Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2012 Nissan Rogue

2012 nissan rogue has approximately 113,000 miles and transmission is completely broken. confirmed the need for a new transmission by aamco.

After having the car for a few months in jan 2018 the engine light came on and the dealer said the car needed a new transmission. on dec 6th, 2018 i paid $3667.16 for a new transmission. it was not covered under a warranty due to the miles i drive. now in nov of 2019. when at traffic i step on the gas and the car will not go. its a matter of time before i get rear-ended at a light. asf 11/29/19 this has happened at least 10 times and counting. i shut the car off the restart and the cargoes the transmission is not even a year old and is giving me a problem.

I have been driving my car to work and school, but it will not accelerate when i need to. it will accelerate 3 or 4 seconds after pushing the gas. sometimes it will not accelerate even after pushing the gas for 10 seconds.

Cvt; bought used; had a transmission which had overheated in excess of 50 times per the dealer. transmission fluid exchange performed after vehicle purchase and burned up within two weeks. cvt was diagnosed and was replaced at a cost of 5698 dollars. nissan failed to place an oil cooler on the 2012 nissan transmissions which has lead to these transmissions experiencing failure due to overheating. nissan refuses to recall the rogue for placement of an oil cooler which would prevent future problems such as the one i have had. the car lost power going west on a major highway and was placed in a position where an accident could have happened due to the speed of other cars. the transmission fluid burnt up and the differential was dysfunctional and making noises while in motion.

In november 2017, while driving in one of the passing lanes on qew driving from buffalo, ny to toronto, canada, at appx 70 mph, the car started losing power and speed. the rpm started revving alot but the car speed decreased rapidly. the cars behind me almost rear ended me at this speed. i was on a 4 lane thruway and it was difficult to pull to the right side of the road to the shoulder because all of the cars were speeding around me. quite frankly, it was a terrifying situation to be in as semi trucks and other cars going 70 - 80+ mph were speeding up behind you as your vehicle lost power. i pulled to the side of the road and let the car rest for about 1/2 hour then started to drive again. i drove the next 30 miles at appx 35-40 mph with my 4 way flashers on. the car did eventually get back to speed and seem to drive normal. mileage was appx 125,000- 130,000. this happened a second time in march 2019. i drove appx 65 miles on country roads in a rural area to pick up my elderly mother to take her to the hospital. the car suddenly lost power. the rpm's were going crazy, the car lost power. after about 20 minutes, the car eventually got back to speed again. i was afraid to drive her to the hospital in my car and fortunately a neighbor let me use their car to transport my mom to the hospital. the next day i went to drive my car the 75 miles back home and it drove okay but i was very worried i would not make it home. mileage was appx 145,000. this happened a 3rd time august of 2019 while traveling wb on the nys i-90 thruway. again, i was in the passing lane traveling about 70 mph when the rpm's started going crazy and the car lost power. this time a semi truck was behind me and quickly closing in on my car. again, it was tough to get to the right side of the road to get out of fast moving traffic. mileage appx 160,000. ...

I have had nothing but issues lately with my transmission and now,it's sitting in a parking lot with me having to leave it there as it lost its power to even move!! i had service completed & have always kept this vehicle up and even had the transmission fluid checked this time and now that it's not drivable,i did a little research on car complaints.com and edwards.com and see so many complaints,it's sickening. this vehicle is a 2012!!

My cars transmission is making a weird sound when i turn it in and while me driving it. i was driving on the highway at about 60 mph when suddenly the acceleration dropped down to 20-25 mph in traffic with other cars speeding toward me but when i try and accelerate, the rpm go up, but nothing happens. this is a serious safety issue, as my transmission failed in the middle of traffic, with no warning putting myself, my family and others at the highway in grave danger. i went to mechanics they told me that i have a cvt transmission problem and that nissan is fully aware of the problem, this should be a recall this problem is putting people's lives at risk.

