Driving through a bend in the road at approximately 40 mph and i heard a pop and felt the seat give to one side. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that the front driver's seat was not secured to the frame and remained in a tilted position due to the fractured seat mounting bracket. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
I was driving out of my neighborhood when i heard a loud pop under the drivers side chair. i can now lift my entire drivers side seat off of the right side of the track. after i did further research i found this is a common issue with 2003-2009 muranos. the metal bracket holding the seat onto the track breaks due to the metal being too thin. i have read well over 250 complaints on the same issue with muranos. nissan refuses to fix since a "campaign" (i.e. recall) has not been issues. i was quoted $1000 to fix the issue. this is a safety issue and irresponsible and negligent on nissan's part to not recall the muranos. i took my car to 2 nissan service centers and both managers knew about this issue and said its common problem. one even went so far to call the part "defective" yet nissan will do nothing about it. i can only assume this defective part is on other seats in the car. it?s a matter of time until a seat breaks and falls off the track while on the highway causing potential deaths. nissan is negligent and irresponsible. i will not buy another nissan. they do no stand behind their cars or have their consumer?s best interests in mind. there should be a recall on this issue based solely on safety issues. below is one of many complaint sites about this issue: http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2006/nissan/murano/seat. *tr
Metal frame holding seat to car has metal fatigue and has separated. *tr
Nissan murano 2006 with 80 thousand miles in great condition,no fender benders. two adult drivers use car .our weight 175 lbs and 140lbs. while driving on a main street under 40 mph (limit 45) , coming up to a traffic light, i noticed my drivers seat started to bounce while trying to stop. when the seat comes back down it gives a thumping sound. short time later when i arrived home a shocking feeling came over me after i saw my driver seat bounce loose with only a push of a small finger. i was scared that my life was in danger ,if i had to do an emergency maneuver due to a non secure seat even with seat belts. then i realized i could have placed other people in harms way by having my seat break off and flipping backwards and not being able to reach the brakes. a scary thought .i would never forgive myself if i harmed some one even to having an oem seat break loose. please recall or inspect all murano front seat frames. *tr
When i was driving my car, just reach to main road and heard a noise and driver seat bent down from left rear. look like driver seat frame is broken from left rear side and seat is going down on left and tough to drive. went to dealer he said you can't drive its safety concern. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the driver's seat frame became fractured and the seat began to rock back and forth. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed as being fractured from the track and needing to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 62,800.
Vehicle was traveling at approx. 30 mph when the front driver's seat gave way causing the driver to lean to the left hitting the left front door. driver was able to maintain control of said vehicle but became alarmed at the sudden nature of the event. it appears that a bracket supporting the seat broke. internet research and discussions with nissan customer service (local facility) is very aware of the seat problem. there have been numerous reports of failed brackets with the 2003-2009 murano. to date, i believe there have been no fatalities caused by the sudden breakage, but in i my humble opinion, it is just a matter of time. i am stunned that there has not been a recall. nissan should take the initiative and be proactive and have said vehicles fixed. *tr
Drivers side seat frame failure. chair became very wobbly and my wife almost crashed the vehicle. she had to stop the car, lower the seat to the very lowest to flatten out the wobble, then she was able to drive home. driving this was compromises her ability to sit up higher and see more of the road. very dangerous and nissan needs to take responsibility. replacement for the seat 1200-1800, just the frame alone is 800. this is ridiculous and dangerous. *tr
The driver's seat moves every time i stop or accelerate. nissan says it will cost 1300-1500 to repair. looking online this is a recurring problem with this car. the seat has been reported to actually break, causing the driver to end up in the backseat. mine hasn't done that yet. i feel this is a design defect that should be paid for by nissan, not me as this is not a typical repair that one can expect. this is a major safety risk and the car should be recalled! *tr
