My car doesn't have automatic door locks, for 3 times now my doors have locked while running and the doors were closed. my car locked my grandson, which is 6 years old in, and the last time was yesterday on 10/09/2019. my husband had to break the window to get in the car. this is a serious hazard. my doors aren't suppose to be locking themselves. i need answers for this situation
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. while driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the alternator was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure continued. the contact indicated that the alternator was replaced on four separate occasions. the local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 170,000.
The car will stutter at random even if filled with a full tank. smell of burning and check engine light comes on. car starts to violently shake. this is horrible as i drive with my toddler. i have been now reading this is common and i'm lucky i have not had an accent by my car stalling
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. while driving 20 mph, the battery and brake warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
I was driving at about 30 mph on a city street and all the dash lights came on including the brake light, car would not accelerate and steering wheel locked like it had no power steering. pulled over, parked, turned off car, waited a minute. turned car back on and all dash lights were off again. drove for a mile to see if it would happen again and it did not. what the hell, @nissan? i had my children in the car. that's not safe for a car to just turn off like that.
August 18, 2018 bout 9:50 pm, after passing threw new albany on my way back to memphis after leaving starkville, ms. when it felt like my nissan murano was losing power on highway 78 with one vehicle in left lane bout car length behind and another bout three car length behind me in the right lane. i pulled off on right side of the road bout 100 yards from exit to glenfield and oxford, ms. the vehicle would only move about 5 or 7 miles hour allowing me to make it to glenfield/ oxford turnoff then just stopped would not move any farther. cutting on the hazardous blinkers was draining the battery power. a lady stopped and gave me a bus off but battery died shortly after she left. being on the other side of new albany i could only text allowing me to text my son who was on his way from starkville after he got off work at 10:30 pm. when my son arrived we charged the battery for 10 to 15 minutes giving the murano enough power to make mile or mile and a half back to new albany where lost all power again. walmart was close by where purchased a new battery allowing me to make 60 or less miles back to memphis. the battery and brake lights remained on i cut off all unnecessary power. monday morning i plan to take to nissan dealer after learning off recall for this same problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. while driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off and, on occasion, the engine could not be started. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 145,000. the vin was invalid.
Car stalled while running on city street.
Engine shuts off while driving
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. while driving various speeds, the battery and the abs indicators illuminated. an independent mechanic diagnosed that the alternator failed and replaced the part three different times. the contact stated that the alternator caught fire without warning. a police report was not filed and there were no injuries. an independent mechanic extinguished the fire. the dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 146,000.
Faulty wire on the altenator causing the brake and battery light to come on and lost power and car died.
When you running the car suddenly the car lost the power and stop.
Alternator failure many times unknown reason last time happened while driving on the a busy street died and won't start second time it happened in less than one week. *tr
My vehicle was in motion on the highway going about 50mph, when suddenly traffic came to a halt, when i pushed on the accelerator, there seem to be loss power and acceleration which is very dangerous, i had my 3 kids and grandchild in the vehicle with me. as i pushed the accelerator to the floor nothing happened the car wouldn't move, good thing a semi-truck wasn't behind me, we all would have been dead. this is scared me and my family. after waiting about 2 or more minutes the car junked and lunged at a high speed i could have ran into the back of another vehicle. this is beginning to happen more frequent now maybe 3-4 days or more out the week. stalling and loss of power (no response) while in traffic; is in deed a big factor to have this matter looked into. i've seen numerous complaints regarding the same incident my family and i experienced. there should be a recall regarding this matter. in addition, to that the actuators on both passenger doors (front and back) doesn't work, it has to be locked manually. also, the hatch lock doesn't lock the handle gets stuck.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact stated that while pulling off from a stop, the vehicle accelerated independently. the vehicle failed to decelerate and crashed into the driver side of another vehicle. a police report was filed. the contact sustained minor whiplash that did not require medical attention. the vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic where the front end of the vehicle was repaired. also, the front and rear camshaft sensors and alternator were replaced. the failure persisted after the repairs were performed. the contact also mentioned that, on numerous occasions, the vehicle stalled and restarted. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure was unable to be determined. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unavailable.
