We have classified the 317 complaints from 2007 Nissan Pathfinder about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Radiator was defective (original) and leaked coolant into transmission causing breakdown of transmission, neutral/park sensor, computer. need to replace radiator, rebuild transmission and replace senor. $5k job. never was notified of defective radiator problem and thus did not know that this would be an issue. nissan won't do anything about it.
2007 nissan pathfinder with 112,000 miles was driven to fred anderson nissan in asheville for service regarding issues with the transmission shifting improperly. after waiting 4 hours, i was delivered a quote for over $7,000 regarding replacement of my radiator, transmission, thermostat, and airbag system. i purchased this vehicle 6 months ago with an extended warranty from flow honda of winston-salem.
Something wrong with the transmission.
The transmission started shifting rough. at 65 mph on i25 the tranny clanked, and dropped to first gear. i had to pull over, restart. it did it again, but had a burning smell. it threw the code p1774. a single dealership care for all maintenance work, on time for 10 years, did all recall type work. fix quotes are coming back between $3500-$4500, which after buying a house and a surprise pregnancy i can't afford putting my livelihood at risk
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle shut down without warning. the vehicle was able to be restarted. the contact called bill cole auto mall ashland at 606-29-2288 (2701 winchester ave, ashland, ky 41101) and was informed that the vehicle was not under warranty. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 111,000.
The vehicle started vibrating very roughly and loudly during acceleration, then suddenly the transmission completely failed while my daughter was driving it on a very busy frontage road to the highway. she was able to steer it onto the shoulder before it stopped coasting; and several people stopped to help her push it into safety in a nearby parking lot. after having it towed to a repair shop, the mechanic informed us that the radiator fluid had leaked through cracks into the transmission fluid, causing irreversible damage to the transmission. upon researching the problem, we discovered this was a known and acknowedged problem with 2005-2010 nissan pathfinders, but neither a recall nor a warning was ever issued. we are now beyond the warranty coverage in time and in mileage, so nissan will not cover any of the expenses to repair.
Coolant and transmission fluid are mixed causing the car to not shift properly. i was not told of this issue when i purchased the car in 2010 from the nissan dealer - even though it was a known condition. this is the 2nd time the transmission is failing, so it'll be my 3rd transmission. the first time it happened, the car had 70k miles. now it has 115,000. so the 2nd transmission lasted about 45k miles. nissan wants me to pay $3000 of the $5,850 estimate. if i knew this car was going to be this much trouble, i wouldn't have purchased it. i really think nissan should be doing a better job owning up to this issue and covering the expenses for their poor quality.
I bought my 07 pathfinder in july and the dealership had done repair on the radiator at their expense, and replaced the coolant and tranny fluids and stated there was no cross contamination. however, the vehicle stopped shifting properly and we couldn't tell if it was the tranny, abs, or 4wd getting caught. as of yesterday the tranny wouldn't change gears. restarting the car helped. but since there was no recall there is no history of any other work. all maintenance was kept up with the same dealership for the majority of the vehicles life. after the vehicle has been at a stop, and moved to accelerate it wouldn't go into gear/drive then all of a sudden would ?catch? and would launch.
Vehicle is currently at 200,000 miles. without notice and under usual checks and tune-ups the radiator failed causing the engine coolant to mix with the transmission fluid. now, subsequently the transmission has coolant mixed with transmission fluid. nissan has taken no ownership of the defect except to recommend replacing the radiator at the owners expense. my vehicle is now in the shop awaiting a $3,500.00 transmission overhaul to see what is salvageable.
While driving the vehicle temperature gauge pegged out at the high side and there was a burning metal smell. i was told by two different mechanics that the radiator failed and leaked into the transmission. the vehicle is beyond the extended warranty that nissan gave and they never contacted me to let me know that there even was an extended warranty.
