We have classified the 86 complaints from 2005 Nissan Murano about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
My nissan murano 2005 suv has been stopping in motion while driving again, and this has happened more then 7 times in the past 2 months. but this time it happened on the 405 fwy with my children. the vehicle slowed down on the freeway and i had to find the right shoulder lane in call aaa. i checked the recalls on the internet for this car and there was recalls back in 2005 when i bought the vehicle and i didn't receive a notices in the mail. i've called the nissan hotline with no replies and emailed the company too; i was emailed back that there was a recall on the second row seat belts. this car is totally unsafe; plus vehicle has five recalls such as gas tank, set belt, engine and engine cooling, transmission, and alternator. i looked at the forum for the nissan murano in it seems like the same problem with the 2003-2005 models. *tr
I was driving when all at about 30 mph when all of the sudden my lights (service engine, battery.) on dashboard turn on and the speed of my car was reduced drastically. i was able to drive my car to a speed of no more than 5mph. i park and after that my car had to be tow away. i was told by nissan dealership where i bought the car that it was the alternator and it had to be replaced. to my knowledge there is a recall for nissan murano 2005 alternators. *tr
I started to notice that when i'd use my keyless entry that the doors wouldn't unlock so i replaced my keyless entry only to discover that wasn't it using the panel on the drivers side if i unlock/lock the doors only 1 door aside from the drivers will unlock... my trunk will unlock selectively and with this model there is no other way to get in our out the trunk aside from the tail gate i took it to the dealer to get it fixed and when his response immediately was "it's your actuators, we get these all the time with your kind of car" it struck a nerve with me and i didn't get it done when i found out the cost is $400 per door that's including labor i then started to do research on line and i see forums of over a thousand 05/06 murano owners with the same issue that im having some have replaced them some have complained there was petitions and nothing has been done god forbid someone who doesn't realize this gets in and like most of us locks there doors behind them only to realize it didn't with something awful like a burglary or something... what if there is an accident and they cant get to the victim because the doors don't unlock these are worst case scenarios but this should not be common. *tr
Has faulty electronic locks. viewed as a safety issue as it prevents the ability to get in and/or out in a quick and efficient manner should there be an emergency. the door will not unlock/lock using the electronic devices or buttons and in order to unlock the door you have to open another door and reach over and manually unlock. i have significant concerns related to my and my family's safety in the vehicle. after research it appears that this problem is common and nissan is not taking any responsibility to replace or repair causing significant (up to $1600) financial cost to the owner. *tr
Began having issues with the locks to the point the rear hatch locks and won't unlock, not all doors lock or unlock anymore. took to our mechanic and when he replaced the switch it still didn't work. he did some research and said this is an issue from nissan directly with the actuators. *tr
Electronic door lock on the driver side would sporadically unlock or lock door...now is all the time and must be locked manually. this is a safety hazard when trying enter the vehicle in an un secure environment or can result in stolen merchandise or parts left in the vehicle. driver side sun visor also well not stay in upright position and drops suddenly blocking the view of the driver. *tr
Front door locks don't work with remote or proximity fob. *tr
2 tpms sensors failed and cost $285 to replace. batteries failed in each sensor requiring a full replacement of each unit. tire pressure light would come on after 10 miles, leading the driver to believe that there was a pressure problem when there really was not an issue, which could create a safety concern. *tr
The front passenger lock would not open using the key fob or the interior lock buttons. the rear hatch will not open unless the front passenger door is unlock. recently ( spring of 2013, 129k miles), the driver and rear passenger side locks would not operate unless manually unlocked, at first intermittently and ultimately stopped working completely. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that all four door locks could not be locked or unlocked from the interior or exterior of the vehicle. the remote control key lock was also inoperable. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that there were no recalls for the failure. the manufacturer was notified who also advised the contact that there were no recalls for the vehicle and offered no further assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 106,000. updated 11/01/12*lj the dealer had no record of prior service. also, the oil cooler and cv boot were leaking and the air bag light illuminated. updated 11/02/12
The door locks on my vehicle will not lock or unlock with the keyless remote and the passengers front door lock will not lock or unlock unless manually locked and also the backseat behind the passenger that door will not lock or unlock with the keyless remote this is a safety hazard for my young children riding in my car. the manufacturer of the these vehicles should be held responsible for the cost to correct these problems apparently this has been an on going issue with these door locks as to what i have seen with the complaints posted. what is it going to take to get these locks fixed before young children get killed. *tr
The power locks do not work all the time when using the fob or the switch inside the door. the doors and lift gate do not always lock or unlock. my wife has been locked out of the car in the meijers parking lot with our two small children unable to get in car. this is a major safety issue and i find it unacceptable. i am concerned that if there was an accident, fire, severe weather that my family would not be able to get in or out (depending on the situation) of the car in a timely manner causing injury or death. doing some research i have found that there are many other nissan murano and other nissan vehicle owners that have been having the same problem. it all appears that nissan issued a recall for the frontier pickup for this same issue. we now have to leave the vehicle unlocked at all times so we can get in and out without incident. please call me if you have any further questions. thanks.