All occurrences took place when vehicle was stationary. i bought the vehicle less than two weeks ago, used, from the previous owner who had it for nine years. she supposedly kept up with all the maintenance and appears to have taken real good care of it. everything was fine until about three days ago when on a couple of occasions i parked and locked the vehicle and came back hours later to discover the front windows were down about 3 inches...weird. so when i got to work this morning i engaged the window lock button. then this afternoon i came out after work to discover the windows were both all the way down. i drove home and parked in the garage and rolled up the windows and left the key in the console. an hour later, got ready to leave and the windows were back down, and doors were locked. i reached in and unlocked the door, and when i opened it the alarm went off! oh, forgot to mention that the key fob doesn't work, in spite of replacing the battery this week, so the panic button doesn't work. got in and started the engine and the alarm is still going off!! put it into gear and back into park and it's still going off. got out and headed into the house (keys in hand this time) and the alarm randomly stopped...hmm. okay, so i went back around and opened the door (thinking i could leave now) and the alarm started sounding again...what the heck!
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. while driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. on multiple occasions, the engine would not start. the vehicle was taken to davis moore nissan (7576 east kellogg, wichita, ks), to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. the manufacturer was also notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 99,000. *bf consumer stated nissan is not able to diagnose problems with fuel pumps. on 05-24-19, a mega fuse was blown which led to a faulty fuel pump. that part was replaced and to date, we have not had this problem of vehicle stalling! *jb
My 2004 murano had a lot of stalling and stopping, problems with accelerating the car. it stop on multiple occasions. fluid leaking, from engine and fuel tank, and steering column. power steering is rigid, and locks, and car stops when turning.the windows went up and down uncontrollable. power control panel , did not function. nissan insisted that vehicle is old. i think the car is possessed. all of theses things occurred while i was in motion driving the car on highway, the roads, stationery, and especially turning, and trying to accelerate the car, and it would then completely turn off, nissan refuses to acknowledge any thing is wrong. they stated what do you expect after buying a car this old. i just want to make sure my car is safe by your standards not theirs. after receiving my car from nissan it was even worse, i brought the same issues to them after paying $5200 of what they said were repairs. thanks
The front passenger side window would go down when i tried to close the window. the remote quit working, replaced the battery in the remote, did not solve the problem. drove about 75 miles. parked & shut off the car & took the keys out of the ignition, locked the car manually, closed the doors, the driver side & passenger side windows rolled down. unlocked the driver side door with the key, the alarm went off. could not get the alarm to go off, since the remote does not work. it stopped all by itself about 1 minute later. rolled the windows back up & closed the door & windows rolled down again. the alarm went off again. i had to disconnect the +battery cable to get it to stop. i reconnected the battery cable & the alarm started going off again. i had to lock the drivers side door, reconnect the +battery cable & unlock the drivers side door with the key. i have not taken it in to a repair shop yet. that's next...
I had the exact symptoms appear in my make/model as described in recall id #36089. this was a recall put out by nissan many years back on similar vehicles. "an open circuit in the alternator can occur during wire fatigue caused by movement of the rotor coil during rapid changes in engine speed in vehicles equipped with a continuously variable transmission (cvt). higher engine compartment temperature in the murano compared to other nissan models may also be a contributing factor to the wire fatigue. when an open circuit occurs in the alternator, the charge warning and brake warning lamps come on. if a driver does not seek repair of the vehicle immediately as instructed in the owners manual and continues to drive the vehicle in this condition, the vehicle will operate normally for about one hour. after this time period, the battery voltage will drop to a level that causes the engine control module to fall into a fail safe mode. during fail safe mode, which lasts about ten minutes, vehicle speed will be reduced due to a throttle plate being held in a fixed position. after this time period, the engine will stop running." despite my model year and manufacturing date falling within the window for that recall, my specific vin was not included in the recall. the issue was as described and repaired as a failed alternator. in efforts to get further answers as to the faulty part or recall applicability from multiple sources at nissan, i have been provided with no real answers and am therefore filing this safety complaint.