As i entered my vehicle i noticed that the driver seat was loose and could be easily lifted with one hand. on closer inspection i saw that the welding is broken on the seat frame assembly. i contacted nissan consumer and twice they informed me that there is nothing they can do about my situation because my warranty has expired. the local dealership quoted $2,476.68 plus tax to replace the driver side seat slide assembly and adjuster, along with the replacement of the plastic side finishers and nissan refuses to even consider offering assistance in payment. right now i'm driving with a piece of 2x4 and some screws to hold my seat in one position. this is not a light-hearted matter. nissan knows they are negligent and refuse to issue a recall on these seats. my most precious cargo is my 3 yr. old granddaughter. every time i buckle her in her car seat, i pray to god that there will not be a collision of any kind. this matter needs to be addressed now - not after an accident and/or death caused by the seat coming completely apart and me not being able to stop the car safely. my family does not want compensation following my granddaughter and/or i being hospitalized or killed. we need this matter to be addressed immediately for the safety of all drivers/passengers of this make and model car. *tr
There was a popping noise under my seat and then all of a sudden the driver's seat sagged to the back and left towards the drivers side door. i got out of the car and checked the seat. it rocks back and forth now because the bracket that holds the seat is broken. my seat literally falls all the way down to the car floor now. i decided to look this problem up online and i was astounded to see that there are literally thousands of 2006 nissan muranos with this exact same problem with the exact same signs and symptoms as what i had. what was even more incredulous to me was the fat that nissan hasn't put out a recall for this issue and expects the consumer to pay for the seat which apparently is going to cost me up to $1500 for the seat. this is a factory defect and nissan should put out a recall to fix this problem. it makes the car very hard to drive and can cause the drive to jerk to the left when the seat lunges backwards possibly causing a serious accident. on the news today there was a recall for a child's item that only had 6 complaints and they recalled it. nissan has had thousands of complaints and nothing. *tr
Weld broke on driver seat adjuster assembly (bracket/frame). apparently, a very common problem. *tr
I was getting out of my nissan murano to pick up my child from school. when i got out i heard a strange pop/crack noise and the seat was titled to the left back. i opened the back door and looked under the seat and found that there was a piece of metal that had broken. this caused the seat to fall backwards and to the left. i was unable to drive it until i found a plastic cup tall enough to hold up the back left corner of the seat so i was able to drive us home. i'm a single mother barely making it and cant afford a $1200 repair. especially when there are hundreds of the same complaint. the dealerships other complaints have stated that it is a common issue. this common issue, had i been driving would have caused a wreck and the manufacturer will take no responsibility. i purchased this used and now i know why the prior two owners got rid of it. i also was under the impression that nissan cared about the people purchasing their vehicles. i wanted a safe truck to transport my child. there needs to be a recall and nissan should replace the bracket free of charge knowing that this is an issue. *tr
I had just stopped my vehicle and opened the driver's door, to exit. as i began to exit, the back left corner of the driver's seat collapsed. i removed the seat control panel and observed the metal seat frame had broken. note: this is the second time, in the exact same location, this has happened in the past 4 months. the first time the nissan dealer where i purchased the car offered to weld it for just under $500.00 dollars or replace the frame for just over $1300.00 dollars. additionally, i purchased a "certification" with the vehicle when i bought it used (2009 with 7900 miles) and the certification, although still active, does not cover this part. if i had purchased a "gold" certification, it would have be covered. i opted to go to a local, full service auto body shop where it was welded for $150.00. i re-contacted the same local nissan dealer again and they offered to research the incident and attempt to help. two days later i was contacted and told that the local nissan consumer affairs representative denied covering any part of the repair. the nissan store then offered to pay 50% of the replacement cost citing my customer loyalty (purchasing 5 cars from them an another 3 from their group). *tr
My wife was driving about 40 mph and suddenly she heard a click and the driver seat sank to the rear left. the car went to the next lane but likely no one was close. my wife was able to take control back and put the car in lane. when she returned home, i checked the seat and it was broken at the rear left. quick check on internet and i found that it was a common problem with the murano. to my shock, there was an investigation but no recall was called. my wife was very close to an accident. if she was doing 55 mph on the crowded highway, we would have a different story to tell. does someone has to die for a recall!! *tr
as i was driving down the road i heard loud snap and the seat saged to the left. the left side of the seat is now considerabley lower that the right side and you can wobble the seat quite a bit, it no longer feels like it is attached to the car very well. it seems this could be a seriuos problem in an emergencey situation! *tr
