June 4, 2013 i purchased a 2013 nissan pathfinder platinum model. around september 2013, while ascending a small hill i noticed a shudder shake that lasts about 4 to 6 seconds. the situation happens while driving around 25 miles per hour when accelerating from low speeds. it occurs intermittently so i thought it could be the pavement however within the past year it has been more frequent. i have experienced the shaking during slow turns and upon hills the transmission feels stuck and you finally feel the gear kick in and after making it uphill or stopping vehicle drives smooth again.. it seems as if the car loses acceleration power and i have to release the gas pedal in order for it to stop shaking and then return to normal. nissan needs to carefully investigate and fix this serious safety issue and issue a mass vehicle recall. *tr
I was driving the car about 20 to 25 mph but when i tried to brake the brake did not stopped the car and there was an accident my self and my girl friend got injured and we had to go for crayaprator for long time this car is not safe at all north american nissan is not willing to work with me nor the abc nissan where i bought the car. bad customer service. *tr
Car jutters when accelerating after a stop and when turning. the car was purchased in june, and has done it about 15 times since. the first time we took it into the dealership, they reset something in the transmission and said that should fix the problem. well, it didn't fix the problem. we took the car back to the dealership twice, they test drove it and said they never experience the juttering. therefore, they haven't done anything about it. now it's december and i received a recall notice for something else regarding the antilock brake system software. i am very dissatisfied with this car and the service that nissan has provided; they haven't helped me one bit even after filing a complaint with nissan corporate. *tr
The car started to vibrate and surge and loud bang noises at the front the car it feels like its loosing power and its hard to pick up, has done this while approaching a red light or slowing down. *jb
As i eased off the accelerator and coasted through a turn, the automobile jerked for approximately 5 to 10 seconds and then returned to normal. this has happened on three occasions. most recently, on september 2nd, in route home ( exiting a campsite) our automobile jerked as i towed our a-liner camper of approximately 1400 lbs. again, my speed was under 20 mph. our automobile was taken in once for this issue; however, service department found no issues with the transmission. *jb
Vehicle began to shudder. was diagnosed as a bad transmission. the transmission was changed and problem returned at 3079 miles on the vehicle. *tr
Bought my pathfinder in august 2013 i love it!!! but noticed that the passenger airbag light illuminated when my son (119 pounds) sit's in the seat. this happen often. i pull over all the time turn off the suv and restart several times until it goes off. nissan finally did a recall on it but it has not gone away. also it used to illuminate when i set my diaper bag on it which is supposed to but now after the recall "fix" it does not illuminate when something light weight is set on it. it has a mind of it's own and i am worried that it could possibly fail if we were to get into a collision. i have taken it in several times to check it but it always comes up as working properly. please find a fix for this issue. the other issue i have found is when accelerating there is some kind of tugging/pulling/lagging feeling as if it does not want to pick up speed. it does however pick up speed but the "tugging" feels as if the suv is going to stall out. what it this??? *tr
Upon acceleration, the transmission seems to stall for a brief moment. this is happening more frequently now and stalls a little longer each time upon acceleration. *tr
I have the same problem with my pathfinder that i see several people having. the shuddering is like the transmission is slipping and it has happened in various situations. it is not a sideways shudder like a shake, it is a lack of forward motion (while the engine revs to higher rpms) so severe that it feels like being rear ended and has nearly slammed me into the steering wheel more than once. i have had two different dealerships check it and both said there was no problem because it is not throwing an error code on the computer. finally, it did it all the way to my work one morning (30+ miles) so i took it to the dealership where i purchased it again. same results, except they tried to pass it off as a bad wheel bearing and replaced one of my wheel bearings. they called me to tell me it was ready for pick up and i refused to pick it up until the problem is fixed (i now have 40k miles, warranty is getting close to being up). i could go on and on about how this has played out, but long story short, they are now in the process of replacing my coil packs and if that doesn't work, then they are going to try replacing the transmission. it is very disappointing since the first 2 nissans i owned were great vehicles. *tr
