Problems with 2009 Nissan Rogue POWER TRAIN

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan rogue. the contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the transmission failed without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. the contact was was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. greenway nissan of jacksonville, 1726 cassat ave, jacksonville, fl 32210, (904) 779-3502, was contacted by phone and informed of the failure. the manufacturer was not contacted nor informed of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 139,000.

Once the vehilce is warmed, the vehicle will not accelerate from a stop. with the accelerater pedal held down in about 15 seconds the rpm will rise and the vehicle will kick into gear and begin to accelerate.

Once the car has been driven continually for at least 45 minutes or more the service engine light comes and the car loses pressure and starts making a whining noise. this has happened several times while driving on the highway.

Recall -harness connector (torque converted solenoid circuit intermittent) previous recall wasn't completed properly as i continue to experience intermittent erratic behavior of the power train and related circuitry, two weeks after the manufacturer said they fixed the harness connector inspect and replace recall (rogue connect) that was place on the car. the car jerks uncontrollably when driving at high speed on the highway or hesitates at stop then takes off suddenly at high speed. i like for the manufacturer to look into this and properly address this recall by fixing this issue with this vehicle they built which i still current drive. a diagnostic scan was done at autozone and i was told the torque converter solenoid circuits are intermittent and that it's due to a damaged transmission wiring harness that is either loose or open circuit in the system and may cause a fire.

I have a 2009 nissan rogue with 106742 miles,i took the vehicle to the nissan dealership for transmission problems.the dealer is telling me that the guarranty covers only if the transmission needs to be replaced,when i read the guarranty covers repairs,replacement and even towing.they want me to pay for the parts in the repair of the transmission.the vehicle is still under warranty.

Repair and replace entire transmission and computer system

Car decelerates on its own. while driving on highway and on small roads, the car will slow and even when accelerator is pushed the rpms will not increase over 3000 and the engine does not rev and the vehicle loses acceleration. this is a very hazardous situation. the vehicle does not accelerate in order to pull over to get out of the way of traffic. all fluids are maintained. the vehicle is properly serviced.

Driving on the freeway the engine reved to high rpms and lost power. there were two babies in the car. we were in the carpool lane and with no power we had to cross 3 lanes of traffic and wait on the side of the freeway with babies for tow truck. was towed to a friends auto shop where we were told about numerous known issues with the cvt transmission.

Looses power upon driving no excelleration and it wont go it's like the throttle petal isn't even there when you start out it drives great but within 20/30 miles it's like the car takes over and it just won't go' we do regular service and we have done transmission services cvt fluid and filter this needs to be addressed nissan should be held accountable

Loss of power and juddering (shaking) of vehicle occurred several times while accelerating, driving up hills, driving for extended periods of time (over 1 hour), or when the air temperature was over 80 degrees fahrenheit, all while accelerator was depressed. when i tried to floor the accelerator, the rpm's increased but the cvt did not engage. had to remove foot from accelerator then reapply, eventually after the car slowed even further, the cvt re-engaged. worst issue happened while on the i90 interstate, attempting to accelerate and car lost power and juddered almost causing a collision with vehicle behind me. took vehicle into dealership twice for this issue, first time the dealership could not replicate issue. took the vehicle back into the dealership within 30 days from original issue and dealership confirmed issue and said new transmission was needed. however, not covered under nissan extended warranty because there were not hard fault codes. called nissan consumer affairs on in july 2018 who said my vin is not part of any updates/recalls for this issue and would not cover repair or replacement of transmission.

Car will not accelerate or respond to gas pedal especially when driving for extended periods of time or uphill. when the gas pedal is depressed the vehicle will judder and loose speed. took the vehicle to the dealership in 2016 for cvt oil cooler recall at 93,063 miles. brought vehicle to dealership with loss of acceleration at 119,931; however, no hard codes to diagnosis issue, sent on my way, with a diagnosis of bad wheel bearing. returned less than a month later with unresolved issue (loss of acceleration) at 121,075 miles. dealership diagnosed that the car needs a new transmission and will not be covered under the extended warranty, 1,075 miles over warranty.

Driving up a hill on highway route 80 west at 65 mph when all of a sudden speed started to decrease i pressed down fully on gas with no response transmission locked up speed continued to decline to 55 mph with traffic flying by me honking horns etc i put hazards on and continued to press gas with no response was able to get up hill and speed and transmission returned to normal. very hazardous for this to occur with kids in the car as well.