Door locks not functioning properly. will not lock/unlock from fob or interior switch on the interior of the vehicle. this is a safety concern because in the event of a crash you may not be able to unlock the doors to exit the vehicle or it may prevent emergency medical personnel to easily gain access to the vehicle. it is also a concern because it can potentially leave the vehicle vulnerable to potential theft of items in the interior of the vehicle since they don't reliably lock. *js
It seems that i have all of the well known problems with the nissan murano. i got the air bag light that won't turn off which to me is a major safety and very dangerous issue. i heard that in case of an accident the air bags and seat belts won't work. nissan needs to address this problem asap before someone or multiple people lose their life because of their lack of responsibility. another problem i have is none of door actuators work including the rear hatch door except for the driver's side door that door is the only door that unlocks and locks which i also think it's another safety issue. i also have the bad power steering rack which i mentioned a lot is a safety issue. the steering has so much play that its difficult to drive i wish nissan would step up to the plate and admit that these should be repaired because of their bad engineering with these trucks. *tr
Airbag light flashing, both front door locks quit working at the same time along with the hatch lock that gets stuck, now the sun visor on drivers side is falling down. *tr
Power failure, inability to accelerate and possibility to being rear-ended as a result. *tr
All passenger doors do not lock/unlock either using the fob or the driver power lock controller, the hatch is now locking intermittently. this is a huge safety/security issue especially now that the hatch is having problems. this issue started in 2011, which i had the drivers door fixed, then starting in 2012 the passenger doors started having issues, now in 2013 the remaining passenger door and hatchback!! there is obviously a problem which must be addressed!
All of my locks no longer work. i have seen countless complaints about this very issue and nothing is getting done about it. i thought nissan was suppose to be one of the best out there. i'll never buy another nissan again if they continue not to assist their customers. i also have the air intake issue, thankfully that was recalled and will be fixed. i had to replace the front struts, oil cooler gasket, front sway bar links and the battery has been changed 3 times now. very disappointed with nissan and so embarrassed to even talk about the issues with this car. :( *tr
2005 nissan murano door lock actuators have gone bad. i have googled this on line and have found nearly every owner has had electrical problems with this vehicle - this being one of the number one issues. however, nissan refuses to issue a recall and fix this problem. what is it going to take? how many people have to have this problem before they realize that it is something they did wrong in the manufacturing of this vehicle? am i really going to have to pay $1600 to repair this on a 6 year old car? not good customer service nissan!!! *tr
The front drivers door failed.. more specifically, when the lock system is activated electronically, the doors typically fail to completely lock or unlock completely. visually, the inside lock 'button' only moves partway. there is reason to believe this affects many owners of nissan and infinity vehicles. some suspect actuator problems and others suspect relay problems. there is an investigation into a class action law suit and there's petitions. the manufacturer doesn't want to claim responsibility and this problem is affecting thousands of owners. this problem has safety implication and can create potentially life threatening situations. i advice that this problem be taken seriously and make the manufacturers accountable for these defects. thank you *tr
The front drivers door is failing to lock or unlock from key fob or from lock/unlock switch on driver's door. *ln
The front passenger door and lift gate locks are failing to lock or unlock from key fob or from lock/unlock switch on driver's door. *tr
Tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) warning light stays on after driving about 10 miles. light does not return after restarting vehicle until driven another 10 miles. tire pressure checked and rechecked, but no problem with pressure, around 35 psi. *ln
Driver's door and rear passenger door locks will not lock when actuated from the door power lock or the remote power lock. this is a danger because it means door locks can not be relied to power lock or unlock in the event of an emergency. *tr
Power lock on passenger door on 2005 nissan murano would not lock or unlock it. *tr
Door locks starting with drivers side passenger and now the driver door will not lock or unlock unless manually changed with lever or key. this is a huge safety issue and should be addressed passenger doors are random however are starting to show similar signs thanks in advance. *js
Original owner of murano, purchased new in 2005. the door locks fail to lock and un-lock. this has occured at vairous times when using any means available to lock and un-lock the doors: the key fob, interior driver side and passenger side locks button on door, and manual manipilation of the interior door lock(s). the issue is experienced with all 4 door locks and occassionally the rear hatch (not opened as often, so it may occure more frequently, just not aware of it). the condition worsens in the warm weather (live in fl). have at times been unable to get in or out of my vehicle until all of the above means tried repeatedly until one works. have found that i can only get in my car during warm weather if i use the fob to roll the front windows down and then reach in the vehicle and manually unlock the car door. *tr
Door locks problem. when i lock the doors with my control or from the inside, they don't lock or unlock. same with the trunk, i cannot open my trunk because the system doesn't work. i contacted dealer and they told me i have to replace locks (all 5) for more than $1500.00 i also see this issue is common in all nissan in different years. a recalled should be called since this is a security issue with the car. thanks *tr
On september 17, my driver's door would not open with the keyless entry or with the actual key. i called nissan of queens to state again that something fraudulent was done to my car since my initial visit on september 4. they advised me to come in to "check" the problem. however, past experience leads me to believe it will be to "fix" the door, charge me some ridiculous amount, and then create another malfunction. this new malfunction will have me coming back the next week for a repeat of this fraudulent service. my car is breaking down before my eyes and i cannot understand why nissan would let this happen to a loyal customer. as you know tampering with my car door can be harmful to my person in the following ways: 1.having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. when locking the doors it's imperative nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. if anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. if the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. 2.there is a security problem with nissan locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. it's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. the drive "thinks" the door is locked, when in reality it's an "open door" for carjacking or robbery. 3.in emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. since 99% of the time we all use the button to lock and unlock doors, using the manual locking lever is unfamiliar. the locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. some people who cannot afford the $1600 to have all the solenoids replaced (as quoted by dealers). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. while driving 20 mph the vehicle began to shimmy and then stall. the abs, brake, and air bag light illuminated on the instrument control panel, and then the battery would loose power. his vehicle identification number was excluded from recall # 05v319000 (electrical system:alternator/generator/regulator), therefore he was ineligible for a free remedy. the current mileage was 51,500. the failure mileage was 50,000.