Continuously variable transmission)cvt failed for the second time since purchasing the vehicle brand new. i was driving on an interstate highway when my engine suddenly lost power. the engine rpms shot up but my car started slowing down. i took the car to a nearby nissan dealer to be inspected. the service person there said the cvt fluid was overheating causing the transmission to basically start slipping. he couldn't tell me why the cvt fluid was overheating but he said he could install an external transmission cooler (for $1300) that nissan made for the vehicle that may alleviate the problem or replace the cvt. i had them install the cooler and the problem went away. obviously nissan knows there's a problem with their cvts and they designed a solution that they are making customers pay for to have their vehicles returned to a drivable condition. the sudden loss of power could be a safety problem if it happened during highway rush hour traffic. i was on an 8-lane interstate in texas when it happened to me but luckily it wasn't rush hour and i was able to move all the way over to the right lane and take an exit off the highway.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated without warning. the vehicle was taken to nissan of lawton (580-353-2244, located at 201 w gore blvd, lawton, ok 73501) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

The cvt transmission failed at 113,000 miles while we were driving on the freeway which resulted in us almost getting into multiple accidents. we had gotten the engine serviced every 3,000 miles for the past five years so the failure was not due to neglect.

Labor day last year, we were driving down an old rural road, just got done passing a car and then our rogue sounded like it revving the engine, then next thing we know it died at 65 mph with only 102,000 miles on it. $1000 engine later we fixed it. now, last week on my way to work, trying to get up to 60 mph on highway and it revs up to 4 grand and will not shift. we limp it home. thought needed tranny fluid so we add some. that friday we take on a 2 1/2 road trip, we had to slow down to 40 mph for construction and then accelerate when construction was done. the car would not accelerate it revved up to 4 grand again. when we tried to get up a hill, on a freeway mind you, we had the gas pedal pegged and it climbed the hill at 20 mph. this was on a freeway very dangerous!! we limped it to a gas station and parked for awhile to get it cooled down. when to move it and absolutely no acceleration it would not move. nissan she recall this whole [xxx] car and give us our money back. the cvt is junk and they have recalled prior years. 2012 and newer need to be recalled as well. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

My cars transmission is making a weird raining sound when i turn it in and drive it, i know there is a recall for nissan cars for the cvt transmission wondering if mine is covered.

I was hearing a strange noise when i would take my foot off the excelerator i would hear any loud fluttering sound. brought it into nissan service. i was told it was the front differential case. as a researched i found that this is a common problem in my vehicle that ended up as a dangerous problem. although mine was caught before i had a serious accident they cost for a repair is over $3500. if this is a common problem why is nissan still putting these cars on the road with this problem?

This happened backing onto a public street. the vehicle wouldn't move in a continuous movement forward or backward. the vehicle moved as though the transmission was slipping.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the failure occurred intermittently. the vehicle was towed to rockland nissan (608 ny-303, blauvelt, ny 10913, (845) 358-6700) where it was diagnosed that the continuously variable transmission needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000. the vin was unavailable.

While traveling on the interstate between 70-80mph my vehicle dropped to 60mph and would not accelerate past 60mph, then when pulling off an exit scared it wouldn't go past 20mph. this put my son and i's safety at serious risk with having no control over acceleration. i got to a mechanic which did a diagnostic and told me it was torque converter with transmission. the car only has 65k miles. this is insane to have these issues and clearly this needs to be a recall. i fortunately purchased a transmission warranty. waiting to see what the total damage is. this should absolutely be a safety recall.