When driving on the highway, the car suddenly loses all acceleration. even with the accelerator completely depressed, the car just stops. rpms won't go above 2500, and my husband and i have had to make several emergency stops on the side of the highway, sometimes in heavy traffic, and requiring us to cut across multiple lanes.

Intermittent acceleration & deceleration while vehicle was in motion, putting in drive or reverse has extreme loss of acceleration with engine rpm going well above the needed rpm (3000-4000) to move the vehicle forward.

I purchased vehicle new from dealer. at approx 83,000 miles i began to experience acceleration problems. i was not able to accelerate from a stop w/ pedal fully depressed. extremely dangerous as i was almost in a car accident because car would not move. took it to dealer and i was informed there was a recall on the transmission. dealer replaced transmission. now at 115,000 miles i experienced the same type of problem, except now the car shakes when i try to accelerate. i am unable to reverse or accelerate. i called the dealer and they informed me that the warranty on the transmission expires at 90,000 even though it was a replacement transmission. nissan needs to take responsibility and fix this!!

Cvt lost power on highway without notice and would not accelerate

When the car is in motion driving for a period of 30 minutes or longer or going up a hill the acceleration stops and the car will slow down no matter how much you press on the gas paedal. i have not experienced it heating up according to the tempeture but the car does smell like burnt. i have to turn off the car and let it cool to drive again, but the issue will continue if i drive more than 30 minutes or up a hill.

Going down the interstate going 65 mph and we lost all power couldnt go over 30 mphwe had to pull over and wait then we finally got moving again the power loss kept happening now my service engine light is on and they 1100 to fix the problem nissan knows about the problem but won't recall it

Cvt enters limp mode after 30 minutes of driving 65+ miles per hour. i lose a lot of power when that happens causing my vehicle to be unable to accelerate or go over 3k rpms.

Nisan rouge 2009 lost power after 2 hours driving on highway rpm stock on 2500

1. failure to accelerate and shaking/stalling like behavior. while entering intersection, car failed to accelerate and continued to fail to accelerate as i drove the car the two miles to work. i thought maybe i didn't step on the acc. all the way the first time i was almost hit by a car, but realized it continued to crawl along until i got to speeds over 20mph. i was almost hit several times (a minimum of three to include t boned and rear end type collisions during the two mile drive). got car towed to dealership and dealership notified me that it was not the transmission but it was a faulty sensor switch that told the car i was braking although i was accelerating. dealership refused to return car to me until i had sensor replaced due to safety hazard. dealership told me they have seen several of these issues. additionally, several of these issues exist nationwide as noted by numerous online complaints. 121000miles. discussed if it was the transmission, nissan was going to see if they would help with costs since it was right outside of the extended warranty to 120k miles for known transmission issue (which i had no knowledge of). nissan deemed it was not the transmission, however, could not say what caused the shaking. 2. car still stuttered, but the drag was gone after replacing sensor for two months. drag is back and car still shutters. was told by a different place that my transmission is shot. 124700 miles. it shutters like it is going to stall in traffic when slowing down, in stop and go traffic, and a lower speeds.

After driving at high speeds for a while i loose acceleration. and when i come to a stop the car will not go for like 5 seconds after i step on the gas.

Was driving on hwy & started losing power up hills. called dealership service dept & they said transmission issue. had the transmission replaced about 3 years ago & the valve body & cooling system malfunctioned this time. there isn't a big enough cooling system for the transm & nissan is aware of the issue. were 3 other rogue's getting repaired for transmission issues at the same time. issue often arrives soon after warranty expires. dealership svc dept indicated that it happens often and needs to be recalled.

No acceleration after driving for about an one hour at 70mph. the car start loosing power and when i press the gas it just scrim with no acceleration. this problem many many rouge 2009 users suffer from, nissan should recall and fix the problem.

Item one-whining noise when accelerating item 2-engine intermittently shuts off when stopping at an intersection

Vehicle going up hill will loose power, cvt transmission does this randomly when going up any hill. i am going to die trying to get out of the way of oncoming cars behind me. i am afraid to go anywhere that has an uphill grade on any road.

Transmission overheats and fails. was replaced at 90k miles and happend again at 130k miles. it is a safety hazard. it goes into "safe mode" and then quits while driving

My nissan rogue will periodically stop acceleration while i am driving on the highway. i have the pedal pushed all the way down and the car will not accelerate. i will be going the posted speed and for no apparent reason, my car will start to de-accelerating on its own. after reading several complaints i am finding out that this is due to the cvt transmission in this particular model. this is a safety hazard to anyone who is driving this car. also, i have noticed a loud noise when i put the car in gear, which i am reading is a sign that the transmission is going out. i purchased an extended warranty on this vehicle but none of the repairs that i have listed are covered. this car is a piece of junk and i will not get anything for it upon trade-in. i am stuck with this car, and have put over $3,000 in this car already over the last 6 months. *tr

When driving the car would start shaking and making funny noises in the back. the car eventually would not accelerate and started smoking. took it the dealer was informed it had a broken axle and also has coupler issue. i had the axle replaced. but it still shakes and makes noises when turns are made. i was informed by a nissan mechanic this is a common problem in the rogue.