Driver's side door actuator does not work to open/lock the door anymore. safety issue for my wife's car. online search showed 1000's of nissan owners with the same problem. how this is not a recall i do not know. *tr
I have had intermittent problems opening the front driver side door with the keyless remote for 2 1/2 years and recently it has become a problem 99% of the time. about a month ago i discovered one of my rear doors was unlocked when it should not have been. yesterday when a passenger tried to get in the back door on the opposite side it would not unlock even when using the interior button. i'm sure it's only a matter of time before the only properly functioning door stops working and the gas cap will no longer open. how do you open the gas cap with a faulty locking mechanism?? is there a way to open it manually?? there is also a question of safety if doors cannot be locked and unlocked with the interior lock button....risk of car jacking, theft. emergency personnel could not gain quick access in the event of an accident or fire or submersion when every second counts, especially involving infants and small children in car seats (or elderly) who can't or don't know how to manually unlock the door. lives are at risk! the cost to repair one door is astronomical let alone having to repair three or all four. this is a widespread nissan defect that they refuse to acknowledge and repair. i have always been a big nissan fan and this is the third nissan i have owned. i will not buy another one if they don't step up and fix this problem. we owners of these vehicles are reminded daily of the safety issues every single time we enter and exit our cars and have to manually check each door to make sure they are all locked. a recall needs to be issued. this is a safety concern. *tr
the air bag indicator light is flashing in the dash again. i had this problem fixed once before while still under warranty at the north little rock dealership. on leaving the garage within just a mile, i made a left turn and heard a crunching noise in the steering column and it came back on. i went strait back and they said they would fix it but the (second replacement part) wouldn't be in till the next day so i was given a loaner for one day. now it's back on again. also noted shortly after the warranty expired that the lumbar support on the drivers side no longer inflates/deflates and hasn't worked since. i have had all recalls fixed and had to replace the battery at 37,000 miles at my cost. also had to have the dealership resurface both front rotors and replace a rear caliper under warranty that had locked up 1 & 1/2 years ago. i see that the front rotors are in need of resurfacing again even though the break pads have 1/2 of there wear left to go. due to the highly chromed /curved dipstick, getting an accurate oil level reading is not possible at any time, so the dipstick has only been removed three time since purchasing it as it is a pointless endeavor. i own six autos that range in age from 1972 threw this 2005 murano and of all of them, the murano is the least trusted one. i will never own another nissan. *tr
Bought 2005 nissan murano 8-08, had electrical problems 1st week replaced battery, 2nd week ,labor day weekend alternator failed, had replaced under warranty. took 2 and a half to 3weeks in shop . 3 weeks later the replacement alternator failed also. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. while driving 35 mph, the battery failed in the vehicle. the dealer replaced the battery. eighteen months later, the battery warning indicator illuminated and the battery failed again. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number 05v319000 (electrical system:alternator/generator/regulator), which was identical to the failure she experienced. the dealer stated that her vin was not included in the recall; however, they changed the cam shaft position in the vehicle. the failure mileage was 44,400.
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. when the contact attempted to start the vehicle, it made a clicking sound underneath the hood. the vehicle would not start. the dealer stated that the vehicle needed a new alternator and informed the contact that her vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 05v319000 (electrical system:alternator/generator/regulator). the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. the current and failure mileages were 36,700.
Nissan's recall on the 2005 murano states that the vehicle falls into a "failsafe" condition which limits vehicle speed. very shortly after this, the engine will stop running...could result in a crash. my vehicle had done that 4 times. two times in heavy traffic. you have about a minute to get to the shoulder before the vehicle stops. in that minute, the vehicle is rapidly decelerates to a crawl. i was nearly rear ended by a toyota sequoia. dominion nissan "fixed" my vehicle and assured me it would not happen again. a few month later, as i neared my home, it happened again. the alternator was replaced pursuant to the recall notice. on january 11, 2008 i left work and headed for the interstate. the vehicle decelerated from 50mph to a crawl within about a minute. dangerously made it to the shoulder. had this happen several moment later i would have been trying to merge onto the interstate, in rush hour, in a construction zone. i could easily have been killed in such a circumstance. nissan "fixed" the car again. it happened again on january 19, 2008. they want to "fix" it again. i said that they should replace the vehicle. i filed a complaint on jan 21 by phone, jan 27 by email and jan 28 by letter. nissan and the dealer have not responded. *tr
The problem with my car was the involuntary locking of all doors without my involvement whenever i parked the car somewhere. this proved very inconvenient at times when i didn't have my car keys with me. the dealer kept the car for a few days only to tell me they could not solve the problem. they didn't even offer to contact nissan with the problem.