I had noticed fluid leaking from under the front /right portion of my vehicle after i parked. i opened the hood and the reserve cap to the radiator had come loose. after letting my vehicle cool, i inspected both the reserve tank and radiator and noticed the fluid was now a milky/frothy substance. after some detective work, i learned that this is a common issue with pathfinders from 2005- through 2010 that nissan has ignored to fix. the transmission fluid cooler in the radiator assembly "fails" causing contamination to the internal transmission components ,and damage to the internal transmission computer. there are no warning signs up to or just prior to the failures. after contacting nissan and receiving a denial to fix our truck under a warranty, i am stuck with a vehicle with several "thousands of dollars" in repairs all due to nissan ignoring a known defect and not issuing a recall on all vehicles in the "known" year bracket with these issues. i'm sure nothing will be done regarding this issue due to there not being a major loss of lives involved, i.e. takata airbags, but i find it is my duty to add my name to an already hefty list of other nissan pathfinder owners that have experienced this same problem.
Takata recall . we were on our way back home with our children and a the pathfinder made it made a loud noise so we pulled over off the highway and the pathfinder wouldn't start. we had to call a tow truck to tow us home. we waited on the side of the road for 3 hours with a 10 year old and a 3 month old. we are very disappointed and after doing some research i found that the 2007 pathfinder appears to have a widespread defect where coolant leaks into the transmission, causing transmission failure around 100,000 miles. repair costs are typically upwards of $4,500.
The transmission failed after radiator fluid mixed with the transmission fluid. we became fully aware of the problem when my daughter could not start the car. she was at a park with her two young children and 50 miles from home. it was very distressing. the local nissan dealer will charge over $4,000 plus taxes for the repairs. most of this expense could have been avoided if we had been informed about the defect at an earlier time. ## vin passed ## nissan pathfinder 2007 ##
At around 91000 miles the transmission started sporadically staying in 2nd gear and would jerk at times when shifting .finally the transmission quit shifting at all out of 2nd gear. after investigation we found coolant had leaked into the transmission. which caused a catastrophic breakdown.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. while attempting to shift gears, the contact heard a rattling noise on the front passenger side and the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a shop where it was diagnosed that the transmission sensor needed to be replaced. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
Lost motive power lots of shuddering and hard shifting.
I started having the problem with my 2007 nissan pathfinder on april 6, 2017 while i was driving home from work. it was shuddering and it wouldn't move when i stepped on the accelerator or put it in reverse. there were no warning signs before. i had it towed to my mechanic 45 min. away. later that day i learned that the radiator had broken and the water and gone into the transmission and destroyed the transmission. someone told me that they had that same problem with their nissan so i looked online and lo and behold...this was a big issue with nissan. the nissan dealer referred me to consumer affairs for nissan. they told me that i would have to have it towed from my repair person down to the nissan dealership to be evaluated. consumer affairs for nissan agreed to have me pay $3,000 copay and they would pay the rest even though my car was 2 weeks past the warranty date and it was 13,000 miles over. i, as a consumer, was never notified that this was an issue with my car. if i had, i probably would have replaced the radiator at $800 instead of the transmission and radiator for $5700. i am still out $3,000 which is a huge amount and two tows for my vehicle.
Transmission issues like every other nissan pathfinder owner has reported.. same issue, radiator leaks into transmission with no warning what so ever. how in the world was this not a recall from nissan & the nhtsa.. it's a safety hazard and fortunately in our situation we barely made it to our destination before the transmission failed... $ 6k later out of pocket with nissan refusing to recognize any transmission or radiator issues outside of warranty.
Transmission fluid is leaking into coolant.
