Driver's seat rear tube is broken on left side after 82 kmiles of normal driving on paved roads only, mostly highway. both drivers weigh less than 190 lbs. material strength / thickness is insufficient for the loads the tube needs to carry at that location. the whole seat (cushion and backrest) rotates up/down about the front and to the left approx. 4-5 inches when the backrest is pushed lightly toward mid car direction. this is a major safety issue. it's surprising that the seat passed fmvss 208/301 (dynamic front and rear crash tests) during dv and pv. ok so new carefully assembled seat frames must have passed those tests, but isn't nissan also responsible to ensure the built-in seat safety factor is high enough to overcome manufacturing tolerances and fatigue issues from normal driving for production seat frames such that under a front or a rear crash event the seats actually do provide some protection and at least do not increase the danger to the driver and the passengers? this is faulty engineering. there are many cases for pre-2008 model murano with this problem on the internet and, i assume, in your database. to ensure nissan and other vehicle manufacturers design for fatigue, manufacturing tolerances and/or quality, nhtsa should prompt a safety recall. customers should not have to pay >$1000 to fix a seat that nissan pays less than $150 to assemble in the vehicle, as this would be equivalent to rewarding and supporting faulty engineering. *tr
Got in 2006 nissan murano and sat on driver's seat when the seat collapsed to the left side and rear of the seat. had this happened while driving it could have been very startling and cause a collision. i took it in to nissan dealer where i bought it. they said they had seen and repaired several others. they indicated on the receipt that "found that the seat frame had broken on the weld on the left rear of the seat. removed and repaired seat and welded the frame back together". *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that the front passenger side seat detached from the rail. also, the contact mentioned that the control arms and motor mounts were replaced several times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the seat assembly needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 72,000.
While driving on the freeway, my drivers seat mounting bracket broke (left rear bracket mount weld). this caused me to cross the lane and almost side swipe another vehicle. nissan will not cover and has no recall for this obvious safety issue. i am now forced to drive a vehicle which rocks back and forth while operating it. this is an identified manufacturing flaw and should have an immediate recall, before a fatality occurs!!!
I own a 2006 nissan murano and today as i was turning onto a busy freeway (with 2 of my grandchildren in the car) , my driver's side seat came loose from the floor of the car. this is definitely not acceptable for a car that has only 53,000 miles on it. i reviewed your website and saw hundreds of complaints about this. i noticed that nothing has been done. is this because there were no deaths or injuries? i would hope a recall is issued before somebody has blood on their hands. are you anywhere near a recall on this safety issue? *tr
Broken seat frame, and sun visor falls down randomly while driving. *tr
The driver's seat jammed in one position and will not move forward or backward. took vehicle to a nissan dealer and was told that the weld on the frame broke and because they could not warrant welding it i would have to replace the entire frame, which included all motors and electrical components and the cost would be $1,400. i thought the cost was astronomical for something that should have never happened. i did not have it repaired, but now obviously my concern is that the seat may break away from the frame completely and cause a serious accident. after my wife and i went online and viewed so many complaints about the same problem, i feel that nissan should be responsible for the repairs. there have been too many similar incidents for this not to be considered a safety default!
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano sel. while driving 20 mph the drivers seat metal track failed and the seat became unstable. he was able to drive onto the side of the road. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who located the failure at the bottom of the seat track which had part number 87450ca09a. report 6917856 was filed with the manufacturer. the vehicle was repaired. the failure and the current mileages were 41,000.
While driving at highway speeds about 3 weeks ago my seat (drivers seat) suddenly sloped into the driver side door. pulling over i discovered that the bottom left rear corner of main seat bracket broke off in two places. the problem was corrected by having a body shop weld the pieces together with additional support metal. *tr
Driver's side left rear seat hinge broke in two pieces. no extreme wear or tear done to this seat, and the metal broke. the consequences of this problem are obvious, if ever in an accident or simply normal driving, the safety of the seat is compromised. nissan charges around $1000 to have this repaired. seat brackets should never fail, especially not in the numbers being reported. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that the front drivers seat rocks from left to right and she was able to pull it near the door and lift it up. nissan was contacted and stated that the repairs would be $580.00, and they would take $250.00 off of the cost. when she took the vehicle in for repairs the mechanic stated that the original diagnosis was incorrect and the repair cost would be over $900 and the parts would need to be ordered. the vehicle was currently at the owners home. the current and failure mileages were 103,000.