When making a left hand turn, i heard a crack underneath the driver's side. afterwards the seat now rocks back and forth and lifts up when making turns. i have searched all over the web and it seems this is a known defect with nissan drivers side seats on some of their vehicles to the point that they issued a technical service bulletin. i am very disappointed with the fact that nissan is not standing behind their products. i drive a 2006 nissan murano and it only has 51,000 miles on it. the issue appears to be with the seat bracket lifter link assembly. *tr
i purchased a 2006 nissan murano from a reputable car dealer in dallas, texas on december 5, 2012. on or about january 22,2013, i was driving down the road at the above mentioned speed and heard a loud metal cracking sound. after the cracking sound, the seat became unstable and kept shifting back and forth. i took the vehicle back to car dealer and they checked the driver front seat and informed they would order a part to fix the problem. in the meantime, they anchored the seat, but two days later, the seat came loose again and i inquired about the part they said they would order. the salesman told me it was on order because the part was not available. several days later the salesman contacted me and said he had bad news, that they didn't have the part in stock and would have to back order it. i waited for a week and then the same salesman contacted me and said the seat would have to be replaced in order to fix the defect or that i should take it to a nissan dealer and maybe nissan would pay for the repair. after said conversation, i returned to my office and looked up this defect and found numerous complaints regarding these seats coming loose in the 2006 nissan murano, iand 2007 nissan murano. further, in the numerous complaints that i reviewed, not only did the complaints include the front driver seat, but the passenger seat as well at a cost of over $1,000.00 per seat. i strongly feel that nissan is obligated to recall the 2006 nissan murano and the 2007 nissan murano for the safety of the public and the owners of these cars. . *tr
Drivers side front seat frame broke and the seat is loose and shifts side to side. this occurred when entering the vehicle when the vehicle was parked. this is an obvious defect and nissan should recall the 2006 murano for this issue. *tr
I sat down in the drivers seat, started to pull out of the parking lot and heard a cracking sound and felt the left rear of the seat drop down 1-2 inches. the seat rocks from side to side while driving. after looking in the area of the prior loud cracking sound, i found the left rear seat bracket is broken. this is very unsafe. there are hundreds of reports on the internet of this part failing in many years of the murano vehicle and an updated stronger part is now available. this has been an on going probelm with the murano and feel this type of incident should be the subject of a recall and repaired for no cost to the owner. *tr
I was turning and notice that my seat was moving. rocking motion and is not secure. *tr
There is a known fact that the drivers sear on the nissan murano (2006-2011) has an issue where the drivers seat was poorly constructed and the seat frame snaps around 80,000 miles. my seat broke while driving at about 50 mph down the street, almost making my wife crash the car. i have contacted nissan, and they offered to pay 50% of the $1600 repair. not fair to me at all. i have escalated the matter to the regional team, and they offered no more help at all. reading other customer complaints on the internet, it appears that nissan isn't admitting to the poor construction of the seat, but has since changed the construction of the seat in recent models to a better construction of the frame where it should not break. this same complaint is all over the internet; several videos have been posted in regards to exact same claims. *tr
I was driving with my cousin on our way to lunch when i heard a noise that sounded like i ran over a plastic bottle. i then learned that the drivers seat had broke. i called consumer affairs nissan at 1-800-647-7261 on january 3 2013. the customer service rep asked for my vin# to see if i was under warranty. once she located the info and found that my warranty expired i told her that i wanted to file a complaint against nissan. i didn't stop there i notified the bbb along with the attorneys general office and the nhtsa. i was told that because my warranty was expired i had to have 9 other people in my area who had the same issue come forward for there to be an investigation. it will be 3 months on the 28th of march that i'm still riding around with a broken seat. i did have the seat welded but it broke after 6 days. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact was driving approximately 55 mph when the front driver's side seat collapsed toward the driver's side door. the contact maneuvered to the side of the road and turned the engine off. upon restarting, the vehicle resumed with a fractured seat bracket. the vehicle was taken to an independent auto mechanic, who advised that the seat frame would need to be replaced. the technician welded the seat bracket back to the vehicle however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving approximately 72 mph, she heard a loud thump and the driver's side seat fractured and moved from left to right. the contact received injuries to her hip. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. after diagnosis, they advised her that the front driver's seat needed a new under carriage. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 118,000. the current mileage was approximately 121,000. the vin was unavailable.