My nissan pathfinder suv loses power from 45hp to 2hp it is at the nissan company at this time 7/24/2013 with 347 miles. *tr
Passenger airbag light illuminates as disabled when an adult passenger occupies the seat. sensor has been reprogrammed but condition still exists. dealer claims no codes are stored. manufacturer has been notified. recall did not affect my vehicle due to production date. idle has been re-learned several times. tachometer will drop below 500 as if vehicle is going to stall. now i am experiencing loss of traction. tires spin and squeal while just trying to pull out in to traffic. had vdc light illuminate and shut off after 5 seconds in completely dry conditions. had metal scraping sound, left wheel bearing and control arm was replaced. took in to dealer a couple weeks ago for similar metal sound on left side, they claimed backplate bent in to rotor. metal on metal sound still occurring. called nissan to file yet another claim requesting that they absorb negative equity, since my original claim for them to repurchase vehicle was denied. there is something seriously wrong with this car. *tr
Vehicle shaking/shuddering while driving. seemed like the vehicle is loosing power and not responding to controls. tachometer and speedometer gauge also shake/jitter. *js
When i am accelerating or driving at low speeds the car shudders. 'been to nissan twice now, it still shudders even though they reprogrammed the ecm and replaced the torque converter after removing the engine. *tr
Driving at a low rate of speed the vehicle "shudders" and does not have much power. if i speed up its okay, but anytime i'm driving slowly it does the same thing. *tr
Shortly after purchasing my new 2013 nissan pathfinder in may of 2013, i started to experience the vehicle violently shuttering at lower speeds. it seemed as if the car would lose power and i would have to release the gas pedal in order for it to stop. i have called multiple nissan service dealerships and have spoken with service managers about the issue but, they all say the same thing, "nissan is aware of the issue and they are working on issuing a recall. continue to drive the vehicle. it will not cause damage to the vehicle itself". i am reaching my one year anniversary with this vehicle and the problem continues and is becoming noticeably worse. while at first the shuttering occurred only in low speeds, it seems to be occurring while at high speeds as well. i have contacted nissan and was told that there was not an existing recall for this issue and that my vin was not a match for any transmission recalls. i was also told that a regional manager would get in contact with me and i was given a case number. *tr
I purchased a new 2013 pathfinder for myself on 4/18/2013. i started noticing a slight shudder on take off from a stop in may. we mentioned this to the dealership in early june and the immediately acknowledge there was a problem with all the new model pathfinders. the fix was a torque converter for the cvt but the parts were on back order with no known eta. in late september they called saying they had the part and told me to bring it in for the repair. when i came for my scheduled appointment a couple days later they turned me away stating the torque converter was found not to fix the problem and they needed to completely replace the transmission. again, the parts were on back order and no known eta. the transmission replacement was finally done 10/24/2013 and we started feeling the shuddering right away. i thought it was the transmission breaking in. the problem is much worse now with the car losing complete power and causing potential accidents. i have a 12 month old riding in this vehicle. we are currently requesting nissan to repurchase the vehicle because the dealership says there is nothing they can do. *tr
At 20mph car stutters/chokes as if it will shut off. *tr
We have experienced intermittent problems with the vehicle shaking or vibrating while accelerating or decelerating, with temporary loss of power at low speed 10-20 mph. this has occurred several times, even after the recall reprogram was done. the most recent occurrence happened twice may 17, 2013, ten days after picking it up from the dealership after they drove it for 300 miles and did not duplicate the issue. we were told that the recall was to address the shaking issues with the vehicle and would be corrected by reprogramming the computer (which was supposed to have already been done) and it did not resolve the problem. some nissan employees say there is no issues known with the pathfinder and some will admit it there is, but say engineering is working on a fix for it, but claim it is not a safety concern. my wife almost ended up in a ditch on one occasion and then missed rear ending a vehicle while the vehicle was shaking and she was slowing down on another occasion. the problem is not easily duplicated, so it tough to show it happening, but does someone actually have to get hurt before it becomes a safety issue and is really looked into? *tr