Radiator failure with the transmission cooler, causing the failure of the transmission. unit was in motion when failure occurred. when vehicle was shut down it would not longer start.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the transmission failed and the vehicle shifted gears with force. the vehicle was taken to howell motors buick, gmc, nissan (1158 highway 51-98 summit, ms 39666, (phone) 601-276-7711) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed due to a radiator leak. the contact stated that the radiator was replaced by the same dealer in 2015; however, the radiator replacement did not correct the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
I purchased a 2007 nissan pathfinder about 6 months ago. the vehicle has 139,000 miles. the transmission has begun slipping, and i took it to a transmission repair place, and they told me it would be at least $3500 minimum. they said coolant from the radiator has leaked into the transmission destroying the transmission.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated while the vehicle was operated, it experienced a complete loss of power. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vehicle's transmission and radiator fluid had mixed. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 100,000. updated 10/18/17*lj the consumer stated malfunctioning airbags. *tr
At 80000 miles timing chain had to be replaced $2100.00 repair that nissan was aware of being a common defect . my extended warrantee company did not cover because they said it was a pre - existing problem. at 82000 miles radiator transmission cooler leaked antifreeze into transmission causing failure to both. another problem that nissan was aware of and would not pay for a repair for over $6000 because they had no recall
Car started to shudder when driving, heater would get cold when car was sitting, vibrations when driving. garage said radiator cracked and leaked fluid into transmission fluid and destroyed engine. *tr
Like so many others that i have been reading about ... these radaitor tanks are horrible they crack and somehow are leaking coolant into the transmission causing further issues... now i am upwards of 1000 dollars in repair cost.... it causes the 10amp at ecu fuse to blow everytime the car is started
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. while driving approximately 40 mph, the gear did not switch to a higher gear. the failure occurred without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed and replaced the radiator, and also flushed the transmission. the failure recurred three months later. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (north plainfield nissan, 545 us 22, north plainfield, nj 07060) where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module failed and the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle could be traded in or repaired at the owner's expense. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 89,000. updated 10/05/17*lj *tr
My pathfinder stopped defrosting/heating when the vehicle is idle. this is a symptom of the well known cracked radiator problem that leads to transmission failure in many 2005-2010 pathfinders at around 95,000 mileage. the safety concern is that i like many others have to get to work on time and end up driving these vehicles without the windows being properly defrosted. this causes clear vision issues and increases the probability of getting in an accident, a major safety concern. for this reason, i would seriously consider instituting a recall to replace the radiators.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. while driving various speeds, the transmission slipped and the vehicle overheated. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who would not diagnose the vehicle. the contact then took the vehicle to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a cracked radiator that caused fluid to leak into the transmission. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the failure mileage was 83,200.
Now on our 2nd radiator/transmission issue with our nissan pathfinder, the original repair was under warranty, but now experiencing same issues again. with both instances the car was being driven when issues occurred. fortunately, the location to the repair shop is close. our pathfinder is currently in a repair shop under going diagnostics.
I stopped at the gas station to get fuel. i turned the vehicle off and put gas in the vehicle. when i got back in the vehicle, it will not start.. i towed the vehicle to the nissan dealership in elizabeth city north carolina. after my vehicle was diagnosed it was determined that the internal cooler in the radiator burst and leaked transmission fluid in the radiator and antifreeze had leaked into my transmission. the tech explained that the antifreeze have cause the internal computer in the transmission to not function properly. he stated that the fuse kept blowing out. after speaking with the dealership they wanted to charge me $3000.00 dollars to replace the radiator and transmission. i explained to them that i had no warning signs at all. i was told by the tech to call nissan corporation for further detail. once i called the corporation, an investigation claim was initiated. she told me that some will contact me by monday (10/24/16). so now its like a wait and see game. i was told that the radiator had a warranty on it up to 100,000 miles of until 02/2017. i did explained to the tech that the failed part in the radiator caused my transmission to get damage.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. while parked, the vehicle failed to start. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was coolant leaking into the transmission, which caused transmission fluid and coolant to mix. the mechanic stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 117,687.
My pathfinder taking antifreeze inside of transmission fluid turning it to look like pepto bismol also my engine is taking in anti freeze also. there are recalls on this problem with their vehicles note my truck still run but it over heats tranny works too i've parked it for couple years now i haven't driven it to the point where it don't work.