I was pulling out of as parking lot with hot coffee in my cup holder. my mother was in the passenger seat and my 11 year old son was in the back seat. i heard a clunk and my seat jolted backward making controlling my vehicle extremely difficult almsot resulting in hitting a gas station sign and jutting out into a major roadway. the coffee spilled into my lap adding to the already severe problem. *tr
I was driving from work, when i heard a loud popping sound unknown where it was coming from so i pulled over to inspect my vehicle. as i exited my seat i notice that the driver side seat was leaning / rocking to the left side and apparently something had broken. i notified nissan corporation offices where i spoke to a customer service representative to see if it was a recall on this vehicle for the diver side seat. i was told that there were no recalls but take to the nissan dealer and have it looked at then do a follow up call with him afterwards. i then went on line and notices that it was thousands of people that were having the same problem that i was experiencing. i could not believe that there was no recall. this is most definitely a safety issued and i don't know what it is going to take before nissan realize it. *tr
While driving i heard a loud pop and the driver's seat shifted to the left almost losing control of the car i pulled over and the seat was loose at the base from the left side, at closer inspection the frame had separated and the metal framing had split. this issue seems too often with this vehicle the manufacturer should respond to these multiple issues and address. *tr
I sat down in the drivers seat and heard a cracking sound and felt the left rear of the seat drop down 1-2 inches. the seat rocks from side to side while driving. upon investigation i found the left rear seat bracket is broken. this is very unsafe. there are hundreds of reports on the internet of this part failing in many years of the murano vehicle and an updated stronger part is now available. i feel this type of incident should be the subject of a recall and repaired for no cost to the owner. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver seat separated from the frame. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin number was not vailable. the failure and current mileage was 94,000.
The driver's seat comes off the track that it is installed on- this creates quite a safety hazard for a driver as when they go around a corner their seat actually moves. i have seen numerous other complaints about this issue and have no idea why nissan has not done a recall and had the situation replaced or repaired. i'm not sure if the track the seat is on cracks or what occurs, but the seat comes off the track and is impossible to get back on- i have had repair estimates over $700 to fix this. it is certainly a safety issue for drivers and can impact their driving ability and possibly create an accident. *js
Heard popping sound on left side of driver seat a few days latter back left side gives way and seat rocks down. pulling seat off, found that rear bracket broke away from frame. in my opinion the rear bracket needs to be made of a stronger piece of steel or the size increased. have pictures of the damaged part. poor design and attachment. dangerous and unethical that nissan will not respond nor fix the problem. *tr
Front driver's side seat broke. it would lift on back left side. we noticed seat rocking from side to side. we thought maybe a bolt had broken? i took the car in to the dealership and they said the frame is bent/broken? and whole seat has to be replaced for $900. looking online it appears this happens quite frequently on nissan muranos. at that price i would chose to not replace the seat if i wasn't afraid that the seat will come off completely, sending me through the windshield. i am having it replaced next wed. i am disappointed in hearing that nissan is aware of this issue and hasn't issued a recall, they have only issued a service bulletin. it seems like a clear safety hazard and request it be looked into further. thank you *tr
While driving my 2006 nissan murano i noticed a popping noise under the drivers seat and suddenly felt the seat rocking. after pulling over the side of the road i looked under the seat and noticed the metal bracket under the left side on the seat assemble had failed. the seat now leans severely to the left almost making the car impossible to drive without risk of swerving at every turn. definite safety issue and appears to be a common issue among several vehicle years. *tr
While driving to office one day on interstate 495, i heard a popping sound and later realised that the seat does not move forward and broke on one side. the bracket which holds the seat and this seems to be a common issue with nissan murano. the warrenty ahs expired and dealer does not want to fix this. *tr
Front driver seat has become disconnected from base. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that the alternator failed while driving 50 mph, causing the vehicle to experience a complete loss of power. the brake and battery lights illuminated within two miles of the failure occurring. in addition, the driver seat mount detached. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the alternator failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred two times. the vehicle was also taken to an independent mechanic where the seat was welded. the manufacturer was aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 65,000.
I was driving down the highway with my girlfriend and 4 year old daughter in the car. we were driving into a curve to the right and i heard a loud pop. at the same time the driver seat which i was sitting in fell back and to the left causing me the jerk the wheel. we shot across the other lane spun around and skidded to a stop. luckily, no cars were coming the other way . i didn't think much of it at the time until i finally got around to being able to afford to fix it (being a nissan i knew it wasn't going to be cheap) , i discovered that this is a common problem with the 2006 nissan murano. and that mine was not an isolated incident. i came across hundreds of complaints of this problem, so it makes me wonder after my ordeal, how long before somebody gets killed from this obvious defect. , nissan has to be aware of it ,but still there has been no recall for the american public . please tell me someone is on top of this because its not a tire pressure sensor or a head lamp fuse, this is the driver seat .is there any more important thing in the car than keeping the driver in control ? i think everybody would agree no. someone please do something. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated while traveling 40 mph she heard a popping noise and felt the driver front seat shift down and to the left. the contact was able to drive the vehicle to the dealership which confirmed that the bracket connecting the seat to the frame had failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure and current mileages were 94,000. updated 10/03/12*lj the front seat lifter was replaced. updated 10/03/12
Driver seat has suffered structural integrity. the frame of the back support is cracked. *tr
There is a problem with the drivers seat frame. the metal ultimately breaks due to stress leaving the seat on a tilt . it also causes the back portion of the seat to not be stable. it is extremely dangerous to drive the car like this. upon investigation i found numerous sites on the internet outlining this problem. it is my opinion this is a safety issue and a recall should sent out. the dealer that i took my car to for repair was well aware of this issue and said that it had been corrected in new models but no recall had been issued due to expense to nissan. they did suggest a new seat frame for $1600.
