Problems with 2005 Nissan Murano SEATS

On average, the 2005 Nissan Murano starts to “feel” problems with the SEATS and its various aspects after 72 565 miles.

Recently reported SEATS problems on 2005 Nissan Murano

My driver's seat broke in the same manner as a number of other driver's. there is plenty of instances available that should be considered to find a quick resolution to this dangerous issue. http://x.nissanhelp.com/forums/murano/3302-drivers-seat.html the driver seat is anchored on the right side but is loose from the left rear, allowing significant rocking back and forth and right to left when taking turns, hitting the brakes or anytime the car is moving. i bought this car new in 2005 and am happy to say i am healthy enough to not be on record guinness as the heaviest person that could brake a car seat. both the dealer (weston nissan, at weston, florida) and nissan denied my claim on 9/24/2009. *tr

While driving my 2005 nissan murano se, the driverside seat broke on the left rear side of the seat causing the me the driver to sit in an awkward position. this repair is said to have cost $750.00. i feel this is something that should be addressed due to it happening while i was driving and almost caused me to steer into oncoming traffic. for nissan not to consider this a recall is mind boggling, this could honestly cause a serious accident.

2005 nissan murano- driver's side seat frame snapped at the weld and entire seat now teters back and forth diagonally. car was only 4 yrs old when it happened. girlfriend's car is same model/yr and same happened to her this year (nissan looked at it and did nothing). this is an absolute safety hazard and an obvious factory defect/design flaw. nissan should have recalled this but is doing nothing for its customers. is it gonna take personal injury due to a car accident or even the loss of an innocent person's life for nissan to consider this a hazard? *tr

Nissan murano 2005 driver seat support bracket broke. the seat started to show some movement during turns and stops while car was under warranty but dialer refused to change anything claiming that it is a normal movement. now this bracket finally broke. after looking at the bracket design it is obvious that 1/8" thk bent bracket with a cut-out where only a total of 3/4" of width is left would not be enough to support the seat for too long. metal fatigues and brakes. it did happened to my car on 9/15/09 on the country road during the right turn. i was fortunate enough to be able to "clamp" on my steering wheel to avoid loosing control of the vehicle due to seat falling back. i can only imagine what would happen to this seat during the car wreck. nissan refuses to replace the broken part at their expense although it is clear that the part that brackets is not a wear item it should provide the sufficient support throughout the life of a vehicle without compromising the passenger safety. somebody needs to get involved and make nissan to take care of this problem before people will get hurt or killed. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. on september 14, 2009 while driving 45 mph, the driver seat lowered. he noticed that the lifter assembly failed. the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer and the manufacturer will be notified. the current and the failure mileages were 42,000. updated 11/12/09 *cn the bracket located on the rear driver seat was broken at the connection point which required welding. updated 11/16/09

About a week ago i sat down in my 2005 nissan murano and heard a crack and the seat began to rock. i looked under the back of the seat and noticed the seat riser had broken. this surprised me as i am not a heavy guy, i weigh 200 pounds. the seat hasn't seen any damage out of the ordinary wear and tear, and the car has never been in an accident either. i figured it was just a single defect and took it to my dealer to get it fixed. they told me it was going to cost just over $1000 to replace the bracket. they also told me every single murano they have sold has this problem. i got online to see if i could find someone to fix it cheaper and found out not only have many people had there seat break, but in the exact same place. at this point i think this is a safety issue and nissan needs to right it. i can't imagine the outcome for someone if one of these seats break during an accident. nissan needs to make a bracket with thicker metal and replace all these faulty ones before somebody gets seriously injured because of it. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the driver-side front seat would not move forward or backwards. as a consequence, the driver could not reach the accelerator pedal. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and and a technician stated that it would cost $1000.00 to repair the vehicle. no repairs were made. he was in the process of contacting the manufacturer. the failure and current mileages were 46000.

Dangerous seat failure on my 05' nissan murano. the driver's seat frame has broken causing the seat to rock from side to side when cornering. this is terribly dangerous and will cause loss of control. the dealers are quoting a price of over $800 to repair something that should never have failed. i have investigated this problem on line and have found that some owners are having the seat welded abd that fixes the problem but nissan is not offering that low cost option because they have no mechanics that weld!!! *tr