The door locks work intermittently. i thought the doors were locked and when i come back they are unlocked. i checked it a few times and the lock moves only half-way leaving the door(s) unlocked intermittently. it looks like it's a voltage/electric problem since it's intermittent. i had all the fuses checked at the nissan dealership and it didn't fix the problem. i'm seeing complaints all over the web regarding this problem with actuators in nissan vehicles. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. while driving 40 mph, the engine stalled and all the warning indicators illuminated. the failure occurred on several occasions. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the alternator failed to charge the battery. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 103,101.
Trunk hatch is locked and will not open. doors do not always lock when lock button is pushed. *tr
The driver's seat adjustments are no longer working. it appears the track on the left of the driver's side seat is stuck therefore the seat is stuck in a slight sideways position. *tr
The driver power door lock actuator failed first and few days ago the passenger side, rear power door lock actuator failed. *tr
I was stopped at traffic light, when light turned green i began to accelerate. i began to smell burning thru air vents and then at about 40 mph the car would not respond to my acceleration of gas pedal. i had lost all power and control of vehicle. the car behind me had to swerve suddenly to avoid me and it almost caused a serious wreck with my 4 children inside. i had battery checked and alternator checked and was told alternator was bad. well i replaced alternator and wouldn't you know it 2 weeks later, the same incident occurred, i was going about 35-40 mph and it just quit again. and again my 4 kids were inside as i was driving them to school! i've called to inquire about the recall for this issue and am told mine doesn't qualify. i've seen so many people with this issue. why isn't it being addressed. will it take having my 4 kids inside involved in an awful wreck? we need someone to help with this before something bad has to happen!! *tr
About 2 weeks ago i changed the battery because it wasn't working anymore, it started with the car losing power just a little bit and then come back when one morning it turned on and then died, i took the battery and got it charged but didn't last long, ended buying a new one. now for the past few days again the car lost starting losing power and back up, till today it completely died. so at the end we figured it was the alternator, found out online about other drivers with same issue with same model and year car and of a recall being done. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact stated when the vehicle was turned on the brake light and battery warning lights illuminated. on a separate occasion the vehicle also stalled. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the dealer confirmed the alternator needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware the failure and they confirmed the vin failed to qualify for repairs under nhtsa campaign id number:05v319000 (electrical system:alternator/generator/regulator). the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 118,000 and the current mileage was 118,300.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 15 mph, the vehicle started to loose power and when the accelerator pedal was depressed, it did not respond. the steering ability became difficult to maneuver. the vehicle was powered off and restarted and the vehicle resumed to normal. in addition, all the warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was informed that the vehicle was repaired under a manufacturers recall related to the failure in 2005. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure occurred eighteen times. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
All four power door lock actuators are bad in the car. this is preventing the doors from properly locking and unlocking. this is a major safety issue for the car. i have looked online and there are hundreds of complaints about door lock actuators on 2004 muranos. *tr
There are three ways to lock and unlock the doors; using the remote, using the key and using the interior locks. the remote does not lock nor unlock the driver's nor the front passenger doors. the key, which can only be used in the driver's door lock, will lock and unlock all doors except the front passenger side door. the interior locking mechanism located on the drivers door will not unlock nor lock the front driver's nor the passenger side doors. at this time the only way to unlock the driver's and the front passenger side doors is to reach over and use the interior handle. once the front doors are unlocked the only way to lock them is to manually move the locking switch to the locked position. this problem seems to have affected hundreds if not thousands of nissan murano's the inability to lock and unlock the front doors is critical to the safety of the vehicle's occupants. the driver cannot lock the front doors, which is paramount when a child is riding in the car. not locking the doors can be critical in the event of a motor vehicle accident. it is a well known fact that the safest place to be in the event of an accident is in the car and the inability of the driver to insure that all doors are locked is critical to everyone's safety. having an unlocked door open in a crash increases the probability that an occupant will be ejected from a car thereby increasing injuries and the probability of death; not knowing that all doors are locked results in unnecessary risk. *tr
The door lock actuator does not work when the button is pushed from the inside. the lever must be moved manually. this poses a safety issue due to the fact that in an emergency the door stays locked disallowing a quick exit . *tr
Door lock actuators fail to lock doors within short period of time. also affected gas fill door because it is connected with an electrical solenoid. *tr
All of the door locks do not work. i have had my murano in the shop 3 times and they cannot figure out the problem. i have now spent close to $1000 and the problem is still not fixed! they first replaced a switch in the driver's side door. that did not fix the problem. they then replaced the bcm, the locks worked for about a week and now they are not functioning again. this is a safety hazard because i am a single woman and should be able to lock and unlock my doors as needed. how many people have to file a complaint for the same issue before nissan does something about it??? it is absolutely ridiculous that i should have to spend almost $1000 and still not have functioning door locks!!! i know for a fact the problem is not the solenoids in the doors that control the locks because my repair shop tested each one in each door and they are properly functioning, which is what led us to check the bcm. when it was determined the bcm was bad, i had that replaced but obviously that is not the only problem. please do something about this issue!!! *tr
A recurring check engine light problem, hesitation on acceleration after sitting in traffic for a while, poor idling, and the even a complete shutoff while my girlfriend was driving and my two daughters as passengers. the cars has completed shutoff twice while driving. once while turning left at low speed and the other one while on the highway. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact stated while driving 30 mph the vehicle stalled without any warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the battery and alternator belt needed to be replaced. the remedy failed to correct the failure, two weeks later the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance and referred her to the dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 140,000.