Driving e on mass pike at 65mph. pressed firmly on brakes and noticed driver seat shifted. after this seat seemed unstable and continued moving whenever weight was shifted to left side of seat. *tr after looking at seat under carriage noticed that the only steel frame support on left rear of seat is totally sheared off. follow up with nissan shows this is a $1000 repair and is a common problem, parts in stock.
Noticed one day that the seat was wobbly. took it to my mechanic and he said that a manufacturer's weld had failed. this is a huge safety concern, as if i am in an accident, the seat will not restrain me. did research online, and apparently this is a huge issue with all 2003-2007 nissan muranos. i feel that this should absolutely be recalled and paid for by manufacturer. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that the front passenger seat broke away from the frame. the contact took the vehicle to a mechanic and stated that the mechanic felt it was a manufacturers defect. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 82,000.
The drivers seat left bracket broke free from frame, causing the seat to tilt to the left and wobble when you drive and take corners. after research online, there are thousands of cases of this with the murano and no one seems to be getting a recall off the ground. it is the same weld the same side of the same seat in each murano, how much logic does it take to get this under recall? this is a safety hazard as the chair is unstable. also common sense tells us with the left side broken the right side weld is under more stress and physics will prove it will break as well leaving the driving seat unattached completely and the driver using the steering wheel to keep from being thrown into the back seat. i called nissan and got a bunch of bs propaganda double speak and feel like any complaint i was trying to file was crumpled and tossed into the trash before i was even off the phone. i have loved my murano up to this point, but since nissan won't stand behind their work or correct what is clearly a manufacter's defect, then i will not be buying another one. ever! *tr
I purchased a 2006 nissan murano brand new. after doing a little research, i understand that my compliant has been documented numerous times, by many consumers and that an investigation by nhtsa has been completed and closed. with that said, a new investigation into the matters needs to occur and nissan needs to issue a recall. the visor on the driver's side continues to flop down, causing limited visibility when driving. this impairs visibility when driving, which is a major safety concern and although it seems that the defect hasn't resulted in a casualty yet, it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured from this defect. next, the seat anchor bracket/frame on my driver's side seat is broken and has caused the seat to lean to the left considerably. the seat is unstable and rocks back and forth while driving, which again, is a safety concern. the investigation into this matter by nhtsa indicated that the problem results from metal fatigue. when in automobile history has this occurred? as i understand, it will cost over $1,000 to get this fixed. nissan needs to issue a recall and take responsibility for its manufacturing defects. i hope they are not waiting until someone actually dies before they realize these defects are a major safety hazard. *tr
My nissan murano 2006 driver seat started rocking last week. i took it to the dealership today and found that the left seat track needs to be replaced. the part cost is $1118.90 and with labor, it'll cost over $1400. i found this issue in the "defect investigation" for my vehicle that was opened in 2009 and closed in 2010. according to the report, this was not found to be a safety issue. i've also noticed many (very many) complaints online regarding this issue. i asked the dealership today what happens if i don't get it fixed and if there's an urgency. he said that if i don't get it fixed, the other track may break as well. and if this happened while i was driving, the whole seat could flip backwards. i don't understand why with so many complaints and obviously a safety concern, this has not been made more serious. why knowing there's a defect, a recall has not been put on this issue and why the manufacturer has not done their part to address this defect. please reconsider opening an investigation. not many people have $1400 to put down on a "seat" issue that should've been addressed by the manufacturer in the first place. thanks! *js
Seat welding broken. seat leans to the left and will not move. nissan says i need to replace seat for $1200. *tr