The suv has always gone for service at the dealer and they never told us to watch out for the radiator passing water to transmision, and now that defective part has put water in my transmission it as damaged it.
Vehicle lost power, will not transmit power to the wheels, appears to be a highly complaint among all owners. transmission has failed in a heavy traffic area. fuel level sender is no longer working.
Enjoying our pathfinder one afternoon and went to pass a car and it would not kick inot passing gear. when we stopped i could smell that it was hot, but could not find a leak. after letting it cool, i checked the coolant level and found that grey froth in the radiator. a quick check on the internet lead me to me worst fear. i am still in the process of flushing radiator and getting quotes. local aamco guy said that transmission is doomed, and they see a lot of these. $4,000 - 4500 to rebuild. so much money for such an easy repair had i known before the radiator gave up. no more nissans for this family!
Check engine light appeared and i pull two p0717 codes indicating an issue with transmission control valve with tcm. took to shop and they found coolant mixed with transmission fluid requiring a transmission replacement.
On friday, august the 8th on the way to work on the interstate i accelerated going up a hill and the gear change in the transmission was extremely rough. it was like when a manual transmission is knocked out of gear, of course this vehicle is an automatic transmission. like a manual transmission being knocked out of gear the vehicle had a very quick deceleration although i as still pressing the gas pedal. this almost caused the car behind me to rear end me. eventually the vehicle acted like it went back in gear. when i exited off of the interstate, came to a stop at the end of the off ramp, and tried to accelerate the vehicle again acted like the motor was engaging but not the transmission, almost causing another rear end collision. i managed to get the vehicle to the parking lot at work. it set there for the day until i was leaving to go home. the vehicle would not start. the vdc and slip lights would come on when i attempted to start. i left the vehicle at work. i returned on saturday. i got a auto code from the vehicle of p0717 referring to the turbine speed sensor. i found the 10 amp a/t ecu fuse was blown. i replaced the fuse and the vehicle cranked but immediately blew the fuse again and would not start again if turned off. i left the vehicle and did some research finding the issue with the radiator fluid contaminating the transmission and causing the transmission to go out. my company mechanic and i looked at the vehicle on monday and found the radiator empty of fluid and the transmission fluid contaminated. someone is going to be severely injured id this issue is not brought to the owners of these vehicles. the vehicle is still sitting where i left it until i decide whether i am going to have to replace what i am sure is a bad transmission due to a faulty manufacturers design.
Check engine light came on and truck wouldn't shift into overdrive. pull code p0717 indicating the transmission sensor or computer was out. took to shop and they said the transmission cooling line in the radiator cracked, the transmission fluid was then mixed with antifreeze, and it fouled the transmission parts and knock out the computer. transmission had to be replace and the shop noted that nissan wouldn't warranty the transmission without replacing the radiator, which they knew had to be done anyway. they said they've seen sooo many of these it's ridiculous. $4,225.43 repair that could have been avoided if we'd just known to replace the $200 radiator.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle started to lose power. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence and later towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the radiator cracked and leaked water into the transmission, which caused the computer system, radiator, and transmission to fail. the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 135,000.
As a single father of three teenagers, i needed two vehicles with enough room and safety features to handle high school and college needs. i bought two pathfinders, a 2007 se and 2008 le, one for myself and one for my son (which would be passed on, etc). my decision was based on my previous experience with nissan products and my loyalty to the brand. however, i now have both pathfinders needing major repairs to their automatic transmissions. the 2008 pathfinder's transmission failed in very heavy houston traffic while driving with my younger son, which caused other vehicles to slam on their brakes and almost created a large pile-up on a major highway. while we avoided being killed by oncoming vehicles, we were also in danger as we moved the car to the side of the highway. after towing the vehicle to a reputable transmission shop, he found the issue to be a known problem with the coolant fluid leaking into the automatic transmission, causing total failure. estimates are over $6,000 for rebuilding or replacing the transmission with parts and labor, including the required addition of a "cooler" instead of the radiator. i attempted to file this with my car insurance but was denied coverage. now, the 2007 pathfinder is having the same symptoms with slippage and inability to use overdrive, which almost cause another multi-car pile-up in houston traffic until i was able to downshift and move aside. it's only a matter of time before the 2007 pathfinder transmission also fails completely, and i still owe $12,000 to the credit union on both loans combined. i attempted a loan for repairs through the transmission shop, but was denied due to bad credit from a lay-off last year. nissan, please issue a recall for those of us without hope and unable to buy a new vehicle. this is your chance to save lives and boost your brand to a higher level, through integrity.
