements. this means that the reason people have had steering problems is because of the car's design, nissan's alignment requirements and the car needing to be aligned differently. also the intake air temperature sensor can cause a car to surge and sputter, this can be why people have had problems with acceleration. there is no reason why the seat belt pretensioners didn't protect me. i also believe that the speedometer recall may be due to the vehicle speed sensor problem. my car was totaled and these things need to be investigated.
Drove for several years having no idea my life (and family/friends) was at risk. far, far worse than that...during 2016-2017 i drove the vehicle while pregnant!!!!! following that in 2017, i drove with my newborn child in the car and my husband!!!! i cannot begin to describe the level of anxiety and horror i feel having learned of this recall after my child was born. i am in absolute shock at the thought of what might have happened!!! although the dealer has given me a loaner free of charge until the part is replaced, i have no where to house my vehicle. i do not have a garage or private driveway. the car is parked on a public street for what could be maybe six months?! this includes being parked over wintertime. i am concerned about the damage to the monetary and functional value of my vehicle as it sits seemingly endlessly. moreover, i am much too frightened to even consider getting into the car to start the engine or move it around during this period. however, the engine will need to be started and the car will need to be moved. but, that is a true quandary.
