Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that driver's seat height adjustor failed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the seat pan needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

I was driving home and i heard a loud pop and my drivers side seat fell into the drivers side door and i swerved into oncoming traffic. thankfully, there were no cars that were close and no accident occurred. i called the dealer in my town and found out it was going to cost $1400.00 to fix the issue. i called salvage yards and could only find a seat in a town 4 hours away so it would cost extra to have the seat shipped here ($300.00). in my research i found out it has been a common problem and decided to look to see if there had been a recall. i read all of the complaints on this same issue and others from this page and determined to take it to a local welder and have the frame welded based on the fact that the chair would break again even if the part had been replaced with a new or used part. the guy at the shop told me that the frame supporting the seat was paper thin. he could fix it and beef it up so that the problem would not happen again. it cost $159.00 to fix and at this time it is working quite well. i am saddened to find out that nissan will not stand by their product and fix this issue! i have told everyone i know so that they could pass on the information to friend's who have nissan's. i am afraid to continue to drive this car due to the other issues these cars have based on some of the complaints i have read on this site. *tr

While driving the driver seats bracket broke. very unsafe. seat wobbled and when coming to a stop the seat went forward. this is insane for s seat to just snap while driving on the highway. at 65000 miles a seat should not just brake like this did and when i brought it to the dealer they refused to fix because the warranty on the car was expired over mileage. this should be a nissan recall with all the complaints they have with the same issue. to fix this seat was 1,000.00. shame on you nissan. *tr

The left side of driver's seat is completely of the track/frame causing seat to not be secured and also causing seat to rock back and forth. *tr

While driving the driver seat rear seat lifter bracket, part 87473-ca00a broke. the part has been redesigned and is now part 87473ca01a. while the part was broke the seat had a lot of movement and tilted toward the driver door. it cost $579.48 to repair. *tr

Brought my nissan murano for water leak in the body seal, the car was delivered to me with a broken front drivers seat. the dealership denies breaking it and i didn't give it to them that way. i am being told it is a common problem with the year model and that nissan is aware and will not recall. i am considering legal advice. *tr

Bracket holding seat broke. i did not lose control of the car, but it did startle me. upon doing some research, there is an issue with 2003-2008 muranos and the seat bracket. the manufacturer has their head in the sand on this. there will be accident / loss of control at some point. *tr

Was driving on highway when the drivers seat fell back toward door. seat was not stable and rocked while driving. brought car in and was told the left front seat track was broken and needed to be replaced. *tr

2007 murano. front seat, front bracket broke at 59000 miles. front seat dropped to the left. heard this was an issue for many murano owners and is an expensive fix for something that seems defective. supposedly its usually the rear bracket of the front seat so now im just waiting on that. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated while parked, the front driver's side seat partially detached from the frame when the seat was occupied. also, whenever driving the seat would began to rock in a backward and forward motion. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who informed that the service warranty was expired. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 73,000.

Driver seat bracket/track broke suddenly. left rear corner now unattached and seat is wobbly and not secured. *tr

I was driving and the left side support on my seat just broke, causing me to be off balance, and i almost lost control of the vehicle. this is a major safety issue as someone sitting in a rocking chair isn't able to properly maneuver the steering wheel, since they pull on the wheel for stability when the chair support breaks. *tr

I got into my parked car and as soon i sat in the seat, the back left support of the seat base broke and dropped about 6 inches. the seat now rocks when you sit in it. this is a very big safety hazard for driving as there is no stability in the seat and moves around turns and over bumps. if i had been driving when this happened there surely would have been a crash. *tr

I got into my car to drive somewhere, and noticed that my seat was loose and shifting back and forth - from side to side. i thought that there was a loose bolt, and so i took the car to the dealership on 2/21, and i was told that it was a broken lifter assembly - and that the repair would be $625. i immediately asked if there was a recall because the definitely appeared to be a "safety issue", and i was told that there was not. i have done my research on line, and i see where this is and has been a very common complaint for several years, for what appears to be for models 2003 thru 2007, at least. i found pages and pages of complaints from many people. we all have the same opinion that this is a manufacturers defect, and should be repaired at the expense of nissan. i have owned many different models of cars in my lifetime, and a seat breaking in this manner has never happened. my husband is a firefighter, and his first response was concern that the way the seat shifts now, could cause a seatbelt to injure or possibly decapitate a person during a car crash. he has seen many unusual things happen in his career, so i don't believe this is far fetched from the reality of something terrible to happen to a person driving their car with a broken driver's seat. i was prepared to pay for a bolt to be replaced, not to have to pay for my seat to be completely repaired, in order to keep me and my family safe. a seat should be made to endure the day in and day out of the weight of people - large and small, for the life of the vehicle. i am under 200lbs, and my husband is 250lbs. we bought the car with the mindset that it would be strong and durable to last for many, many years to come, without the worries that our seats could break so easily. thank you for your time. *tr