I own a 2005 nissan murano that i purchased new. a few days ago when i got into the car the drivers seat seemed to come loose. it wobbles badly. i took the vehicle to the local nissan dealership. i was told that the seat bracket had broken and i would need a new seat. the cost of the new seat plus installation would be approximately $1,000. nissan customer service has told me that nissan has no obligation to repair the problem. the car has 44,000 miles. i am the only driver and take exceptional care of the vehicle. i find other complaints online about this exact situation. nissan is aware of the problem. this is a serious flaw in design. how can nissan dismiss responsibility and liability for this serious safety issue? if the seat bracket fails for no apparent reason what might happen in an accident? *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. when decelerating or making a right or left turn the drivers seat moved out of position. as a consequence, she lost control of the vehicle, and almost crashed into an intersection. she notified the dealer, and a technician speculated that the failure was caused by drivers with a heavy weight class; however, she has a small stature. the technician would not assume responsibility for the failure; therefore, no repairs were made. the failure and current mileages were 32,000.

Driver seat in nissan murano fails suddenly while driving - bracket in seat becomes unwelded. almost caused a crash when it failed. nissan is aware of this defect and refuses to recall. definite safety issue. *tr

I was driving my 2005 nissan murano; all of a sudden i heard something snap/break in my car seat and the seat fell back; i grabbed the steering wheel real tight so i wouln't loose control of the vehicle;the seat is very loose and the left side of the seat leans against the inside of the car. there was no warning, just a breaking metal sound; not a single problem prior to this sudden break. *tr

The bracket for my 2005 nissan murano driver seat broke. *tr

Tl*the contact a 2005 nissan murano. when entering the vehicle he noticed that the drivers seat fell backwards into the rear seat. the contact then proceeded to pull the seat up but it would not stay in place. the vehicle was inspected by the dealer who confirmed that the seat was broken. the estimated repair cost was 1,000. no repairs have been made and the manufacturer will be notified. the contact is aware of the safety risk since the driver and passenger seat could fall backwards without warning and possibly cause a crash. the failure mileage was 61,007 and the current mileage was 61,010.

Driver side seat in nissan murano broke again without warning. seat tilted to the left and was unstable. i was unable to adjust the seat to the proper driving position. car was parked at the time. i was getting into the car and once seated it broke. nissan said the only repair is to replace the seat entirely at $1,000! nissan consumer affairs refuses to cover the costs to replace the seat. *tr

2005 nissan murano- driver's left rear seat mount failed causing seat to sway during turns and breaking. seat mounts likely to totally fail in crash situation. numerous incidents known from internet search for similar failures on this make and model vehicle. *tr

2005 nissan murano. driver's seat rear left bracket is broken. it is a small, thin, l-shaped bracket that is broken in two places. the seat is no longer "attached" to the frame (on this corner) and the seat rocks when you sit in it and as you are driving it. there was no crash and both drivers of this vehicle weigh less than 200 lbs, so over-stressing is not a problem. this occurred in august of 2009 and it has not yet been repaired. the dealership wants $910 for the repair or $700 for the part alone. i am concerned that if there is a crash, the seat will not remain attached to the car. *tr

2005 nissan murano driver's seat bracket broke. *tr

Sitting in murano heard a crack noise from below the seat and seat falls sideways with driver leaning against the driver's side window. after close inspection - the metal anchor that secures the seat frame to the car has broken - metal welding is broken. i can no longer safely drive the car as it is not secured to the floor. nissan customer service says there is not a recall, dealership says it will cost me over $400. *tr

2005 nissan murano. seat bracket that anchors drivers' seat to car has broken -allowing seat to rock and move freely while driving. this is a serious defect in the vehicle and apparently very common from the information that i have found. the fact that the driver's (or any seat for that matter) would not remain attached to the vehicle through every day use is a huge cause for concern. not only a hazard to driver (especially in event of accident)- but also to passengers in the vehicle. this car is not able to pass inspection and is totally unsafe to drive in its current condition. someone is going to have an accident,be killed or seriously injured if this known defect is not resolved. nissan apparently is not going to do much about the situation on their own and thus we must rely on nhtsa to make them correct the problem. using cheap brackets/plastic parts to anchor seats to vehicle may survive in a crash lab- but i am putting my children in this vehicle- no one at nhtsa will i bet- knowing this problem. repair is estimated by dealer at $1000 for the consumer. outrageous considering they know they have a problem. *tr

Letter from senator specter on behalf on constituents, re defect in the 2005 nissan murano. *nj the drivers side seat frame/track is currently broken. the consumer stated it caused the seat to tilt toward the door. *jb

Nissan murano 2005 : drivers power seat. the drive gear (made of plastic) is stripped by the worm gear (metal). i have spoken with my dealer and nissan north america. they will not assist me with the $1000.00 repair. if nissan would supply just the drive gear this repair could be made easily. they do not have the part. you must buy the entire seat track. *tr