When running make a big raddling noise and gets loud when driving. so stopped driving it

Nissan installed defective cvt transmissions in several vehicles between 2010-2016. my 2012 nissan rogue is included in that. i am now being told that i need a new transmission, and nissan is refusing to replace. it. my vehicle starts fine, but the transmission has failed. after looking online, i've found numerous other complaints of the same issue, and i feel there needs to be a further investigation, and recall on this cvt transmission. the vehicle starts, but when you try and accelerate, the rpms go up, but nothing happens, then it will screech and lurch forward. i had to have it towed to the dealership, who confirmed that it was a problem with the transmission. the salesperson at the dealership advised me that nissan was aware of the problem with the older cvt transmissions, and have fixed it in the new 2019 models. this is a serious safety issue, as my transmission failed in the middle of traffic, with no warning. please see attached links for several other complaints, and class action lawsuits, involving nissan's cvt transmission. https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2017/nissan-transmission-cvt-class-action-lawsuit.shtml https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2017/nissan-sentra-transmission-lawsuit-cvt.shtml https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=nissan+cvt+transmission+recall&view=detail&mid=9601ad52e8942082ed5e9601ad52e8942082ed5e&form=vire https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=nissan+cvt+transmission+recall&&view=detail&mid=7ca24c6681d6cb4d8e857ca24c6681d6cb4d8e85&&form=vdrvrv https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=nissan+cvt+transmission+recall&&view=detail&mid=f6f3872811235235f1dcf6f3872811235235f1dc&&form=vdrvrv information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving on the highway at about 60 mph when suddenly the acceleration dropped down to 10-20 mph in traffic with other cars speeding toward me. i tried to accelerate but could not -- putting myself and fellow motorists in grave danger. i could barely make the car go 10 to 20 mph to make it to an off ramp to try to get to safety. my 2012 nissan rogue transmission failed. there is a repeated history of transmission failure by nissans including the rogue. nissan is aware of the problem and extended warranty to cover some years and models for this problem. they have not covered others yet there are repeated complaints. nissan is fully aware of the problem yet has put myself and other motorists at risk. i called the nearest nissan repair service center to tell them a tow truck would be brining my nissan there. i barely started to explain what happened and immediately the service center person said he knew what it was the transmission and asked for my vin so he could see if it was covered by the extra warranty nissan granted some models. it did not. it will cost $5,400 to replace transmission and complete repairs which i will ask the service center to complete. however, a recall should be placed on 2012 nissan rogues for this issue. this problem is putting people's lives at risk.

Without prior warning, including absence of dashboard warning/trouble lights, the car with ~86k miles lost power while accelerating through a traffic light per "limp mode" response to transmission (cvt) failure.

Transmission failed after only 88000 miles on a city street

This car is notorious for cvt transmission problems. nissan has already extended warranties for rogues prior to 2010, but of course mine is a newer 2012 model. on multiple occasions when attempting to accelerate, the car has basically shut off. once, after getting off the ramp from 288 to hull street, i attempted to accelerate up a slight hill and the car just would not go to the point where i had my foot floored and nothing. i let off, was able to pull to the side of the road where it shook then shut off. i had the car towed to a local repair shop where they weren't able to find anything wrong. just today, i was driving 65 down the highway and attempted to accelerate just to get infront of another car to prepare for the upcoming exit and mid pushing down on the gas pedal... it just stops going. i was luckily able to get into the right lane again and pull over to the car shakes then shuts off. i let it sit for about 15 minutes, and was able to start it back up and go without seemingly without a problem again. this is my family vehicle. i am afraid this is going to happen to me one day in major traffic and cause an incident possibly hurting me, my family or others. i have read many forums with hundreds of people having this same issue. something really needs to be done about it from nissan. these cars are not safe to drive, but i am basically stuck in a car loan i can't get out of. i have no choice.

In 2016 i purchased a 2012 nissan rogue from a dealership with 80,000 miles. after three years (107,000 miles)the transmission blew out. my wife was driving on to the ramp of i85 in ga, vehicle in motion, when the transmission failed. i contacted nissan to resolve this issue as they told me that unless it showed neglect on my behalf, they would they be willing to help. they explained to me to bring the rogue to he nearest dealership to do a diagnostics test. when i went to turn on the car to take to dealership, the car would not drive. the car was only able to drive in reverse. i had to call a tow truck to tow it to the dealership. after about a week of the vehicle sitting in the nissan dealership, nissan consumer affairs contacted me back as they made a decision to deny helping me. this is completely unacceptable as the car is only 6 years old. i have researched the history of nissan rogue and it seems that they have had issues with this in the past. they informed me that my car was no longer under warranty and the total expense would be my duty. this car is not safe to drive. i was informed by nissan consumer affairs to file a complaint as to explain what happened. i know that this has been a problem with nissan in the past years. nissan should be responsible for making this car is to drive and built to last. nissan should stand behind their product.