The rear mount point for the driver's seat has snapped. this causes the driver's seat to become unstable and rock back and forth while driving. *tr

Went to adjust drivers seat and heard a noise and realized i couldn't move seat after that. when ever i hit a bump in the road the seat would hit hard as if the spring was not longer there. track broke and whole seat had to be replaced. i replaced with a used seat and now one year later (1/12/15) the track on this seat has broken again. i would like to be reimbursed the $584 from last years fix and get a new seat this year as this has not been fixed yet. *tr

Drivers seat rail is broken and rocks back and forth. *tr

Driving down the road at 45 mph and heard a snapping noise and felt my drivers seat wobble. was able to pull into the parking lot of my grandson's school and got out of the car and noticed that my drivers seat was titled to the left and rocking back and forth. had the car towed to the dealership and was told that the steel frame of the seat needed to be completely replaced. fortunately for me that i did not have an accident where i could have seriously been injured or worse yet that i injured someone else. the cost for the repair was $1450. i contacted nissan customer care who for assistance with funding of this repair and was told that seats are only warranted for 3 years and they were unwilling to provide any monetary assistance. i do not consider this as being normal wear and tear of a vehicle and am extremely disappointed that nissan is not willing to stand behind their product. i appealed this decision with nissan customer care and they are still unwilling to assist me with funding. what a shame, they have certainly lost a valued nissan customer. checking the internet, specifically your website nhtsa, it appears that there have been an extreme large number of complaints of the murano drivers seats breaking. why has this issue not been defined as a factory defect and a real safety issue. how many complaints will it take, to make nissan to issue a recall. someone needs to do something and am hoping that nhtsa will do an investigation and force nissan to take this issue seriously. a car with only 69 thousand miles on it and 7 years old should not need a drivers seat replaced unless involved in an accident. hope to hear something favorable in the near future. not that this matter, but i am a senior us citizen and i do not intend to be treated in this manner, nor should anyone else. please help *tr

Broken seat frame. while approaching a red light the driver's front seat had a snapping sound and i began leaning toward the left. seat now rocks and leans toward the left. *tr

While backing out of our garage. my wife heard a noise like something broken and the seat immediately shifted to the left. now the seat wobbles and now leans to the left, the vehicle is not safe to drive. you do not have total control of the vehicle while the seat wobbles when you drive. after my inspection the rear cross support arm is broken where it mounts to the left track assembly. i am a service manager in the automotive industry. i am involved in factory recalls at the dealership. i can not understand why this issue has not been defined as a factory defect and a real safety issue. nissan needs to correct this issue before this results in a casualty. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that while entering the vehicle, the driver's seat frame weld became fractured, causing the seat to fall backward. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where the contact was informed that the frame needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the failure mileage was 82,000. ..updated 12-30-13 *bf the consumer was informed by the manufacturer that the vehicle was out of warranty therefore the case was closed. the manufacturer would not assist with any repairs. updated 1/22/2014 *js

The very common issue of the driver's side seat broke and is not properly adhered to the frame of the car. this possesses a vital threat to operating this vehicle. i would ask that this be considered for a recall from nissan as this is a huge safety issue for murano owners. *tr

The driver's seat frame mount snapped, causing seat to shift, which in turn caused the driver to shift resulting in vehicle swerving into adjacent lane. drive was able to take corrective action, avoiding head on collision. *tr

Driver's seat frame broke/snapped while driving approximately 40 mph on a surface street. upon inspection, the entire seat was wobbling and not sturdy. vehicle was taken immediately to dealer and was subsequently informed by the manufacturer that this was not covered under warranty. *tr

My driver seat has broken to the point where it rocks back and tilts forward. it looks like the rear/left side bracket that holds the seat to the floor has broke. the seat will randomly shift around while driving. i feel the seat would not hold me properly in a accident. *tr

Driver seat anchor failure driver seat collapsed towards driver door while driving from pa. to fl. on i-95. loud pop under seat when incident occurred. i will have it repaired before i return to pa. according to your bulletin: nhtsa / pe 08065. the number of complaints are high but you closed this issue on 7/2/09. if you look further you will find this problem has been going on since 2005 with only several accidents reported. no fatalities yet. please check the arfc web site for another 267 complaints. this finding needs to be reopened and is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. had i not reacted swiftly while in motion i would not be sending you this complaint, my attorney would with a copy to my congressman and nissan. *tr