3rd event. driving at highway speed, engine loses power, will not accelerate over 30 mph. on previous events reverse remained useful and vehicle recovered. taken to shop, told nothing could be found wrong and event did not recur on their test drive. continued to drive vehicle many months, no issue. this event, car would not reverse and was driven to the home of my family where i was ending my vacation. now stranded 4 hours from home. called out from work tomorrow to research and decide what actions to take.
Car would not start. local mechanic could not figure out why. towed 30 miles to dealership. was told coolant leaked into transmission and would need to completely replace transmission at a cost of $5,000. nissan knows this is an issue, however the mileage is too high for them to help me out at all.
Radiator defect, that nissan has known since 2012, class action suit, for pathfinders and xterras leaked fluid into transmission blowing my transmission. nissan replaced transmission and radiator but charged me $3,000 as co-pay. nissan has been aware of this issue for a while and yet never subject of recall nor were owners notified of this engineering defect of the radiator. nissan refused to indemnify me for the co-pay claiming i was lucky i got that from them. when questioned as to why these radiators were never recalled, they refused to respond and stated they were under no obligation to notify owners of this defect. my transmission and radiator went while i was driving the vehicle causing my car to swerve almost resulting in an accident. this is an extremely dangerous defect it is absurd that the owners should have to pay anything because of this radiator that was engineered defective.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle vibrated severely from the front end of the vehicle multiple times without warning. the vehicle was driven to a mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission fluid leaked into the radiator. the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 107,000.
Anti freeze leak into transmission.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the vehicle independently shifted gears and stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the radiator fluid mixed with the transmission fluid and caused the transmission to become inoperable. as a result, the transmission and the radiator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 135,000. the vin was unavailable.
We purchased a 2007 nissan pathfinder from carmax in pompano beach fl in 2012, during that time the car had 55,000 miles on it. we ask for the history of the vehicle and was told that everything was good with no issues, however a few years later i was driving and my car became inoperable with my 3 children in the car when i took it to the mechanic he expressed to me that this was a common issue with this particular vehicle and that there was even a lawsuit, but the company is not going to do anything. when i researched this information, it was discovered that these particular vehicles had an extended warrant on them up to 100,000 mile for a faulty radiator that leaks into the transmission ultimately destroying the transmission which was the case with us. we were out of a car for 2 months in a rental, maxed out the credit card up to 1,600 with a 4,000 dollar bill to repair the transmission. this was a tremendous financial hardship on the family. when i went to carmax and asked them why they did not disclose to us that there was an extended warranty, they had no real answer for me and stated that because the car was over 100,000 miles that they could not help me. i feel that carmax withheld information on this car and according to the state law it is required that they inform consumers of manufacture warranty on the vehicles. since that time the car has had additional breakdown and we can no longer pay for a vehicle that is not working properly.e trapped in a vehicle that was a lemon form the beginning.
Transmission is bucking and vibrating while in motion. i'm guessing i have month before it breaks down like all of the others.
I was driving when my nissan pathfinder 2007 out right when i got in the middle of in intersection my car just didn't want to go i was pressing on the gas and it would go it then it would start going again but wouldn't go faster then 20mph then again it would stop n wouldnt move i took it to a shop to get it checked out they told me my radiator failed and cause liquid to go into my tramission which cause that to fail ...so i called nissan about the recall i read about fail radiator and tramission they told me they couldn't help me