The vehicle begins to vibrate or almost seems like its slipping if that makes sense it happens when i'm first taking off at low speeds. *tr
Vehicle shudders as if driving over rumble bars for approximately 5 seconds when accelerating slowly -- usually around 40 mph. *tr
********basically we traded in our 2012 pathfinder for the 2013 pathfinder on april 2013.************* we immediately noticed some flaws with the vehicle. my experience with the vehicle began to shudder at low speed every once in a while. also the hood will shake while driving over 40mph., as if it wanted to fly off. i called nissan dealerships, spoke with service managers and they stated that nissan is aware of the issue and working on issuing a recall. their advice was to continue driving vehicle as normal, shouldn't result any damage. oh, were they wrong! it's been about a year with this vehicle and the problem not only continues but, has become worse. i can't drive 5 mph without the vehicle shuddering recklessly, as if part of the engine wants to fall off. well, now i have a new issue, on startup my vehicle throws white/gray smoke as if a bomb blew up. this is so embarrassing. i immediately took the vehicle to the dealer, they came back to say they found "sludge" in the engine, that it has to be replaced! ok, but according to nissan they are not going to cover this, since they assume we are liable. we have maintained this vehicle properly and if this engine failed and covered in sludge, that has to be a recall. at, this point in time nissan has communicated with me one time in a week. i spoke to the service manager, he's not very helpful in trying to resolve this issue. he just advised that we sell the vehicle back to nissan. unbelievable, this has become a total nightmare, i overheard some workers at the dealers discussing issues about the 2013 pathfinder, they are aware of the issues this vehicles has, but their main goal is to sell. not inform the consumers about this piece of crap!!! *tr
Purchased vehicle jan 2013. vehicle shudders continuously when traveling at constant speed around 40 mph. also shudders violently and loses power when turning at low speed, approx. 5 to 10 mph. source feels to be transmission. happens every time driven.took back to dealership where purchased may 2013. technician drove it and said they couldn't feel anything wrong. took to another dealership in october. they reprogrammed the abs system because they said there was going to be voluntary recall issued soon. that had no effect on problem, still as evident as ever. now faced with third trip to shop to try to get something done. seems to be common complaint based on what i read. *tr
It happened 3 times already, car started shaking and it stop all of a sudden, all transmission fluid and coolant drained out. luckily we did'n get hit from the back because the first time was when we stop on a red light and it didn't move at all we tow it to the nearest nissan dealer and they said that it was a factory defect but that was fixed. i had a bad feeling and took it to puente hills nissan where we bought the car. but they told to comeback next day so on my way home on the freeway it started again we just had seconds to pull aside from the road and the car didn't moved at all, fluids drained out again and this time the smoke was even worst i had a panic attack because i thought it was going to catch on fire so i've jumped out of the car "on the freeway" without thinking that i could get killed. the car got towed to puente hills nissan and "they fixed it". when they were testing it it happened again!! they towed the car back and now after a week they said that they already fixed the problem that it was the radiator that had too much pressure so was heating up and shooting the hoses off so they now replaced the radiator and told me to go and pick up the car. i don't feel safe driving around with my family this situation can cause an accident. nissan dealer won't replace the car even though there is the lemon law that states that after 3 repairs from the same issue the car has to be replaced and even more because it was a brand new car and we only had it for 6 weeks. and there was also 2 recalls on this particular vehicle one on the electric system and other one on the air bags so now i don't know what else is going to happen with this vehicle. *tr
