We have classified the 115 complaints from 2010 Nissan Versa about AIR BAGS into the following categories.
I have contacted 3 different nissan dealers in fresno, clovis, merced and none of them no anything about the recall notice i received. what's more ridiculous is it cannot be fixed until spring of 2018! this is a defect with the driver side airbag that can cause death. i need to be in a rental care until this can be fixed. notice received in mail 9/21/17.
Air bags can explode due to humidity and faulty parts
Takata recall . i received the notice weeks ago and contacted the dealership ( ford in auburn) and they directed me to the nissan dealership, i contacted them and emailed my concern about driving and have not heard a word since.the airbag is faulty and i drive my daughters in my vehicle daily with concern since receipt of possible death related exploding air bag.
Airbag keeps flashing and i see that there is a recall in place for this already, but no dealership has contacted me regarding this at all.

Takata recall. i received my first notice nhtsa recall 16v349 early in 2017. it was a preliminary letter to advise of the problem with the defective airbags and nissan was waiting for parts to fix the vehicles. then i got a second letter and it instructed me to call my local nissan dealer and have the car serviced. i took my car in today, 8/15/17 and after waiting for two hours, was told they would not service just the passenger airbag and that i have to wait until 2018 when they get the other part. knowing the danger here, i want to have the passenger airbag fixed immediately! if something tragic were to happen, nissan would be responsible and liable since you put me on notice and then don't correct the problem. i would like to be contacted immediately.

Takata recall: i've been trying to get a loaner vehicle and none of the nissan dealerships in central florida or even in south florida have rentals. i escalated my case to the consumers affairs dpt at nissan corp and they have not helped at all. they can't offer any loaners, no rentals. they are only offering to "review" any receipts i may have for rentals, but they will not be guaranteed to be reimbursed. dealerships do not know what is going on. some employees said parts will be here in weeks, but know i know parts will not arrive until spring 2018. i am moving and they won't even pay for my car to be transported from central florida to south florida. nissan consumer's affair dpt. said they won't cover those costs. they are offering no help to have safe cars on the road, much less to protect drivers lives. nissan corp., responded "they can't dictate what dealerships can or not do because they are independently owned" when i asked why they are not collaborating with dealerships to provide more rentals to costumers affected by the takata recalls. i've been dealing with this situation for weeks. i don't know what else to do.

Takata airbags: the passenger airbag is not working properly. it comes on when nobody is in the passenger seat and it goes off when someone over the weight capacity sits. it's suppose to come on when it recognizes weight over 120 lbs, but it does not; however when i am driving down the road (alone), all of a sudden it just pops on (when nobody is in the passenger seat. i am so afraid for myself and that of those riding with me. this is a "clear and present danger", this takata airbag issue needs to be finally fixed and soon! i have taken my vehicle in twice for the same recall. first time, i was told a temporary part was put in until the permanent one came from the manufacturer (that was earlier this year), then i received a call from this same dealership that the permanent part was in. so i took it back in july for it to be installed and yet, that part has been recalled also. the dealership tells me "they are waiting on the manufacturer for the replacement part that will finally fix this issue with the takata inflator airbag issue. meanwhile and as i wait, i am putting myself in danger driving the car and those who ride with me. this inflator issue needs to be fixed and soon! i need help getting the proper resolution that will remedy this situation. the manufacturer need to speed up the process and make this a priority to get resolved as i have two nissan versa's and both have the same takata inflator issues under the recall. my other car is a 2008 nissan versa also needing the permanent part to fix it's inflator issue.
Takata recall - pending parts availability for replacement. the driver's side airbag needs to be replaced however nissan indicates the parts will not be available until first or second quarter of 2018. the manufacturer and the dealer have offered no assistance with a loaner. nissan indicated we can submit an expense for a rental car, but there is no guarantee it will be reimbursed. this is completely unacceptable.

The recall(16v-349) on the passenger air-bag has occurred over six months ago, and i have not received an invitation to repair letter as of 10 january 2017. it is my opinion that this is to long a time period for waiting for a repair to the passenger air-bag. sincerely lost in the shuffle. *tr

Nissan issued a recall nhtsa recall 16v-349 received by me 7/26/16 wherein they stated that "the front passenger air bag inflator housing could rupture and deploy abnormally resulting in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death." nissan further advised "do not allow passengers to ride in the passenger seat", which has caused a lengthy undue hardship on versa owners. when i called on 8/24/16, diana informed me the part would be in by the end of september or beginning of october. that did not happen. i then called again on 10/28/16, when melodie informed me that the parts would not be in until january 2017. my request for a nissan rental was refused, which was not right considering the inconvenience i have experienced, not using my car to its fullest capacity and always with the fear of flying fragments should the housing rupture. my call to sheila in the consumer affairs dept. on 11/19/16 yielded the exact result as before- the parts would not be in until january 2016. nissan needs to complete the necessary repairs as soon as possible or provide the affected owners with car rentals. it is long overdue.

We received a recall letter for inflator replacement in july 2016. as of january 2017 nissan states they do not have the parts to remedy the affected vehicles. i have called consumer affairs department with nissan numerous times and all they can say is the parts are not available. their letter states if the passenger air bag inflator ruptures, it may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death. i am not aware if this is a takata recall, for the letter did not indicate so. this recall letter is now over 6 months old and nissan still does not have the parts. this is very frustrating. nissan does not seem to care about the automobiles that they have already sold to their customers.
Takata recall. nissan has not remedied this issue in a timely manner. i was told the matter would be handled in 2016 and it has not. it has been more than sixty days since i was notified of the recall and i have not been able to drive my car with a passenger, which is a tremendous inconvenience.

Takata recall - my chief complaint is that i have so many recall notices for both my nissan vehicles this one went unnoticed for several weeks. i live in a high humidity area so i assume we are at risk. the recall notice should have included a voucher for a rental. this should be the law. i think it is absurd that i have a car that seats 4-5, but now i can only ride 3. we carpool several girls to school, so this has been a major inconvenience. the nissan corporation and the dealer (bill hood) agreed to provide a rental. then they argued (through me) about who was going to pay for it. several weeks went by as they bickered. finally they could not agree to pay for a rental said "never mind." i was appalled at the delay, the games they played, then the final decision to not supply a rental after they promised they would. i feel this was a tactic to delay things until they got the parts "at the end of september". yet here we are in november with no fix in sight. this has been quite a hardship due to our carpool situation. i also think it is rediculous that the info about "death or serious injury" was not in bold print on the card, like other info was. when i mentioned this to the nissan rep (summer was her name), she said "the card says what?" she had no clue of what the recall card stated. nissan's help, or lack there of, was laughable. please help us get a rental (paid for by the offending company or dealer) or the parts we need. i paid for a car that seats 4. thanks!