Drivers seat on my nissan murano has broken loose from the frame. this is a serious safety issue. *tr
I own a 2006 nissan murano. the driver seat ha broken 2x now. last time it almost caused a accident. can we not get this problem fixed before someone is killed or seriously hurt? *tr
The driver's seat is loose tilts back and to the left when i sit in it. took it in and was told that it was a broken "lift assembly". the repairs would cost $1200. this is a severe safety issue, that should never happen. my murano has never been in an accident and only has 52,888. when i called nissan they said she had never heard of it?!?!?! sure.... there are over 135 complaints on here, and many of them had nearly had accidents. what does it take for nissan to step-up and take action for their poor engineering?!? ridiculous! *tr
I have 2006 nissan murano and i went into my car and was getting ready to go to work, i sat in my car and when i put on my seat belt i felt that my driver seat shift to the left and was very loose and constantly moving as i was driving. i took it to the dealer and i was told that the seat is broken and that it cost about $500 for the parts alone. *tr
Power seat support bracket on nissan 2006 murano broken. when driver sets in seat the seat tilts to the left. bracket looks very light duty for a average driver. *tr
Add me to the list of 2006 nissan murano owners who have issues with the drivers seat frame/bracket/anchor/rail that breaks or fails. our vehicle was actually in an accident prior to the failure and initially we were told that it was due to the accident. however the local nissan shop guru indicates that it is not related to the accident. the extended warranty that was purchased of course does not cover this even though there is a picture of the seat on the brochure. like others have been told $1000+ to repair. i would hope that the nhtsa would re-open their investigation as it was closed on 7/2/09 and it appears this issue takes a couple of years to manifest. out of the 108 complaints registered 23 were prior to the date the investigation was opened 11/18/08, so 85 were after that or more than three times the number of complaints. my hope is that they re-open the investigation due to ongoing complaints relating to an obvious safety issue. why does someone have to die or be seriously injured before something is done. isn't the objective to identify an issue before it is too late and have the manufacturer fix the problem. clearly nissan is not motivated despite the numerous complaints. is that because they sold over 500,000 1st generation muranos(it is not just the 2006 model that has these issues). so if it is $1,000 per repair on a recall at 500,000 units the total price tag is 500 million dollars for this fix. well no wonder why this has yet to be recalled. that is really the bottom line i believe. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated the driver seat began to independently tilt from left to right. the dealer advised that the driver seat track had fractured. the dealer stated the failure was common in his year, make and model. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 38,000.
Driver's seat left side link and motor assemblies have failed resulting in seat tipping sideways from left to right when turning right. the shoulder and lap belt locks to the now moving seat resulting in an unsafe condition should the vehicle be involved in an accident. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the drivers side seat metal bracket was broken. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed him that it would cost him $1300 for the repairs. there were no recalls or warranties. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 53,000. . updated 03/03/11 *bf the consumer stated the seat rocks drastically side to side and up and down as he turns the vehicle or hits a bump in the road. the consumer was informed a new seat frame would cost $ 1500 updated 05/06/11
Power drivers seat on 2006 nissan murano has failed. seat stuck in twisted position when engine started causing a safety issue if driven. car cannot be safely driven with seat in this position. seat bracket with motors was replaced to correct problem. *tr
My wife was driving our 2006 nissan murano when she swerved to avoid hitting a deer. the driver seat, which wobbles, leaned freely to the right and caused my wife to lose control of the vehicle and go into the ditch. luckily, she was not injured and the car was able to be driven out of the ditch. this issue with the seat has been well known and documented as a severe safety hazard yet nothing has been done about it. the seat now constantly wobbles and leans forward and to the right when making a left turn. it makes the vehicle feel very unstable and unsafe. the local nissan dealer said a new bracket would need to be installed, which will cost approximately $1000. *tr
2006 nissan murano drivers seat broke and has separated from the track, therefore allowing the seat to tilt side to side with any turn. nissan does not want to admit there is a problem with the seat but apparently there is a problem with this seat breaking in the murano. i have asked them to split the cost with me and they refuse to do so. with all the info out on the internet associated with this problem i think they should be forced to do a recall and admit the problem. *tr