The vehicle at 76k miles started to experience slipping while driving and the check engine light came on. the car additionally struggled to obtain speed when starting from idle, stopped at red lights, stop signs, etc. and would jolt forwarded. the car sent back a p0700 code for transmission issues with additional codes for shifting errors. after taking it to two mechanics and being 2 years outside of the models with extended 10 year warranties and 1 year outside of the 5 year warranty i have to pay 4500.00 for a new transmission out of pocket. the cvt problems after 2010 models are clearly not fix and the vehicle is unsafe to drive with myself or my family. the fact there is not an extended warranty on newer models or a recall on the transmissions in unacceptable. this very easily could have ended in an accident or injury.

I own a 2012 nissan rogue. i purchased it used in 2015 with approximately 60,000 miles on it. in about april of 2018 i started experiencing the car not accelerating after driving on the expressway. i would be driving 65-75 mph and suddenly the car would slow down and not accelerate. this is in heavy traffic mind you. i would pull over and sit for about 15-20 minutes. after that time i would restart the car and the car would drive as if nothing happened. i would experience this each time i would get on the expressway after driving for about 50-60 minutes. i took it to my mechanic and he told me the transmission was failing. i could not get another car due to the fact that i am in the middle of paying for this car and owe too much to trade it. in july 2018 i did not have to travel the expressway as much. i thought that i could continue to drive the car thinking if i didn't travel that far i may be ok until i get the car paid down some more. to my surprise that just did not happen. in august 2018 i started hearing a knocking sound and took it back to the mechanic to find out that the drive shaft was bad. some of his customers brought their nissan rogue's to him with the same problem. the problem is very expensive to fix and a used part may not be the answer due to the fact that all of the rogue's are having the same problem. well, at this point i am without transportation. the knocking turned into a loud noise coming from the bottom of the car, as if everything underneath was on the verge of falling off. i cannot drive the car and had to have it towed to my home because the mechanic cannot find a suitable used part to replace the problem and i cannot afford to have the problem fixed with a new part. so i also am paying for a car that i cannot drive. nissan really needs to do something about this problem, as it is a defect from the manufacturer.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 20 mph. in addition, the malfunction indicator illuminated and remained lit. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission valve body assembly needed to be replaced. the failure recurred several times. the contact called central toyota at 870-268-5418 (located at 3305 stadium blvd, jonesboro, ar 72404) and was informed to bring the vehicle to their facility. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. the contact heard a squeaky noise and felt a vibration emerging from the engine compartment while driving at an unknown speed. ganley's mayfield nissan (6060 mayfield road, mayfield heights, oh 44124) diagnosed that the continuously variable transmission failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000. *dt updated 10/5/18*jb

Cvt whining noise (high frequency) generated often during accel from 10 to 40 mph. the issue started a couple of months ago. the dealer diagnosed it on jul 23, 2018 and told me entire cvt needs to be replaced. they said cvt fluids overheated and damaged cvt chain. no warning light or some sort of engine light came on. also they said cvt cooling kit needs to be installed which didn't exist in the vehicle in the first place. lots of cvt issues reported from nissan vehicles. it is 2012 rogue and 82900 miles. it is tool early for transmission to fail. i think this is major design defect or flaw.

I'm just so upset with this vehicle. when you drive for about an hour the truck won't go past 70. it starts to slow down and you can't get any speed. i was going to wv and it started messing up i couldn't even pull the hill. it would just go so slow, couldn't get in another lane. it was so scary thought i was gonna get hit. the car always has an whinning noise when your on the road over 30 minutes. you have to cut the truck off, let it sit a while to get the speed to come back up. the next day i was on my way to the beach and it would not go past 20mph. mash the gas to the floor and it would just make noise. other than that i like the truck. every time i take it to the dealership they are trying to charge me almost 1,000 dollars for something that they knew about before they sold these cars to the consumers. nissan need to recall these cars , they are very dangerous especially if your on the highway with babies in the car.