About 4 hours into our return trip on friday, march 29, i was driving on i295 around the city of richmond, va. we were in heavy traffic travelling about 75 mph when our car backfired. my wife and i looked at each other, and nothing seemed to happen to the car. so we continued driving thinking the backfire was a noise from a source other than our car. however, when i braked shortly thereafter because of traffic buildup the car stalled at 40 mph. i was stunned but quickly responded by restarting the car. from that point on the car repeatedly stalled each time we braked and/or reduced speed. *js
June 23, 2013 - i purchased my 2013 nissan pathfinder in march. it has had the following problem since i got it. when accelerating from stopping, or when increasing speed when turning, the vehicle sputters. it sometimes vibrates and also feels like i'm going over something rough. it feels like the vehicle is going to shut completely off when it does this. this problem has been going on now for 3 1/2 months.. i have contacted consumer affairs but as of today, nothing has been done to correct the problem. the problem is consistent every time i drive it and is getting worse. *tr
Shortly after purchasing my 2013 nissan pathfinder, i noticed a shudder when accelerating at low speeds. this has randomly happened at least 10-15 times in the past year. after a stop or slow to around 10 miles per hour, the car shudders on acceleration. many times it happens during a turn with acceleration but it also has had the problem during straight acceleration at low speeds. the dealership was made aware of the problem during multiple services but techs were not able to duplicate the problem and did no repairs. *tr
Detected intermittent heat failure in the rear of the vehicle as well as the area surrounding the occupant's feet. check engine light came on after 10 days of ownership. dealership determined code was "transmission fluid pressure switch." the service tech erased the code without performing service. 5 days later driver detected transmission slippage. drove the vehicle to the dealership. service tech and driver took a test drive. service tech confirmed transmission was slipping. while driving back to the dealership, the driver pressed the gas pedal and the car wouldn't move. this created a safety issue for the driver and service tech. it happened twice more and the vehicle almost got stuck under the door trying to return to the dealership. diagnosis by dealer: cvt failure. *tr
Shortly after purchasing the 2013 nissan pathfinder in december 2012, we noticed the vehicle shaking when accelerating or decelerating. this occurred in both the 2wd and the 4wd/variable transmission settings. the recall notice received said the continuously variable transmission (cvt) chain might slip and cause the vehicle to "judder", which it did many times. the vehicle acts like the engine will die when stopping or accelerating from a stop, causing hesitation that could result in an accident. after the recommended "reprogramming of the transmission control module (tcm)" by the dealer, the problem continues and now one year and several complaints to the dealer later we were advised to "open a file" with nissan to document the problem, though no one has said if it can be repaired. along with this complaint, we are also contacting the national consumer affairs dept of nissan north america. the "slipping" occurs daily and according to the original recall notice, this might result "in future damage to your vehicle's transmission". *tr
I was driving on the highway at approximately 60 mph when my 2013 nissan pathfinder started to act strange. the rpm's would be erratic going from 3000 - 5000 if i touched the accelerator. then it would stop if i did not touch the accelerator. then 4000 - 6000 rpms. it seemed very unsafe and obviously something was wrong. i decided to get off the highway and on the exit ramp when i heard a large grinding noise and the car stopped. there was an awful burning smell and the cabin filled with smoke in addition to the smoke coming out of the hood. i turned the car off, turned it back on and it would not start. it also stopped in a very unsafe location and eventually the state police came to push me out of the way. called my nissan dealer, they sent a tow truck and i went to the dealership. later that day i found out that the recommendation was for a new transmission. i could not believe this, i was driving a $40,000 brand new suv and that was the only option. how could a new transmission help, if there is a design defect in nissan's pathfinder transmissions? my new car would never be the same. *tr
I have my 2013 pathfinder for around 2 weeks and since day 2 it's having problems i think with the power train. it start to fail the acceleration, like when on a manual car you step out the clutch early. i went twice to a nissan dealer to verify the problem and on both visits they said there's no problem with the suv. so i have to wait to something more happens so they can find a problem. i changed my 2010 pathfinder for this one... i think i made a really bad move here. *tr