Vehicle has entered "fail-safe" mode at least 8 times in the past year. dealership has had the vehicle no less than 7 times following "fail-safe" events. ground wire to ecm svc bulletin was completed. recalled alternator was replaced (after 4th event). airbag sensor and airbag spiral cable were replaced following separate events. currently, carmd tool is giving a p2135 error code, and states that latest event was caused by throttle position sensor/switch and/or an "a" /"b" electrical voltage correlation error. all "fail-safe" mode events occurred during high-speed (55-65 mph) traffic on multi-lane highways, with the exception of the latest event. three times, entry into "fail-safe" mode created extremely hazardous situations and near-accidents. each time, after the ignition was switched off, the vehicle has restarted in normal operating mode, but the mil came on and stayed on until vehicle was serviced by dealership. *tr
on the date listed, while entering traffic flow from a parking lot, my 2005 nissan murano suddenly lost power and enter the "fail safe" (limp home) mode where the vehicle had no acceleration. this was a sudden failure and there had been nor were there any indications of any developing problems with the vehicle. the only warning light was the mil and the physical loss of power. there was no accident, but the failure could have resulted in a t-bone collision since the oncoming traffic was approaching at 50 mph and there was virtually no right hand emergency pull-off area on the roadway to safely place the vehicle outside travel lanes. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for under warranty repair. this repair took less than an hour and the cause of the problem was describe to me as a dirty or loose electrical ground to the ecm. *jb
Exiting parking lot onto roadway, engine hesitation with little acceleration, awd lock comes on, service engine soon comes on. turn off roadway, shut off vehicle and restart, no acceleration power, malfunction indicator lights still on - cannot drive vehicle. next morning towed to dealership; report is a code u1000 - electrical and ground wire problem. tsb procedure followed based on the code. however, tsb says it applies to the code only when no malfunction indicators lights are on. therefore, i do not believe problem is fixed. also, since then a vibration is detected through the gas pedal when accelerating. service manager and tech test drove and stated there was something detected but no fix since there is no tsb for this kind of problem.
Both failures 4/8/06 and 5/1/06 - pause in starting, engine hesitations when running, awd lock comes on, service engine soon comes on, no acceleration power - cannot drive vehicle. both times same code u1000 - electrical and ground wire problem. i have been left stranded twice in this vehicle and feel very unsafe! *jb
My 6-month pregnant wife was driving our new murano when all the sudden the car's service engine light went on and the car wouldn't go beyond a few miles an hour on the interstate. although she made it home safe, when we had it towed to the dealer they told us that there was nothing wrong with the car. since their computer didnt recognize a problem, the technician wouldnt look at it. a few weeks later, the same thing happened again to us and when we took it in again the dealer seemed ignorant of the recall. we received the recall notice in between incidents and couldnt get an appt right away. when i showed him the form, he said that the alternator probably didnt need to be replaced but that they'd look at it. it's frustrating that we have to fight so much to get this issue resolved.
Dt: the caller stated while driving at 55 mph the headlights came on and the engine stalled. the caller took vehicle to the dealer, and was told there was a recall on the alternator, and the dealer replaced it. 10 days later the vehicle stalled again. the caller had a close call. dealer said he was too busy to look at vehicle . dealer had vehicle since saturday and he has not looked at it yet. manufacturer said they will get back to the caller in a few days. *ak
The current description has to do with mechanical defects: i leased a brand new 2005 nissan murano in april 2005, and in august of that year the car had major mechanical malfunctions that included: abs light came on , internal failure of abs actuator, and right front abs sensor, engine probelms with loss of power, and acceleration . nono current through pin connectors. had to replace ecm. engine light came on , internal failure to throttle body, all wheel drive light came on. they replaced the alternator, i also had internal failure of a/c amplifier. my car was in the shop from 8/5/05 - 9/13/05 a total of 39 days! i called nissan about complying with the lemon law and to now they have declined to cooperate. i am currently seeking legal representation in this matter.*ak
2005 nissan murano alternator failure at 8900 miles