The driver's side seat is loose on its frame. i brought it in the dealer and the fix is over $650. i have an extended warranty, but they indicate that this is not covered. however, we are working on that. the real safety issue is if the seat breaks while driving, there is a very high likelihood of a crash. i will get the seat fixed this week. however, in reviewing information from other complaints, i have seen many, many others reporting this problem. *tr

Driver seat bracket broken in the rear left (by the door) side. *tr

1. 2005 nissan murano - everyday use led up to the failure. 2. the seat bracket on the driver side has broken or sheared off at a point and this causes the seat to rock back and to the left dramatically while driving. 3. nissan refused to cover under warranty, and with the part costing $750, it is yet unfixed. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. whenever the contact sits on the front driver's seat, the left corner of the seat falls down. while driving 15 mph, the seat shakes and causes unstable visibility. he took the vehicle to two dealers and both stated that the welding in the seat needed to be repaired. through online research, he found numerous complaints on this very same failure for this vehicle. he stated that it appeared to be a manufacturer defect that should be recalled. the current and failure mileages were 71,294.

2005 nissan murano driver seat defect : bracket on the frame's suddenly broken the part number from nissan local shop : 87450ca68b the failure not fixed yet bc too expensive $950 ... *tr

My husband purchased a new nissan murano in 2005. in 2006 we gave the car to our 16 year old daughter. the vehicle has 23,000 (!) on it. last week she informed me that her seat "moves" when she turns the vehicle. we took the car to crown nissan and was informed that the "lifter link" was broken and would need to be replaced at the cost of $600 parts and $250 labor. i am questioning why a nissan product and at 4 years of age would have a broken seat??? after researching this on the internet this appears to be a known problem with previous complaints filed with your office. why has this not been addressed? a seat bracket breaking is not a normal wear & tear item. i can see a pattern developing and certainly you folks must be able to also. how many seats/passengers have been ejected from wrecked vehicles? how people have been hung by their seatbelt in the event of a crash? *tr

2005 nissan murano. the driver's seat broke. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the driver seat assembly failed while driving approximately 60 mph. the manufacturer took a report number 566097; however, they will not assist with the repair. the dealers estimated cost to repair the seat assembly was $1,000.00. the vehicle will be repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 5,005 and the current mileage was 60,000. updated 10/26/09. *lj updated 10/26/09*jb

The steel lifter link connecting the left side of the drivers seat to the seat frame cracked and subsequently resulted in the drivers seat being free to rock laterally. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. while driving at an unknown speed, the contact noticed that the driver's seat began moving from side to side. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the base needed to be replaced. prior to the failure, she noticed that the seat was not positioned properly. the current and failure mileages were 57,472.

failure of the left rear anchor of the driver's seat. *tr

My 2005 nissan murano driver's seat popped while at a stop light when i reposition myself in the seat. it was the left rear bracket. in reading several websites, this appears to be an international problem and is possibly a design flaw and could cause serious injury if this happens while in motion. *tr

Yesterday my 2005 nissan murano drivers seat frame broke and the seat is rocking back and forth. i have read on the web of many, many murano owners with this same problem. it is very dangerous and is obviously a known issue, how can nissan not recall this? *tr

I own a 2005 murano and while driving my seat dropped and slammed over to the drivers side door. this completely caught me off guard and caused me to pull into the opposite lane. there were no cars on the road with me at the time so no accident happened. now my seat leans to the left and constantly moves as i turn or come to a stop it wobbles. i have called my dealership and they have let me know this is not a recall. i have researched and found not only on this website but hundreds of others that report this exact problem. if i get in to an accident while awaiting for the recall to actually go in to affect it is very possible being my seat is not connected to my vehicle that i will become projectile or the force of my seat to my seatbelt is going to cause broken collar bones and facial bones. this is a flaw in the vehicle and needs to be acknowledged as one. *tr

Lifter link assembly broke on my 2005 nissan murano. took the car in for servicing and when i picked it up the seat was broken. the dealership fixed it because it was covered under my extended warranty. still had to pay the $50.00 deductible, because there was no recall. i understand that i am not the only one who has experienced this problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. while driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard a loud pop and the driver's seat became detached from the vehicle. the dealer stated that the rear driver's side bolt failed on the seat rail. in addition, the driver's seat would tilt when the vehicle was turned right or left. he was concerned that he could lose control of the vehicle if the seat moved away from the steering wheel or accelerator and/or brake pedals. the estimated cost of repair was over $1,000. the vin was unable to be entered into the system. the current and failure mileages were less than 52,000. updated 06/24/09. *lj updated 06/26/09.*jb