I bought the car used, to get to work and the many doctor's appointment that i currently have (i am breast cancer survivor with a lot of side effects). when it first happened i was driving locally when i pushed on the gas pedal and the car didn't accelerate. it happened just for a moment and the car drove fine the rest of the way home so i hoped it was one time thing. a day or two later it happened again, telling me that the first occurrence wasn't random. that's when i researched the symptoms and saw i wasn't alone. that's when i also learned that nissan extended the warranty. i found out i was over the mileage, i would have to pay i balked because i knew of the many people that have/had this problem and i don't feel i should be responsible for a mechanically defective transmission. in the meantime i'm gently driving the vehicle: short trips, no highways and 40 mph or less. if what i read is true and the loss of acceleration (which happened a third time within july) is the car going into safe mode then i'll do what i can to avoid aggravating the vehicle until i take it in for the new tranny cooler. i really hope this resolves my problem. after doing research on the cvt i found out that they are known for their issues and the extended warranty went into place. of course i am over by 30,000 but i saw that if you are over you should still contact nissan. i did and started a claim got a call back from the midwest corporate gay who told me too bad we can not help. i need help

The cvt transmission oil overheats at long driving periods and the transmission / car goes into limp mode and the speed drops immediately and significantly and will not be driveable until the oil cools down. very dangerous because this only happens on the highways at high speeds. also, after the vehicle enters this "limp mode", if you exit the highway and stop at a traffic light or stop sign, the vehicle will then not accelerate past 5 mph for a period of 30-45 seconds. nissan knows that this happens and extended the warranty on the transmission. but they will do no work on the warranty because the issue cannot be duplicated by the dealer when the car is brought in, which will always be the case because the issue happens on the highway after being driven for a while. this sudden deceleration almost got me killed by a semi that was behind me when my car went into this limp mode without warning.

The cvt transmission failed in june 2016 with 122k miles, just 7 years old. i was on the highway with 4 others in the suv when the vehicle jerked made a howling noise and failed to accelerate. lucky i was able to coast onto the shoulder without getting into an accident. i went to the dealer for a diagnostic check and they informed me that the transmission needs to be replaced and the cost will be $3600. i have reached out to my local dealership, nissan north american, and bbb because they know that the cvt transmissions are faulty and may not break until the vehicle is out of the warranty period. nissan does not want to cover the cost nor acknowledge that there is a problem with their cvt transmissions. there are many customers on various websites reporting transmission failures and all complaints are similar- failed transmissions and nissan refusing to fix the problem without being paid $3000+. it's shocking that a recall hasn't been done for these transmissions. i've already read dozens of horror stories online over this. i'm shocked that there hasn't been a fatality. it's just a matter of time before all these customers get together and file a class-action lawsuit against nissan.

Transmission failed in august 2013 with 86k and was repaired by nissan dealership. this problem existed on 2 occasions with me and i was almost struck by another vehicle since it failed as i was driving on highway. the vehicle jerked made a howling noise and failed to accelerate. i was able to coast onto the shoulder. dealership informed me that originals parts were installed in vehicle. now transmission failure is occurring once again and quite recently after getting off the highway the car failed to accelerate after stopping for a light. this has occurred many times within the month of may and as a long distance driver to and from work everyday, i am petrified of what can happen if it stop suddenly. i went to the dealer for a diagnostic check and once again they informed me that the transmission needs to be replaced and the cost will be $4100. nissan does not want to bear some of the cost nor acknowledge that there is a problem with their cars/rollovers that has the cvt (continuous variable transmissions) many customers on various websites are reporting transmission failures in nissan as well as on the bbb site. . all complaints reported from customers are similar- failed transmissions. the problem is that the transmission belt breaks with caused a sudden stop. i have reached out to nissan north american, bbb, and the district attorney office in my state because nissan knows that the cvt at times may not break until the vehicle is out of the warranty period. although, they has been no recalls the evidence to date suggests that cvt transmission has become a nightmare for me as well as for other car owners. since my transmission failed in 2013, it is my belief that the whole transmission didn't not come out but was overhauled due to the cost of replacement. i can't afford to replace the transmission at the moment and i am afraid of my safety.

