Problems with 2007 Nissan Murano POWER TRAIN

I felt a vibration coming from my 2007 nissan murano and i took it to the dealer and they said they didn't feel it. took it back a second time and they said that they had overserviced the cvt(transmission) at a prior service interval. they said they reset the fluid level. took the car and it still vibrated... a week later i was pondering how to file a complaint. today i was heading to the airport when the car completely lost all power to the cvt. i was entering the highway and i felt the engine just rev up and the car wasn't moving forward with my foot on the gas pedal. a car almost slammed me in the rear end and i pulled over to the side of the road and called a tow truck and towed the car to the dealer. the dealership failed to recognize that the cvt should have been replaced and that there is also a recall on the cvt. this put me and anyone who was in my car in a dangerous situation where it could have ended up tragically if someone had hit me on the driver side if i was making a left turn and my car lost power. *tr

2007 nissan murano awd w/ 84k miles. took vehicle into nissan dealer service dept. in july for noises in engine area. diagnosed as bad wheel bearings on 1 side of vehicle cost $600.00. returned to dealer approx. 1 month later, again hearing noises coming from engine area. was again diagnosed w/bad wheel bearings on other side & was told replacement from 1 month prior was defective & needed replacement again. questioned dealer service dept. diagnosis, indicating that i also smelled either oil burning or some kind of fluid burning when driving. without further examination of vehicle, service dept. recommended a fluid flush, i indicated that the fluids had just been flushed 1 month prior, was told no other problems were indicated when vehicle was inspected earlier that day. smell of oil or fluid was dismissed by service dept. received a call later that day from service dept. indicating repairs to defective wheel bearing & second wheel bearing completed, car ready for pick up $400 bill. picked up vehicle @ approx. 5:30 pm. as i drove home there was a good amount of traffic & vehicle speed did not exceed 30 mph for majority of trip. upon clearing of traffic & further acceleration to approx. 45 mph, there was an extremely loud bang that came from what sounded like the engine area of my vehicle, accompanied by a dragging & grinding sound coming from the bottom of my vehicle bringing my vehicle to a quick stop. it sounded like the bottom of my vehicle fell off. i managed to pull vehicle over to safety & next day had vehicle towed back to dealer. i was then informed by dealer that the transfer case on my vehicle had broken, that the vehicle was beyond the warranty & the repair cost is $3,400. this may be a problem in the awd model. there are many similar incidents posted on the internet. this part is defective & needs investigation, had i been on a highway when this happened the outcome could have been catastrophic, please help! don't wait until a true tragedy occurs. *tr

Purchased used 2007 nissan murano 6/25/2010 with 27,000 miles drove on highway and had acceleration problems and high pitched noise from engine above 60,000 miles nissan brown's sterling va says it is under warranty and has parts on order. very dissatisfied with this purchase. dealer service said not dangerous to drive but it obviously is when the care won't accelerate and jerks forward. *tr

My 2007 murano has begun stalling and lurching forward in traffic. it just started doing this within the last couple of days, but it was very scary as i was almost hit because i could not control how the car was reacting in the middle of an intersection after coming to a stop, i began to accelerate and the car stopped quickly, as though i had stepped on the brake - then it accelerated quickly, as though i had stepped hard on the gas pedal. luckily, i was able to control the car. however, it has done the same thing 3 other times within 24 hours. all of them occur when the car is stopped or moving very slowly. i was almost hit in the intersection because i could not control the car. *tr

There was a distinct clicking coming from the front area of the car as i accelerated. went to the dealer and was told there was debris in the transmission and the entire transmission would have to be replaced. *tr

In february 2008 during an oil change, fluid leak was discovered between cvt (transmission) and transfer case. on 2/5/08 dealer made first attempt to repair. they stated that some cvt bolts were loose and were tightened. vehicle was return to me as fixed (mileage 11303). on 5/12/08, vehicle went back to dealer for scheduled 15k maintenance where they found it still leaking. new transfer case was ordered and vehicle went back in for installation on 5/15/08. on 6/10/08, during a 3 week vacation in british columbia, canada, vehicle suddenly lost power on the highway during busy commute traffic and made clunking noises. pulled off highway and called nissan n.a. and towed to nissan dealer in victoria. dealer determined that due to human error, propeller (drive) shaft was not properly tightened down during transfer case install and had fallen off the car. vehicle repaired and expenses reimbursed by dealer in california. in march 2009, oil change again revealed transfer case leaking. dealer attempted to replace tc seal but found tc damaged due to missing vent tube. dealer replaced with another transfer case on 3/9/09. this is a known issue common with awd muranos. i have persistently checked for signs of leaks. other owners have not been as diligent and have experience numerous failures during operation on the road. this is a danger as vehicle will stall and fail on the road. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that the fuel sending unit failed on december 7, 2007. on december 22, 2007, while driving approximately 20 mph in cold weather, the vehicle stalled in traffic. prior to the failure, the vehicle jerked. the vehicle restarted, but then stalled again. the contact was able to restart the vehicle, but it would not accelerate above 20 mph. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the transmission failed. on january 9, 2008, while driving approximately 70 mph in dry conditions, the vehicle would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. as a result, the vehicle jerked forward and threw the contact into the steering wheel. the contact bruised her chest. the interior lights dimmed and the radio shut off temporarily. the vehicle continually lost power and would only shift into low gears. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they replaced the fuel pump on january 11, 2008. a few days later, the check engine light illuminated and she smelled a strange odor. the fuel gauge went from three quarters of a tank to a full tank. the speedometer began to display inaccurate readings and the vehicle began to lose power. the vehicle was towed back to the dealer on january 20, 2008 and they stated that the fuel sending unit failed again. the current mileage was 6,900 and failure mileage was 5,200.

While gently applying brakes, the vehicle sometime lunges forward and the brake pedal must be pressed harder to continue slowing at the same rate. a nissan area technical representative drove the vehicle with me. i told him he was stopping too quickly to notice the problem. i never could get him to try it while stopping gently. it may be a situation related to the cvt transmission disengaging from engine braking and only happen on while downhill braking. *tr

When i stopped completely (i.e., stop sign, stop light, etc.) i could mash the accelerator to the floor and the car would only go about 2 mph. *tr