I recently purchased a 2006 nissan murano sl.the drive seat frame i s broken. whenever i take a turn the seat lifts as the frame is broken. i complained to nissan dealer from whom i bought the car. they said they will replace the parts when i purchased the car. but its been 2+ weeks ,they still waiting on parts. i don't think they going to replace it. as this issue is very common among all muranos ,i am filing this complain. *tr
Drivers seat in my 2006 murano came loose from it's mounting saturday while driving down the highway. it is like the seat came loose from the outer mounting bracket. when i transfer my weight to my left, while sitting in the drivers seat, i can feel the seat tip sideways to an alarming degree. when i make a left turn, i feel like the seat is going to roll right out of the drivers door. very unsettling. i took the car today to my nissan dealer. the dealer was familiar with the problem. told me a bracket had snapped under the seat and that the "seat adjuster assembly" needed to be replaced. cost: $1200 including labor. this seems outrageous on several levels, not the least of which appears to be a major safety flaw in the materials used to hold that seat in place. i was advised by service writer not to drive the car, as the seat could break off and roll backwards while i am driving. fyi, the vehicle has been driven normally without any off roading, ever. i weigh 190 pounds, so i'm not huge. i'm shocked that there hasn't been a recall on this. i googled the problem today and found an active community of disgruntled murano owners with similar experiences. i think your organization should look into this problem. *tr
I was driving my 2006 murano s model when suddenly the driver seat lurched down to the left. it had a broken weld in the seat frame. the current mileage was approximately 56,000. i would hope that a new investigation can be initiate. that is a serious safety issue. *tr
The seat in my nissan murano while i was turning the seat just broke and sent me shifting and moving to the left. now my seat rocks and doesn't feel secure when turning. if that was to break during an accident it could send the person to fly out. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. while driving approximately 40 mph, the contact heard the squeaking noise and a pop sound from the driver's seat. the seat then broke, pushing her toward the steering wheel and injuring her as well. the contact called the dealer and was told that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was approximately 74,000.
Drivers side seat frame snapped completely in half. this is the basic structure of the car and should not break with no reason. this car has never been in any accidents. the seat is very loose and therefore very unsafe. it could lead to an accident or cause excessive injury if an accident occurred as there is no support to keep the seat from moving. this is very unsafe and seems to be a factory defect. *tr
Seat broke had welded no 4 cylinder ran lean had to replace piston melted ran out of oil no warning light. *tr
I have a 2006 nissan murano. for the past few weeks there was a squeak in my car, i thought it might be my seat. all of a sudden this morning, i got in and my drivers seat was leaning to the left. took it to the dealer and they want $1100 to fix it, says it is not covered under their warranty. they said that the seat frame is broken. *tr
Similar complaint re: driver's seat on 2006 nissan murano. i recently purchased the car used (1 month ago). the seat, automatically adjusts for the driver when the vehicle is turned on and has been operating without concern. today, the driver's seat came off track without warning, now leans way to the left and is extremely unsafe. i drove it home and will take it to dealer tomorrow. i did call nissan re: recall and was informed there was no recalls on this vehicle despite the hundreds of similar complaints. i intend to do what i can to ensure it is addressed by nissan and the repairs made. *tr
Operating my 2006 nissan murano on the roadway when there was a sudden pop and snap noise from beneath the drivers seat. fortunately i was able to maintain control and was not involved in a collision. the drivers seat know is loose and tilts to the left and is very unsafe, especially when cornering. i went to a local nissan dealership and was told that the seat rail had broken and needed to be repaired at a cost of $1200.. upon further investigation i learned that i am among many people who have experienced this broken seat rail syndrome. there is obviously a defect in the bracket which needs to be investigated and a corrective notice issued to nissan of ma. *tr
2006 nissan murano. the driver seat track just broke and the seat wobbles when i drive. *tr
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) i have a nissan murano 2006, as you already acknowledge that, thousand of customers had problem with the seat on driver side and i'm one of them. this is so pathetic engineering design and nissan didn't step up for a recall. it happened when i was driving and almost had an incidence. should we look at it as safety circumstances and make nissan responsible for what they have built. thanks and wait for your respond. you can contact me at[xxx] *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that when traveling at any speed, the front driver seat would independently shift from left to right. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the seat would need to be re-welded. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 44,000 and the current mileage was 49,000.