Turning a corner on parking lot. heard a lot pop and my seat collapsed, shifting me into the driver's side door. the seat fell to the floor and rocks every time i drive over uneven pavement and/or makes turns. i almost control of my vehicle when this happened. *tr

The seat based weld failed on the left rear corner causing an unsafe condition. in researching this issue, there are many, many similar incidents reported on the web. this should be a recall condition as it renders the vehicle unsafe to drive. i shudder to think what would happen if my 17 year-old new driver was in an accident...the seat could easily break loose. *tr

The drivers seat bracket failed prematurely. the drivers seat broke towards the back left corner closest to the passenger door and the seat currently rocks corner to corner. the welding of the frames cross member snapped apart while in park, right before putting the vehicle in drive. this issue could have happened while driving and is a huge concern and apparently (according to others online) is a common defect/flaw of the 2003-2007 muranos. *tr

While driving to work i heard a loud pop inside the car and all of a sudden the drivers seat leaned to the back left and i had to brace myself and the car from swerving. as i continued to drive the seat kept rocking side to side on the left . when i got to work and parked i noticed the seat was tilted and lose. this is extremely dangerous to anyone driving as i almost got into an accident when bracing myself as a result of the seat breaking. this is a serious safety issue that needs to be repaired by nissan. *tr

Left rear support for driver's seat failed while driving causing seat to lean back--this is dangerous. *tr

I purchased my 2007 murano in august 2011. from the date of purchase, i've had multiple issues. the brakes have been a constant issue, i've had to replace the front struts (before 60,000 miles) and was told that i need to replace the rear shocks as soon as possible, the driver side visor is broken, 2 months ago it began leaking oil for some unknown reason, and now the front seat is broken, causing the left hand side of the seat to 'float'. i weigh 140 lbs so it's not like i've caused any undue stress on the seat. the vehicle currently has 70,000 miles. i cannot afford to make all the repairs - but cannot sell it until i do make them (who in their right mind wants to purchase a car that needs $2500 poured into it for repairs, with new issues occurring on a regular basis). it's a shame that nissan can produce something of such poor quality and not be forced to stand behind their product. this is the worst car i've ever owned. if i can ever get rid of this it i'll never own another nissan. *tr

I was driving my murano today when all of a sudden i heard a loud pop and then my seat began to rock. the left frame on the driver's side had broken and i did not think this was possible. i see from this website that there are many other murano drivers out there that this is happened to and that they have contacted nissan and they didnt care! this is a major safety issues and it this problem needs to be recalled and fixed! this is totally unacceptable and nissan should be ashamed! they are putting our lives and others are risk! heaven forbid that the right side of the frame go. i am calling nissan tomorrow! there should be a class action suit against them! i will never buy another nissan again! they should not make the consumer responsible for their shotty work and they should fix it for free! *tr

Driver seat is broken, seat is rocking. no warning that the seat would give out. got in my car to go to work and noticed that the seat would move. it does not feel safe at all. *tr

Seat rail broke. *tr

Drivers side seat frame broke!! this is very dangerous and i see it has happened many times. there should be a recall. *tr

The driver seat has come de-welded and now the seat rocks. *tr

My wife got into the car to go out and heard a crack and the left rear side sitting dropped down, twisting the seat. *tr

Seat frame part failure. at first the seat leaned then within a few days broke. this must be a huge safety issue that can cause an accident if it breaks while driving or accident occurs before seat is fixed. i spoke to a few nissan dealerships who were all fully aware and have seen this same broken part often. nissan does not cover this part. i feel this should be recalled asap due to the safety issue. nissan should pay for this repair. *tr

I got in my car after work, started driving down the street, and i heard a loud pop sound (like a bar in the seat broke/popped) from the drivers seat of my vehicle. right afterwards my seat started rocking and leaning to the left. i pushed the electrical seat buttons to make sure the power was still working, but now the seat is rocking. *tr

While driving and making a turn, the driver's seat bracket failed causing the left rear of the seat to dip down and rock back and forth. the seat is now unstable and it is unsafe to drive the vehicle. upon doing some research online, i have read numerous complaints that nhtsa and nissan are aware that these seats are a problem and that previous concerns and requests for a recall on this issue have fallen on deaf ears. i think nissan should take responsibility for this manufacturing defect and fix these seats before someone is injured. *tr

The drivers seat left rear frame connector just broke. its a metal piece that supports the weight of the seat and connect to the seat track. now, my seat wobbles left and right and some front to back without the support. *tr