The vehicle was being driven on the highway and the acceleration completely dropped. the car would not go over 20 mph! there was a recall up to 2010 nissan rogue for the cvt transmission but doesn't cover 2012. the error was torque converter clutch solenoid circuit intermittent. the nissan dealership said they don't replace that part and it needs a whole new transmission for $5000. i find it hard to believe other vehicles in 2012 have a recall for the transmission but not the rogue.

On 2/19/14 i purchased a certified pre-owned 2012 nissan rogue with 11,258 miles and a 100,000 mile warranty. i am a single mom with 2 children and have returned to school to make a better life for us. my rogue started losing power when driving, often while in heavy interstate or highway traffic. i will be traveling at 60-75 mph and suddenly, without warning, not be able to go over 40 even with the gas pedal fully depressed. i took it to the dealer on 7/20/18 with 116,225 miles on the odometer. i was informed the valve body assembly, cooler flush kit, evap canister assembly & oil collar assembly need to be replaced. total cost $4,000 and had to pay $130 for this information! the dealer informed me the digital read out indicated my rogue had lost power 36 times! a quick internet search turned up many other owners of nissans with cvt transmissions have experienced the same issue! nissan has extended the warranty for cvt transmissions on models 2010 and older but refuses to acknowledge the issue continues to plague newer models and will not cover the cost of repairs. this is definitely a safety issue and nhtsa needs to open an investigation. yesterday i was almost wiped out when i lost power while turning a corner. my children were in the car! multiple reports have been filed with nhtsa with no action. how many need to lose their lives before this is investigated and nissan is held accountable for faulty cvt transmissions?

While driving highway speed, engine rpm would go up without hitting accelerator, then no matter how much i pushed the accelerator i could not get the car up to speed to pass other vehicles. took vehicle to dealership for evaluation. either need to spend $3000 for a 'transmission fluid cooler' or $4000 for a new transmission.

Airbag malfunction light is on, dealership tells me they don't know what it means, just that it should be replaced. could mean that my airbag will not deploy, could mean that it will deploy randomly. my warranty did not cover it, nissan will not fix it. it is $1300 and i have another huge problem with my car: my transmission is going out for the second time and my car is at 102,000 miles. warranty covered it the first time, just ended in july and i am told that nissan only covers new transmissions for 1 year or 12,000 miles. this car is a lemon. a transmission should not go out twice in 100,000 miles. an airbag malfunction should be covered, this is my safety.

I purchased my 2012 nissan rogue on 6/13/17. it had 63,000 miles on it. on 6/28/18 a year into ownership my cvt transmission went out while on the interstate taking my daughter to her state softball tournament. had it towed to my mechanic an hour away to be told the transmission had to be replaced. after spending $4900 on a new transmission fast forward a year later starting in june of 2019 my 4 year old daughter and i were at a stop sign trying to cross a busy highway after checking the road was clear to go across my vehicle suddenly lost power and wouldn't accelerate so here we sit in the middle of the highway with cars barreling toward us at 65 mph not able to move! my first thought was how am i gonna get myself out and un strap my 4 year old out of her car seat before these cars kill us!! thankful after putting the pedal the floor my vehicle finally crept across the intersection to safety. this has happened 24 times in the last 3 months and the mechanic can't replicate the problem no warning lights at all. he said it's another bad cvt transmission?! how can a year old transmission fail? and how can two cvt transmissions fail in the same vehicle twice?! the answer is it can't unless it's defective i paid $4900 for a transmission that did the same thing a year later after i replaced it! it sits in my driveway not being driven because it's a death trap!! i don't want me or my children killed! nissan come clean before many people are killed due to your defective transmissions!