Driver seat on 2006 nissan murano dropped and shifted abruptly causing me to temporarily loose control and cross the center line into oncoming traffic on highway 15 in virginia. luckily i was able to regain control and get back into my lane before a collision. subsequent examination of the seat revealed a hinged connecting member at the rear left section of the seat frame of the 10 way power driver's seat had failed causing the seat to fall and shift to the left. frederick nissan identified part number 87450-ca66a as needing to be replaced to fix the seat. the problem was reported to nissan america and was not considered a safety issue. *tr
2006 nissan murano, drivers seat broke at left rear rail attach point. the seat now leans to the left and can be pulled up by hand. the support bolt that attaches the seat is broken, the dealership quotes $1200 to repair/replace and it could happen again with a new one. not covered by nissan, there are over 500 complaints 2003-06 murano's on your site. how can a loose seat not be a safety issue? *kb
The driver's seat began to feel loose and rock when i was driving and slowing down (driving approximately 25 mph). the seat rocks when i get into car and when i turn and slow down. *kb
I have a nissan murano 2006 that the drivers seat bracket suddenly broke while driving causing the seat to lean toward the door. every time you turn the car it forces to seat belt to lock in place caused by the sudden movement. estimate of repair $1060.00. *tr
On my 2006 nissan murano se the driver's side seat is like a rocking chair. it appears that one of the brackets broke underneath. i took it to a nissan dealership who confirmed the problem and then nissan corporate said they would do nothing to fix the problem. i have found that hundreds of murano owners have had the same problem and this is a really safety concern but i fear that nissan will only do something once someone dies from it. *tr
The drivers' seat in our 2006 nissan murano came un-welded. this failure was not due to any out of the ordinary use as this vehicle is a daily driver. we had approximately 80k miles on the car when suddenly our seat started to rock back and forth in a caddy corner motion. dealer said he had seen about 60 of these in the last few months and offered no complimentary part for replacement. we purchased the 100k mile extended warranty so we only had to pay $50.00 to have it fixed. seriously though, a seat coming un-welded? makes my stomach sick to know that this is still an issue as well as the thought of what if... please look into this issue and make nissan correct this issue with an otherwise trouble-free car. *tr
2006 nissan murano sl drivers seat motor failed in car with 30,000 miles on it. as a result, i cannot reach the gas or brake pedal. i have been able to use pillows to get me to the pedals. i filed a complaint with nissan in july 2010 and also in june 2011. research on car forums shows this is a common defect. the part needs to be replaced - estimate is $1200. nissan should issue a recall on these seats. *tr
2006 nissan murano sl awd drivers seat has broken and now "rocks". auto repair store estimates cost to repair at close to $1000.00. internet search shows this is an ongoing problem with nissan murano. *tr
My 2006 nissan murano driver side seat frame assembly has broken on the left side causing the seat to move around. *tr
I have a 2006 nissan murano with 29k miles. while driving in normal conditions i felt a pop in my driver's seat and heard a metallic sound from under the seat. from that point forward the driver's seat has felt unstable and would move freely during turns and normal acceleration/braking. this incident seems common based on an internet search and is referred to as a back-left leaning problem. a technical bulletin was issued but no recall. this seems extremely unsafe and should be treated as a manufacturing design defect. *tr
Driver's seat wobbles and is unstable when raised to comfortable driving height, does not appear to be attached in back left corner. *tr
My 2006 murano driver seat broke while driving. it leans very far to the left when turning. this is a very dangerous situation. it is a reasonable expectation that a seat would stay attached to a vehicle for the life of the car. nissan has declined to fix the seat. *cn
2006 nissan murano drivers seat and sun visor. my 2006 nissan murano has had two parts fail that i believe are a safety concern and warrant a recall. the 1st part is the drivers seat. i'm not a large person but the left side seat bracket broke and now my seat rocks left and right. i can't raise the seat up and down because only the right side works. the seat also bounces up and down. apparently this is a very common problem with the murano and nissan's excuse is "wear and tear." seriously??? nissan offered to replace the driver's seat for $1000 +. the second part that has failed is the driver's sun visor. whenever i hit a bump, the sun visor swivels down and totally blocks the drivers view out the window. this is not safe. nissan offered to replace the sun-visor for $350. *tr
2006 nissan murano seat falls down and brackets break while driving down the road. i had my nissan murano power set fail while driving down the road the bottom section that is connected to the seat rail failed and caused me to go out of control when the seat leaned backwards i jerked on the steering wheel. very very big problem and i almost ended up in the oncoming traffic. *tr