2005 nissan murano driver's seat lifter link slide assembly broke. the seat rocks back and forward when accelerating or decelerating. *tr

While sitting in the driver's seat the bracket that holds the seat in its position broke. the seat rocked back and forth causing a safety hazard for me while driving the vehicle. took it to the dealer was told that it would cost approximately $1000 or more to repair. vehicle only had at the time approx 81,000 mls. this defect should be further investigated and a recall issued as it appears to be a manufacture defect with the number of complaints that have been submitted. those who have had this equipment repaired as i have should be properly reimbursed. *tr

A bracket on the driver's side power seat has broken, and the seat tilts to one side and also forward. it is loose and will move forward several inches when i decelerate/accelerate or get in/out of the vehicle. the driver's seat is now very loose. the seat moves upon exit/entering the car and while driving. a small support bracket is broken and nissan claims the whole seat assembly needs to be changed, cost $1000+. it seems to me that seat bracket should not break under normal conditions and i was very surprised when i looked around online and found many people with the same problem. have the drivers seat move around while the car is moving seems to me like a serious safety problem. *tr

Drivers seat rocks side to side when adjusting seat with vehicle in motion, which could creating a loss of vehicle control. *tr

2005 nissan murano. the left seat ( drivers ). about one month ago i noticed that the seat was loose on the left side of the seat. i took it to the dealers and they found that the aft lift rod had cracked. the repair would cost over 1000 dollars. i made a repair on the seat by welding the broken part. *tr

I recently purchased a used 2005 nissan murano. i feel in the love with the car. unfortunately, i have found a problem with the driver side seat. the frame has broken and is now leaning towards the driver side door. i can actually rock the seat back and forth. i have contacted nissan and they have told me that there are no recalls and the warranty has expired. unfortunately, for others, i have read about the same problem with other 2005 muranos from other owners. i'm very disappointed and feel like this should be covered by nissan or by recall since it's a defective part of the car. please review this complaint along with the many others regarding this issue. *tr

My 2005 nissan murano had it's driver's seat track break while driving. the seat suddenly fell to the left causing the vehicle go into the oncoming lane of travel as my hands also moved toward the motion of the seat. i found that the seat track weld had broken from its frame support. *tr

2 incidents 1) both driver and passenger side sun visors will not stay up completely causing issues during driving (falling into driver's view while driving). i have never had this issue with any other car i've owned (honda, ford, chevy, toyota). average replacement cost per visor is ~$200.00 which is a little steep. 2) when car reached 104,000 miles, the driver's seat rear left bracket cracked. this occurred while making a right turn from a stop. date of occurrence is may 4, 2013. after researching this online, i found several nissan muranos have this issue. the left rear support was not designed for long term application and is a flawed design. i also found someone that welded their bracket together from youtube which may be the route i may take if a recall is not implemented. average replacement cost of driver's seat track assembly (heard they will not replace just the bracket) is ~$700.00. i also heard there have been accidents due to this design flaw, though cannot confirm. my hopes are you're looking into this. *tr

Broken driver's seat. seat seems to have detached from base and rocks back and forth; when turning the only thing holding me onto the seat is my seatbelt. car is a 2005 murano with 39,700 miles on it purchased new. *tr

Driver side seat bracket broken. concerned about seat coming completely detached in accident.

2005 nissan murano: i am having a problem with the driver's power seat. it adjusts itself randomly & makes clicking noises, while i am driving. it mainly slides back to the farthest position, so it is very hard to touch the brake & accelerator pedals. this has been intermittently occurring for approx 7 days. as of today, the back of the seat is now randomly moving forward while i am driving, so that it is in effect folding me in half! this seems like a very dangerous way to drive.. previous to the seat randomly moving on a regular basis (since the past week), the seat felt like it was tilted slightly to one side. at first the problem was that the seat sometimes would slip out of position into another position. this went on for about 2 or so weeks before the clicking noises & random repositioning started happening. i would like the nhtsa to check into this seat failure as i feel that it is a dangerous problem. the seat moves back randomly when i'm driving & for a shorter person this could cause an accident as they may not even be able to touch the pedals in order to pull over. does this warrant a safety recall?? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the front driver seat was not properly attached to the frame. as a consequence when driving the seat moves out of its position. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection. the technician stated the crank arm needed to be replaced at an expense of $1,000. no repairs were made. the failure mileage was 62,000. the current mileage was 70,000. updated 11/24/09.*jb