My wife and i went out to go to an appointment when the remote access key didn't work. we tried to use our key and that failed to work as well. basically, we were locked out of our car with no way to gain access to our vehicle. two hours later i came out and the driver side door was open. remember, two hours ago we were locked out and now only the driver side door is unlocked without me doing anything to it. so i test the door with the manual key to see if it all works and by some miracle it does. but once again, the remote key doesn't work. the wife took it apart and re-assembled it and then it worked. this feels like it will become a huge problem and i've read reports of the same category of nissan murano failures and am afraid of an emergency where the door needs to be opened and it can't be in a reliable time frame. *tr
Door locks and gas lock do not work or work intermittently. there wan an occasion where i had to tow the car because i had no gasoline and was not able to open the gas door. the mechanic fix it temporarily. the second time it happened i bent the gas door and had to replace the door. i fix that problem by deactivating the gas door lock. *tr
Doors lock malfunction all the time. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact was driving approximately 2 mph in reverse. when pressure was applied to the accelerator pedal there was a loud noise on the front passenger side of vehicle. the engine was turned off and restarted. the battery and brake warning light indicators were illuminated on the instrument panel. the warning light remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. an authorized dealer stated that there was a recall repair performed on the vehicle per nhtsa campaign id number 05v319000 (electrical system: alternator/ generator/ regulator). the failure occurred after the recall repair was performed. the failure mileage was 61,000.
Battery dies every 4 to 6 mo. have to keep buying new batteries because nissan says they can not find a problem. first time with original oem battery (2 years old) on vacation and the battery died in the hotel paring lot on a sunday out of town. would not jump start. no dealer open so bought a $150 battery from well known parts store. now every 4 to 6 mo battery dies the same way, will not jump start because deed cell in battery this is the 5th battery now in 2 years. nissan says they can not find any thing and the parts store says its not their batteries. i am left with a car i can not take on trips as it will die on us. nissan says they can not find any problems and a new battery is replaced but happens again. parts store runs test on battery and on car they show intermittent spikes but it does not show up on there elect. tool. help i am stuck and no i wants to help. *tr
My murano suddenly would not accelerate and the abs and brake lights illuminated. the same exact description of the original recall for the alternator. i had to tow to dealer and luckily i still was under extended warranty so it was mostly covered. called nissan this morning and they informed me that the recall was already performed for my vehicle in september of 2006. obviously they didn't learn from their original mistake. they should be doing repair again for free and paying for the battery that got fried in the process. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact noticed that the vehicle was losing power while driving at an unknown speed. a few seconds later, the vehicle regained power. he took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the battery and alternator; however, the vehicle still did not have power. the dealer stated that the transmission also needed to be replaced at the estimated cost of $5,000. a report was filed with the manufacturer (number 6529588) and they stated that they would call the contact back. the current and failure mileages were 78,000.