The cvt transmission in the rogue is known for failing. when the fluid temperature gets too hot the vehicle will go into a limp mode limiting all power. my rogue has had 4 transmissions in 85k miles. i have had my replacement transmission for two weeks and it is already having signs of failing. i have nearly been in multiple major wrecks because the transmission will cut out when trying to enter a highway or pull out across traffic. there are multiple reports of accidents from this issue but nissan has not said a word. it has the exact type of failure the nissan pathfinder had, which just had a class action passed against it.

Driving car to work on a busy road, when it revved and then lost power. was able to drift to the shoulder.

Cvt continues to fail. it was replaced at 73k miles after failing; it now is going into fail safe mode due to overheating issues. this seems to be very common rogue problem. i was told that the 100k warranty would be for the replacement cvt but am now being told by dealer that repairs were 12k or 12 months. cvt is showing signs of poor shifting and power loss on hills. frequently won't start moving for few seconds at traffic light. please help with resolving the problem with all of us rogue customers/owners. this has been happening now for months and i am worried for my families safety. thanks

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan rogue. the contact performed regular maintenance on the vehicle and noticed that the front drive side axle leaked grease and the cb boot was cracked on both sides. in addition, the inner ball joint had premature wear and the transmission operated in high gear when driving. the wheels were difficult to turn as well. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the front driver side axle was replaced. the manufactuer was notified of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 76,200.

Passenger air bag sensor has failed. air bag light blinks. sensor is in seat. cvt transmissions fail without warning. research indicates this occurs at highway speeds and causes a hazard in traveled lanes.

While driving the vehicle up hills or during hot days, the vehicle will suddenly ignore the gas pedal and slow down. this becomes treacherous on long drives that involve going over hills or mountains as they car will slow to under 40mph and will not respond to the gas pedal. after bringing my vehicle to the dealership, they stated there is an ecm recall. they changed out the part, but the issue when driving still occurred. nissan is aware of the problem (see ntb14-002), however the issue is not considered a recall and is labeled as a customer expense for those outside the 60,000 mile warranty and optional upgrade. this is a serious flaw for any rogue owners, and is a safety risk while driving. nissan should replace the flawed cooling systems at their expense, especially since the defect was not detected until 11/25/2015.

Vehicle loses power while driving at highway speeds.very dangerous situation causing vehicles to swerve around us, and nearly causing a collision.

My car would not accelerate after driving on the highway (75 mph) for more than 2 hours no matter how hard i stepped on the gas. it only happened when driving after 2 hours on the highway and did not have an issue again since i usually do not take long trips. this happened twice for my road trip to and from houston and dallas. a few months later, the car jerks when coming to a stop and accelerating from a stop. this was on regular roads about 40 mph. noticed many complaints online with the same issue and was told it's due to the transmission. i believe that this should be investigated as it is a safety hazard and unfair for car owners to pay for repair since many 2008 & 2009 rogue owners reported the same issue.

When i was traveling on the highway for over an hour going 80 mph, the vechicle quickly deccelerated and when i stepped on the pedal for gas all the way to the floor it did not accelerate. it was very scary since there were are traveling behind me and i was afraid they would crash into me. this has happened every time i take my vehicle on the highway traveling for over an hour for the past year. i am terrified i am going to cause a crash while traveling with my child, this is definitely a safety hazard.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan rouge. after driving consistently over 100 miles and at highway speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate. after restarting the vehicle, it would resume normal operation for approximately one hour and then fail again. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 60,000.

In june of this year my family and i was on our way to myrtle beach for a family vacation in my 2009 nissan rouge . while on the highway my car started making a loud whinny noise and then completely lost power. with the gas peddle to the floor it would only go 40mph. we pulled over and it would not go at all. it was like it was stuck in neutral. we sat for a while and it drove like nothing was wrong. we decided not to take it on vacation but leave it to have someone look at it. they found nothing wrong. it hashappend on two more separate occasions now both times on the highway after driving for about 45mins. i made appointment and sent it to a certified nissan dealership to be looked at. they are unable to help because they could not duplicate the problem. although i was told by them that they have see it many times before and what is happening is the transmission is getting hot the fluid is bubbling and sending signals to the vehicle to shut down.nissian will not authorize the dealership to be able to fix the problem without being able to duplicate. the problem is they can not duplicate the problem because it takes a while of driving for it to occur. i called consumer afairs and they un willing help stating the same thing the dealership told me.