I was traveling 70 mph on a highway, using cruise, when the engine started racing and the rpm surged. i disengaged the cruise and the rpm's immediately returned to normal. however, as soon as i stepped on the gas, the rpm's again surged. after this happened three or four times, the vehicle would not exceed 60 mph. fortunately, i was able to exit the highway within a short distance. there was a traffic light at the end of the exit, which was red and i stopped. when the light turned green, my car would not initially accelerate or move. after a short time, the car did then start accelerating and i was able to once again drive. i then stopped at the nearest parking lot. my traveling companion proceeded to find an auto shop that was open, as it was about 7:00 at night. they ran a scan and determined there was a failure with my transmission. i was over 50 miles away from home, on my way to a vacation reservation. unfortunately, i had to return home. i was able to drive the car on back roads, traveling about 35-40 mph. since that time i have had a transmission shop and the nissan dealer also confirm there was a problem with the torque converter and the entire transmission would need replaced. the car had a little over 70,000 miles. i find this entirely unacceptable for a 2012 with that number of miles. subsequent research has show that nissan has a history of problems with the cvt transmission. i also found many, many complaints on an array of websites about my particular vehicle having transmission failure at a variety of miles. i also found reports of the transmission failing while traveling at high rates of speed. i did contact nissan's regional consumer affairs. after jumping through their hoops, i was declined any "good will assistance". this was due to the car's mileage being over warranty and no previously documented issues with my personal vehicle's transmission.

Cvt transmission failure. as i was driving on the parkway his car will just slow down to a crawl causing a dangerous driving condition. the car will barely move and many other vehicles have come very close to hitting me due to the slow speed that the car will go. complained to nissan but since car is 11 months past warranty was told they will not help even though this is a know problem with these cars.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. while driving, the vehicle would not accelerate past 25 mph. the contact stated that the vehicle began to shake and the transmission seized. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. serra nissan in birmingham, alabama was made aware of the failure and stated that the continuously variable transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 113,000. the vin was not available.

Bought the car used with 50,000 miles cvt is defective so i had a catastrophic failure of the power train i had it replaced.. i m about to have an another catastrophic failure you paid all that and you are to drive the vehicle. .when you are driving you could hear the transmission making thundering noise and when shut off the car the transmission is faulty . these is the replacement power train and it faulty

Tech publication ntr10-029c for rear differential failure.noise, vibrations, charter when stopping and starting, car drags abit.

I was driving in rush hour traffic, traveling the speed limit (65 mph) when the vehicle began decelerating. the vehicle's speed decreased from 65 mph to 0 mph in less than two minutes. i attempted to accelerate and the rpm indicator advanced; however, the vehicle speed decreased. without any warning or previous problem, the transmission suddenly died right in the middle of the interstate during rush hour. i was in the center driving lane and was traveling with the flow of traffic. thankfully, i was able to maneuver the vehicle out of the traffic onto the side of the interstate, where i was stranded for 2.5 hours. since my vehicle has been disabled, i have conducted research on other nissan vehicles with cvt transmissions that have had similar problems. there are numerous complaints about the same issues with nissan cvt transmissions. moreover, nissan has had similar issues with the cvt transmission for over a decade. despite governmental oversight and the company having to correct defects, nissan continues to manufacture these dangerous vehicles. life and safety should be a priority for innocent buyers and the general public. my local nissan leadership has diagnosed and confirmed my vehicle's problem and concluded that the cvt transmission must be replaced. aside from having a defective transmission, my vehicle is in excellent condition.

Speed limit was 80 miles travel down the high way and the car begin to so down to 5 miles. so i drifted off to the side of the road because a tractor trailer truck was about 6 car links behind me. if this car would have complete stop the truck would have hit the car. i was scared because i never had a vehicle that done this before. i sit along side of the road for about 20 min called my husband because i did not know what was wrong with the car. after 20 mins i restarted the car put it in gear and drive at 60 miles until i got home which was 94 miles. by the time i got home the car was making this strange noise. it sound as if the engine was about to fall out of the car.