I own a nissan murano and in may 08 driving on the freeway and without any warning we had a sudden loss of power. we managed to pull over, stopped the engine and restarted it. check engine light came on but we were going out of town and car drove fine and check engine light went off. we had the same problem on 9/6/08 and took the car to nissan dealership. they claim it was a wiring problem to the throttle connection and repaired it and assured me they had fixed the problem. driving home on an extremely busy freeway in rush hour it happened again, today 9/25 and this time the car behind me had to swerve to avoid me but i was near my exit and cruised to a stop. i was quite shaken. i turned the car off and it started again and immediately drove it to the dealership. they still have it and are checking it. this is an extremely dangerous situation. i have called nissan and they apparently do not have any complaints and also the dealership has not heard of this which is quite surprising as literally hundreds of complaints regarding the murano for same problem on websites. my complaint is that the 2004 nissan murano (less than 37,000 miles) is extremely dangerous to drive and nissan knows there is a problem and they are ignoring it. we have been lucky that we were not rear-ended at high speeds where someone could have been killed. i am waiting to hear back from nissan but the fact that the dealership has not heard of this problem is amazing, just type in nissan murano sudden loss of acceleration and you will see. not sure if anything can be done, but i want my complaint documentation in case someone dies due to this problem. *tr
I never received a recall notice on my vehicle from nissan, as i was driving home on wednesday, 8/20/08 my vehicle just stopped operation as i was going through an intersection, luckily there was no traffic. i coasted to the side of the road and turned off the car. after having it towed i found out it was the alternator which cost me $456.73. i found out from the garage that this vehicle had a recall, i again was never informed and would like to received reimbursement for this expense. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced failures with the electrical system and alternator. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to have the alternator replaced seven times and the battery was also replaced. the dealer (autonation nissan pembroke pines, 8890 pines blvd, pembroke pines, fl 33024, (954) 949-0421) was contacted and stated that the previous owner had the vehicle repaired per an unknown recall, which had expired. the dealer would not honor the recall repair performed by an outside mechanic. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 37,852.
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. while driving approximately 60 mph, the alternator and brake light indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle came to a complete stop and was towed to the dealer. the dealer stated that the alternator was the cause of the failure. the dealer replaced the alternator at the cost of $874. the manufacturer stated that the dealer in vermont replaced the alternator under nhtsa campaign id number 05v319000 (electrical system:alternator/generator/regulator). the dealer in connecticut stated that the recall repair was never performed. the manufacturer stated that the campaign expired in 2006; therefore, they were not responsible for reimbursement and would not provide documentation with the recalled information. the failure mileage was 46,095 and current mileage was 46,095 updated 06/16/08 *bf
My family and i were driving our vehicle and were at a light. our vehicle shook very hard when i applied the gas. car would not go more than 5 miles and hour. we were on our way to the highway when it happened. took the car home. had it towed to dealership. they discovered that the transmission fluid had leaked out of the car. we were given three reasons for the problem. reason 1: "o" ring on hose broke (covered under warranty) reason 2: dealer called back with a second reason. they said acid leaked from the bottom of the battery onto the transmission. (not under warranty) reason 3: when we picked up the car we were told that the battery was leaking from the top because the battery was overcharging itself. we were told that another murano had experienced the exact same problem (battery leaking acid to transmission). since it happened to our car and another we questioned the safety not to mention how does a battery overcharge itself. sounds like something is causing the car to do this. talked to dealers consumer people. basically told us that it can't be disputed if car was fixed. even though dealer confirmed happen to our vehicle and another (one has to wonder if it happened to another). family and i thought it was important to report if nothing else to help track if this truly is a design issue. *tr
Re: nhtsa recall # p5215/05v-319, nissan motors recall of defective alternator. alternator was replaced in jul 06 as per recall, replacement alternator failed 20 jan 08 as per same symptoms that initiated recall. vehicle belongs to daughter and nissan would not replace for free, submitted arbitration to nissan hq and was denied. *tr updated.
Electronic door lock failure, 2004 nissan murano se. whether activated from the driver's door button or by remote fob and whether for lock or unlock, electromechanical response at each affected door is too weak, requiring manual lock/unlock. problem is not consistent at each door although all 4 doors have not worked simultaneously in 2-3 yrs. driver's door is the only one which has not been affected so far. *tr