Driving on the highway @55mph the engine began to rev from low to very high rpms. all of a sudden cabin began to fill with smoke and lost complete power to drive train. move to the side of road and avoided a huge accident with 2 children on board. *tr
After fueling my brand new vehicle for the first time, i headed out and noticed smoke around my vehicle. a neighboring vehicle motioned for me to roll down my window and said i had fluid that looked like anti freeze pouring out from beneath my 2013 pathfinder. i tried to pull over but the suv would no longer accelerate forward and i was stuck in the middle of the road with my children. not knowing why my vehicle was smoking, i contacted the fire department. some people stopped to help and push the vehicle from the street. the fire department arrived and the dealership was contacted. a towing company was sent out. i was told the towing company's have been towing these brand new vehicles alot, some that were driven off the lot and had to be towed. after researching this issue, i found there are several people having the same issue and this issue was under a law suit for the 2005-2010 model pathfinders. it doesn't look like nissan has resolved the issue just yet. *tr
My wife was driving our two week old 2013 nissan pathfinder platinum edition with my four year old daughter when the transmission failed and the vehicle became disabled. the transmission completely failed and the car had to be towed to the local nissan dealer. i was told today that the coolant line burst and that the transmission fluid leaked from the vehicle. as a "precaution" they will be replacing the radiator, transmission line (s), as well as the transmission on the vehicle before returning it to us. the dealer claims that the transmission and radiator did not get affected buy the incident and that they are replacing those parts as a precautionary measure. i have done some research online and learned that a number of other 2013 pathfinders have suffered from the same catastrophic issue. i also learned that previous generations of the pathfinder had similar issues which nissan was very slow to acknowledge. when a vehicle that is traveling at a moderate to high rate of speed looses transmission the driver becomes at risk for a major accident. the vehicle cannot be driven and in our case my wife was saved by a aaa employee who was kind enough to push her car out of the way of oncoming traffic. these cars need to be recalled immediately before someone gets killed. if you are reading this and you know someone who drives this vehicle please tell them to take it to their nissan service department immediately. i am convinced this is going to require a recall. our car had 450 mile on it for gods sake. *tr
While i was driving with my 5 year old and 5 month old my 2013 pathfinder on 12/29 (which i had for 1 month)it started feeling like it was missing gears and sputtering. the rpms started to rev up between 4000-5000 and was only going about 45 mph and the vehicle was not going any faster, and the car was jerking as i was driving it. i stopped and turned the car off hoping it was just a fluke but when i stared it would not move when i was in reverse i then put in drive again it was doing the same thing but this time the check engine light came on, and i even pressed the cruise to see if that would work and it wouldn't work either. i brought it to the dealership and they told me it was a transmission module chip that needed to be replaced. i waited 10 days and finally they said it was ready. i picked it up and literally turned around because it was doing the exact same thing except this time as i took my foot of the pedal the vehicle did not decelerate and continued to drive at 60mph without me pressing the gas until i hit the brake it started to slow down, thank god, all while my baby is in the car with me. since then it has been at the dealership which does not know what to do now and i have been in contact with nissan expressing my concern for the vehicles safety, and the fact it is brand new a month old car and the only thing that i'm being told is that they are sending a tech from nissan and they're really sorry about my trouble. so now the car just sits at the dealership going on a month and neither one i feel has been really concerned with trying to fix the vehicle in a timely manner or worried on the safety of it. i am totally disappointed with the way the dealership and nissan have handled the situation. so much for them being concerned about the well being and safety of their passengers. *tr
While driving at a speeds of 40 or below the vehicle will begin to shake/shudder. it will continue for approximately 5-10 seconds. it also appears to loose power. the dealership has looked at it and reprogrammed it but shortly after leaving it began to do it again. *tr
Everything time i drive on the hwy over 55mph the hood of the engine seems like it wants to come off. it shakes so much that it doesn't seem right. the dealer check and said this is normal for suv's. *tr