Failing cvt (continuously variable transmission) my daughter was driving on the highway at an approx. 65 mph, headed back to college, when her 2012 rogue stopped accelerating while pushing on the gas peddle. the car would not react to stepping on the gas. it was a dangerous situation in heavy traffic, so she pulled to side of the road. when trying to take off again, it just revved as though in neutral. she turned the car off. after turning the car back on, she was able to accelerate very slowly. revving sound continued throughout acceleration. she was able to get to her destination. the car was taken to lithia nissan in eugene, or on april 3, 2018. we live 108 miles from the dealership. as of today, april 18, 2018, the car is still there! the cvt problem was recreated at nissan and we were told a new transmission was required at a cost of $3000. the warranty ended at 60k and the car has just under 65k. i filed a case with nissan usa. for some reason the dealership did not capture the proof of failure information. nissan usa then required the dealership to provide a "video" of the problem occurring. because the dealership has not been able to capture the cvt issue on video, nissan usa closed the case. i asked them not to close the case until there was a resolution. they told me without the video for review, they couldn't do anything. they told me to pay the $3000 for the replacement, or continue to drive the car until it happens again, and get it into a dealership immediately so they document the problem while it's happening! i told them it's unacceptable to require my teenage daughter to drive a car we know is going to fail, but can't determine when or where. that's putting her in danger. research shows the cvt failure is a common problem. transmissions shouldn't go out at 65k! this is our first nissan, and we will never buy another one. recall!

While driving 80 miles per hour on a wyoming interstate, my 2012 nissan rogue shut off the cruise control and would not accelerate even while pushing the gas pedal to the floor. the car would only accelerate to 65 mph and would not reset to normal speeds or acceleration patterns until i pulled off the side of the road and let it cool down for 15-30 minutes. the nissan dealerships in fort collins, colorado and billings, montana said this issue arose in several nissan rogues of different years. nissan fixed 2010 and earlier models on their dime, but have not paid for replacing the transmission coolers with larger coolers for the 2011 or later models. there has not been a recall for the transmission coolers in 2012 nissan rogues up to this point.

Rpms will keep rising while the speed of vehicle and speedometer drops and stalls

I have a cvt transmission problem, this should be a recall. my car should not need a new transmission. aamco is telling me i will need one so i took it to the dealership where i bought it, they ran codes and said nothing was wrong but i needed a over 1200.00 external cooing system and it is under warranty and then i get a call and its not. i took it to there other dealership and the salesperson and mechanic said there was a problem...it started out loosing power and driving down the road thats kinda scary. i know there are other complaints out there about this and i need to know what to do....

Takata recall - with no warning while driving about 50 mph... car lost propulsion ..engine idled but would not catch gear... no engine light nothing... i was in middle of traffic.... i will be getting an assesment this week ... unfortunately i am just starting muvresearch for this cvt system for this vehicle ..and so far it has been unfavorable

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 55 mph. the vehicle was driven to nissan of elk grove (8599 laguna grove dr, elk grove, ca 95757) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 83,200.

At 49,935 miles, the transfer case and drive shaft (while driving) leaked and needed to be replaced at a cost of $1,514 + car rental for 2 days. the engine and power train are covered by nissan's warrantee only until 5 year,50,000 miles. as i would believe that this is a nissan design and manufacturing problem, and that other 2012 nissan rogue are having similar problems, i would very much appreciate if the nhtsa would investigate this to determine if a recall is warranted. thank you.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan rogue. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle went into neutral and it seemed like the engine stopped without warning. a few moments later, the vehicle drove normally. the local dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 62,000.

2012 nissan rogue lost acceleration while on a trip. rogue would not go more then 30-40 mph in a 80 mph speed zone on highway. almost got hit a couple times trying to keep up with traffic and having to pull over to give the car a break. it was very dangerous with being 7 months pregnant, driving in a no service area. couldn't call for help. it was hot out to have to stop with my self and three dogs in the car.
